Here for birthday dinner and loved everything about this place . Went an hr before closing so it was nice and quiet . Got street shrimp tacos and ribeye fusilli and it was so flavorful. Highly recommend this place

I stopped in for an early lunch after hearing Varsity Grillhouse advertised on the radio. It still has that new smell. It was not very busy yet, so the dining room was very quiet. There are lots of windows so its very bright and pleasant during the daytime. The waitress was upbeat and friendly. The House Fried Mozzarella was tasty. But it was served with refrigerator cold marinara for dipping. I checked with my waitress and was told that its served that way all of the time. Why??? I had the Ribeye Melt sandwich. Without the caramelized onions. And I had mashed potatoes instead of the standard fries. The meat was tasty and tender. The bun buttered and slightly toasted. While not earth shattering good, I would have this again. But then I made the mistake of having the Victory Lap Flights dessert sampling. The price is ridiculously high for what you get. I could forgive that if they were good. But they were barely meh. Small servings and overall on the dry side. *Very little fruit in the peach cobbler. *Although the cookie on the top of the oreo cheesecake was crisp and fresh, the whipped cream was sort of dry. *The banana pudding had broken up pieces of cookies on the bottom. But not vanilla wafers that have a softness to them. These were crisp and not in keeping with a traditional banana pudding. The banana on top was tasty. Id probably go again. Ill try the lunch specials next time!

The food was good. We had a mix of meals across our table and all of it was cooked well and tasted good. Our server was not very good. He seemed lost as to what was available and not interested in being there. It was very slow maybe 2-3 other tables seated while we were there. Could be a cool place with a good staff.

Excellent fun! Amazing atmosphere and perfect outdoor comfort for dining, drinks, and family fun!! Huge comfy chairs unlike anything I ve seen in town! Cool private booths for family or business privacy. A secluded quaint bar. And good miscellaneous seating for all!! Great simple menu with just the right options and served with utmost preparation and care.

I am giving this place at least one star only because service was great. Very polite and attentive staff. But I will not come again because the food is terrible and pricey. Not to mention their sweet tea and margaritas. I don t know how you mess up making sweet tea and the margarita I had was more sugar water than anything and very watery/super sweet. I asked the waitress what was the top entree to order, she told me the burger. The burger was a cheap frozen patty, the one with the engraved burnt lines at that. The fries were stale. Everyone ordered something different and everyone in my group left a majority of their food. We read the reviews and figured we d give it a chance anyway. The parking lot was pretty empty as well. After we were done eating, we were the only ones on one side of the building. I don t see them staying open for very long. For a burger/fries and chicken tacos with a side of corn, 1 beer and 1 margarita our bill was over $70.

The atmosphere and service of this restaurant was great! However, the food was hard to eat. My partner and I came on Wednesday during their $9.99 lunch special and half price appetizers special. The food tastes like it all comes frozen. The chicken parmigiana sandwich was almost inedible. The dips taste like they come frozen and all they do is microwave them like ones you get from the H-E-B frozen food isle. We were extremely disappointed and most likely won t ever come back.

We had a wonderful dinner a few weeks ago. Pearce was our server and was outstanding. We each had different items-stuffed red fish and a chicken dish with cream sauce. The portions were very generous. We also had the friend onion rings as a starter. Absolutely the BEST. We will definitely be repeat customers.

Excellent Excellent excellent experience! Catie (hostess) was very engaging and sweet, we were brought to our table quickly and were met with a swing to sit my 7 week old in her car seat on. Our waitress was beyond exceptional (Elle), she was not wrong about the specials of the day and she was very very sweet. (Haven t had a waitress this kind in a while) They were excellent and had great flavor. I got the chicken parm sandwich, and my husband the quesadilla. We also were served EXCELLENT correctly made cocktails. Normally I don t step out of my way to do a review but I had to with this place. 100% will be back!

I hope our experience was not typical. It was as if the chef did not show up and the dish washing staff was in charge of the kitchen. The place was less than half full on a SATRUDAY night in a COOLEGE TOWN! The food was late getting to the table and I could have made better at home. I dont know what was going on but that was a one and done for us. The tables around us were talking about the same thing. Some locals and some from out of town. I dont expect this place will be here in 6 mos. It is an expensive building and finishes but it the food isnt good there is no reason to go back. Pity

The ambiance is laid back with a taste of class. The dining area is bright with natural lighting and they have a couple of semi-private booths. The staff is friendly and attentive. They have a fully stocked bar and do make some tasty cocktails. We had the salmon and calamari. Crispy and delicious. The only complaint I had was that the rice was a little but other than that I recommend a stop in.

