So we ordered carry out! We visit this place often and we have had a few unfavorable experiences but because they seem to be for the culture we give the benefit of the doubt. Well now theyve just gotten lazy. Prices are outrageous the atmosphere is booooorrrriiinnngggg theres no structure. They have just stopped seasoning the food its bland. And the waiters are children that dont wanna be there and it shows. No pride in the family business at all.

I wish I would have taken photos of the food! We were in Dallas for a short amount of time and wanted something clean, fresh and filling without having to drive all the way into the city or to the north side of Dallas this place really delivered. The food took a bit but that s because everything was made fresh. The burgers were excellent and we are super picky. The salad with buffalo sauce was to die for. The smoothie was clean, made with fresh fruit and they were happy to accommodate me not wanting any added sweeteners. The sweet potato fries were excellent and the lady knew I didn t want any sugar in my smoothie so she made sure to ask if we wanted the sugar mix on the sweet potato fries. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves all the naughty foods with a cleaner touch. Dietary restrictions: Vegan and lower fat options (like turkey instead of beef) Parking: Parking was easy and is blocked from the grocery store next door using it for parking. Kid-friendliness: The kids were totally comfortable and enjoyed the fresh delicious kid menu items.

Went in today for the first time with my husband and as we Walked through the door, the place looks very nice. I approached the buffet table as the smell from the food was amazing .well to my surprise, someone from behind the counter started yelling at me to stop looking at the food trays because they had stopped serving already! Well I was just looking and since it was our first time there we just noticed that there was a buffet setup in a corner unfortunately the lady s approach was very disappointing as all seemed tasty and good.

I spent $200 overtime. I have just about tried everything. I wish you were guys will invest in another chef like a vegan chef. The food is just not good. It s just basic customer service is all right. Just take the time and compare yourself to other restaurants. Vegan restaurants or pescatarian restaurant the food is not quality here, those are my suggestions

Incredible staff and food. I had to put in a large order for my workplace. The lady who took my order went through the receipt to make sure we both had everything right. She even labeled the boxes so that my employees knew whos box was theirs. Including my order, they made 12 meals in about 30 minutes, every meal was correct, and the food was superb. Being that this was for my job, the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was correct and made on time. On top of that, they were incredibly friendly. The lady, whos name I wish I could remember, even offered to help me bring the bags to my car. Excellent service!! I had the hot dog and it was goated. I highly recommend!

Family owned and operated for many years. They bring culture , consciousness and cuisine to this neighborhood and city. So many pictures here I wish I had in my own house. The vibe is definitely a place where you and your friends can come relax and enjoy a good meal. The music is always playing with a lot of culture, arts, crafts, t-shirts, oils and soaps to be purchased. I asked what are the most popular menu items and got them. We have a juicy turkey burger with fries , vegan nachos and a chicken burrito. To be honest this food is meant to be eaten on site when it is the most fresh. I got it all as a take-home and did not eat it until later in the day. Except I did chop down on that chicken burrito before I even left the parking lot it was delicious. This is the type of place that you need to come to and see if you fit the vibe. Please remember parking on the property is for this establishment only. Not soul food at all and vegan food was subpar. It tasted premade. The vegan fish awful and seaweed tasting. My partner hated his real meat as well. We went to the brunch on a Sunday. The food was bland and the eggs tasted bizarre. The waffles were grainy and not sweet. Im vegetarian so he tried my food and the non vegetarian food. He didnt like it. I thought this would be a great vegetarian place since they are rare but I was disappointed.

First time here, but let me start with this. I didn t intend to eat here, found it online and decided to give it a try. I had the veggie burger which I can happily recommend. 9/10. The bread was whole wheat, veggies were perfect. Came with fries that I was told are made in house, they are like steak fries and very tasty. My lady had the turkey burrito in a spinach wrap that came with chips and salsa. Chips were great, salsa was on point. Not spicy at all, very fragrant of cilantro. Aside from the burrito falling apart, she loved the guacamole, beans cheese and the turkey, although it had a tad too much lettuce, overall 8.5/10. Now, the star of the show was their homemade hibiscus tea! My lady had the black tea hibiscus, I had the lemonade hibiscus. They were both phenomenal. 10/10! A little pricy for the size, but definitely worthy of a try! Vegetarian options: They have an actual vegan menu with plenty of options. I had the veggie burger that was wonderful, they have quite the selection.

It was my first time in the atmosphere was welcoming. I ordered a beef burrito, fish nuggets & fries, and a hibiscus tea. After reading the reviews I m saddened to say how disgusting the food was. The fish was horrible and left a bad after taste. The burrito was greasy. The fries were bland. I tossed everything in the trash. I had my husband taste the food as well and he agreed that they missed the mark. Sadly I only consumed the tea. I really wanted badly to enjoy this place. My opinion is just one of many and I m so glad others enjoyed their meals.

This place was delicious. I m vegetarian, my parents are vegan, and I m always happy to show them what vegan DFW has to offer when they re visiting. Mom and I had the vegan chicken sandwich; awesome, great thick fries too. Dad had the vegan loaded baked potato; it was huge, with vegan bacon crumbles and delicious smoky bbq sauce. He destroyed it. For vegans looking for a option that doesnt have beyond or impossible meat being used they have a burger here called the Sankofa Burger that uses real veggies that doesnt contain soy in the patty. Its on a whole whet bun so theres still gluten. Tasted great and the honey cake was divine as well! Vegetarian options: Lots of vegan options, would like to see more soy free options for vegans trying to reverse and heal their gut biome health.

