Fun menu design. One of the better spots downtown. Very loud inside with the DJ. Drinks are fine if you are staying in the hotel. More in the sweet side. But not much character to the bar to make it a unique destination in Dallas.

For being a cocktail lounge in the basement of the Joule with vintage deco style woodwork, youd expect an atmosphere that reflects that of the establishment it is in and that of the era it is trying to pay homage to. Not so with this place AT ALL. For paying nearly $40+ for two drinks for two people, youd expect to be in an atmosphere where you can at least have a conversation without shouting. Alas, Midnight Rambler thinks that cocktail lounge means blast music as loud as possible to feel like a club. Which complete goes against what they advertise in their website as being this classic cocktail lounge. For context, I registered 90db at one point because it was so loud which is as loud as lawnmower or train which makes conversation impossible. If you are blasting music this loud you need to offer earplugs as a courtesy to your patrons, its the bare minimum you can do if you insist on trying to be a club without being a club. I ordered the BBQ manhattan and after ordering I realized it was somehow made with brisket? When our drinks came I asked is this drink made with meat? And the server said no and I asked further and got out of him that it is made from some rendered beef fat and such. Im a vegetarian. Youre serving a drink on the menu made with meat and you have almost 0 indication that is made with beef fat/renderings/etc. supremely disappointed that a drink menu needs to call out vegan/vegetarian friendly or not. To top off our night, we attempted to validate our valet parking at the bar and were told to go check with the guy at the top of the stairs. We get to the top of the stairs and he tells us to go back downstairs and ask a bartender to do it. How poorly do you train your staff that they dont know how to validate parking? What is super unfortunate is that had this place had music played at a normal volume that my partner and I could have a conversation, we would have stayed for a few rounds of drinks. Youre a vintage style cocktail lounge in the Joule hotel. You dont need a DJ blasting music like crazy to have an impression. at minimum play some tunes at a chill volume. At best get a trio of jazz musicians or something and let them create atmosphere. Youre not a club. Youre a cocktail lounge. If you want to act like a club please advertise yourself accordingly and get rid of the lounge tables and seating and just install a dance floor.

Midnight Rambller is a good place for a classic cocktail. I got an old fashioned which was pretty standard in price. There are some adventurous options on the menu as well. The lady who served us was nice. I dont hang out downtown often, but I will definitely need to revisit this place whenever Im downtown again.

Visited tonight to celebrate my fiancés birthday with drinks. We sat patiently for a server, but apparently there was no one to serve us After waiting a while, I got and went to the bar to order drinks. I asked the bartender where is the server and they didn t know. I couldn t help but notice every other table around me was getting service, except for me.. I also couldn t help but to notice we were the only black people. Take it as you will, but I d hate for others to have this awful experience. Will not come back. Such a shame.

The standout here is the creative cocktail menu made by knowledgeable, inventive, and caring bartenders. So many cool drinks to choose from. The inside is sleek and fun which makes for a great late night atmosphere. It did get a little loud so maybe not the best for a large group!

This is a gem of a hang out spot nestled in the basement of the Joule Hotel. It harkens back to the 20s speakeasy. The bartender Haley slings some badass drinks while taking excellent care of you. Highly recommend this as a pregame spot for all the fun youre about to have in downtown Dallas!

We were super excited to try this place out but unfortunately I was denied entry for my clothing. I m a casual dresser and just enjoyed many great drinks at The Woolworth nearby. The host looked me up and down and made a comment Are you staying here? No I replied. He said we have only one problem, it s the basketball shorts. We left and headed to a place who welcomes money.

First time at this establishment. We went as a group of 8 after dinner for drinks on a Friday night. It was kinda packed but they were great in accommodating us with a seat. Its supposedly a speakeasy thats very easy to find at the basement of The Jouel Hotel. The drinks were nice with interesting names too. Drink prices as expected for this type of places $14 - $17. The only thing, its a small space and the music was too loud. We couldnt have any conversation and got a headache from it. I think it would be a great spot if the volume can be adjusted.

When I visited, they presented a menu with artists inspiring the drinks. Won me over! It felt very special to drink a unique cocktail out of what seemed to be a real piece of signed art by the artist mentioned in the menu. Very creative! Additionally, very tasty. I don t think it was their fault that the air in the surrounding area smelled yucky. You could tell the outside oder invaded all the neighboring buildings(I had made other stops this night). So aside from the invasive tench that seemed to be no result of this establishment, the atmosphere was beautiful inside.