The staff were really friendly and sweet! Our waitress was really attentive, and you had the option to sit next to live music if you wanted to. HOWEVER, the food was very mediocre for the price point. Some people in our party ordered the ribeye fuscilli (I m not sure the spelling) and the fettuccine alfredo. These two pastas tasted pretty much THE SAME. Even though the ribeye fuscilli is the more expensive option. Another person in the party ordered the burger, and they were stingy with the sauce. The waitress was very kind and gave my another sauce though. I m sure the other dishes may taste okay, however for the price point I was expecting much better quality pastas.

Food was good (not spectacular). Prices are a bit high for us to go often, but may revisit a few times a year. Service was subpar. We got there at 6:20pm on graduation Saturday. We were the only ones in the main dining room. It was empty, only had four other tables full by the time we were finished. Our server brought drinks, took our order. A runner brought our food. We flagged our server down for a tea refill. After that, we finally had to ask another server to have ours bring our check, because ours never came back. She was sweet but inattentive. My girlfriend took me to dinner Sunday night at 8:30. As soon as we sat at the bar, the manager Robbie came up to us and told us can you put your order in, like right now? The kitchen is trying to get out of here, theyve had a long day. We ordered and finished our dinner at 8:50. At 9:04 we were asked to leave because the servers needed to mop and yall are in the way. The place closes at 9 and we were rushed out of there. We spent $80 for a terrible experience from the manager. Food was alright but nothing special about it. Bar service was great. We got treated this way because I was working there and the managers felt like I was ruining their night. They fired me the next day because I stole from the business for taking 2 sips of wine that werent dated and couldnt be sold. That happened over a week ago. I also told a bartender that she was cute. They took that out of context and made me look like a creeper. I was there busting my butt for them today and they didnt tell me anything to my face. I came in on my day off today to make ginger syrup and not a word was said to my face. They used me one last time before they called me to fire me.

The food wasn t bad but it wasn t good. It was okay. Nothing that we ate gave us the I will come back for this feeling that we all look for. Everything appeared to be frozen and not fresh. The restaurant sector in BCS is an extremely competitive space. This place had to be a HUGE investment for someone. I sure hope they make it. The owners might have to make some course corrections with the menu / quality of the food. In all fairness we did visit on a Sunday evening around 7 pm so maybe they were winding down. We were one of 3-4 couples eating at the time. Hopefully these guys make it and are very profitable. They are too new to be as slow as they were today.

2nd time here. Brought a 10 top. Bathrooms were so dirty, even after three of us reported it. We ordered three different items and they were out, which would have been ok but manager never told the wait staff so they could relay to patrons, I even ordered the jerk chicken and they let me order, sent it to the table without the sauce, when we asked for the sauce they came back and told us they were out of the sauce. DONT SERVE A PLATE THAT YOU ARE OUT OF SOME OF THE ITEM! beer was room temperature and they did not fix that. The restaurant was not busy. We found a roach on the floor and staff would not clean up. The owners definitely need to come in and spend time if they want it to last. With the price point they offer they will not survive if they don t change. I did email first to see if owners would get back to us because I don t like posting such bad reviews but our bill after they took some off was still $80. Didn t take any pics as I really just wanted to leave. I could go on, there were more issues and I hope they fix them.

Gotta love some nice brickwork, makes the restaurant feel cooler in these high heat days. Loved all the food, like a well-steeped America-mex-tex. Burger hit and queso was towers above Chuyss. One note: we could see the tacos being better if the Ribeye got some higher temperature for searing. It got overwhelmed by the chili sauce it gets tossed together with.

As a follow up, we were check #147 on June 29. While our first experience was great, our second was not. Our order took 30 minutes to come out of the kitchen and when it did, the food was luke warm. The Redfish Rockefeller went from one of the best seafood dishes I have had, to one of the worst. The fish was extremely dry and the Rockefeller sauce had been baked into the dish. Not sure based on the price point, if we will be back after this dining experience. First time at Varsity. Staff was very welcoming and polite. Restaurant was very clean. Wait staff was attentive and respectful. Food was excellent; we had the shrimp tacos and the Redfish Rockefeller. Greeters held the door for us as we left, which was a nice touch. Overall, we would definitely go back and would definitely recommend to others.

