My husband played today...08.20.2024. He had his friend raved about how good of shape the course is in. However, the staff was rude and more concerned with talking to each other than providing customer service. They went inside after playing to get a beer and a snack. All 3 girls were standing at the front desk and no one was in the restaurant. My husband went to the front desk asked if they needed to order at the front desk or in the restaurant. Girls talked among themselves to determine who was supposed to wait on them. Finally decided they could sit down and someone would be in there to take their order. Placed an order for 2 beers. She was gone for an extremely long time to come back and tell them all you had was cans...disappeared again and finally brought the beers. Placed their food order and she disappeared again. My husband went back to the front and they were all standing around again. He walked back, then the staff showed up with food. Poor, poor, poor service. Management needs to do more training with staff or at the very least MANAGE. They were not the only ones in the restaurant having issues. He also noticed that one table was getting a lot more special attention than all the others. We live about 10 miles from there and he would love to go there more often. However with the service like it is currently hes rethinking that. Hes been a handful of time and the service has been poor EVERY time.

Rusted Rail has become our home course even though it is a 45 minute drive. The course has really matured nicely with some of the best greens in the metroplex. They are doing a great job of watering but, like every other course in Texas, we need some rain. Great job by all of the staff to make you feel welcome. One small thing to think about, allowing carts in the parking lot. Some of us Old men have a tough time carrying all of our gear that far.

This is my go-to course as its fairly local. The course has been renovated, the club house is beautiful, the fairways, sandtraps, and greens are always in good condition. I would love to give it 5 stars however, It is rare to see a cart girl on staff which would be nice in this Texas heat,the carts are certainly showing their age, and the green fees are a little elevated for the course when compared to other courses with similar green fees. Overall, the rail is one of my favorite courses to play and will keep going back every chance I have.

I played the Creekview Course 10 years ago and swore Id never return to the hashtag hardpan. While searching to find a place to get teed off, Rusted Rail popped up. At first, I thought, ehh they changed the name, so what. I dug into the reviews and found some decent feedback about the new ownership, rejuvenation of the course and clubhouse. So, we checked out the website and booked a round. I was nervous about the $50 price tag given the PTSD from Creekview. When we arrived, you could tell there were recent renovations to the clubhouse. I could care less about the clubhouse, but it does make you feel a little better when it looks inviting. The only thing I needed to know is do you have cold beer? Yes. Check. Ok clubhouse is fine, staff was friendly. I was pleasantly surprised to find the driving range was in good shape and well taken care of. The tee areas had good grass and they didnt have you teeing off in old divots. Nice chipping green and good-sized practice putting green, which were both in great shape. The fairways on the course were in fantastic shape. Some of the best Ive played so far this season and I think Im on my 19th round. The greens were a little bumpy, but they were quicker than I anticipated, which I like. Overall, I would say they were in pretty fair shape. The rough is pretty thick and can be long and penalizing on some holes. You can get some hardcore unfriendly lies if youre not accurate off the tee. So, make sure to try and keep it in the fairway. Overall, the course itself is fun. Its not too hard, which is a relative term for a golfer. There are really not too many memorable holes that stick out to me, but thats not fault of the new ownership. I did like having a Par 3 as the 9th hole, which is different. You get a good birdie chance before making the turn. We saw pretty good reviews on their food. We were going to try to the food after our round, but all we saw was hotdogs roasting under a heat lamp. So not sure where you actually go if you want to order something off the grill? Overall, I do think $50 is a touch too high and something in the low $40s would be a better value. I would play it again and I would have given it 5 stars if it was priced better, if the layout was a bit more exciting and if we could have figured out where to order actual food.

We had a wonderful time at The rusted rail with the Forney Chamber of Commerce. It was a great night and lots of fun. I thought the venue was magnificent. If youre looking to do an event this is definitely the spot in Kaufman County. The staff seem real friendly and eager to help. Ill definitely attend the next event and look forward to going golfing out there!

