Im not a person that takes pictures of food so youll have to scroll through the other reviews to see items. My husband and I went with our two Aggies (M24 twins so they eat a lot) on Labor Day. It was early so it was not at all crowded. Our server was incredible. She was attentive without being annoying. Bread was brought out and seconds and thirds of that without any of us having to ask. There were multiple appetizers ordered including the shrimp, calamari, crab cake, and Wagyu meatballs. My husband is from the eastern shore of MD so was not impressed with the crab cake but we all liked it. The other apps were really good, especially the meatballs (maybe a bit more marinara, though). Dinner was salmon, steaks, and lobster pasta. All of the dishes were superb. There was a chocolate dessert and some vanilla gelato that were ordered and didnt disappoint either. This is definitely a place we will go back to. A very welcome addition to College Station!!

Went last Friday as our student recommended. Heres my rating for each entree. I had the Spaghetti Allo Scoglio was an F. The worst spaghetti I ever had (US or Italy), too much red sauce, minimal tiny amount of mussels and clams. Hubby got the lamb rack was an A, our student got the Wagyu Alla Bolognese was an A. I had to say that I wasnt impressed and too bad as I am the one who writes the reviews. Also, the service was lacking. Had to ask twice for bread before it showed up. Had to ask for lime twice. Our server is a nice polite guy looks hes a student and def needs training. This fine restaurant for its ambience and prices should have better service and pasta. Oh and also they added an item we didnt order to our check. Suffice it to say its the last time we are dining there. We wanted a wonderful experience and it was ruined for the wrong person ;)

Went here with the wife for dinner for the first time. It was formally a Tex-Mex restaurant (a very good tex-mex restaurant). Looked at their menu options and pricing online before coming here so we knew what to expect price wise. We had reservations and were immediately greeted and seated into our booth. The wait staff and servers were all super friendly - 5 stars to them. The place looked really nice with really nice chandeliers in the middle of the room and ambience music playing in the background. They brought out bread and olive oil to start, which was nice but the olive oil was just plain. Both of us ordered the Summer Dinner (a 3-course meal package of Appetizer, Entre, and Dessert). This review is strictly from my experience and not my wifes. I started with the Wagyu Meatballs. They were slightly undercooked and slightly under seasoned. The bread that came with it was also slightly stale and tough to the bite. My entre was the Bolognese. It was delicious but it had chunks of short rib in it and the pasta did not seem fresh. As for the dessert, I ordered the Tiramisu to go as I was already full at this point. We had also ordered a couple of cocktails. At the end of the night our meal cost $150 (not including tip) for the 2 of us. Not too bad, but at this price point I dont think the flavor was there, so 3 stars. The food was good but for this price, I expect things like fresh pasta and fresh bread and fresh seasonings. Loved the atmosphere and staff, but for flavor Id rather go to Luigis or 1860. I would recommend coming here, but dont expect to be overwhelmed. I believe I will be coming back but will not get the Bolognese. My wife had the short rib and truffle potatoes and she liked her meal quite a bit.

Updated May 2024: 2 for 2! Updated pics - Salmon and Short Rib Ravioli Wow! We had no idea we now had two higher end restaurants at the Fountain. Same owners as Cas de Brazil and it shows. Soup, grilled oysters, Beef Ravioli, Beef Bolognese, drinks, even the bottled water were outstanding. We would travel to Austin or Houston for this kind of experience and yet, 2 mi from our house! I will be back to sample the fascinating whiskey list and try more of the appetizers.

I m one of those people who will be happy to pay good money for great food IF the food is great. Not a lot of people impressed with food for our Mother s Day get-together. Good for kids. Service was good but seemed disorganized. If you re going to have a high end experience, train your waiters to ask ladies what they want first guess I m just a little old fashioned. Liked the variety of drinks and they wear nice enough to split a drink order for experimental purposes.

