In town for a work thing, went here on a whim, not many higher-end Mexican restaurants where I live. And all I can say is this place is phenomenal. Very thoughtful, excellent tasting food (highly recommend the peanut butter mole), friendly wait staff, and seemingly very intentional atmosphere. And, on top of all that, for an app, entree, cocktail, and desert, I only paid ~$40! I would have easily paid twice that for the quality of food. I wish all the best to this place and very much hope it is successful.

Had lunch yesterday....food, drinks, & dessert were memorable for sure, BUT what will bring me back here is the cutest, most welcoming service we received from Abby P! Shes the heart of this place. We tried the nachos (our favorite), two of the soups, birria tacos, a margarita, and the flan. Im not even a flan fan, but THAT flan....I am a huge fan!

Nice restaurant with Amazing food and customer service. Went two days in a row while working in CC. Both evening the service was excellent. Abby was our service the first night recommended the nachos and they were soooo good. We had the enchiladas verdes and carne asada tacos with an espresso martini. The second night we had Alise as our waitress. Again greeted with a smile and excellent service! We tried the nachos again! They just as delicious as the first night. Then had Tinga tacos and poblano soup. Really the nachos are a meal in itself! Thanks ladies again for excellent service and to the chef thanks for the wonderful food!

This restaurant is amazing. Coming from California, this felt like home-made authentic Mexican food. No corn or carrots in the rice, and the beans were awesome. We had the carnitas and the asada tacos, which were both absolutely delicious. The homemade guacamole tasted super fresh and was paired nicely with some blue corn crispy tortillas. Absolutely will be going back here again!!!

We had a nice quiet lunch. The service was good and the meal was about average. The cocktails were not the best and served in improper glasses in the near room temperature. This was our first time at this restaurant. We might give it another try another day. Thanks

Everything here exceeds expectations. The Nachos were not your average Taqueria. Youd have to experience them to understand. The service was excellent, very friendly vibe. My wife always gets Chicken Fajitas when we get Mexican. She said the Fajitas were beyond any shes had before. Many of the menu items are different from standard Mexican fair, some pictures would be helpful. Ive rolled the dice and tried different things, Ive never been disappointed.

My wife and I had a late lunch. The atmosphere, music and staff was superb and uplifting . We loved the deco and design of the restaurant. I ordered the TexMex Enchiladas. They were delicious. The spice blend in the sauce was the best, paired with refried black beans with queso fresco and mexican rice. My wife ordered the Birria Tacos. They were full of flavor and very satisfying. The consumme, dipping sauce was to die for. We cant forget to mention the guacamole with blue tostadas were out of this world! Last but not least, we were served 3 different salsas which included green salsa, red salsa and salsa guisada, all delicious and unique. We will definitely be back.

I was spending a week working in Corpus and decided to try out this place, the reviews seemed promising. When we arrived, there were only two tables sitting, one was already served. We ordered drinks and appetizer (chicharrones con salsa). The pork belly appetizer was decent. It was obviously deep fried and a bit bland but tasty. Before getting the appetizer we ordered some drinks, a caipirinha and a margarita. The margarita was overly sweet, the caipirinha on the other hand was apparently made with a squirt of lime and a shot of cachaça. The lime was not muddled with the sugar, at least not enough. The drink was basically a shot served over ice and all the sugar remained at the bottom. Asked if I wanted another, I said definitely not. After this the service went downhill quickly. We ordered the Birria tacos which came with a choice of refried beans or charro beans. The refried beans came with a sprinkling of white cheese and the charro with the usual bacon and cilantro. They were decent. The rice that came with the order was a little on the salty side, over-cooked with water but undercooked with a noticeable hardness in the grains. The Birria tacos were ok, a little bland but not bad. The corn tortilla Birria came with three tacos and a very small side of consomé, the flour two tacos. The food itself was not bad but the service was poor considering that at no moment there were more than three tables in the restaurant. Apparently, and Im assuming here, for saying I definitely did not want another caipirinha, the server / bartender Abby, took offense. I worked in restaurants for 6 years in my younger years and gave considerable effort to give good service. I did not bring my personal problems to the table, my job was to make the guests feel welcomed and offer the best service possible. This was not the case here. After finishing our meal, the server came and cleared the table, but she did not clear anything from my side even though I had everything stacked neatly to take in one go. She returned a second time and again did not clear the table on my side. I had to take my plates and place them on the bar myself in order to clear my side. After dinner, my coworker and I decided to have a small digestif. We ordered some mezcal, neat. After taking the order, the server decided to go into the back for 5-10 minutes. It would take seconds to pour the drinks and serve but again, perhaps, we were being punished with delay. In any case, we eventually got our drinks after some time. This was all during a time when there were three tables and three servers, although one was shadowing another for training so technically two. Regardless, the service was very poor considering the prices. The food is ok but hardly worth the price and the service is definitely lacking. Mediocre food can be made great if service supplements what is lacking. Service is as important as the food served and if service fails, it doesnt matter how good the food is. Parking: Parking located in a shopping center and readily available.