Played 4/16/23 2:09 Tee Time - 5:03 pace of play 0 handicap Pace of play was terrible, we were 20 minutes backed up on the 1st and waited every shot. No Marshall on the course and multiple 5somes. Course is in ok shape but the greens were very rough - bumpy and fast is not a good combo. Some of the worst I ve played in DFW this year, hopefully they come back soon. Layout is fun and challenging, if they got it in good shape and fixed pace of play it would be good. Probably won t be back on a Sunday afternoon anytime soon. UPDATE: Played 4/26/23 in Texas Am Qualifier - greens still suck

Moved into the Crandall / forney area and played here for the first time. Obviously with the winter season the grass was brown like any other course, but still a very nice facility, clubhouse / pro shop. Had a great round and staff seemed friendly. Will definitely Be my home course!

We hosted a rehearsal dinner here. It was the perfect venue for our event. Penny was incredible and made everything so easy. Dinner and drinks were amazing. The service we received was wonderful! They have Friday night karaoke and our entire party moved outdoors after our event to enjoy the rest of night. The venue is beautiful and the service was incredible. Everyone enjoyed the event.

As far as the venue is concerned, this place has been amazing! Ive been to numerous events here and have been impressed with the staff, the food, and the venue. It has beautiful views of the golf course. Penny is wonderful to work with. She makes everything easy. They setup tables and chairs and serving areas. Theyve done a great job every time. Easy access of off hwy 175 in Crandall. 5 , definitely recommend.

While the course looked awesome and was great to play, I was not impressed with the staff. Not only were they unfriendly, but the little boy in charge implied that we were going to tear the course up all because we bought beer. Ive been playing golf since I was 16 and drinking beer since I was 10. I can hold my own in both regards and have yet to mess up a course. I fix my divots and ball marks which is more than I could say for most sober people. July 16 840 Am tee time

Finally got a chance to get back out to this course. Unbelievable how much they have turned this course around in a short time. Hands down this course is top 5 for DFW area right now. It s the middle of August and the fairways and greens were near perfect. The greens rolled very true and an added bonus is the grill after your round is over. If you are looking for a new course to check out I would strongly recommend Rusted Rail, you will not be disappointed.

We took a group of 12 on a Saturday, and they gave us 4 tee times in a row. None of us had played there before, but we had heard that it has become a really nice course. Everyone of us really enjoyed everything about this course! The Staff was incredible, the newly built Clubhouse was spectacular, and the burgers, fries, and onion rings were absolutely delicious! Even thought we havent had ANY rain in weeks and 100 degree days, the course was still in very good shape! We all agreed that we would love to return and probably bring a much larger group!

The course is really looking great. All the greens are coming in well. The greens are really slow but are starting to roll good. For the price your getting a excellent product. The range is good for warming up before the round. I would like to know how far we are hitting to on the range better so I could site my clubs in better. It just my personal preference but I would like to see a premier practice area. There is nothing within 50 mile radius to just go practice. I would be willing to pay extra for that type of facility. The people that work there are awesome. If your looking for a place to join this is a great place to come.

First time playing here and was surprised to find such an amazing course in Crandall of all places. Fairways were super maintained and for the most part the greens were too (few rough ones but that s just part of rehabing the greens). Love the placement of the concession in the middle of the course helps with drinks and snacks. Also loved seeing water jugs around the course to top off. Great place and will definitely be coming back soon!

Tried this place out mainly for karaoke night as Crandall is a long way from my home in Garland, but loved the grounds and outdoor atmosphere. Great wait staff! Had a chicken, cranberry and pecan salad which was good, but light on chicken salad and heavy on lettuce. Onion rings looked good, and tried someones waffle sweet potato fries, which were good. Cant speak for other menu items. Typical country club atmosphere, but the grounds were beautifully kept and almost expected to see deer grazing there! Might go again, but only occasionally due to distance.

From the minute we booked our tee time to the end of our round the Golf experience we had was outstanding. The hospitality we experienced was 2nd to none. The staff made us feel very welcome and were able to answer every question with great knowledge of their facility and course. The GM introduced himself after our round as we relaxed in the club house after the round thanked us for coming out invited us back. The course has a great layout was in good shape a lot of fun to play. The drive to Crandall is worth the time and experience we cant wait to book again. So many improvements to the course and facilities since the course has changed hands. Pros - The pro shop, and stop in the middle of the course are awesome. The bunkers are consistent, and easy to play out of. Fairways will be awesome once spring really gets going. Have always loved the layout here. Cons - About 1/2 the greens have been eaten up by fungus, hoping they get that situation cleared up. The greens drag down what would otherwise be a great experience.

