I really enjoyed my stay at the George. I traveled for a work event and they did a great job hosting our company. The meeting rooms were set up well. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms and amenities are nice. The shared balcony areas were cool as well, great for socializing and hanging out at night.

*** UPDATE: After posting this review and as seen at the bottom, the general manager asked us to contact him which we did. After discussing the issue with him, he immediately offered to refund the money and offered a stay at The George next time we were in College Station. I am sincerely appreciative of his effort to contact us and subsequently refund our money. By the way, there was never any request or requirement that I retract or update this review; I am updating this review because of his efforts. Again, this review was as I said, a Buyer Beware review based on our experience with the reservation system ONLY and how we ended up getting it through a third party in spite of getting there via The George website. Based on the general managers response, I believe The George to be a quality hotel that truly strives for quality customer service. This situation was not the fault of The George, yet they took financial responsibility for it. The George is at the top of my list for hotels in the B/CS area and I hope to stay in the future, given the opportunity. *** Using website for The George hotel, we made a reservation for one night. Unfortunately, this was the night AFTER the Crowdstrike issue and my flight back from Lima, PE was delayed by 24 hours making it impossible to make the reservation. My wife cancelled it immediately once we realized I would be delayed. We knew there was a chance for no refund due to The Georges refund policy, nevertheless, we contacted the Hotel only to find out that our reservation was made through a third party, namely someone in the Priceline group. We dont like companies like Priceline or Expedia for the reasons I am describing and again, I have to emphasize, this reservation was made through The George website reservation system, not Priceline or any other third party as far as we knew. We discussed the issue with this third party, explained the circumstances, provided airline documentation, and were told they would contact the hotel partner for authorization. In the meantime, I called The George direct, again explained the situation and the agent immediately said the reimbursement would be authorized once the third party contacted them. Another email arrived a few days later saying they (the third party) did not receive authorization and no reimbursement would be issued. I contacted the hotel again, got a name and a number, provided it to the third party via email three days ago and despite a reminder email after two days, we have not heard a peep from the third party and Im still out over $500. I called Valencia Hotel Group (parent of The George) and they essentially said I was spoofed into making the reservation with the third party and they could not help, theyve done all they could. All this is to say, Im sure the amenities at The George are very nice, but we will never know. Be very careful how you make reservations at this hotel and most likely all hotels in the Valencia Hotel Group. Their reservation system obviously with a third party unbeknownst to the user and when something falls apart along the way regarding the reservation, it is next to impossible to repair or get a refund. I personally would prefer staying at a Motel 6 than deal with this nightmare ever again. At least theyll leave the light on and the loss wont be close to $500.

Beautiful hotel. Conveniently located downtown College Station, it has lots of places where to eat right outside the Hotel. No breakfast is provided but Sweet Paris is right outside the hotel and you can have the best crepes in the area right there. The sheep that moves around the hallway is a well kept secret. Parking is valet or in the Lotz garage free of charge. Rooms: Rooms were well cleaned and with ample space. Walkability: Anything is close by. Food and drinks: Lots of places to eat just around the hotel

Update: Second stay and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay extra special to make up for the first. Can t beat customer service like it. We stayed in a double room this time, which I didn t realize was only double beds and not double queens. My mistake. That being said, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay this time around, including utilizing the pool. Original Review: Don t stay in room 234. Right beside the skybridge with very loud bar downstairs that stays up past midnight. Then was awoken to someone on the treadmill above our bed. I ve seen in previous posts that they are doing to redesign the bridge, but I don t know if they can change the fact that people are going to be working out early in the morning. Also, the front desk couldn t find our reservation even though I had the booking number and my brother had spoken to two people directly about the reservation. Not worth the price paid. Pro is that the bed is comfortable and staff is friendly.

