Did not know where to park for this place but decided to park at the public library (I guess this is where people park for this historical place too?). Saw the Lone Texan monument. Was nice to also walk the paved loop trail around the water and admire the flags and different memorials. Probably will be nicer also once the current construction finishes. Glad we made it here.

an honor to all of those who gave birth to the great State of Texas according to the Conroe Mayor. Based on what I see and read, no mention of the Tejanos..Delete all. Flags ok but words on plague seems like a Confederate plaque that wants to take too much credit. FYI, the flag come and take it in reality was came and took it The Mexicans and Texans did the same, killing without mercy and leaving bodies to rot. Most of the TEXICANs were illegals and promoted slavery. Texicans and Americans from America killed and tracked Mexicans and even killed the drummer boy in San Jacinto battle. This monument is great if you are a TEXICAN. The Texans give themselves too much credit since Pres Polk engaged on a war that took (stole) the rest of Texas with or without the TEXICAN sacrifices. But thats war, winner takes all.

My dad, Jim Walker helped create this park so I am a bit biased but the park is wonderful. It is convenient for travelers and locals, is historically significant to Texans, and is very well maintained. The statue in the center of the flag ring is gorgeous and the plaques at the base of each flag pole provide detailed info about each flag and how long and why it flew over Texas.

The Texians who volunteered to fight were a rag tag, undisciplined and opinionated bunch not good with taking orders and certainly not well trained in military tactics. Some like Davy Crockett, Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin, William Barrett Travis and Jim Bowie would become household names. But the common man that volunteered and fought for freedom is who we honor here today. The bronze sculpture before you represents a veteran of the Texas Revolution three years after the battle of San Jacinto and on the day the Lone Star Flag became the official flag of the Republic of Texas. He has walked up a hill, dressed in a mixture of his best and some from his fighting days. The red sash is from the newly formed Texas army. They tied their sashes on their right hip; every other army tied theirs on the left. He plants his flagstaff into the ground remembering bitter defeats, fallen brothers, countless struggles and that final victory as he looks into the uncertain distant horizon as if to say: Come and Take It

Great place to visit in Conroe. Its also next to the public library. The way it set up is really nice, first you go through the history of the Texas flags and then walk through the memorial loop gor our fallen soldiers. Well done. They had flags all around the pond through the loop pathway. Its worth to visit and reflect the privileges we have.

On my trip to Conroe for a wedding, my daughter and I stopped here to take in the Monument. I would have hibernation this a better rating, but the flags were not up. It was only an empty flagpole behind the plaque describing the flag. Otherwise a nice and informative park. Maybe next time I drive through, Ill stop again.

Enjoyed what I saw, and was infuriated a section was closed due to vandalism. Vandalizing monuments that are dedicated to those who fought, died and served to preserve our freedoms do NOT deserve this. I hope the camera caught those who did it and make an example of them!!! Ya gotta draw the line here! As far as all the other things there, it was an enjoyable experience. I recommend everybody visit this. Especially those who served.

Thank you Conroe for always being there in ways most people dont even notice.

When in season, Texas Blue Bonnets amass at the foot of the footpath. A note about the Flag that Im holding: this Texas Flag travels the world over with me. I fly it proudly in all my lodgings (first choice is in the window, so all can see).