Looking for a place to have lunch, and we passed by, almost missed it because the sign almost blended with the building itself, but we were so glad we stopped. I absolutely loved the atmosphere and the service. But when the food came, I couldnt have been happier. I dont usually order salmon because everywhere I have dared to doesnt do it justice and I always end up comparing it to mine... well, not here. I recently visited Casa Mangiare for their Easter Brunch, excited to finally try out this highly anticipated restaurant. However, my experience fell short of expectations in several key areas. Firstly, the ambience of the restaurant was delightful, creating a pleasant atmosphere for the Easter celebration. The décor and setting were inviting, adding to the overall dining experience. Unfortunately, the same praise cannot be extended to the food. While the presentation of desserts was commendable, the main dishes left much to be desired. The food was lackluster, lacking in flavor and freshness. Disappointingly, many of the dishes were barely warm, detracting from the enjoyment of the meal. One particular disappointment was the shrimp bisque, which tasted scorched and failed to meet expectations. It was evident that attention to detail in cooking and flavor was lacking. Despite having Casa Mangiare on my list of must-try restaurants for some time, I regret to say that this visit did not live up to the hype. The overall experience was underwhelming, and I have no plans to return in the future. In conclusion, while Casa Mangiare may excel in ambiance and dessert presentation, its Easter Brunch left much to be desired in terms of food quality and taste. For those seeking a memorable dining experience, I would recommend exploring other options.

Jazz and blues music plays softly in the background and the staff is capable, friendly, and unobtrusive. Delicious dishes are authentic Italian with a few concessions to American customs. My ravioli stuffed with braised beef from spare ribs was excellent, filling, and not unlike something I would find in a non-touristy part of Rome. The Tuscan salad with straciatella cheese took me back to Sienna. The fried calamari appetizer was tender with a crunchy crust. The wine list is excellent. When I want to have a special dinner in College Station, casa Mangiare is a top choice.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Casa Mangiare for their Sunday brunch, and I must say, it was an amazing experience From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the tone for the rest of the meal. The cocktail menu was extensive, and the bartender was more than happy to recommend a drink that perfectly complemented my meal. The service was impeccable. The staff was attentive and friendly, and they went out of their way to ensure that my dining experience was nothing short of perfect. From the moment I sat down until the moment I left, I felt like a valued guest. Overall, my experience was nothing short of amazing. My recent visit to Casa mangiare on Valentines Day left me disappointed on multiple fronts. The food quality was abysmal, and not to mention, the menu was set to only two options. While it did include an appetizer, main course, and dessert, it felt very much like they were choosing quantity over quality. The select appetizers were bland, and the steak and potatoes were flavorless. It felt like they d forgotten to season anything. To add insult to injury, the prices were exorbitant. I expected better value for my money. The tables were ridiculously small, I felt claustrophobic, the overall ambiance was lacking, and the dim lighting and cramped spaces made it an uncomfortable dining experience. The wait staff seemed in a hurry to turn tables. While the wait staff was wonderful, I couldnt help but feel somewhat cheated on what should have been a high quality meal. Seeing all the previous great reviews for this restaurant I want to believe that on any normal day with low traffic they would show their true potential. Im not sure if or when I will be returning.

Not happy to write this, but....let me start by saying the staff were lovely! Super friendly, attentive, and seemed genuinely apologetic for what turned out to be a bit of a let-down. Now, where do I even begin? Picture this: we walk in, excited for a fancy night out, only to be greeted by a menu with all the variety of a choose-your-own-adventure book with two options. Two! And let me tell you, those options werent exactly budget-friendly. We figured, hey, maybe the quality will justify the price tag, right? Wrong. Now, Im no food snob, but when youre paying top dollar, you expect something that tickles your taste buds, not something that reminds you of your average Tuesday night at Lubys. Dont get me wrong, Lubys has its charm, but its not exactly what I picture at a place boasting upscale. We inquired about the limited menu, hoping maybe it was a fluke. Apparently, a lot of upscale restaurants do this on busy nights. Really? Because in my experience, upscale restaurants, even on their busiest days, manage to offer a full menu, maybe with a few specials here and there. This felt more like a we didnt prepare enough situation than a fancy pants limited menu experience. Look, the staff, like I said, were fantastic. They listened to our feedback, and seemed genuinely apologetic. So, would I come back? Honestly, maybe someday. But lets just say its not at the top of my list. Theyve got some work to do before they truly live up to that fancy name and even fancier price tag. Until then, Ill stick to my Lubys Tuesdays and dream of a truly upscale experience that doesnt leave me feeling like I overpaid for something I couldve made at home. \\

