This was the second time my family had been here. Our first time was great. Food was amazing and atmosphere was perfect. We decided we would take our extended family here when we visited again. We were some of the first in to place an order and it took over 40 minutes for, a pastrami on rye, pineapple chicken, 2 grilled cheese, a burger, and tacos to come out. Got there at 11 right when they opened and didn t leave until well after 12:30. In the mean time people who ordered after us came and went while we still didn t have any food. I felt so bad when half the order came out and it was still another 10-15 minutes before the second half came out. I understand it was a big order, but it is just sandwiches and not complicated ones. Very disappointed and probably won t be coming back which is a real shame because the food is good.

Delicious sandwich!!! We waited about 30 minutes for 2 sandwiches (to go). It s a pretty cramped little restaurant but we made do. It smelled like cleaning products but we were there just 1 hour after opening so understandable. Super tasty, we were overall very happy we stopped here!

Great sandwiches. Excellent service. We had the French Dip, the fresh runs salad sandwich, the pastrami on rye, and the turkey club. All superb sandwiches. Potato salad was very good as well. And then shared a slice of their keylime pie. We enjoyed all of it! We will be back as soon as we can visit North Padre again. Highly recommend this SurfsidecSabdwich Shoppe.

A really nice hidden gem! All of our sandwiches were awesome! 4 stars for potatoe salad having a kick to it that my parents couldnt tolerate with no warning on the menu. Pasta salad was also warm which was alittle sketchy and Mac and cheese was just okay with barely any bacon in it. So the sides were alright but the sandwhichs were awesome!

UPDATE: Ive been back to this restaurant many times since my older reviews below. This is still a five star restaurant with great food and friendly staff. I added pics of the Crab Sandwich and menus. Older reviews: I hadnt been here in a while party due to the pandemic. To my surprise, they remodeled the restaurant. This is a hole in the wall type restaurant but in a good way.. Kind of a hidden gem on the island. My favorite is the Baja Shrimp Tacos! Years later I still really like this place... They remodeled again I believe if I recall correctly... Baja Shrimp Tacos still my favorite!

Lived on island 4 years and this was my first time eating at Surfside. I haven t gone before because why would I pay for a sandwich I could make at home. Well, I learned I ve been missing out. Wait for food was long. Food arrived and everything tasted great! That is until my son found not one, but TWO hairs cooked inside his burger patty. Had that not happened i probably would have rated pretty well. None of the kitchen staff wore hairnets as you can see them as theyre cooking. Do not recommend. This was July 1st 2024.

I live in Idaho and came here with no prior knowledge of how good it was, but I have come to find out it is WAY BETTER than good ! It is SURFPERB! I am beyond sad to leave just because it means leaving the best sandwich shop I ve ever known! And Sandra the waitress is my favorite! She has wonderful customer service! I do consider myself a connoisseur of sorts regarding the culinary treasures that are sandwiches and this place meets and often exceeds our expectations. In town visiting some family and they recommended we try this Sandwich Shoppe. It was great, the atmosphere is surfy/beach like fitting the name and location. The service was great the workers seemed happy to be there it took about 15 minutes to get our food. We had the crab cake sandwich and baja shrimp tacos, the crab cake was AMAZING. The most amazing crab cake I have ever eaten thus far in my life, I say this very sparingly as I have had a ton of crab cakes as appetizers at some thousand restaurants. This one legitimately deserves a rewards its huge in portion and the savory bread toasted with a soft top compliments it extremely well. It was so great it warrants another trip while I am still down here.

Food is intresting and entertaining, liked the fact they twist convention sandwiches to make custom offerings. Service is satisfactory, its like ordering fast food, quick touch and off ypu go to wait for order. We sat outside on patio, space inside is limited but patio near doubles it, was a nice day to enjoy. Later servers walked by often to attend to tables, so service was good enough. Atmosphere is like a small surfshop, intresting decor, definitely geared to surfers, restroom is well done and clean, big plus. Decor is plentiful, gaze around there is alot to take in. Will visit again, too many to try on a few bigots, must try remaining items with multiple visits. Food was done well, tasted good and doesnt take longer than reasonable. Very satisfactory on food and will recommend and visit again.

Best sandwich shop in the area! The portions are big and their potato salad is bomb! I love being able to sit out on the patio; however, yesterday was the first time I sat inside and the ambience is truly inviting! The menu has great options, the music was actually pretty good but not too loud, the food was hot and fantastic, and it seemed like the dudes working really wanted to do a good job and really cared about the product they were putting out. I got a grilled cheese with him and broccoli salad. Overall just really impressed, I m sure you could get away with doing things average on the island but you can tell the folks who run this place really care and take pride in it. Awesome stuff.

Went to many restraunts on the Island and Corpus. Spent tons of money at some and less at the others. This place was the best food we ate the whole time. Pricing was amazing considering the size and taste of the sandwiches. Got Mahi Mahi, Surfside Turkey, and the Ahi Tuna sandwich. Best sandwiches of my life. I ate way too much with no regrets. After waiting in line, with no exaggeration, for 20 minutes, one of the two waitresses, equipped with a handheld POS, skipped me and the guy in front of me and went to the fourth person in line. I assume the waitress wanted to split the line of waiting customers in half. If that was the reason, it would ve been totally fine. Had she asked, but she didn t ask. She told us that she was just going to start with the person behind me. The kicker was that she was able to get through the people behind me before the woman on the main register was able to help the person in front of her and the guy in front of me. Everyone else behind me got their order in first, as well as the two folks ahead of me. Not to mention the fact that they scream at each other, it seems, when they want to communicate with each other. If somebody has to take food out to the patio, then one of the three staff members have to leave the register or the bar or the kitchen or the customers to do so. Please do better. I called, once I left to explain my frustration and I was not heard. To the young lady I spoke with: saying with all due respect doesn t mean you are being respectful.