Really beautiful scenery, great atmosphere but the food was sub par. I had the braised short rib and I dont know what it was braised with but it was dry and $30+ just for my meal. Because of the name, I was expecting a sports bar/Walk Ons/BJs vibe inside. It is more upscale than that. The name actually doesnt seem to fit the overall atmosphere at all. It wasnt unpleasant - just confusing for newcomers. Our server Payton was great!! The steak pasta dish was excellent. The chicken fried steak was good, but a bit bland compared to all of the other food. They are generous portions, so the menu prices are pretty fair. Also, they use generous amounts of salt (which I like).

We live right down the road from here and watched as it slowly became ready for business. I was skeptical because of varying reviews, but we had an amazing experience. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was clean and very nice, and the food was hot, seemed fresh, and tasty. We started with the fried stuff mushrooms. They were verrrry yummy. I will say they were a tad too salty, but still delicious. It came with 7 which felt like more than fair for the price. We then split the burger and a side of brussel sprouts. The burger is HUGE and was cooked on the well done side which is what I prefer (but was not dry at all). My husband noted that the bun was very sturdy which is an often overlooked important factor for a hefty burger. The fries were nothing particularly special, just good old classic fries, but they were very hot and fresh! The brussels were awesome! I often dislike brussels at restaurants because they tend to be over seasoned, overcooked, and drowning in oil. But these were none of those things! I could see someone thinking they re boring, but I looooove how simple they are. It really allowed the dipping sauces to shine. We ll be back!

Couldn t wait to try this place out.. It s a clean and inviting atmosphere. The food and prices doesn t match, i honestly wanted like this place. My husband got the chicken fried steak that he said was tough and I got the Alfredo Dish which was tasteless I didn t even finish a quarter of it. The noodles were bad, salt and pepper didn t help the garlic bread was so hard and old. My daughter however liked the kids chicken tenders. For the price I expected more. Definitely a waste of money in my opinion. 2/10 for me my husband said 4/10

Was so excited to try this new restaurant! And then . I ordered two pasta dinners to go. First impression Beautiful restaurant. But when I go to pick up my order, the hostess turns around and grabs my food from a locker ! A locker? Really? I pay $27 a plate to have my food in a locker?? And yes, when I got home, mind u only 5 minutes away, it was already cold. Second, the garlic bread that came with both orders, was hard as a rock. We couldn t even eat it. Soooo disappointed. I had high hopes for this place. Varsity Grill, you better step up ur game if you want to survive.

I have eaten there multiple times and can tell you that this place is average at best. I really wanted to love this place, but it just isnt as good as everybody makes it out to be because its new in the area. Ive had multiple dishes there and the sandwiches are good and so was the salmon, but the chicken fried steak and the redfish Rockefeller was not very good. Not terrible, but we need great. I think its a cool place to hang out and have a few drinks and appetizers, but overall there are much better places to eat in College Station.

I really wanted the street tacos - I was told I could not choose more than one meat. So 16 dollar bitter season salad it was for me. My fiancé went for the chicken fried steak. He said it was good. The kiddie cups for soft drinks need to go. I rarely get refills - my fiancé how ever needed 3 while dining here. Perhaps consider leaving a kraft so we can refill on our own. I am supposed to be taking my office her in a couple of weeks - not sure if this will remain a front runner anymore

This was my first time at Varsity Grillhouse and Jaden T single-handedly ensured I will go again. She displayed incredible customer service with checking on us frequently, helping us choose which dish to order, and being incredibly kind. I think the major disappointment was that a restaurant called Varsity in a college town has only one TV in the dining area. Don t come here expecting a sports bar atmosphere! Look at the menu prices first too. The building is 10/10 beautiful, clean, very nice patio area. Food 4/10 and at those prices I expected much better. Everything was cold. Spinach dip, corn, and green beans were definitely frozen or from a can. Ordered the chicken fried steak and it was tough. For $22 it didn t even come with a vegetable. Had to pay $8 more for some canned green beans. My 5 year old said the mac & cheese doesn t taste like anything . I tried it and she was right. Kids meals had no options for vegetables either, unless you want to spend $8 more on a side. Ribeye tacos were the only good thing we had but they were also cold. We loved the look/design of the place! Hostess and waitress were super friendly. Highly recommend the cobless elote corn . However, that s all I could recommend. We ordered calamari to start and the rings and the tentacles parts seemed seasoned differently. Makes no sense but we both thought that. .Beautiful restaurant, server was attentive, food, I give it a 6.5 out of 10. Espresso martini was okay but watery and not coffee forward. Lemon drop was good. I had the Redfish Rockefeller, it was overcooked and dry, a little too cajun seasoning forward. Rice was undercooked and not much flavor..the 4 pieces of asparagus were wilted. Also had chicken fried steak was was pretty good on a bed of mashed potatoes which were flavorful but dry. And no 2nd side.. pricey dish for just CFS and mashed potatoes.