Their service was top notch. Now the food - OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! Taste and flavor were superb. The soup bowls came COVERED to preserve heat, The oil swirl design on the surface of the soup was pleasantly surprising and showed the meticulous preparation efforts by the staff. The black truffle pizza smelled and tasted delicious - I can say it is one of the few places in USA where I tasted authentic italian food. You just felt it. We visited for the first time on Christmas Eve. The food was fantastic. Nice atmosphere. Great wine selection. Live music in the bar was really good. We really want more places like this in BCS. So why not 5 stars? Service. Starting with being seated a half hour after our reservation (and we arrived early) with no communication, recognition or apology from the host. Not the level of service expected from an establishment considered fine dining . To make matters worse, our server was painfully condescending. There we were, a well-dressed and well educated couple, friendly and easy to converse with, treating her politely and with respect, and from the time we were seated she seemed intent on making us feel like peasants. While we took the humor from the situation, that was not the attitude and service we expected to receive from a fine dining restaurant charging $95 per plate for the evening. We will return for the food and hope to receive much better, and respectful, service.

Walking into the dining room your breath is taken away by unexpected details. We had a team dinner and were waited on by Grayson. He was phenomenal and his team around him was attentive and kind. Our team tried the Cacio e Pepe, Braised Short Rib, & Lobster Spaghetti. We were all happy with our choices. A great new place to add to the local favorites. Wheelchair accessibility: Handicap Accessible doors. We saw a family wheel their relative in and out without any hassle.

Barely Italian at all. So disappointed. Not even top 3 Italian restaurants in the area. Mama Leoni would make meatballs from this chef. Which would be useful because they dont serve meatballs here. Well over $100/person easily & 100% not worth it despite top shelf service & atmosphere. BUT their tiramisu is maybe best ever. New chef, new menu... build it around your assets: tiramisu, amazing staff & space

Finally a fine dining restaurant in College Station! Casa Mangiare is the best restaurant in College Station in my opinion. I have been there 4 times already: excellent food, nice atmosphere, friendly staff. The wine selection is excellent. Pasta is out of this world, perfectly cooked not overcooked like in most restaurants in town. If you want to try authentic Italian pasta this is the place. We tried many different dishes and every single one of them was delicious(Australian Lamb Loin, Braised Beef Short Ribs, Mediterranean Branzino, Fillet Minion, Spaghetti Lobster ). Desserts are very good. My favorites are Tiramisu and Chocolate mousse. I highly recommend Casa Mangiare to anyone.

I recently dined at this exceptional restaurant and was truly impressed. The spaghetti lobster was incredibly delicious, the boneless lamb ribs were remarkably tender, and the tuna tartare was a unique and delightful experience. As someone who is quite selective about restaurants, I must say that this one stands out as truly exceptional. Highly recommended!

I had a delightful dining experience at Casa Mangiare on University Drive in College Station. The truffle mashed potatoes were an unexpected highlight of the meal, bursting with flavor. The pasta dishes were perfectly Al dente and incredibly tasty. However, I felt that the meal lacked a final touch, such as bread before the main course or mints with the check, which is a standard at many franchised restaurants like Olive Garden. Offering these little extras would make the dining experience feel more complete. Nonetheless, I would still recommend Casa Mangiare for its delicious food and welcoming ambiance. Four stars!

On August 3, 2023 around 9:10 pm . First, I like to say I m a former resident of Italy for more than 5 years. I sat at the bar. The service was great and the food was delicious. However, I could not help but to be uncomfortable due to the manager lack of hospitality and welcoming attitude into his newly open establishment. He acted as if I was not in the place. At this time of the evening it was only one other person at the bar and two tables with customers. I notice he spoke with other customers. As I eaten my meal , I even walk past him to use the restroom. He turn his head as if I was not in the place. I order the lobster for my main dish and espresso after dinner . Maybe he is not familiar with people of color. Such a fine place to have such an ignorant maybe even racist manager.