I got the pineapple chicken sandwich and it was so delicious with a sweet tea. My friends ordered the crab cake, a burger i think had bacon (can t remember the name), shrimp quesadillas, and some pork sliders. Everything tasted yummy and took maybe 15-20 minutes to come out, not bad. Staff seemed friendly and slightly busy. We sat outside, which I recommend unless you re just there for the bar. This is a little hidden treasure in the Island. Prices are very reasonable and the customer service is incredible. One of my favorite Happy Hour spots to drop in ( cant tell everyone my faves otherwise they may run out )lol. But the Chefs take much pride. I have tried many items and each time you can tell there is a passion for food in this place. Each encounter with staff has been pleasing the establishment really loves people and show them new foods. Angela ( I believe is her name) was one of my front faces to remember. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Great day spot and kid friendly :)

Completely disappointed! Mac and Cheese was more like a salty cup of noodle soup. Husband s teriyaki chicken sandwich was not very good. Looked like it came from a school cafeteria and was topped with a semi-frozen pineapple slice out of a can. As locals to the island we were hoping to find a good lunch spot but unfortunately it is OTB we go to find decent food.

You cant really go wrong here. We make at least one Happy Hour a week. 4 margaritas and 3 apps for less than $50 tip included. If Rudy is in the kitchen , everything is good. We always order the shrimp quesadillas and the house made marinara that comes with the grilled cheese dippers is like cocaine, you always want a little more.

The place is nice. Food excellent! Big guy working the grill was hard at it while the lady behind the counter was also attentive. The issue: The Hispanic man who came in, sat at the bar in the first seat closest to the grill. From the minute he got there, he was so loud and obnoxious as he carried on a LOUD conversation w those working. He said several times that he was off but had to work the next day. So, he obviously works there. Between his excessively loud demeanor and his constant swearing, we couldn t wait to finish and leave. He was buying alcohol for the girls behind the counter. The young girl refused, but the other woman who took our order enjoyed the shots!! We loved the food but will NOT go back due to this male, Hispanic employee! He needs to either be counseled or muzzled!!!!

Best damn place! Attention all visitors this is where you need to come. The environment makes you feel like that special little place where everyone knows your name. The cook takes pride in the food he makes and gives genuine recommendations. I went thier for lunch and ordered a blackened tuna and it was out of this world. The roast beef sandwich is also a great hit that is highly recommended. The place is also set up for those happy hours where you can just relax and watch some TV or listen to some tunes. They have a patio if you want to relax outside. Highly impressed with this place. Great employees, great food, great environment!

I think what bothered me most was after we placed our order, our waitress never came back to the table. We were asked to pay and tip before the order was put in.. we had to ask for our drinks and refills. Not sure what the tip was for really as there was no service. Other than, cool little place.

Stopped by on our way back to hotel, we both ordered the Baja Shrimp tacos. They were awesome. We ordered strawberry smoothies, what we got was more like a mixed berries smoothie. But it tasted awesome. So really no complaints. Loved the decor especially the wood for tables and bar. Staff was awesome. Loved the joke on take out bag.

You walk in aaaand Its pretty much a bar, which is a perfect island vibe. My wife got a fruit mojito which was excellent, I had a cold beer and our daughter had a mountain of coloring books and a bucket of crayons to keep her busy while we figured out our menu selections. My Philly cheese steak with spicy mayo was amazing but it was almost overshadowed by the potato salad next to it - very unique, I couldve had a meal of only that and been happy. My wifes chicken Cali club was good too and the bacon Mac and cheese was another superb side. We had a slice of key lime pie for dessert, and while it was tasty, it was a bit small for the price. But overall, wed come back in a heartbeat.

I dont know how you measure things down here on the Gulf Coast, but up in Dallas thinly sliced means about 1/16 thick or less. Apparently yall are on the metric system or something because my roast beef was about a 1/4 inch thick. And my wifes French Dip had a burned roll. Also, even though I asked for no cheese on her sandwich, and saw no cheese on the register readout, you guessed it, cheese. And really, $32 for 2 sandwiches?

Don t come if you want your food under an hour. Was opposite of quick, we must have come at a busy time (Monday for lunch) which understandably happens. However cook was very rude when we popped in from the outside to see if our name was called. We were waiting on the patio for a while and it wasn t clear if we needed to wait inside for our food or it would be brought out to us. No buzzer, number system to keep track of orders on the customer side. Regardless of how good the food taste you don t treat a paying customer with attitude and sass. Even if you re busy it doesn t give you a right to belittle people for following up on their orders. Won t be coming back and don t recommend this sandwhich shop to anyone else, plenty of other yummy places to eat at on the island with better customer service.

So glad we found this sandwich shop when we were heading back from Port Aransas. We got the crab cake sandwich, the ahi tuna sandwich and the Reuben & Bratwurst. Everything was delicious, the food was filling and tasted of amazing quality and care. I m so glad I tried the potato salad, it was the best I ve ever had. The Baja shrimp tacos were to die for. Im not a big cilantro fan so they left it off for me. Their Baja suace is delicious and the Mahi tacos killed. I had the fruit mojito light crispy and full of fresh fruit omg. The staff was amazing and personable its a nice beautiful spot with incredible food and people. We waited 45 minutes for our appetizer to come out cold. The grilled mozzarella was a sprinkling of cheese between toasted white bread served with a runny marinara sauce. The rest of the order included shrimp tacos which arrived cold and were skimpy on the shrimp. The lettuce of the shrimp salad needed to be rinsed better since they were sandy. We left hungry. Overall very disappointed with quality, quantity and service.