While location and rooms are nice, if you value getting sleep at night then definitely DO NOT STAY HERE. There is music blaring in the courtyard well past midnight two nights in a row. The hotel switched rooms for us, however the music was easily audible from the other room as well. If you have children, or are looking to sleep normal hours you will not at this hotel unfortunately. It strictly has to do with music blasting from the courtyard. As this happened two nights in a row (Fri and Sat) seems like this is normal for the music to be blasting well into the night. FYI I m writing this review at 12:30 AM and can hear the music loud and clear unfortunately if the hotel wants to cater to any family it needs to fix this ASAP

I normally have wonderful experiences at the Whiskey Bar in the lobby of The George. However, tonight the bartender was extremely rude. She was not friendly when my boyfriend asked about the whiskey she had. Then when I asked to close out our tab, she said Youre good. It was $33.78. She did not give a receipt for me to leave a tip. As a bartender myself, this told me she assumed we were not tipping customers. I was so shocked by this that I just chose to leave. It seemed as if she assumed me and boyfriend were not the type of customers that would take care of our bartenders. We are young and maybe that is why she made this assumption. However, I have never and would never treat any customer this way despite my preconceived notions. Overall, I was very disappointed with the service this evening.

We came in around 9PM on Thursday and were met with a super nice woman with blonde long hair(so sorry I didnt get a name) She already had everything ready for us and gave us detailed information about the hotel and parking. The male valet outside was also super helpful. We were visiting from Las Vegas and the staff was very impressive. It doesnt matter how big and beautiful your hotel is, If your staff isnt kind and helpful to everybody, it will ruin that experience. So we were very happy that they seemed to have a great attitude and really take pride in where they work. The night we got in it was actually really quiet. I think more signage throughout the property would be really helpful as it is pretty dark in this area. The rooms are very modern and clean. We were on the third floor and honestly I didnt hear anything the entire night. I didnt see anybody in the hallways at all. They have makeup remover wipes, hair dryer, A safe, robes, shampoo & conditioner, body wash, gigantic towels. Pretty much everything that you need. There were some small maintenance types of things, like the door to the room not completely flush enough for the bolt lock fully. And the toilet seat in the bathroom had a crack in it which was annoying. But we got in so late and we were leaving in the morning. It wasnt something that we didnt want to bother with. The staff was really helpful with everything though. Rooms: The rooms are a really good size. Plenty of room for a couple to have their space and lay stuff out. Walkability: This is in a high end outside type of shopping area. There are small boutiques style stores and a place to grab food and drinks. Food and drinks: You can grab food and drink at the hotel

Quirky boutique hotel where my brother was staying for just one night. Its modern and a little fancy. Definitely a step above the usual Hampton or Courtyard. It is not aligned with any of the huge hotel chains. Entrance and registration desk was very difficult to find, both driving around and then on foot. Its here, somewhere! Clean room, really nice shower and a self-service mini bar in the room that was not too expensive at all. Fitness room had enough equipment and a nice view. Other than paying for paying in Century Square, its a pleasant stop. Nearby activities: Plenty of restaurants and retail in the shopping center. Walkability: Great spots in walking distance. Food and drinks: Lots of restaurants in the same plaza. Noteworthy details: Ask if theyll validate your parking or such. The parking deck is a walk.

We stayed at the George for the first time in March of 2023. The hotel is immaculately appointed and staffed. We were greeted by the valet with a genuine smile and good humor. The front desk hostess was kind and cordial. The room was fresh, clean, and well stocked. Wed asked for extra towels and pillows - all of which were there awaiting us. Hotel is very nice. Walking in the hotel I immediately noticed how nice it smelt, a subtle clean leather smell. The location is so ideal. It is close to so many places you can walk too, restaurants, bars, shopping. This is my 2nd time to stay here. The first time I stayed here I gave a 5 Star rating on everything. This time the rooms were not as clean, we found a dirty crusty sock wedged between the bed and nightstand. And there was hair in the bed when we pulled back the sheets, not ours because we hadnt been in the bed yet. Also, one of the towels in the bathroom was very stained, it looked like the towel had been washed but the stain was off-putting. I will stay here again because I had such a great stay the 1st time but if the rooms are dirty again I will be looking elsewhere to stay.