Solid, not life changing, but good! The birria is definitely the star, the meat is juicy and flavorful. Rice and beans are ok. We also got the guacamole, and it comes with 3 tostadas, and it definitely needs to come with 5-6 of them. Super adorable interior, and surprisingly no wait at 6pm on a Friday. The waiter and bartender were great. Not life-changing Mexican food, but Id recommend it.

Overall: This is a great place to get nice food and drinks. This place has so much potential and id love to see it packed on a Saturday night. I love going out for drinks and this place will be on our rotation from now on. Atmosphere: My bf and I came here on a Saturday night around 9:15 pm. For most of the meal, we were the only people there. It s a beautiful restaurant with a beautiful and well stocked bar. It was kind of awkward halfway through the meal because they turned off the music and it added to the fact that no one was there. I was confused because I thought they were closed and we were overstaying our time because of it. We wanted to get another round of drinks but we elected to leave because it was awkward. Service: Jayden was our server tonight. She was so kind and knowledgeable of the menu. I appreciated that she took the time to explain everything to us and showed genuine enthusiasm for the dishes and drinks. They offer Acquia Panna as their water which is always a good sign in a restaurant, especially since corpus tap water is horrible. Drinks: Fantastic and a great value!! For the quality, drinks are so affordable. Not pictured, but we also go the mole Manhattan. They served it with a Luxardo cherry so that was a great sign. It featured mole bitters which added a nice spice flavor (maybe star anise or cinnamon) to the drink. Pineapple pisco was delicious. It had a good amount of alcohol and it wasn t too sweet. It was the second time I had pisco and the sourness of the pineapple and the egg white foam complemented it well. About $10 - $15 a drink. We moved here from Dallas and this establishment was comparable to some of the places we frequent (like Paradiso but cheaper lol). This bar alone should be keeping the place packed at night but for whatever reason, this isn t the case. Our server explained that this area is a residential area with an older population but that shouldn t matter because Corpus Christi is small to begin with so it s not like people would have to drive far to get here. Perhaps people don t know about it? Or maybe cocktail bars aren t popular here? Food: food was delicious! Jayden recommended the Queso fundido to us which was excellent. The salsas it came with were great and had a good spice level. Agua chile had a beautiful presentation. I do wish the shrimp had absorbed more of the flavor of the liquid. Robalo was so good! I love a whole fried fish and I m so glad we ordered this. It was more than enough to share. They only gave us 2 corn tortillas with it though so next time I hope they offer a few more. The carnations as decorations were kind of unnecessary though. We will be back and I hope next time this place will be packed as it should be! Parking: Parking lot is super dark and empty at night

After standing a while a staff member came and asked how many, left and was chitchatting at the bar. Second staff member came and asked if we had been helped we said yes but they left and never came back. So then that staff member leaves. A third staff member comes and asks how many. At this time we decided to leave. You need to do better.

Yall really need to try the Mexican dirty martini - I cant remember the correct name of this drink, but it has tequila and mescal and it is great. One drink will put you in a nice mood. Try this place - you will not be disappointed. Its not your typical south texas Mexican restaurant either. You k iw, its different than the thousands of jalisco and Guadalajara joints. The blue tortillas are outstanding. Ask for those with your plate. Also - poblano supe is fire.

This is my 3rd time eating at Yolas and so far it has being great. My third time eating there i went with my son, I order the carnita tacos, I am from Mexico city so I was expecting authentic carnita tacos, they werent the taste was ok, but not authentic, it had a taste more like pastor taco flavor. My son order the diabla shrimp they were o.k. not spicy at all. Service was poor. He never ask if our food tasted good, the past visits service was great. But this time we feel that he was paying more attention to other tables then us. Dont get me wrong I do recommend Yolas but not 100% Mexico city authentic style food. The chicharones with salsa are the best!

