This aquarium was a nice experience, I particularly enjoyed the dolphin show. The facilities were well kept and the animals were fun to see. The self guided tour seemed to be over too soon! I gave it a four star only because I have toured Ripleys Aquarium in Gatlinburg Tennessee and it is far bigger. The staff at the Texas State aquarium were very helpful and kind.

The aquarium was lovely. There were many excellent exhibits and all the aquarium staff were eager to answer questions and share their knowledge on the various sealife housed inside. The splash pad was a great end cap to the day. My child thoroughly enjoyed. The price is definitely worth it, you could easily spend over 4 hours here or more. (We got $5 off each our adult tickets for staying with the Courtyard by Marriott).

This is by far the best Aquarium weve visited, and weve been to several in Texas. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. We were just speaking among our group at the sea turtle tank and a very nice staffer introduced us to Pickles and how long sea turtles can live, how old Picked was, etc. It was a nice interesting and informative interaction. We overheard another staffer explaining a shark encounter experience to a group, and we cant wait to sign up! I didnt even know you could! The aquarium is laid out nicely, There are many exhibits with various sea life, reptiles, and birds. They even have a really great newly remodeled splash pad. If you have children, this is a must! We take the kids, go through the exhibits, and then finish at the splash pad on the way out. My daughter lives in Corpus and has a membership, so I just get my ticket online and we have a great day. We go every time I visit, which is often.

While expensive, the Texas State Aquarium is the largest Aquarium in Texas and the fourth largest in North America. For that reason alone its sheer scope and size is stunning. From the moment you pull up to its admittedly odd location, youre greeted with an ornate building and beautiful statues of our sea life. Genuinely one of my favorite places to just sit and watch the most impressive and immersive exhibits. Id be here regularly if it werent so pricey! That being said its a great experience and a top recommendation for anyone who loves learning or loves our sea life!

The Texas State Aquarium is always a hit with the whole family! The kids loved seeing all the sea creatures up close dolphins, sharks, and even a few stingrays we got to touch (don t worry, theyre the safe kind). I was blown away by how much we all learned while still having a blast. The Gulf of Mexico exhibit is super cool, and the whole place is perfect for a fun, laid-back day. Definitely worth the trip if youre looking for something to do with the kids!

Visited here with our 2.5 yo son for the first time. The entry fee is quite substantial, almost totaling $100 for us 3. We did not know there was an accompanying splash pad, which would have helped offset the costs of entry. The aquarium itself was well staffed and clean and our son enjoyed learning about all the fish and animals they had.

It s expensive but it s worth it - sharks , dolphins sea turtles, stingrays gorgeous sights so much room even on weekends , and all the animals are rescued and rehabilitated- at least that s what they tell us. I mean dolphins up close. It s worth it for that alone.

My fiance and I make a point to visit the aquarium once a year because its not just the best aquarium in Texas, but one of the best weve visited in several different states. We like it so much, we considered having it as our wedding venue. We decided to go with a venue in a different city but I wholeheartedly recommend this aquarium to those needing a large event space. The aquarium has reasonable prices and incredible views from the Canopy and Citgo Skyline room, along with catering and bar service packages for purchase. Plus, the event coordinator, Sergio, was very accessible via email and phone. You can even add on an animal interaction experience, which would be a fun opportunity for attendees to any hosted event. Even though our event will be in a different city, well be sure to return again next year to see all the exhibits.

We drove from San Antonio on August 12th. We specifically went for the waterpark because my granddaughter loves it. She has special needs, so we didnt want to go on the weekend when it is very crowded. You can imagine our disappointment when we got there and saw that the water park was closed. It is a mystery to us why it would be closed when school is still out for many kids and its 100 degrees outside. The aquarium itself was disappointing as well. Quite a few empty exhibits and the heat made it unpleasant to be outside. It was too hot to enjoy the dolphin show. Also, price for aquarium minus waterpark is the same. With parking we ended up paying $169.00 for two adults, a child and a senior. Definitely not worth it!

But the exhibits were well maintained and the animals seemed taken care of. The location is good and the outside views rock. The dolphins were fun, and feeding the flamingos. The splash pad was an unexpected bonus. The gift shop is pricy, but at least its going to the animals. All of them are very fun and informative. Feeding the stingrays was the best and so cool! The gift shop is super pricey, so save some $$$ if you plan on buying souvenirs. Everyone that we came in contact with was very friendly. And FYI if you have a handicapped or elderly individual in your family. They only have 5 wheelchairs to use while you are visiting so I HIGHLY recommend getting there early if you need one as they are first come, first served. We got there right at opening and there were 2 left. Overall, it was a very pleasant and fun experience! We did not get to use the splash pad while we were there but it looked amazing!

There are also multiple informational shows/talks at many of the exhibits including ones about sharks, otters, and turtles. There are many interactive experiences such as shark and ray touch tanks and flamingo feeding. All of these talks and experiences are also free! The aquarium also seems to be very conservation minded and even runs its own sea animal rescue.

I took my fam of ten (6 adults, 4 kids ages 6 & under) to the aquarium. Walking around through it and seeing all the sea life was quite a treat for the kids especially. Their favorite part, of course, was the dolphins! The trainers and the dolphins put on quite a show - and we all got a little bit wet! Sorry I was so caught up in the moment I forgot to get any pictures.

We had a great time at the aquarium. It was a beautiful day to go, and throughout the day, we had light rain showers. As we went through our journey, we found several areas where we could actually touch the animals, such as the bamboo shark, the epaulette shark, and the horn shark. We also touched the small stingrays on the second level by the henna tattoos and the stingrays located outside. There was also a location where we could touch the TOP of a jellyfish.

We always buy tickets and parking in advance and have been coming once a year for the last 10 years. Prior to kids and now with our kids. We love how this place rescues animals. The animals look well care for and the place is really clean. All the money we spend on the tickets and gifts from the gift shop or food. Is all money well spent knowing its going right back to them to maintain the animals and fish and rescue efforts.

.. Must edit my post after the disrespectful way I was treated today and take back my 5 stars. Im usually not met with so much blatant snobbery. Hopefully, they address the issue at the front member podium, prior to entering the building. She needs to be taught how to talk to people or find another job. Im old enough to be this girls mother, in fact, I have 2 daughters her age but she talked down to me, in a demeaning fashion, as if I were garbage. I was offended and became stressed and angry when she started acting like I was a problem and not giving me a chance to get my membership card out. I hope she has the day she deserves, as she cost 3 innocent children from getting to play at the splash pad, they had been looking forward to, just because she decided to be prejudiced and create a scene were there neednt to have been. The other staff automatically assumed I was the problem when I approached the front desk, trying to explain what I had just experienced and I was not listened to. They talked on top of me. When I called to make a complaint, they talked on top of me, and even to other people while I was talking!! I had to talk to 2 different people before I was finally put through to someone willing to let me speak, and hear me out!! Also, I dont know if they have a dress code for staff but she (girl at outside podium) was wearing so much makeup, (poorly), she looked comical. Extremely unprofessional all the way around. I wont be renewing my membership.

Average aquarium mixed with water splash for kids, will have less dining options. One time visit for the dolphin show, Caribbean, and the other sections.