I had my wedding reception and room block here in December 2023 and would highly recommend it for events. The staff was highly responsive throughout the planning process and went out of their way to make the experience special. Their flexibility with short-notice changes was especially appreciated. They even gifted us wine and sweet treats and decorated the room with petals after the wedding. The rooms were great and the reception was a blast. The George provided the food and bar, which were both big hits with the guests. The beer-battered shrimp, bacon-wrapped scallops, mashed potato bar, and hot chocolate bar in particular were favorites. Rooms: Rooms are spacious and have an upscale cowboy feel. Note that the fridge is small and filled with drinks and there is not a microwave. The tub in the suite is wonderful. Walkability: In the middle of a nice shopping center with easy access to food and shopping. Within 15 minutes walking of campus. Food and drinks: Excellent catering for events. The food was high quality despite mass production. The open bar doesnt do most cocktails for events, but serves high quality products.

Very pretty hotel in an excellent location with a lot of dining and convenient businesses close by. It s pretty and the bar and outdoor hangout areas are very nice. However, attention to detail is lacking. Our room had a roach (I think that s what it was). Sheets were torn. For some reason the AC was not cooling overnight no matter how low we put it. It got super warm and stuffy. I was tempted to go ask for a new room because it was pretty uncomfortable, but my kids and husband were already sleeping and it would ve been super inconvenient to move everything at 1 AM. It seemed to start working better in the morning but maybe because it s cold outside. Not sure. The only pods available in the room were decaf and tea. I called up to the desk and it took about 35 minutes for regular pods to be delivered. That said, we realized afterwards there is a nice coffee bar set up in the mornings where the whiskey bar is. So keep that in mind! Once the pods were delivered, we tried to brew several cups of coffee and realized the Keurig in the room is broken. It exploded coffee grounds everywhere twice. I m going to let them know upon checking out. It s a nice place and we have enjoyed it but certain areas do need attention.

Very disappointed for what should have been a high end experience. It started when I called the hotel to find out when check in time was and was placed on hold for 10 minutes. After we checked in, we found the light switches by the door as you come into the room did not turn on any lights. The plug by the bed did not work, so my phone did not charge overnight. And there were only coffee pods that were decaf in the room. When we called down to ask for some caffeinated coffee pods, we found that the in room phone did not work. We called down to the front desk and asked for 4 to be sent to the room and over an hour later - as we were leaving - someone showed up with 2. It was only made worse by when we came down to the lobby there were three front desk people sitting around chatting. I expected more as a business traveler.

If I were young and planning to close the bar down with my friends, Im sure Id have ranked this hotel a 5...but Im not, Im here with my family to sleep, because we thought wed be better off sleeping here and getting an early start back to Austin in the morning instead of starting the drive home at 10pm. I should have gone for the late night option. Its 12:20am and the continuous noise output from the bar is insane. At this rate, I reckon itll be that way for another couple hours. If this hotel also wants to have the on-site nightclub going hard until 2am, they need to consider sound-proofing. I dont know, maybe its only like this for special events. Were on the second floor, maybe its not as bad on 4? Ive got a couple maybes in there, and the rooms themselves are nice (except the power outlets in the nightstands are super loose and it can be tricky to find and reach the bedside lightswitchs unless youve got stretchy rubber arms), so Im still giving it a 3...just a 3 with some warnings. And look, before you say, thats just hotels, man... I travel a lot for work. Ive spent literally thousands of nights in hotel rooms. I assure you this is not a normal amount of noise.

I have stayed at many different hotels before but this is the first time that my stuff in the room was lost (including an expensive electronic toothbrush, along with multiple small items). I talked with the staff at the front desk multiple times to sort things out. They all said that they will check with housekeeping and will get back to me, but I never heard back from any of them. In addition, whenever I approach to the front desk during my stay, there was always a new staff there and I have to explain it all over again to the new staff as they had never heard anything from the previous staff. This is probably the worst hotel experience I ever had.