TLDR: Best Mexican food in Corpus Christi. 10/10 Despite being an architect and someone who operates in the world of culture, I generally avoid designer restaurants- especially for Mexican food. Usually, I just go to the nearest hole in the wall and convince myself that the food was good. Unless I have a meeting with a client, I usually dress very, very poorly to blend in with the local populous and generally want to be left alone and not seen, so stepping to a place like this can be intimidating, lol. But since my Instagram algorithm had been feeding me videos of really proper tacos from all over the world, I decided to not suffer the usual bad Corpus Tex Mex and go for some real stuff. Being from San Diego, California and having grown up eating predominantly Mexican food, my standards are pretty high. I have also eaten Mexican food in almost every Mexican state. That is a conversation for another time (California vs. Mexico vs. Texas Mexican food), but I m just laying down my credentials. Anyway, it was late on a rainy Thursday night, so I felt like there wouldn t be a crowd of hipsters or loud people, so I drove over from my house a few blocks away and went for it (after 2 years of avoiding). I was aware the owner had some other businesses including something with tile, so I knew the interior would be pleasant, which it was. I could go deeper into the interior design review, but I ll save that for later. The staff were really nice and easy on the eyes. I ended up ordering the Birria (to be trendy) and one Al Pastor taco on the side. Birria on corn tortillas with refried beans and rice and a single Al Pastor taco on flour just to see if they knew what they were doing. The Al Pastor was exceptional. Yes, they did do the annoying south Texas thing where the flour tortilla is as thick as damn Indian naan bread, but in this case it was actually really good. Birria was crispy and cheese was good. Rice had good flavor. The refried beans were like a hip, homemade black bean version with that classic white cheese on top- very good. And I tried all the salsas. The orange habanero and green were the best. I don t like verde, but I really liked the green salsa in this case. I will definitely have to come back to try more menu items. Great job. I think they could do equally as well, in a more efficient, Fordian arrangement- like an In and Out or like some of the Los Angeles and San Diego places, where it is less sit down and less experiential and more about the food alone but I guess that sit down, vibe aspect gives it a draw. And people do drink alcohol. What I am saying is the food is good alone. The design is a secondary nice plus. Best authentic Mexican food in Corpus. 10/10

I arrive and they give me my receipt and they said they would not give anything because it was not in the receipt. I asked to talk to a manager to speak futher about my concern and they said that she/he is not available. They could have said that on the phone as soon as they notice the iteam was not on the receipt! Horrible experience! Check your receipt and order, dont trust what they are repeating back to you because apparently they can write down what they are saying.

Update: 5 stars now! I had given 3 prior but Ive been back a couple of times this year and everything has really been ON POINT! The drinks were extraordinarily good! On our latest visit we ordered the poblano soup, flautas, and chicharones with lots of drinks and were very satisfied! If a really cool vibe here! So a few months ago my son and I ate lunch here and absolutely loved everything we ate! We ordered the birria, the flautas de res, chicharon y salsa, and tres leches... All delicious! Tonight 6/16/2021, the drinks were good but our server gave the wrong drinks to the wrong people. We started drinking them then just had to like... Switch with our neighbor! Next, I ordered fideo with shredded chicken but she brought me the fideo with a whole piece of bone in chicken. Ok, not so terrible but its kinda difficult to eat with it being bone in and in a bowl. So I was trying my best and didnt want to tell her but she noticed and then told me to just give my bowl to the other person at the table after Id already been trying to eat that piece of chicken! I didnt. I just made the best of it. They were out of guac, out of fideo so she couldnt fix our order, and out of the only drink we wanted to try. We ended up drinking margaritas and they were ok. Just a rough night. Ill prob try again.

Its so nice to find an authentic, upscale Mexican spot here in Corpus. My stomach cant handle the greasy tex-mex restaurants anymore and the food here is so fresh and delicious. The Al pastor & asada tacos, and guacamole are my favorites! Weve been a few times just in the last month because we keep craving more.... now that I mention it I may pop in for lunch :)

My experience was a private party on a Saturday night. The food was good. The family style was really short of being enough for the big group she had. The room we were set in was hot and the chandeliers/lights kept flickering so bad it was giving us a headache. The seating was a long table that held 14 guest. One side was a long bench to seat 7 people which was so slippery and sticky for those sitting on that side. If one person wanted to get out, the entire row would have to slide out. It was not comfortable, but the other side of guest were seated in chairs. The entire time we ate we had knats flying around our heads and food. It was just a huge annoyance. Over all food was good, but overpriced in my opinion. For me and my husband we paid just for the food $70. Which included: small portion of beans and rice and a pinch of the fajitas that were put out for family style. We probably could have had lots more food if we were given the choice to do without family style but thats how they do partys over 12, I guess. Service was okay. We were left with empty cups of water for awhile until we found someone. I feel this place is a good spot for couples to enjoy lunch but as far as big parties, it could be better seated and lights need to be taken care of. Overall, I would go back with less people.

