Great service and excellent atmosphere but the food is not very good. I am not a picky eater either it just wasn t worth 60 bucks. Fajita beef had a sour flavor. The rice was mild and no flavor. The guacamole was made from unripe avocados and had a grass like flavor with very little other than avocado. Charro beans tasted like pure cilantro if you have ever experienced that before. It is sad because the establishment has everything there.

When Juanitas first opened, their food quality and prices aligned well, and it was a 10/10 experience. Unfortunately, they ve substantially lowered the quality of their food but have kept the same prices (if not raised the prices of their food). I likely will not return back to Juanitas unless they bring their quality of food back up, otherwise there are better & cheaper Mexican restaurants around town. It s just not worth the prices you pay nowadays.

I want to give a major shoutout to Juanitas. We were in town for a soccer tournament and we decided to have our team dinner at this restaurant. The manager was extremely accommodating and positive. We had 18 girls at one table and 25 parents at another. They took each individual order with precision and care and had the drinks and food out quickly. The food was fabulous and the staff was extremely friendly. Thank you for accommodating such a large party.

Happy to discuss, but does not change the fact that service was horrible and food never came out. Send me a number and name to call and I am happy to discuss.

Why, oh why, didn t I look at the ratings before trying this place? It is basically on par with Gringos: both are ridiculously expensive Tex-Mex places that are probably only acceptable for their cocktails. The portions here are a lot smaller, but slightly more edible than Gringos. There is a little test that you can try at any place to see if they are worth their salt: ask them if they have any salsa that is spicier than what they bring out if they say no, then you re in for a authentic experience. Some years ago there was a pretty good tapas place with an excellent wine list in this location called Poppy s. If it didn t survive, I don t see this place lasting very long.

Had the worst experience with restaurant and made us wait for hour inspite of having open tables. Not sure how their open table reservations work but felt the staff was highly racist and did not care to give attention and service. Food was highly priced and quantity was less too. Charges extra for flour tortillas, charged me a dollar for a tiny thing of shredded cheese. Basically tries to soak up every penny possible. Food was ehh, extremely expensive and not worth the price, I would go to another Mexican restaurant in town and avoid this one.

This restaurant is a major RIP OFF! The amount of food they serve is equivalent to a child s plate. The alcohol in the margaritas is not there (get a shot) and the quality of the food is mediocre. Find a better restaurant. Overpriced and under served. Staff was friendly - but all else was not worth your money.

Our server asked us if it was our first time and when we both said yes, we simply got an oh okay well let me know if you have any questions or need suggestions. Can I get you all started with something to drink we had maybe been sitting 2 minutes and hadn t opened either of the menus. We felt rushed the entire dining experience with how often our server came over, especially since we had never been so had no idea what we wanted. I also stated no cilantro and my meal was still served with it as a garnish all over the top of the quesadilla, I could easily scrape it off but was thankful it was not mixed in or I would ve had to send it back. Lastly I ordered the blueberry margarita, and I am typically not one to complain about a strong drink but the whole first half tasted just like tequila no matter how much I mixed it and couldn t taste the blueberry until more towards the end. Hoping if I visit again I have a better experience.

I will start by saying the service and ambiance was good but that is were it ends as far as I m concerned. I m a big fan of Tex-Mex but Juanita s was a hugh disappointment, the fajita s were horribly over cooked both the chicken and beef. The spices they used tasted more like chili seasoning than fajita seasoning, also the enchiladas and taco soup was subpar for an upscale restaurant charging $20-30 per plate on a party of 8. As far as I m concerned I will not be returning with my family if 8 again.

We went here for the first time tonight, me, my husband, and our 2 children (6,7). We liked the decor and atmosphere, but the large booth we were in had a small table for 4, and we felt cramped. We had Juanitas Margaritas on the rocks, and we really enjoyed them. I ordered the fajita beef enchiladas, which were AMAZING! My husband had a chicken burrito, which was also good. Their salsas were pretty good as well. The only reason I didnt give a 5 for the food, is because I felt their menu was small. I personally like combo plates, but I really enjoyed my enchiladas tonight! We will definitely dine here again. Go check it!!! Kid-friendliness: It was kid friendly. They had laminated kids menus with markers, which I thought was a good idea. Markers didnt work very well, but my kids didnt seem to care. The only thing my kids complained about was that their refried beans were spicy. They are very picky eaters and they ate everything on their plate.

Juanitas Tex Mex Cantina deserves four stars in my book! My experience here was fantastic - the service was impeccable, the ambiance was vibrant, and the menu had a lot to offer. The highlight was the Juanita s Margarita; it was not only delicious but also wonderfully refreshing, a perfect complement to the Tex Mex flavors. Additionally, the Salsa Verde was simply to die for, adding an extra layer of flavor to the meal. While the fish tacos could have used a touch more salt, it didnt overshadow the overall dining experience at Juanitas.