First experience. Food was mediocre. Menu says true homemade Italian. We just returned from Italy and this was nothing close. Had a party of 4 and we ordered 4 glasses of wine (by the glass) and was told that it was cheaper to order the bottle so we did. Turns out it was $30 more expensive to get the bottle for same wine. Disappointed to be lied to. Parents split a salad and they didn t tell us it s $8.00 extra to do that. Was shocked not to be told. Was a nice portion after the split though. They do not have any traditional salads like a Caesar. Limited menu and overall it was not a great experience. After we called out the discrepancies someone did come correct the bill which was the right thing to do. I had high hopes for this place but unfortunately for me it was all around disappointing. I hope that can improve and be successful.

This was such a breath of fresh air. Weve been disappointed by a lot of local restaurants lately, but Casa Mangiare was a real treat. The building is beautiful in the inside with a modern design that isnt too flashy, but really conveys luxury. The staff were friendly and attentive although there was a bit of confusion about who our waiter would be. We ordered the foccacia which was absolutely incredible. I could have made a meal of just that. For entrees we had a pizza and the short rib ravioli both of which were amazing. The pizza was BIG and the ravioli was a good size too. The prices were high, but i think this is very much a fine dining restaurant as advertised so we expected that. However I will say you could get out of here for two people for pretty cheap if you shared a pizza and maybe one or two drinks. Id say its definitely worth it if you enjoy Italian food and a nicer experience is in your budget.

Perfect for dining, drinks or business meals. Staff is super-prepared and helpful with selections and service. Easily my new favorite restaurant. Highly recommended! Casa Mangiare is the only restaurant in College Station with authentic Italian cuisine. Very nice atmosphere. Music was a bit loud when we first arrived but quieted down after a bit. Wait-staff was prompt, attentive, and pleasant. While expensive, it is what I would expect from a high-end restaurant and in line with upscale restaurant pricing. Food portions were perfect. With a shared appetizer, 2 entres and desserts, we both left satisfied and were able to eat all of the meal without being overly full. The interior is very nice and a big change from the previous restaurant. Overall it was a great experience.

The spaghetti with lobster was excellent. Pasta is perfectly cooked - unlike the usual overcooked stuff you get in US Italian restaurants. This was much more in line with what I grew up with in Europe. I liked the Arancini, a usual favourite of mine and so hard to find. The issue was the staff: I understand teething issues at the launch of a restaurant, but that is related to delays and mistakes. Politeness should be there, and it s not. I don t need the overly attentive, disruptive questions, but I d like some basic willingness to answer questions rather than just being referred back to the menu for information I know isn t there! It s okay to say I don t know, and to go check with the chef or manager. Chairs are nice and comfortable, which is a big deal for us, so we will let the staffing issues correct as hopefully management can prune the good from the bad, and then be back.

We went on Mother s Day and it was worth every penny. Fresh ingredients were cooked to perfection. We had short ribs with potatoes - wow! The beef was tender and paired perfectly with the truffle potato purée. The spaghetti lobster was fresh, savory, and delicious. Lobster was from maine, and noodles were no doubt house-made. For dessert, we had panna cotta (which tasted just as good as it looked) and the best tiramisu I ve ever eaten. From the back of the house to the front, they paid beautiful attention to every detail (ingredients, preparation, plating, garnishes, exceptional service, etc). I understand some diners were frustrated by the limited menu and/or by the price, to which I ll say this: a limited menu is a normal thing for any restaurant to do on special weekend like graduation or Mother s Day, and it s a smart thing for a brand-new establishment to do while they work out the kinks of their first week being open. Some questioned the authenticity of the menu (I.e., where s the spaghetti and meatballs? ) but the executive chef was born, raised and trained in Italy. Perhaps we Americans have too narrow a view of what Italian food actually is. Lastly, if folks want wallet-friendly spaghetti with bottomless salad and all the extra grated parmesan you can eat, they might want to try that chain establishment. (It rhymes with schmolive schmarden.) But if you re looking for fresh ingredients, excellent service, a delicious meal and a great experience, this is the place to go.