This is a nice public course. I would like to see some improvements on the range. The greens have not come in yet so some of them are a little rough. The fairways have very little grass. I dont know if over seeding them next year is a option. Overall its a good venue.

Great place for events. Been part of 2 at this location. Manager is very nice and staff does a great job. Not sure on max size but at least 100 people can fit comfortably with tables and chairs. Not a ton of tech but what is there is very functional. Easy access to parking lot in and out.

Great place to go for par 3 and 4 rounds. Price is good and attendants are courteous. Some of the greens could use some more work as they are a little rough but I think they are trying to make improvements. I recommend this place.

Im giving it 3 stars because Penny is an absolute angel and definitely deserves a raise. We held my brother-n-laws Celebration of Life here and its an absolutely beautiful venue. But there were just honestly soooo many issues I could NEVER in good faith recommend this place to a friend for an event. Someone talked my sister into not needing the extra hour to set up before guests and only needing 30 minutes because most things would be handled by staff (they werent). So out the gate it was bad. Trying to decorate as guests were arriving . Then NOTHING was compatible with TVs and speakers for music and slideshows... REMEMBER THIS WAS A CELEBRATION OF LIFE. We were told they had a laptop at the venue for a flash drive, but there wasnt one. The sound from their speakers is honestly horrible anyway as they ended up playing their own music until we ran back home and grabbed a decent Bluetooth speaker. The bar that you have to pay for separately opened late, and the poor girl they put to work it, didnt have a clue. It took her nearly 10 minutes just to get a couple of beers that she had no opener for. We were using lighters and various objects to get our beers opened I ordered patron chilled and dressed. but couldnt get it because there wasnt an open bottle. I actually had to keep repeating myself as she continued to pour jose cuervo, AND THEN finally understood what was going on enough to tell me that, YES... they actually did have patron, it just wasnt opened, so she gives me this hot, unsalted, no lime, brown liquor... ummm It just goes on and on... WHAT I WILL SAY IS THAT PENNY IS THIS PLACES SAVING GRACE. Penny ran EVERYWHERE looking for speakers, labtops, wire for decorations, tried like hell to get ANYTHING to connect to the big screen, eventually rolled out a small TV, and also finally got behind the bar which is when we got patron chilled and dressed AND bottle openers!! Let it be known I would have given a 1 star rating if not for that woman.

As of right now the greens are in pretty bad shape due to the icemageddon we had back in february. But they have lowered their round fees to compensate and are trying other things and activities. The food in the restaurant is very good. The grilled chicken sandwich with Swiss is highly recommended and the burgers are tasty. Good people

I ve played here multiple times since last August, all great experiences until recently. The greens are basically sand at the moment, and they may be ruined for the whole season. Hoping this gets fixed because the clubhouse and food are great!

Not worth the 45 dollars we had to pay. Wasn t mowed properly and the greens were like had sand bunckers instead of greens. Memberships are way to high for this quality of a golf course as well.

The course took a beating when in froze. Right now all the greens are in terrible shape. Hopefully they will recover! They increased their green fees but course isnt worth the price at this time.

I very much enjoyed my round. I received a reminder before and a thank you after my round, which is totally unheard of in the golf business. Although the greens were damaged by the severe winter weather, the course played better than the greens conditions predicted. The course layout was interesting and challenging. The staff was phenomenal. Very enjoyable and worthy of loyal patronage. Will play again!

I can t wait to see what this course will be like in another year. The renovations and ongoing improvements are still in the works. The addition of more irrigation means lush greens and fairways. The staff here is always top notch, and very kind. Greens are absolutely wonderful and fast.

Played late December; course is in very good shape for this time of year. Good layout, no tricked up holes. Good choice of tees, from under 6000 to 7200 yards. Greens in good/excellent condition. Pro-shop staff friendly and helpful. Good practice range and greens. Very reasonably priced as well, and only a short drive from downtown Dallas.

We have been playing this course in Crandall for over 20 years and it has never been better. Not just the course but the staff that checked us in and brought us our refreshments were friendly and helpful. Had a blast and already planning our next round there!!!