The restaurant was dead with one couple is all eating and no one at the bar but apparently the staff was to busy entertaining all the young ladies cackling up front. We did finally get in and were seated. The staff was nice but non attentive. We waited for everything. Never got drink refills as our server just vanished. Food was just sub par. Nothing special. My family and I had to worst experience at this place. Although it was game day in College Station (a morning game - we went here around 5:30), the place was fairly empty and there were plenty of open tables. The hostess told us they were only taking reservations for the night and there was no seating except outside. So, I went onto open table and quickly made a reservation since many were available. The reservation was for 5 minutes after she told us there were no tables, and it said standard restaurant seating. We walked back in and said we had a reservation and the hostess seemed very taken back. She grabbed our menus and walked us to the farthest table outside that was dirty with no umbrella. I asked if we were able to sit at one of the many booths open inside and it was a quick No. After sitting down and seeing the prices for the food that was offered, we returned our menus and left. If you prefer decent service, this is not the place for you.

Not a memorable experience. The quality of the food was average and the food and drinks were pricey. We ordered Habanero Shrimp tacos (too heavy on the breading, too dry, and the mango-jicama slaw didn t taste fresh), Chimichurri steak tacos (the meat was tender and tasty); Snapper taco (good); Mixed fajitas (chicken and chimichurri steak: both meats were grilled well and were tasty, but the side of guacamole and pico were absurdly small (smaller than a lime), the cheese and rice portions were also small. The flour tortillas were greasy. We also ordered the Juanita s Spectacular salad which came on a large plate of 95% soggy romaine lettuce, half a small avocado and 3 cherry tomatoes. The restaurant has very few vegetarian options. Overall, the restaurant is pricey, and the drinks are unreasonably expensive.

My experience was not good. Could not finish my meal and left most of it on the plates. The salad was soggy lettuce with dressing. There were just 3 cherry tomatoes and half an avocado in it; these were the only edible parts of the salad. The main course, shrimp tacos, had thick breading and were served with jicama, with a dressing that also made it them feel soft and greasy. I expect both, the salad and tacos to be fresh and have crunchy fresh veggies. Both of my plates did not satisfy it.

My partners birthday. We were greeted immediately and sat by host around 6:30pm...a basket of tortillas and hot salsa appeared quickly...20 minutes passed before we finally got up and went to the host to request he send our server over to our tabke... 20 minutes with no water...just gagging down crisp n crunchy tortilla chips and knocking em back with mucho caliente salsa...a young man informed us we were seated in the section of a server swamped with a 20 top. He came back a few minutes later, assuring us hed go ahead and be our self-appointed server. The food was great...server ad litem was great. The round ball with legs (female server) with tables all around us was not great...glad she continued to be oblivious...the kid that waited on us was good and still hot 20% tip despite host not being more in control of the server sections and seating board...and the girlswamoed by the 20 top probably skipped out in her silverware rolls and side work...food was great...peach frozen marg was delicious and necessary...

The problem with this restaurant is the food just is not very good. I love Century Square and the decore and service are keepers. But they need to fix the food that is coming out of the kitchen.

I celebrated my birthday dinner at Juanitas with friends and family who had never been. They all raved about how great the food and atmosphere was. We has Paris as a server and she took exceptional care of us. They went above and beyond to make my celebration special. So glad we chose to dine there. We will be back!

Limited menu and the rice and beans were spicy. Even on the kids menu. Kid-friendliness: They have a kid menu which is great but the retired beans and rice were spicy and I m not exaggerating. My daughter is two. Even the waitress said that they season the beans. This was frustrating as my daughter loves rice and beans. I didn t even want the rice and beans because of spice/flavor.

We had a wonderful experience and were pleasantly surprised with the food. Not your regular TexMex; the food is seasoned with many spices that reminded us of Mexico. We had Oaxaca s empanadas, combination fajitas (even this common dish was excellent), and shrimp tacos which were superb. The borracho beans were fantastic. We can t wait to come for breakfast! Highly recommended! Came for breakfast, very disappointed! They have no idea of how to make chilaquiles. Stay away from breakfast at this place.

Skip this place. Great decor but it ends there. 20 minutes to get chips and waters after being seated. Sweet n sour mix margaritas ($20 ea) are almost undrinkable. Didnt even finish mine with dinner. Food is very average. Had the habanero shrimp tacos, empanadas, queso, chicken tinga tacos and everyone left Food on their plates. And not because of portion size.

Took my son here for lunch while he was in town and it was nice. The view is neat because of all the floor to ceiling windows overlooking the pool. The queso is lacking a little. Kinda tasted like queso youd buy in a jar. However everything else was good. The chips and salsa were really good. Definitely get the mango habanero shrimp tacos! The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the flavor was phenomenal!

