Really great visit! The size of the property is deceiving from the street they have a lot of historical buildings behind the street front and the restoration on them was great. The museum had a lot of interesting artifacts. They have special activities coming up the second weekend in October and Christmas which sounds like a lot of fun!

We got there a bit late today due to the Lonhorn Caverns. Its worth the trip to come to this little town to see the history of the fort and there are a lot of old buildings. From the outside driving by, it doesnt look like much, but once you go in, you will be surprised.

A MUST SEE WHEN IN BURNET. This is the site of historic Fort Croghan. While most of the orginal fort no longer exist, there are some orginal buildings. Additionally, many pioneer and early settler cabins have been moved to the location and center on the orginal parade grounds giving the visitor a distinct and clear idea of how the fort was arrayed. There is also a museum that details the history of the area.

You can check out Fort Croghan for free. My wife and I left a donation though. Friendly staff and lots of cool, neat items from way back in Texas frontier days.

Beautiful little museum and historic buildings nestled on the edge of downtown Burnet, Tx. Absolutely free but they do accept donations. Ample parking and the volunteers are lovely to talk to about the history of the area. Enjoy walking around and seeing what it was like to live back in the early years of Texas. Enjoy!

Fun stop. Hard to see store-front and find if you are not looking for it. Worth stopping at- to see relics and history of the area. Free museum, both inside and out, but I recommend to leave them a donation.

My wife and kids got to see the place on a school filed trip and we went last night for Ft Croghan Christmas. This was my first time and I have lived in Burnet for 3.5 years. I have driven past this place a hundred times and didnt know there was that much history and buildings behind the entrance. I will definitely be going back in spring when it re opens to see it during the daylight and get the full experience.

Great place to visit and see history come alive! Small enough to enjoy all of it in one day. Plenty to learn, staff is friendly and quite informative! Volunteers on site actually working in cabins and on machinery! The Blacksmith was interesting to watch, that is a true art. Cabins open to check out on a self guided tour.We brought children ranging from toodlers to young adults and we look forward to coming back! In October the whole place comes to life in a reenactment. They also host groups and school field trips. Call to schedule an upcoming event.