Their margaritas are probably the best I have had, they make their own mix and they taste so fresh. We have been here several times and will be back!

Yola was very good! Bella was our bartender and server, husband asked for drink recommendations and got good feedback and tried their Old Fashioned and was great, I had the Mojito-very refreshing! Food was good, we had the Queso Fundido and Shrimp Ceviche, very good but the question could have been creamier and more temperature hotter, but cheese and chorizo is always a good idea! Entrees ordered were the Birria and Enmoladas. Delicious! My second drink was the best though! Discussing cocktails with Bella she mentioned different flavors of Mojito, took her up on a Watermelon Mojito, and it was so delicious!! I recommend this be on the cocktail list for the Summer!! So light, refreshing and fabulous!!

This place was good, there cuisine is little different than traditional Tex Mex, which i think is refreshing. Its more like real Mexican food from the deeper parts of Mexico I think. One thing I think they should change was that they bring you these big bowls of Spanish rice to accompany your dishes, they are share size portions, big size, that would be great IF the rice was good, its god awful . Its mushy and the taste of cumin is so dominant that I couldnt eat it, BUT HERE IS A SECRET, so glad I found out, I asked our server if there was another kind of rice or pain white rice instead and he says NO , but would you like a CORN CUP instead? I looked around like if this a joke? Because I personally love corn cups over Mexican rice so of course I said , yes. All Im gonna say is delicious it had your traditional corn cup ingredients just like the street cups from Mexico, mayonnaise, chili powder, grated parmesan cheese , butter omg it was the best, and it had a little spicy kick to it , not too much . So that was a surprise after the disappointment w the rice. I really hope their chefs read this because that rice has got to GO! It was terrible .... But other than that the rest of food was very good. There was no wait time and we were starving because we had originally gone to another restaurant but their service was so bad we had to leave after waiting for 2 hours and never be seated !!! That put all of us in starving mode so it was great we didnt have to wait here at Yolas. The drinks from the bar were also really good, definitely strong , but good. I would go there again because Im definitely getting a corn cup gladly instead of the rice !

Terrible quality and service, I messaged Yola over 2 weeks ago on Instagram, they said they would check cameras and manager but never got back. I was so disappointed in their service, when I first moved to Corpus I was so happy to have found Yola. Authentic Mexican cuisine that s what I loved the most, truly one of my favorites restaurants until our last visit. We ordered Queso fundido but then get store bought microwaved tortillas, not the regular freshly made tortillas. The meat on the tacos was mediocre, plus everyone in my family got taco dishes and the tortilla was falling apart! Drinks took forever, it was a special night for celebration and it just turned out to be something else. We paid for an expected quality and it was truly not met!

I was totally disappointed with this our last visit. My family and I went for dinner and all we ordered was terrible quality. To start on the menu, they offer you handmade tortillas, which is not true, they gave us commercial tortilla heated up in the microwave, so poor quality that it fell apart when trying to grab the taco. Asada tacos, tough meat with no flavor, just like the chicharron tacos. The gorditas tasted alright. Also, the wait time on our drinks was long, we first received our appetizers and then the drinks and to top it off at the end, a cockroach under the table. Regarding the tortillas, I understand that they may have run out, but it is something that they have to let the customer know. We told the waiter about the tortillas and he just responded oh they are not? you should know better than me he didnt care to go and check or ask about it. In general, I dont know what happened with the restaurant, we have been there before but we had never had the experience of this occasion. Cockroaches are a very critical health issue. This is our last time at this restaurant. I really hope they pay attention to these details because from my previous visits, I had very good impressions with the taste and authenticity of the food, but not this time. This is supposed to be a gourmet Mexican restaurant and expect the quality of it.

I had two glasses over ice and was lit ALL day (extreme jitters). If youre sensitive to coffee, stick with the tea. Vegetarian options: While there really isnt anything strictly vegetarian on this menu; one could easily craft an option to be vegetarian. Such as the refried black bean enchiladas with some alteration/substitution. This isnt really a restaurant Id say has too many options for a very strict vegan. Parking: Ample parking Kid-friendliness: You could definitely bring a kid here even though it is much more of an adult vibe.