A rocky start, but they made a full recovery. We were sitting 15-20minutes before someone brought us water. They transfered our table to another server and then she was great. They gave us a free queso for the wait and the food was really good. I had the redsnapper tacos with their barraco beans. I thought both were delicious and the queso was excellent. Creamy with real cheese, not just melted Velveeta like some texmex restaurants. They also had free range organic chicken advertised for all of their chicken dishes as well as an extensive drink menu. I would go again for the food and hopefully the service issue was just a one time fluke! One thing to note, they only have large booths for 6+ people so if youre party is 2 or 3 youll be at a table. Theres also a nice view of the pool at The George Hotel.

High-end vibe at this Tex-Mex cantina. Bar drinks are pricey, but they do have happy hour. Queso is better if you add the beef. Worth it. Also the fajitas, enchiladas, and tacos were all fan favorites tonight. The price you pay for the food is directly correlated to the high quality of food. We also really enjoyed their refried beans. Both regulate and black (black refried was our favorite.) Located in the heart of Century Square, it s difficult to miss as it sits at the top of the green turfed area. Drinks are good and strong. Bar seating and table seating available.

Shrimp taco was very fishy & bland but they had great management & replaced the meal for a quesadilla which was much better but also nothing special for the price. We may go back for a social drink but food was nothing to write home about. Hope the menu evolves with time Location was everything!

Beautifully decorated restaurant in Century Square but we had looked online for the menu and it was completely different prices and menu items than online. So when we arrived, there are only a few things to choose from and a lot more pricey. Every great Tex Mex starts with great salsa... this salsa was not great. Tasted like Pace a little. We got fajitas and the condiment plate was so sad. Had a small dollop of sour cream, small dollop of guacamole, 2 pinches of cheese and pico... really enough for only 2 fajitas but there was a lot of meat on the plate. I had the chicken taco, which were good, but they are just as good other places for less. It will probably survive due to its location but at this time, its not really worth the money.

My cousin and I have eaten in many, many restaurants in B/CS and around Texas and the U.S. I am sure that many people will love the food here. We didnt. I rarely review a restaurant on one visit, but it will take us a long time to return. I had the mushroom and spinach rolled tortillas (enchiladas). In mine, 95% of my spinach was in just one-third of one tortilla. The mushrooms were fine but the dish was unbalanced. The cheese and sauce were way too greasy and way overspiced, especially with cumin. My borracho beans also had too much cumin. And the arroz would have been fine without a pepper that seemed burnt. My cousin had a salad with about 10 lettuce leaves about six-inches in diameter which were intact without being torn or cut. The salad dressing seemingly was thick mayonnaise mixed with mustard, cumin --again -- and another pepper. He used almost none of it.. He added the shrimp and one was delicious, the other three overcooked but he gladly ate them. So I repeat: many folks would be happy with this food. We found it over salted and over spiced. The tortilla chips were solid and the red dipping sauce was good, tasting of roasted tomatoes and a hint of garlic. That was the best of the meal and had us anticipating great things. The restaurant was not yet busy. Our server was excellent and did not question why so much salad was going back to the kitchen uneaten. We appreciated that very much.

Not impressed. Especially for the price. The food was ok but not worth what they re charging. I ve had much more flavorful food at several hole-in-the-wall places around town for 1/4 the price. Our waitress did not come around often. I had a watermelon margarita with pretty much no watermelon flavor. It really didn t taste like much of anything and was very small. Husband had a beer. The whole experience was very meh. Probably won t be back. It s just a shame that this is a prime location and really cool atmosphere and had potential to be great. Not good enough to pay $100 for 2 drinks and 2 entrees again by any means.

Let me start by saying that the wait is absolutely worth it. We went on a Friday evening and waited for approximately 40 minutes. We were then sat and waited on by Joe, who was totally informative and attentive to our needs. Ask for Joe when you go! You should also know this Juanitas is unique in that the chef cultivated its menu from scratch. Second, the entrées were absolutely, hands down, the best in College Station. Weve struggled to find good enchiladas locally and so glad we took a chance tonight. My wife ordered the Espinacas y Champiñones. I had the Tex-Mex classic braised chicken enchiladas. We both asked for the refried black beans which were fresh and full of flavor. All of it was wonderful, fresh, and hot. They perfected Tex-Mex with a focus on its Hispanic origins. Thirdly, the tres leches cheesecake was perfection. The whole cake was light and airy, including the cheesecake portion. Moist and rich, it reminded me of a cake only received at the most authentic of places. This has made its way on to our top 5 local restaurants, and absolutely our favorite Tex-Mex spot. Hats off to the chef, whos made this particular Juanitas a success. And thanks to Joe, who made sure we received exactly what we wanted!
