If you love history you must see this place!! It s really cool to see an entire farm from the 1800s. The place is huge and there s lots of buildings to look at. How the buildings have lasted so long is amazing! Entry is only $7 and it s an easy walk around the farm. There s a restroom located at the beginning of the trail

Great place to go for a stroll. Close walk from site and plenty to check out as you try to imagine the intense life on the prairie 150 yrs ago. And in this area, the biggest obstacle was water.

The mid 18s farm located in Cedar Hill State Park. Has several farm machines and buildings from the period. Self guided tour with signs. They sometimes do special guided tours. Fee is the cedar hill state park entrance fee, no extra fee for this area. This park can get quite busy, so I recommended advance purchase. Today it wasnt that busy so no advance reservations were needed.

This farms property is huge and visitors should prepare to commit a good 45 - 60 minutes or more of walking to see the whole farm and read about the history of the farm. There are information signs about most of the agricultural equipment and buildings. We did a self-guided tour. The farm visit is free, but I think you have to pay to enter Cedar Hill State Park in order to visit the farm. We camped overnight, so our camping fee basically covered our park entrance fee.

Wow, first went to restroom, someone took a poo in the urinal. Not a good first sign. Walked the path to the first building no real arrows to point where your suppose to walk so we walked down a hill back up a hill into a fence. Only to turn around. Buildings are in some cases rotted and falling apart. Ive been to other historical places that seem to invest money back into the property but that does not seem the case here. Was disappointed thought it might be more. Lake was pretty, campsites were nice if you want to camp.

Weve been here several times now and always make it a point of walking around and looking at everything. This is the weirdest farm Ive ever seen. Its like all of the buildings were dumped here and it was never actually farmed. I cant figure out what the barns were used for. That possible chicken coop one felt...creepy. It felt barren, unlike other old farms weve been around. It didnt even smell right. Where were the alleged orchards, for example? Lots of critters, which was cool. I think we saw more wildlife here than in any other part of the state park.

From a photographers POV, this is a great little place with surprisingly sufficient number of compositions to get portraits. You could use the houses or barns to get a more rustic feel but you can also exploit the openness of the field to minimize the rustic presence if needed. Late afternoon provides good lighting and its accessible until late.