I had been to this place once before and I thought the food and drinks were amazing. However, last week I made an online reservation about a week ahead for a party of 15 people for my own birthday celebration and I was told the event coordinator would be reaching out. I was never contacted so I decided to call the following Wednesday 7/20 at 4:13 PM and I spoke to a man who told me that they had my reservation down, but it was under a different name and phone number. I asked him if he could replace it with my actual name and phone number and he hastily said they would get it taken care of and just tried to get me off the phone as quickly as he could as I m assuming they were busy. I arrived on Friday 7/22 with half of my party and I was told that there was a complete mix-up with the reservation and they actually gave it someone else. I was then told there was nothing they could do because they were booked that night, and that is totally understandable. What is not understandable is that I was never reached out to and I actually had to call for literally nothing to be done and have my birthday plans ruined upon my realization that I didn t actually have a reservation. I was excited to eat there again, but after how I was treated by the event coordinator and whoever the man was that I spoke to, I don t think I will ever eat at this place again nor recommend it to anyone. If you re looking for great service, you probably should go somewhere else just like they told me to.

The restaurants environment is very nice and classy, but thats probably the only attraction. The items may be listed in Spanish but labeling the food as authentic Mexican is an insult. Our table ordered verdes enchiladas, tostadas and fideo which were all very, very bland. The enchiladas were sour and peppery to the point where i couldnt taste anything else on the plate. This wasnt the best experience. I ordered fideo con pollo and my boyfriend had the enchiladas verdes. The fideo tasted very watery and the noodles had a texture that felt like they had been sitting in the soup all day. The chicken in the soup was very good. It had a nice char and was plentiful. Best part of the dish next to the beans and rice. The enchiladas verdes was very difficult to eat. Very sour too much lime. After the third bite, it started to go down like bile but it was not my dish and my boyfriend chose not to send it back. Thats on us. The server told us most people feel that way and to top it with crema to make it more palatable. That seemed to help a little but it wasnt a perfect solution. As soon as we got home, my boyfriend had a major stomach ache amongst other stomache related issues. We ordered more tortillas for the rice and beans because those were genuinely delicious but we didnt receive them till we asked for the check 20 minutes later. This restuarant was NOT busy during our Saturday evening visit. We were the only table on our side of the restaurant. We could hear the waitresses giggling in the kitchen. For the price, the service, and the stomache ache, I dont recommend this restuarant.

I really liked my dinner, however my husband did not. The Al pastor tacos I got were delicious. The refried black beans were great. However my husbands molé enchiladas were very strange. I tried them as well and we felt like it wasn t true molé. For dessert we split a pumpkin empanada they had. They were so soft and full of flavor! I did feel we spent too much money for the food. This is one of those fancy Mexican food places.

bad experience. looks nice on the outside. staff not so nice. was waiting with my girls for the restroom since its only one bathroom and was told by a staff member, the manager to be exact, bringing another lady to bathroom so move because we were hanging out and people needed to use the restroom. did some hand movement to move along. found that very rude i didnt know the restroom had a time limit. and to top it off we were celebrating my daughter s 12th bday and ruin the day with that. dont know why they have someone like her as management. really unprofessional of her.

Not from the area came to stop in for my sisters birthday. Very iffy staff members, servers always smiling and greeting. For being a so called Elegant restaurant and having a one stall bathroom & then being told by a lady named Lauren has the audacity to say we are hanging around the bathroom very rude when we as a family we re waiting then the lady don t know if she s a manager or a worker. Non Professional way to approach the situation in this place of business. I m very disappointed & probably not be returning to this place of business due to lack of experience.

Literally the best cochina Mexicana restaurant we have ever eaten. Quite possibly the best tasting food we have ever had. We started off with the queso fundido. Then had the Barria Tequria and Camarones A La Diabla. Every bite was delicious. My husband thought the Mole Manhattan was the best cocktail hes had. Kudos to Ray and George for the excellent cocktails! Alan, our server, was fantastic! Highly recommend this restaurant!

Authentic, interesting, high quality mexican dishes Update: Weve been here at least four times now and the quality is still there. Service is friendly, food is quick. Had the privilege of talking with the manager, Lauren, this time while while she was helping the servers keep things moving. Try the fundido and the guac (yes seriously). Its moved into my top 5 restaurants in Corpus
