We have eaten at every sushi restaurant in town and 40 tempura is by far the best! We eat there as often as possible! Ask for the Chef Special Roll. Vegetarian options: Ask for the Chef Special Vegetarian Style Kid-friendliness: My kids love getting the kid version chop sticks.

The food was, as always, wonderful! It s also not every day that you get to enjoy an amazing dinner while having life lessons My 13 year old son and I ate there on the way to a baseball tournament out of town; during our dinner, a table beside us had a gentleman that was apparently very agitated about the service (which honestly, was stellar). He got up no less than three times and was extremely aggressive, to the point of almost shoving the Manager. The manager and his staff handled the situation so beautifully they apologized and made sure that the table had everything they needed, but more importantly, served that table with patience and grace. The manager apologized to us and those around us but there was nothing to apologize for I was able to show my son that while you can t control how other people act, you can control your own actions, and that kindness is a perfect answer. The manager especially was an example of that. Well done, and we will be back!

40 tempura is my go to sushi place in Cstat. I look for any occasion to come back. The food is such good quality - my favorites are the vegetable tempura, butterfly kiss, and Pandora roll (but you can t go wrong with anything on the menu). The owners are amazing people and I can t recommend this place enough!

Food is good, terrible service. I was short changed $16 on a pick-up order. The guy who made the mistake was rude and unapologetic. They then tried to short change me $4 after I drove back up there. I don t think it was an accident. I won t be back.

Not from around here and looking for some good sushi rolls. We were prepared to spend $60 on rolls but the host would not let us order at the bar top because we were ordering it to go wanting us to sit in the booth SUPER close to the steaming hot front door. My husband has back issues and has a hard time sitting and prefers to stand at the bar. Shame

I went last Thursday around 8:00 p.m. It was one hour before closing so the place was pretty empty. I prefer it that way so no complaints here. The hostess was pleasant, she smiled and gave us a nice greeting. It didn t take long for our server Susie to come to our table. She was simply wonderful! Professional and nice with great customer service skills. That s hard to find nowadays. Since it was our first time there we asked her to recommend a roll and she recommended the Texan Roll. So we ordered that and the Aggie roll. Those where delicious! We wanted more so we asked her for a second recommendation and she recommended the roll with thin slices of lemon on top. I hate myself for not remembering the name! It was was also delicious. Proof of that is the fact that we didn t have leftovers hahahaha. The whole crew there seem to work well together and they were all cleaning and doing the normal stuff you do for closing. I am big on cleanliness so witnessing how much they cleaned really helped with giving them the 5 stars. No place is perfect so I rarely rate 5 but this place earned it. If you live in the area or you re driving through and enjoy good sushi you have to give this place a chance. I m counting the days until I go back to try more food.

The AC has to be broken! June 2023 No free refills Great Food & Staff!!! We ate outside yesterday in the South IN JUNE because it was cooler! Two different groups exiting told us they should have done the same because it was an oven inside. They didn t need to cook the food just bring it to the table raw and it would be cooked in no time, it was that hot We enjoyed the outdoor patio and breeze! Our son did too! Great sushi and hibachi! NOTE: HUGE BUMMER IS THE NO FREE REFILLS My husband is a tall guy and hammers drinks when eating (and hot) this is the only drawback to him eating here, otherwise he d be here every night! Definitely recommend and maybe even take it to go.

My daughter and I are obsessed with this restaurant! It is now our favorite spot to go to for sushi! We love getting different appetizers and they taste so good. Susie the waitress recommended the Fantastic Roll when I asked her which one were good. And I usually always try different meals too, but I m stuck on that roll! We saw 40 Tempura after getting our mani & pedi at Q nails yesterday. We were so glad to have stumbled onto this sushi restaurant. The king salmon sushi was amazing! My daughter got the udon soup and she loved it. What I loved most is the service. The young lady who was our waitress was simply superb. I normally don t do review but they deserve a shoutout for the fresh quality sushi and an amazing service to boot. Excellent service post COVID is a rarity. We certainly notice! If my daughter decides to go to Texas A&M, we will definitely be back here again.

Best sushi place in College Station! The atmosphere is really nice, the food is great, and the service was good as well. I got the Texan Roll which was $15 for 14 pieces. I thought I would get less but it was very nice to have a good amount of sushi since it tasted so good. Quality AND quantity! Overall it s a great sushi place with a nice vibe and good service. Some of the dishes in their anthological menu are not very descriptive or do not have a description. The complication with this is when you order, say, the Tempura Bridge in front of your boss; costing him nearly $40, in addition to the other rolls and drinks you request on his dime. When it arrives you realize the bridge is not tempura-d things, crafted into a bridge adorned with sushi, its a wooden bridge decorated with various preparations of high-end sashimi and spicy tuna. But with every bite, you think Ive never eaten low-quality raw fish, so I dont actually know if the expensive cuts are that different, or if I could tell apart economy-grade salmon and this slab of orange bridge meat in a blind test. Its definitely not enough to share at a table of 9. So you power through it for the team. Of course, one could have asked the friendly staff for more information, then eaten three standard rolls for the price. 100% wonderful meal Parking: I locked my bike to their fence, and it was there when we left so thats good!