While the hotel is very nice there were a few things that could have been better. 1) self parking was horrendous. 2) elevators are not cooled. Hope both continue to work properly in this heat. 3) beds very comfortable. Pillows very flat. I had three of them stacked and I was still laying flat. And the final minor irritation 4) the TV is on the wall and is not able to be moved or titled. Our bed didnt face the TV. Other than that the pool and bar were great. Located near campus and in a shopping area with numerous restaurants. Would stay here again.

I travel for business and usually stay at big name 3 or 4 star hotels. This has been the nicest hotel I stayed at! I did not check out any pool or gym amenities, but it is located near plenty of restaurants and shops and close to the University. My sheets and towels were clean and stain free, the floor (while carpet) seemed very clean, there were no stains in the shower, smelled very good, fully stocked fridge in room, very nice front desk staff, everything you could want! If I were to find any down sides, its that the parking garage isnt attached, but it is just around the corner. The food at there sister restaurant across the way is also amazing! I will be staying here if I ever need to return to College Station. Rooms: Very clean, nice layout, large bathroom with large countertop Food and drinks: The restaurant associated is not inside the hotel, but across the way. Rarely do I find that hotel restaurants are really worth what I pay, but that is not the case here! My salmon at dinner was so delicious that I actually got up early enough to got to breakfast!

No body wash for 3 days while I was there I even called and someone came and when I went to the shower there was hand wash where the body wash was supposed to be. When I called again I got the same excuse. Also no dressers for clothes and no microwave. Another day with no clean up in the shower and was trying to be blamed asking if I had my do not disturb sign up even though they cam and and made up my bed. Then my door wouldn t close and I had to leave to work with my room insecure. I was also told by the front desk staff when I checked in that I could park in the garage or any of the paid parking spots right outside the hotel, not true! I got a parking ticket. Just probably the worst stay I have ever had and I travel ALOT for work.

The George Hotel was impressive and romantic. My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon, and it was the best decision. Rooms were very clean and fresh. Yes, The George is a beautiful, boutique hotel, and a fabulous place to stay, but I would like to add that the service is impeccable!! We had what turned out to be a small hiccup because it was resolved sooo quickly!! Our room was very hot! We returned from dinner about 9p and the A/C didn t seem to be working. We went to the front desk & reported the A/C issue. The young lady (maybe Emily) on July 11th was extremely helpful and said she would put in a work order a.s.a.p. We went back to our room to wait. About 5 minutes later, she called our room, told us that engineering had checked their system and the A/C wasn t cooling, upgraded us to a king suite, and brought the new room keys to us! Our entire issue lasted about 15-20 minutes until it was resolved!! She was very helpful, pleasant, kind, expeditious, and professional! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

We had an excellent experience here from the moment we pulled up to the Valet. He was very helpful and pointed us to the covered parking garage where we parked our vehicle for the night. The receptionist checked us in and we received our key cards. We stayed on the 3d floor and as the elevator doors opened, we were greeted by old black and white footage of a train. Then the carpeted floor had handwriting from an old train schedule. Very classy and detail oriented. When we opened the door to our room we were again amazed by the combination of wood, leather and tile of a very clean room. The fridge was stocked with drinks for purchase (which we did not touch). The bar downstairs everything you need. Hunter, the bartender, is very optimistic for the Aggies football season this year. We enjoyed our conversation. I look forward to staying here again in the future, maybe for a home game this season? Highly recommend for everyone to stay here at least once for the experience. Great book collage dedicated to the late Silver Fox Barbara Bush.

