They had some alligators last time I was there. Be careful around the pond. SNAKES! Walking the trails I saw at least 3 snakes, 2 of which were poisonous. And coat yourself in mosquito spray.

Great atmosphere and trails, unfortunately they now have an alligator living in the pond! About 4ft long in body. It was not afraid of me. Update, the groundskeepers got the alligators relocated. However, be aware this is a wildlife area. The last outing I came across a cottonmouth (it slithered into one of the network of swamp pools) however, the a few turns later a very aware copperhead raise itself in strike mode. Definitely wear thick boots, and I would think twice about taking kids on the back trails. In total Ive spotted a lot of snakes - 6. Only two were poisonous.

Its a nice decent space. The pond, the trails, it seems inviting and all well put together and fun. The rec center seems nice and very good in their offerings, but I prefer my visits to be for fishing. Its clean and convenient, and the pond is nothing too giant as well, so getting around it is reasonable, too.

There were a couple gentlemen fishing. The restrooms were super clean and right there at the entrance. Today we went and there was part of a dead animal in the dog park. There were feathers everywhere and part of the wing of some kind of animal in there. .

Great park tucked away from 336 with two big fenced in dog parks. They even have hoses and a big bowl for filling. City police keep horses here, so thats something for the kids to check out. Theres all kinds of pavilions and an indoor center as well, but Ive only utilized the dog parks so far.
