I walked into Academy Sports and Outdoors with a simple goal: to buy some .22 ammunition. Little did I know, I was about to embark on an epic quest that would rival any action movie. First off, the store is huge. I felt like I needed a map, a compass, and maybe a sherpa to navigate through the aisles. I wandered through the camping section, got lost in the fishing gear, and almost set up camp in the tent display before I finally found the ammunition section. When I got there, it was like finding the Holy Grail. The shelves were stocked with more ammo than I could ever dream of. I half-expected a choir of angels to start singing. I grabbed a box of .22 ammo and felt like I had just won the lottery. But the adventure didn t stop there. On my way to the checkout, I got distracted by the exercise equipment. I tried out a treadmill and almost launched myself into the next aisle. Then I found the kayaks and briefly considered paddling my way to the register. The staff were incredibly helpful. One employee even gave me a high-five when I told him I found the ammo. I think we bonded over our shared love of outdoor gear. By the time I made it to the checkout, I felt like I had completed a marathon. In the end, I left Academy Sports and Outdoors with my .22 ammo, a new appreciation for the great indoors, and a story to tell. If you re looking for an adventure, this is the place to go. Just make sure you bring a map.

Claude in the gun department is the man. Talk about customer service. Give this guy a raise. He is just a good guy. He will not try to upsell or have you get something you don t want and he told us the deals S&W was having Definitely will be back and my wife who was a novice with hand guns felt at ease of her choice. Used to be my go to store for everything from firearms, fishing gear and clothing, the last time I was there there was clothing scattered everywhere on the floor and was informed that they no longer carry women s blue jeans, that s right, blue jeans, hundreds of pairs of men s jeans but no women s, employees were non existent, the ones I did see walked right by without even making eye contact, never offering to help, I ve got 2 gift cards I m going to use and I will be done with academy after being a loyal customer for decades

I had two attempted orders for a women s bike canceled automatically by the store multiple days after I placed the orders. A third order for a men s bike went all the way to the designated pick up date just for it to sit in preparing status. I tried calling the store for three days to figure out why but no one picked up until the third day. When they finally did pick up I found out that their bike assemblers had not been in the store for 2 weeks. Terrible experience. I will be canceling my third order and purchasing elsewhere.

Twice came to purchase a hunting rifle and the same tall bearded person wearing glasses with brown reddish hair ignored me for about 15 min. While I understand is the only one there and attending another customer both times you could have made eye contact either. Let me know there would be a wait or call someone for assistance instead it was as if he purposely avoided eye contact And didn t say a word so once again I left and headed to Bass Pro instead.

The place is so slow. The cashiers need to be retrained. You ve got these door guys just standing there. The cashier has no clue how to do a return. Purchased online with PayPal and he wanted to give me a store credit instead of refunding my method of payment. The day I checked in for curbside pickup they never came out. Had to go inside and wait. There was no receipt when inside the bag when I got home.

The worst experience ever in a retail store. Still waiting on a credit and have made calls to the store and corporate and no one has a clue. Chris in accounting never answers the phone and the manager bobby is very rude and clearly does not care. Bought a product with advertised rebate, get home to fill out the rebate and it says the item is not part of the rebate. The managers answer to me is just send it in, its covered. The rebate clearly says no. Done with this place. Update, years later and this store still sucks, can t even do a simple return, incompetent to the core.

Best customer service in this location. We went to purchase Nike high top for my kid. Model of shoe was available but not size which fits my kid. We searched for while with no hope we approached a older staff who was organizing the shoes. He immediately searched in his mobile and said two shoes are available in stores but apologized stating it should be misplaced somewhere else. He started searching in shoe racks and was able to find it after going through many shoe boxes.He was with us till we were satisfied and got what we wanted. I was shocked to see his patience and helping everyone approaching him.

Awful Customer service. Me and my fiancé purchased a ping-pong table. We checked receive receipt by text message never got it. Had to put the table on hold as was too large to fit in SUV and they told us just to put our phone number and names. Called after opening to coordinate somebody coming to pick up table (let them know name and arrival time) They said it would be no problem. Then they delayed our delivery and asked us and the person picking it up for a receipt and refused for 40 min to give it to him. when they are the ones that messed it up and did not provide us with any type of receipt. I was told I was being aggressive for simply spelling out exactly what happened lol, Who would not be frustrated after you purchase something don t receive a receipt and then they won t release the item that they said originally wouldn t be a problem when I spoke to them on the phone? What even better is when I attempted to call the next morning after purchasing no one picked up the phone in fact someone did several times and hung up. I made it a mission to continue calling and I m guessing they got annoyed and finally picked up the call. I spoke with Randy, who seemed like the person that was hanging up on me as he could ve given a care less when I told him someone was hanging up on me. Absolute nightmare, dealing with the store. I will never shop here again.

Ill never understand why they think its ok to ball up NEW clothes and cram them into a bag. They arent balled up on the shelf or rack at the store and most ppl dont keep them that way at home. When customers spend $$$ on new clothes at your store try folding them so they look good when customers get home. It happens EVERY TIME (no joke) so must be a training or company culture thing.

Used to be a great Academy but has gone downhill ever since the Coronavirus. Now 3+ years later it s still awful here. They usually only have one checkout lane open and the managers will walk right by a line of 10+ people and do nothing. It s truly embarrassing. Horrible lack of any sort of assertiveness and proactive positive customer experience from managers here. Whoever is the district manager for this store should be out of a job.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. After going to Home Depot to buy a cornhole set for a gift and finding out they don t stock any (online only), I went to Academy Sports. They had different options and the price was better than other stores that I found online. The front host called someone to help me find it and they walked with me until we found it.

After making a quick trip to the Academy location off of Research Blvd in Austin, I was directed here for an item that they had in stock. The early morning traffic here was light and parking was a breeze. The store was anything but busy and it made my visit and transaction pleasant and quick. Can you please consider a bench for customers waiting for others who are in the dressing room trying on clothes? We are older and it is hard for me to stand for long . The girl that checked us out was very rude, unpleasant, and unprofessional. Huge attitude. She asked if I wanted to apply for the academy card & explained I could get some money off my purchase if I did all I have to do is apply. So I told her no thank you. Then as I was paying for our items with my card I was waiting for the transaction to go through, a whole minute passed and she said it is a credit card and I was so confused because she said it after the conversation had already been done. And I asked what? And she looked at me like I was stupid and said what I asked you to apply for...the academy card. And I said no thank you, Im fine. Which I already told her no thank you already. I dont know why she was being so unpleasant but after she checked us out she didnt bag any of our items she just stood there until I asked her nicely to and she replied with sarcasm. I asked if my daughters helmet could also fit in one of the bags and she replied rudely probably. First and last time at this Academy. The Austin Academy has better service. The only person that was helpful here was an older gentleman.

Why do you even offer curbside pickup? If after waiting 15 minutes, you send another status saying that it will take up to another 23 minutes.
