I visited the Chisholm Trail Outdoor Museum on the day of the ribbon cutting celebration and opening of the new Douglas Harmon Chisholm Trail & Western Memorabilia Museum. This is a very comprehensive museum with activities for adults and children. The curators and staff are dressed in period clothing and are all very friendly and informative. Budget at least 3 hours for your visit.

The lady in charge thinks she is a warden saw some people working community service . I heard her screaming at the poor people . Lets call her a Karen . If the state of Texas finds out she will be in so much trouble . The way I saw it she was acting like a racist. If this people were criminals but they arent I think she needs a reality check it can be her on other side of the law . Then karma can do the job.

So much fun, visited on the weekend (Sunday) and enjoyed the Native American museum, the school house, the blacksmith shop, the jail, the gift shop, the law enforcement museum, and the Confederate museum. Educational, but so interesting - and the volunteers are amazing! They took the time to walk us through the outdoor museum and show us all of the offerings, but most important, they gave us a glimpse into the life and times of the people who were here before us. I will be returning on my own - I was with a group and didnt get the opportunity to truly relish in the history.

They say you can go on walking tour for free and museum cost $5 ... I stopped in alone to check it out thinking I may bring a child back with me ... The only building I entered was a gift shop and I was explaining that I was not touring I was simply looking at what they had for my next visit...I was about to purchase a $50 purse when the very rude lady told me I had to pay $5 for being on the property...I gave her the $5 and she wanted to give me a admission bracelet I told her again that I was not touring and I was leaving...left and wont be back.... I did stop in the museum on my way out to ask about the free walking tour... they were VERY NICE! VERY NICE and seemed embarrassed by the rude ladies behavior