I loved this bar. It has speakeasy vibes but open to the public , and easily accessible. The drinks were beautiful and the flavors were unique. Speakeasy located inside the Joule. This is a small cozy speakeasy with a limited cocktail menu. We did not have a reservation and sat at the bar. Wonderful little location that is almost hidden in the lower floor of the Joule Hotel. Im a big fan of the cocktails and had a really pleasant charcuterie board to compliment my drink. The dim lights leave a very romantic, yet lively vibe that makes any date worthwhile. Very knowledgeable staff that have great recommendations. I tried a few drinks and was pleasantly surprised at how fresh and balanced the flavors were. The day I visited wasnt as busy as some of the reviews state, but the space still had great energy. Ill need to come back on a late weekend night for a more crowded vibe!

Amazing bar and the right ambience that we were looking for. We came here before dinner at around 6, and it was empty so it looked like we had the bar to ourselves. What an amazing bar. This place was recommended to me by a Dallas local and I loved it.I went on my own and I was made to feel so welcome from the second I arrived. The atmosphere is great and I ended up talking to loads of people. The bartenders are all artists at what they do. They worked like machines continuously producing fabulous looking and tasting cocktails. I have to give a huge shout out to Hayley who was amazing. Her cocktails tasted awesome. And when it eventually got a bit quieter towards the end of the evening and she could draw breath, she gave me loads of hints and tips on what to do during my time in Dallas. Girl Power! So, yes, this is Gabe s bar. He s magic and runs a fantastic establishment. But, the energy in Midnight Rambler is 100% Girl Power. Hayley is the only bartender I ve ever met that can square up to the former lobby bartender, DJ. Kelsey is the cutest apprentice bartender you ll ever see. Smart as a whip and too cute for mortals. I really enjoyed the bar but I valeted my car at the hotel where this bar is housed at and it took 30+ minutes to get my car . Although you drop your car at the front of the hotel they expect you to walk to the other side of the hotel to pick up your car there were multiple people standing in the cold waiting 15+ minutes to get their car. All while the valet attendant at the front side of the hotel stood there on his phone doing nothing after my long way I finally got my car and the valet attendant still expected me to pay $15 for such lack of customer service and sheer rudeness. Nice bar under the joule. Its on the small side, which is fine. It leans more grown up than, Woo! which was appreciated. We enjoyed the crafted cocktails. They were expertly made and you could taste the flavor profiles well. Wed come down with our selected drinks in mind, only to discover theyd changed the menu. A little disappointing but we recovered and found good substitutes. Nice to know they keep things fresh. Would come back with friends. One other side note, it had a very strong odor like a swimming pool. They opened the door late so Im guessing they had to do some type of bio clean up. It was a little distracting from the ambience, which was dark and bluesy, but in a good way.

Always very friendly staff and the cocktails are always on point. It is rare that a restaurant or even a cocktail lounge has impressive craft cocktails but Midnight Rambler does the most when creating their craft cocktail menu. The drinks are always very balanced and delicious. They also have the ability to make most classic cocktails which seems to be a dying art now a days. Always enjoy coming here

Cozy basement bar, great for Sundays or during the week, have not been here in busy Friday and Saturday, but I can kind of tell if I had, it would be popping, and probably not for me, but definitely a type As spot. Good decor, good staff, just be friendly, and youll enjoy this bar.

I ve been staying at The Joule for the past week and I had high expectations of the midnight rambler after the amazing experience I ve had at the hotel. First, the bar is small but well designed and makes for a nice experience. The bar staff was minimal and it took forever to order and receive a drink. While attempting to get attention to pay my 100 dollar + bill, my boyfriend was addressed by Jennifer asking if we had settled our tab. My boyfriend explained that I was trying to and enquired about additional staff to speed up the efficiency. This rattled Jennifer and she kicked him out. He said he wouldn t leave with me, and at this point she kicked both of us out. The security was uncomfortable with this decision but ultimately obliged. Jennifer was rude and made me feel as though gay people weren t accepted here. I left and immediately spoke with management of the hotel. Big shout out to management who quickly responded to my issues and responded the next day. Thank you to The Joule. Jennifer needs a serious talk about inclusion and not to be rude to people who support her salary.

My wife and I went to Midnight Rambler after our wedding with friends to continue celebrating. The staff greeted us with champagne and took care of all our drinks that evening. The way we were treated gave us a wonderful memory to cap off our special day. Thank you!!!

The cocktails are decent and will keep you enjoying your trek through downtown Dallas. I recommend making this one of the later stops on your downtown Dallas tour. Its a relatively laid back joint (during the work week) which finishes the evening nicely. Also...the ambiance is quite lovely if youre in a small group.

This is a great cocktail bar. They have well made drinks and creative ideas. I dont like the vibe of a really crowded bar because its just less social. They handle crowds well but it is a popular spot (i.e. crowded) at peak times. I highly recommend going here at an off peak time, meeting some new friends, and enjoying some new flavors.
