This academy is always so disorganized the she shelves are completely in stocked. There are also almost no employees on the floor, and the ones that are there look so burned out that they just don t care. This is a management problem, not the staffs fault. I think the only reason this store is as busy as it is has to do with zero competition in the area. You are kind of stuck with them.

Was in there for about an hour and a half. shopped for bikes no one came over to see if they could help had a huffy bike with no price guess you didnt want to sell it. Went to work out equipment had no help. Went to side wall and a guy was sitting on some boxes playing a game on his phone guess he had better things to do while getting payed. Same thing in shoes nobody around. And koolers ,so I left the store to spend my money elsewhere thanks

I will NEVER shop here again. I bought shoes that caused me so much pain I had trouble walking after 6 hours at work. I out on my old shoes. There was a little dirty on bottom shoes but my return was refused. I cleaned the dirt off and took a screen shot of the soles of the shoes off Academys website. No one could show me where the wear was. They offered to exchange the shoes for the same ones! If I wore those shoes any more I would be in the ER and on crutches! I used to shop here all the time but never again!

Good variety of products, but pretty sad that they only acknowledge military appreciation at certain times of the year. All other businesses acknowledge military appreciation year-round. And now that Covid is done, medical and first responders arent appreciated anymore. Disappointing.

Employees arent very knowledgeable about store procedures and pay options. Thats the first issue, a bunch of people coming around doing nothing. I called the store to ask about a product before going over there. I was told to check online because the employee doesnt recall seeing the item in store. I guess its asking too much for him to walk the 10ft and physically check if the item is there. This place has gotten absolutely ridiculous. Then come to find out they took away the veterans discount. Thats because they are pushing the Academy credit card, no thanks.

Just found out today that the new Academy manager decided to remove their 10% veterans discount. I wonder if they advertised that or let it slip under the rug. Standing at the checkout with a huge line behind me was am awesome way for a lot of people to find out. Good luck with that. I left all the stuff on the counter and walked out. I literally just read this last sentence on another veterans review before posting mine. I will also be taking my business somewhere else and would encourage other Vets to do the same.

Went to Academy to purchase a hat. If youve been to Academy, you know that it is a large sports store with plenty to choose from. Its also great to check out when they are changing seasons and jackets and sweaters go on sale. You can get a really good deal. Store is extremely clean, organized, and there are plenty of workers there to help you and check you out.

Nice and very helpful staff. Plenty of camping and fishing gear for the coming summer. Good place to buy ammo or mags, they have both handgun and long rifle ammo and mags, plus the firearms. No range so no test shooting.

Its ok, its turned into more of a sports apparel Store so its lacking in diversity with regards to fishing and hunting gear but its all we have here around College Station. Jan 6th 2024 update-Its like going through a maze just trying to check out. Finally my cashier was extremely enlightening as to what academy thinks about its customers. I asked why there were no self check outs and he stated too many people would steal suppressed I said youre telling me your customers are thieves? He stated many are yes. I am grateful for his candid response and after 30yrs, I will no longer shop this location.

It s 10 minutes after 1 PM and I have been trying for the last 20 minutes to get someone to answer the phone at this location. I have gone through their automated menu, and I ve also hit the zero button multiple times hoping to talk to anybody. Unfortunately, this academy obviously doesn t want any more business than they already have or else someone would answer. I was looking to purchase three hunting cameras at $99 each. I guess they don t want my $300+tax. Waste of my time!!!!

Academy has a great selection of sporting goods. However, there is one procedure that is followed routinely at the store I go to that is a significant problem for me. I have a small foot and wear a men s size 8. Academy uses the size 8 of all their shoes as the display models. Frequently, Academy has no other size 8 on stock for most of their shoes other than the display model, which is not for sale. If they are going to use the size 8 for display, they should order an extra pair or two of size 8s, so they have some typically available to purchase.

I see a shift in merchandise available for women. There is never much to expect in the rugged shoe selections. For real womens hiking boots, work boots or deck shoes you must go to a specialty retailer. Now that attitude is creeping into the clothing lines. The people working in the store are generally helpful when you can locate someone. The store is reasonably clean. Parking is ample, the lot was a little dark in areas but felt safe. Reconfigured checkout line makes leaving easier and Much more pleasant

I came in for a pickup and somw of the items had been cancelled, I understand it happens.But when I asked questions, the first young man was very helpful. My boyfriend came here to get his hunting license and they did not make it easy for him. Academy s cashiers apparently don t know that the military gets free hunting licenses. My boyfriend had to argue and state that disabled veterans get a license for free. After showing her his VA card she then asked if my boyfriend was disabled, which is illegal by the way. He showed her his VA card and then his missing fingers. No one should be treated like this especially as a disabled veteran, definitely never thought this would happen in Texas of all places. I am appalled that he had to go through this. On a positive note, the academy employee who prints and gives out the hunting license was very nice and helpful.

I really liked this store until August 2023. We went here to buy a swing set. They have a metal one and a wooden one we wanted the metal one we asked the gentleman and he told us they were gonna go look in the back. He came back and told us that they had the metal one well when it was time that we went and checked out, the employee told me to go move my truck up front and I did well then he comes outside and tells me after all they don t have the metal one. They only have the wooden one and if I want the metal one I have to go 30 more miles to another Academy. The problem was I was already behind on schedule and how do you have some thing on display that you don t have?