The food, service, decor, great lighting feels like an open cafe but air conditioned. The atmosphere is fabulous. Caleigh was very attentive to our needs. Love that conversation is the restaurant goal. From our table, the music was at a comfortable level and there no interruptions from TVs, so our focus was on one another. We imagine the reverberation of lots of people in conversation could get loud because of all the hard surfaces, there is nothing to absorb sound. We had a lovely experience, and we highly recommend Varsity Grillhouse. We had Ribeye Street Tacos and a delicious corn side dish, and The Birdie chicken steak sandwich with Banana Pudding dessert. Worst restaurant in college station. SO expensive. Food was cold and the portions were laughable. They sat us in the corner where it was extremely cold and the sun was blinding us as they have no window treatments. We got the spinach and artichoke dip and it was cold, came with only a few little pieces of bread and had no flavor at all. When we finished the bread pieces and still had dip left we were not offered more bread to dip with. Entrees were nothing to brag about. The worst part about this place is the drinks. Ordered a chicken fried chicken and my only side options were French fries or mashed potatoes anything other than that was extra($7-$9 for the sharable side). My food had no seasoning so it tried adding salt and pepper and it was still blah. My daughter ordered the Philly cheese steak sand and it was like a kid size portion of meat in the sandwich (didnt even cover all the bread). In a town with LOTS of great restaurants, this place doesn t match up. The positives - The atmosphere was great, it s a very pretty building. Our server was very attentive. The food came out quickly. The reasons we absolutely will NOT return. The mushroom app didn t come with the varsity sauce, as advertised, but she did offer to bring us ranch. The bar drinks took way too long to come out. They came out as our food arrived. Food was EXPENSIVE. Really pricey! My husband got the $26 ribeye fusilli. Noodles, about ten bites of meat and a sliver of garlic bread. I had the chicken fried steak - it was good, really no complaints. My friend ordered the pork chop that was supposed to come with a agrodolce sauce. It was $28, no sauce, and literally JUST a pork chop! No side! TWENTY-EIGHT dollars! She said it was good, but not at all worth the price. Disappointing!

The service and food were great. Lainey was our waitress and she was very good and answered all questions about the menu and offered suggestions. I had the jerk chicken which was delicious although very spicy and the fried brussell sprouts were outstanding. My husband had the pulled pork tacos which he said were very good along with the street corn. Really good new spot in College Station. Small dining area with lots of tables. Good food. Attentive waitstaff. Its new, so they are still working a few things out, but they are already up an running at a good quality level at right around a month open. We had the balboa and the French Quarter poboy. The varsity sauce is sweet and an interesting alternative to the usual condiments.

My Wife and I drove to College Station today to celebrate Mother s Day with our two daughters. I was ecstatic to see that a new place was opened in college station, and we had an alternative to nice casual dining besides Napa Flats. This place is amazing, and the service was excellent. I would have expected a few hiccups since it is new, and Mother s Day, but when the waiter brought refills of drinks without us asking, I knew this place would be great. We all had 4 different entrees, shrimp tacos, varsity burger, salmon, and the French quarter poorboy. Everything was wonderful, but the star of the show was a side of street corn that came with the shrimp tacos. I would highly recommend varsity grill house, and can t wait to try their dinner menue.

Espresso martini was a nice end to the meal (we did that instead of dessert). A little pricey maybe. Staff was clearly new and still working out a few kinks but that s to be expected - and they were honest and very accommodating, regardless. Only real complaint was one of our drink glasses smelled kinda gross, like dirty dish water (but the drink was good enough we didn t want to waste it/risk paying for another one). Probably also not best place to bring young kids if they get antsy or need space to move around.

Varsity Grillhouse is what Bryan College Station needed. Locally owned and family operated is something I look for. We had the Pork chop and the Red fish rockafeller. We also were able to choose shareable sides. These were both amazing. The atmosphere is really relaxing, the wait staff and management were both very attentive. I went here just the other day with a bunch of friends and we all LOVED it! I wish there was an option for more than five stars because varsity grill house absolutely killed it! The waitress was super sweet and was very helpful as she explained every dish we asked about and had a lot of patience with us! We at the redfish Rockefeller their pulled pork tacos the ribeye and the ribeye fesulli and I got to try each one of them and I can t tell you enough that I wish I could eat all 4 dishes right then! They were absolutely delicious. Went here on opening day. I felt like we were set in this big open barn with nothing to look at but a huge brick wall and a score board. We thought that this was a sports bar?