I ve been going to Sankofa for a while now and I always enjoy their food. So today I go and I order my food only to get home and it s not the correct order. I ordered a vegan meal and got a turkey meal. I called them to let them know and I unfortunately had to drive back up there to get my correct order. That was a major inconvenience but it happens sometimes. MY problem is that if I spend 25$ on one meal with an establishment, you would think that they would accommodate for their mistake by adding in a drink or SOMETHING! Even half of my refund would ve sufficed! Anything to make the customer feel like the drive back was worth it, right?! No. They didn t do anything but make a new order and I had to wait more time for my food. It s hot and I m annoyed. It s so hard to support black owned businesses bc the customer service is never on par. Ughhh please do better. The food is good but I ve been to many places that would ve went above and beyond to make it right, unfortunately this place isn t it.

So happy and grateful to find a place I can eat with my family. I m vegan and love the vegan options here. My parents are omnivores and my Dad loved the catfish. I tried this restaurant for the 1st time and loved the sweet potato fries! The black bean burger was seasoned very well. I enjoyed the lemonade and dairy free banana pudding, too! Not only do they offer vegan options, but they also served regular meat eater options too, so it was nice that my husband was willing to try it too. I had the pleasure dining in at this restaurant. I must say the food was good It tasted totally different from vegan food. However, I noticed how the manager or owner treated a staff person, as the young man was reporting to work. He had such a happy disposition and spoke to her, she never opened her mouth or knowledge him. I thought that was unprofessional on her part especially in front of customers.There was a young girl taking orders, she never said, may I help you, she just looked at you, almost like she had an attitude. I like the food, unfortunately, the customer service is just not there. I will not return !!!

We are a Vegan family who stopped here on our way back from traveling on the road for nearly 3 weeks. The menu has a nice selection of Vegan foods and we enjoyed our choices very much. The food, the atmosphere, and the hospitality are fantastic here! We enjoyed watching the videos on the TVs and learning about the history and the people who make this place full of passion and purpose. The food is cooked fresh upon ordering, and is served up in generous portions. The flavor of the food is delicious, with the various spices used, and the fresh ingredients. I was pleasantly surprised to find the fries were both generous in size and portion, and were not swimming in grease. The Vegan Shrimp PO Boy is one of the best Ive ever had because the soulful flavor is spot on with the Vegan tartar sauce, the veg, and the lightly battered shrimp. My husband got the Loaded Vegan Nachos and that plate was stacked nearly to the ceiling with food! We spoke with a nice customer as we were paying, and she said we MUST try the carrot cake, so we did, and WOW! That carrot cake is super moist, has a delightful essence of spice, and is topped off with a fantastic homemade icing. It was so good and like the rest of the food at Sankofa, was obviously made with love! We are all about the EXPERIENCE we have when visiting a place. We thoroughly enjoyed ours at Sankofa. Delicious and fresh made-from-scratch food, a beautiful and clean environment that teaches the PURPOSE of their PASSION, and the most welcoming family-Sankofa is a place you want to visit, whether you are Vegan or not! My first time in Dallas. I wanted vegan bbq but I searched vegan ND this was the first place that came up. They have regular soul food and vegan menu with burgers , chicken tenders and mainly really a bunch of different vegan burgers . Black bean, impossible burgers, beyond burgers, etc. I dont usually like the processed fake meat patties so I got black beans . It was the best black bean burger I ever had, I can only image with the impossible burgers taste like tbh The atmosphere is amazing as well, books and clothing , soaps and incense , wrapped around the sankofa theme. Loved it

Food was amazingly good. I read the other reviews and decided to give it a try. I had the vegan shrimp basket. Shrimp was 10/10. Flavor and texture on point. Fries were 11/10 real potatoes and seasoned. Greens were seasoned to the Godsss! They offered vegan tarter sauce that was perfect. Atmosphere- really clean, welcoming, nice play list. The book selection was great. I bought two holistic health books. Service - great service. Looks family owned which was nice to see. Polite and helpful staff. My new spot! I m new to the area and glad to have found it. Vegetarian options: I loved the options. The vegan shrimp is awesomely tasty. The menu is balanced for vegan and non vegans Dietary restrictions: I am plant Baysed and loved the verity. Its crazy because its a black owned business and I never want to down the come up. The people here were WEIRD. We walked in my husband needed to use the bathroom they gave him a 3 minute questionnaire about needing to use the bathroom... we dont look homeless & this isnt that kind of area. A guy came to me and said... can I help you, loud & aggressively. We just left. Im giving 3 stars simply on the beautiful selection of black art and the childrens reading selection looked dope!

I was very disappointed with my food and customer service. they are having buffet today for $20. my food was cold and the young lady got an attitude becuz I told her my food was cold. $20 wasnt worth it. The only thing I eat was Luke warm grits and hot water cornbread. We need to do better if you want me to patronize your establishment.