I did an over the phone order for pickup. They spelled my name wrong even though I spelled it out over the phone. They also took longer than the estimate they gave me. One roll I got (emerald) was flavorless and overpriced. They charged $14 for six bites. I will not be coming back here.

Love this place! Its a very warm and calm atmosphere. The sushi always tastes fresh and its very delicious. A great place for a date if you both like sushi. It has a very good price range if you arent trying to break the bank, and even the less expensive rolls taste amazing. The waiters are always very friendly and nice. Absolutely love this restaurant, our favorite sushi in town! I highly recommend the Perfect Bento: excellent nigiri, sashimi, maki rolls, teriyaki rib-eye, shrimp tempura! If you re on a budget we would split this plate, then if needed top off with a sushi roll, or dessert like amazing tempura green tea ice cream or mango mochi. Thanks for the great food! :)

Sushi was absolutely excellent. I had the cowboy roll and some hamachi sashimi. The sashimi was thin sliced and cut expertly and tasted fresh and amazing. My boyfriend had the happy roll and he adored it and he s not the biggest sushi lover. Treyshaun was our waiter and he also did excellent.

We decided to grab some lunch from 40 Tempura Japanese Fusion Grill. Everything was pretty great, with the exception of one thing, including the food, service, wait-time, and location. Because we visited during lunch on a weekday, it wasnt crowded thus no wait time. The location was easy to find, and there were ample parking spaces. The service was also very nice and attentive. We all wanted to order the Bentos Roll, Tempura Roll, and Sushi. The Roll Bento tasted great. The Sushi Bento was fresh. The kicker was the Tempura Roll Bento which tasted oilier than expected. I didnt enjoy eating the Tempura Roll Bento because one bite into the Shrimp Tempura, and you can feel the oil oozing out. Overall, I dont think Id visit again. Im giving service and location 5/5, but food was a 3/5 for me.

So my family and I have been fans of this restaurant for years but I will never step foot in there again after tonight. I was there with 3 ladies and we had drinks, appetizers, soup, and sushi and spent over $200 total. After 2 hours, since there was wait, the waiter came and said my manager wanted me to let you know there s a patio outside for you guys to sit and talk.. it s 40 degrees outside.. really.... so we were asked to leave!! I am appalled and disgusted at the lack of class and customer service.. We were just about to get up and leave anyway. I will never go back to give them my business or recommend them to anyone again. There are too many really good restaurants to treat customers like that.. I m seething!!

This is a very clean place and the staff are very polite. However this is one of those places where the menu is on the Internet. And you scan a code with your phone in order to see the menu. I realize that most people don t have a problem with this or even prefer it this way. But many people my parents and myself included struggle with it and/or just plain prefer quality physical menus. But unfortunately online picture menus seem to be becoming the norm. Also they do have Menus there. But they are incomplete.(for instance the physical one doesn t have any lunch section) The online one is the menu with the updated information. Good restaurant other than this.

Called and set a reservation for 8pm. Arrive, wait 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge my presence, and am told that they had other 8:00 reservations and that there was no table for me and I would have to wait. Didn t wait. Other restaurants in the city are much more competent at seating guests with reservations.

Best sushi I ve had yet in Texas. Quiet and welcoming place. Will definitely be back. My only issue is if you have to visit the restroom, it has a very off putting odor that I can t wait to escape from. Not sure why, but it was present every time I ve visited.

Update Jan 6 2021... just went here again. This place has become a favorite. I had the Tempura Roll Bento. Salad, soup, a couple of different tempura rolls, two fried won-tons, fried rice. Everything was absolutely delicious, fresh, exciting. If you like sushi, this is the place for you. If you dont, go here anyway and try that bento. It will change your mind. Initial review - I used to not care too much for sushi. Then my daughter twisted my arm into going here, and I have been hooked on this place ever since. The atmosphere is very nice, the kind of place you can go on a really nice dinner date or just for lunch in the middle of a work day. You can see the chefs preparing the sushi, and the fish looks so fresh! The College Station tempura and the Texas tempura are my top favorites.

Typically the best sushi place in College Station. Pre covid I ordered there many many times, sometimes multiple times a week. I very much recommend on the usual, but have to remove a couple stars for some issues. Occasionally the king salmon is not fresh and has brown spots. At one occasion in October 2020 it was inedible, tasted awful. They definitely would have noticed while making it, but I guess they didnt care? They can also be a bit stingy. There is an upcharge to have rolls uramaki style (rice outside), which no other restaurant does, from Sushi Zushi to Nobu.

Favorite spot for sushi in Cstat :) have only ever had phenomenal service! Tyler and Carlo are excellent and attentive servers. The sushi is always wonderfully fresh, and beautifully presented. Its a small, cozy place perfect for a quiet dinner! The easy listening classical music in the background makes you feel like youre having a spa experience

Such a cute little dinner date spot. The sushi rolls were AMAZING. I got the texan & i will continue to get it every time. Our waiter, Carlo was very very nice and on top of his game. Loved this restaurant , My boyfriend and I will definitely be back!
