I really enjoyed dining at Dokyo Dauntaun. The reason for the 4/5 instead of 5/5 is the lack of the Beef Bulgogi. I ordered a number of sushi rolls and they were all fantastic but I really wanted the Beef Bulgogi. I would think a popular menu item would always be available and it was rather disappointing. Service was A+. Atmosphere was A+. I will return and hopefully get to try the famous Beef Bulgogi.

I love Dokyo! Food & drinks are amazing. BBQ beef don & Yukgaejung are my top favorites. As for drinks, they re one of the 2 places in town to get a good negroni, and their house cocktails do not disappoint. I recommend this place to anyone that asks about good restaurants in Corpus. I believe you may also rent a private dining for upto 14 people. I did for my birthday a few years back and absolutely loved it! My only complaint is that it gets loud in there sometimes. But they are a busy restaurant so I guess it comes with the territory.

Rating based on the food only. Service and drinks (4+star) were good. Very fusion themed, barely Korean. Went on a Friday night and they did not have half the items or any of the soups on the menu. How is that even possible? Asked the server and was told the items/entrees will be available on Monday. Of the items they had, the cut of meat used was of poor quality. For the price, there are far better authentic food options that use fresher and better quality ingredients in Corpus. Advise: visit for the drinks and sample the happy hour food (only if necessary).

The service was the absolute best! With the help of the bartenders we were able to make my sisters twin gender reveal very special using mocktails. Really disappointing. Went there for the first time last night. They messed up three times on our order. It wasnt even a complicated order, no special requests just basic menu items off of the sushi menu: 3 rolls, 3 plates of nigiri and 1 order of sashimi. What arrived was 3 rolls, 2 of which had the wrong ingredients and 4 plates of nigiri. When the sashimi finally arrived it was still partially frozen. I felt sorry for the waiter since it wasnt his fault. The chefs there need to get it together.

Me and my wife have been to Dokyo a few times and normally they are really good. But tonight the shrimp tempura was chewy and not fresh, and one of the rolls had a burnt taste. Me and my wife decided to tell the manager. They however could not do anything about our bill because we ate more than 25%. So if you eat there make sure you tell them after a bite or two that something is off!

Great place to visit and eat. Great atmosphere, honest drinks, honest food. No menus, they need the memo that covid is over. When I (and others in my party) asked for a menu, we are put to work by having to grab our phones to scan QR codes. I will visit again, so that should speak volumes because I liked the place overall. We are from out of town and This was our first time dinning in and only seating that was available was window seating which was very not in the room and there was no blinds on the windows which was very uncomfortable. The couple that was before us got nice seating in shaded area. We felt very outcasted. Then , as we got seated , regular straws were not available and only alcohol serving straws were available which was very difficult to enjoy . We did not stay and walked out to take our service elsewhere.

CAN WE GET A MENU PLEASE! The evening starts out with everyone burying their heads in their own cell phones, trying to sort through the selections, back and forth, while the server takes partial orders. Many were still ordering while others were being served. This unnecessary, laborious task put a huge damper on the night. I asked the server again, dont you have a real menu back there somewhere? His answer says it all, no, but I get that question a lot... The food would have to be spectacular to make up for this app kaos. The food was not spectacular. Dokyo, the app isnt cool. Its awful. Its COVID era junk that brings back sad times. Cmon.

The pros: The food was very good and service was prompt and friendly. The atmosphere is very trendy catering primarily to the millennial crowd, nice but not ideal for a quiet romantic dinner if thats what youre after. The restaurant itself was very clean. The dress code was all over the place, but smart casual seemed to be the primary look. Not a place for shorts and flip-flops. The most pleasant surprise was the price, my wife and I ordered high-end entrees and split a hot sake (one order was plenty for two and only $5!). The tab before the tip was $50, very reasonable for what you get. Both entrees came with sticky rice, which normally I avoid because its rarely done right but this was excellent. The cons are few. Im not a fan of the online reservation process as the only option and having to secure it with a credit card. The image is that the place is so busy youll need to reserve a table well in advance but that was clearly not the case. We went on a weekday and the place was maybe 1/3 full, not exactly standing room only. Im sure walk-ins are welcome but the website seems to imply otherwise. I could see this in place for the weekend, but not on a Tuesday evening. Also during the reservation process I was prompted if this was a special occasion, I replied that it was our anniversary but nothing was acknowledged during our visit. Lastly, the online-only menu may be getting commonplace but Im not a fan. Its best to check out the menu with your phone before you leave or youll be doing it at the table. Overall I highly recommend the place, primarily for the quality of the food and very reasonable price. We will definitely be back. Parking: Theres an adjoining lot thats designated for a bank (towing enforced), it would be nice if they could make a deal with them to allow parking after business hours.

It was our first time in Dokyo but won t be our last. The restaurant is dark but that makes the cool lighted bar really stand out. We ordered three sushi rolls and two dishes plus an app that we shared. The waiter told us that the menu changes often so I m not sharing what we had but it was excellent. When the noodle bowl we ordered was brought to our table, the aroma was amazing. Everything was fresh and delicious. Our waiter was attentive and really nice, thanks David. They have a ice selection of specialty drinks as well.

