I have to wonder how many would have died that night had drinking and drunkenness not been such an integral part of college life at the time. That said, the memorial is extremely well done and is a fitting trubute to those who died and to all Aggies who ever took part in displaying that burning desire to beat the Hell outa tu! I hope the school brings Bonfire back in the Fall of 2024 The date of the bonfire tragedy is of particular importance to me as it was the 25th anniversary of my fathers early death. He took his own life while I was a senior at A&M - November 18, 1974.

Really touching tribute to the students who died in the tragic accident. I will say, as someone who didn t know what happened, I had to look it up afterwards. The monument assumes you ve got some sense of the accident.

FYI - TAMU claimed Sovereign Immunity for the deaths of the Students killed via the Bonfire collapse. The Parents had to APPEAL to reach a settlement. Bonfire collapsed the year before, but no one was killed that year. OSHA wouldve required a Safety Harness.

Excellent tribute to the twelve lives lost on that tragic night. I was at the stack a few days after the collapse and have been back multiple times since the memorial was built and am moved everytime Im here. Highly recommend visiting the memorial while in Aggieland. The pictures of the tributes are only of the portraits as the pics of the descriptions did not come out well. My last visit here was the day of the A&M/LSU game and want to give a shoutout to the LSU fans that came by and showed their respects.

Simple. Solemn. Beautiful. I feel the grief of those who loved. I remember the morning of the fall. I rejoice it the memories of who they were and what they stood for. Their memory shall always be alive as long as their stories survive. 100 years from that day a crowd will gather when I am long gone and remember the Aggies who died. A life well lived is a life well remembered and stories told.

This Memorial has a very somber atmosphere and is a great place to reflect upon what happened that terrible night. There are biographies for each student who died, and the stones face the hometown of each of them. Additionally, its very well maintained. This Memorial shows that A&M truly cares for their students.

Walking down the entry way, you feel like you re stepping back in time- to 1885 of course. Watch your step for prickabers and tiny snakes because the gardeners have left this area unmaintenanced. You can still feel the splinters of the old wood too.

This is a great COVID friendly outdoor activity for you and the kids or with the dog or even as a date. First off, its an easy to access place, with easy terrain, with public restrooms that are well maintained. Bonfire memorial is an incredibly important memorial to the Aggie Way Of Life so learning more about it is a great activity for your family or your date. There is a statue about the life of each student lost during the bonfire collapse. The time commitment to fully explore this is about 20-30 minutes, so easy in/out. There are big sloping grass hills for the kids to play on. From there you can easily walk onwards to other places around campus for food/drink.

First off, this place is special to our family. We pay our respects whenever we have time on our visit to B/CS. We noticed this time the asphalt that was recently laid to make it more accessible had ripples, tire tracks, and indentions that makes it look subpar for a memorial center. To have this damage noticeable so soon after the renovation should not be acceptable. Another item that called our attention was the hue of the lights used to illuminate the area, ORANGE? Our previous visits have been during the day so to see the color of the lights threw us for a loop. There may be a reason for it but we were caught off guard.

This is a very historic place on Texas A&Ms campus. It has deep meaning behind not only the inscription on the wall before entering the actual memorial, but also in the inscriptions of the 12 people that passed away that day on the bonfire memorial. A very humbling place to visit and really get a feel for how deep A&Ms tradions run at this campus. I have graduated from this university and I still come back so that I can experience these spots and traditions all over again. This is a must visit site!