TLDR? Easiest five stars ever. Want to know more? Allllllways my go to for a relaxing getaway from Austin. NEVER disappointed. The valets are energetic and polite. The front desk staff is always so kind and they genuinely seem happy to work there. George, Tristan and David (management) are top tier. All things considered, the George is my favorite hotel and the ONLY place I will stay in CS. Rooms: The rooms are clean and classy. Great towels and robes. I love coming back and seeing what they have dialed up since my last stay. Love the new soaps in the bathrooms and showers! The balcony rooms are the BEST place to listen to the live music thats often on the square... it was SO good last weekend!! Walkability: I read the gym is nice too but the only exercise I got was walking to the ice machine LOL. Oh wait, I walked downstairs for GREAT food at Porters and the 2nd night was delicious tex-mex at Juanitas. Mos Irish pub is close and they have THE BEST jalapeno grilled cheese (maybe next time Ill walk a little further than downstairs!) Food and drinks: Reading the other reviews, it sounds like I need to go see Hugo at the whiskey bar. Good thing Ill be back soon :) Noteworthy details: I LOVE the smell of the George so much, I bought some of their fragrance for my house :) The Texas flag made out of thousands of books in the lobby is just gorgeous. Some people are so damn creative! Cool photo opp.

Really liked the place. Front desk staff were super helpful and polite. This hotel has a great bar with an excellent whiskey collection and complimentary coffee. They have regular daily housekeeping and they restock the minibar with snacks and drinks each day. The water, however, could be less expensive. I only have one complaint: the tap water. The tap water tasted funny and salty. Central filters could be put in place to raise the quality of water supplied to the hotel rooms. Noteworthy details: The entrance to the hotel has something made out fo books. Look at the books to figure out what it is, from a slight distance. Its got a cozy pool. I had a huge work deadline and needed to stay in a hotel nearby to concentrate and get work done during a recent weekend. It was okay for that purpose because the hotel was near so many good options. However, the chair provided for the desk was a wooden decorative chair that sits way too low for the table. I had to place pillows on the chair to get it to the right height to make it somewhat more windy correct. Its definitely not somewhere I would choose to stay for work related reasons again for that reason. Rooms: I was placed in a room on the very far corner. This meant I had to walk completely around the building every time I needed to get to the elevator. Another elevator is needed. The room itself was spacious and well equipped with the exception of the TV remote not working and having to get technical support three times before it would finally work. Then, I had to call them back late because it wouldnt turn off and wouldnt unplug. The shower door would not close all the way either. Nearby activities: The hotel is situated in the middle of a very active area where people congregate on a turfed green space and musicians place throughout the day and evening. I opened the door to my balcony to listen to the music during my whole stay. It was great! Walkability: There are so many good options nearby that there isnt a reason to drive anywhere if you are just staying for a weekend like I was. I had a huge work deadline and needed to eat quickly and get back to concentrating on work. Food and drinks: The bar was well equipped. The peach martini was delicious. The coffee provided at the bar in the mornings was weak. Easy enough to walk outside to Sweet Paris right by the hotel to get a delicious speciality coffee instead.

I never received any confirmation email or receipt when booking or even after leaving the hotel and they charged us $10 more than the rate they stated over the phone. They also charged us for something in the mini bar in the room when we didnt touch anything. The fridge was absolutely disgusting and looked like it hadnt been cleaned in quite some time. Our Wifi also didnt work so winding down at the end of the day with Netflix wasnt an option, because the connection was so poor. BUYER BEWARE----The George is a shadow of its former self. We have enjoyed staying there multiple times over the years when we would go to C Stat for Aggie games. We had not been there since the pandemic. However, we recently went for a game in Nov. 2022 and what a difference. The place is now really run down and has not been maintained well at all. Plumbing fixtures were loose or non-working, scratches on the walls, stains on the (frankly old) carpet, A/C units that either didnt work or were noisy enough to wake the dead. Also no more included continental breakfast downstairs but hey, they sure jacked up the price. What a disappointment. We expected more, especially for over $700 per night. George would be embarrassed if he could see it. Never again.

No offer of refund etc? When I complained to management I receive all sorts of excuses and lies-yes bold faced lies about rooms not available due to maintenance.