Me and my best friend visited Corpus for the first time and this was the first thing we ate. I got the Honey Chili chicken karage?? Ambiance was good. Service was mid AF, almost laughable tbh. Wasn t aware who our server was at all, and the people who did serve us were very impersonal despite it being our first time here ever. I want to say the food was good so bad, but it rlly wasn t. My bulgogli didn t come with the steamed rice it was supposed to. Then our sushi came out at the end of our meal when we were essentially done with everything, and the lobster tempura on top was stale and cold. The only thing that was great were our cocktails. Those were bomb, and definitely would say worth the price. Overall not worth spending our date night/valentines here.

We came here 1.5 years ago and had a extremely great experience. We were there yesterday and I m changing my review from 5 to 1 star. Drinks are watered down. I had made a dinner reservation for 9:15, my date and I arrived at 9:14, upon entering the restaurant we were told that they were closed, when it clearly states on both the door and their website that they are open until 10:00. When I informed the hostess that we had a reservation she mumbled something under her breath and walked away without saying a word. This was followed by 2 additional employees walking up to us asking if we had been helped to which we replied that we had a reservation but had been informed that the restaurant was already closed for the evening, though there were at least 3 other tables being waited on and at least 2 people at the sushi bar. Both of the 2 employees that approached us also walked away without saying anything. Finally 1 more employee came and asked if weve had been helped, when we told her we had reservations but were told they were closed, she asked if we had made the reservations that day to which we said we had and she also walked away without saying a word. Needless to say after 4 employees and 4 bad attitudes and poor service we walked out. Now mind you I had to put my credit card information in the site in order to place the reservation because had I not shown I would have been subject to a $20 no show fee, though after taking the time to get ready and driving over to downtown from the Southside for our much anticipated date night, Im feeling as though they should be subject to a $20 no service fee.

Cute, swanky vibes. Do not eat here if youre starving. The service was incredibly slow. We watched our drinks sit in the service well for over 10 minutes. When our server finally brought our drinks over, we quickly ordered another round that we didnt get until we were done with our first round. This is a fantastic place for sushi in Corpus Christi. The vibe is very Vegas to me. My wife and I live the bar scene the bartenders are fantastic.

UPDATE. I would like to thank the individuals who tried to threaten me on Facebook for posting an honest review of this garbage establishment. Im now in a lower opinion of this place, and if this is how you get 5 star reviews, you should upgrade your sushi game and customer service. Really wish I had picked another place. The heavy perfume smell this place has does not make me want to eat sushi... The staff directly said they dont eat fish there while at the station right behind our table. The employees seem to all have a very sloppy look and very little in the way of good customer service. Our food had burnt shrimp on the spider roll, undercooked rice, and wasnt as good as we had hoped after really looking forward to this place. Maybe try a different spot in town. This place totally missed the mark for us.

They have a super cool menu which is quite large. It got quite full on a Saturday night, and you might find yourself waiting a bit for your items to come out. The food itself was descent, but not as good as the prices suggested. Probably a good idea for groups just having a good time on a night out, maybe not so great for a romantic date night since its pretty loud and more of a party vibe. Our waitress was really great!

My girlfriend and I have been coming here for a very long time and we love every second of it, Francisco gave us the best service we ve ever had here very attentive and friendly aswell. We had a louder area and he went out of his way to clean off a table that was more suitable in a quieter area we appreciate him going out of his way to provide an excellent customer experience and will definitely be back!

The food service is a total scam. Home of the Wish Sandwiche.... I ordered Korean barbecue known as bulgogi. Thats usually barbecued meat accompanied by onions but what I got was a plateful of onions with maybe just one or two pieces of meat. We were a party at 6 and as I looked at the dinner of my fellow companions I noticed that this restaurant serves copious amounts of cheap accompaniments such as grilled onions, rice puffs Etc. They absolutely skip if not outright fail to put the expensive ingredients onto your plate. The Tower of Tuna... A column of rice and a wish... A wish for some tuna. Enormously disappointing. Not a place for dinner.

This is definitely a must go restaurant when In the Corpus Christi area, for a dinner date or night cap. The atmosphere is chic, sophisticated and very metropolitan. The service was not bad, we had a big party of 15 . We all had some pretty interesting drinks from the bar while waiting for our food but I was impressed that they seated us immediately, there was no wait time, thats a plus in my book ! The menu is Asian based with Japanese and Korean dishes , maybe some Vietnamese but not 100% on that one. They have sushi rolls Ive never heard of before so that was interesting , the food was brought out in a timely fashion. The dishes were tasty , some of the rolls were exquisite in taste, yum. Someone from our party ordered dessert, I managed to get a little bite just to taste and it was a delicious cheese cake I believe w chocolate sauce, perfect way of ending the evening of delectable delights. Another thing I must add, this restaurant in the heart off downtown has its own reserved parking for its patrons and new customers, that is a commodity if your gonna be hanging out in the downtown district because its all paid parking meters and pay 5 or 10 bucks to get a decent parking space so that is also a BIG PLUS in my eyes.

Food was excellent. I just moved to Corpus Christi actually right next to the restaurant and I decided to come down and give it a try alone because coworkers, fellow physicians, said it was a good spot. They are really good happy hour because there is no spots at the bar so they sent me at the sushi bar which was no issues. Sitting there for about five minutes. The young waitress comes up to me. Put water in front of me and says am I gonna order anything besides water. Wow, how rude. Told her I don t know maybe you can give me a menu. She Then pointed to the bar and said you can scan that and walked away. But if you re a regular, trying to just come to a friendly local restaurant to eat dinner after a long day at work, you might not get the best service.
