I had an early dinner with a friend, the place is beautiful and the staff is very friendly and attentive. The only thing I wish it was different is, when I ordered a sandwich and asked if I wanted a salad instead of fries for the side, I was not informed there would be an extra charge for substitution, I thought the salad was the built-in option. Id still order the salad if I knew, I just didnt like the surprise.

OMG I found my new favorite restaurant! Everything we had was absolutely incredible. My bestie just moved to the area and we discovered this gem! Caitlyn our server was incredibly attentive! The whole wait staff was checking in. Even the Manager came over! The atmosphere here is super cute and reminds me of our time in Italy! The foooooood though! The whipped feta was everything, its lemon touch and warm pita bread just melts in your mouth. Then the truffle Mac n cheese was the best I have ever had. I m not making this up! Anyway, come here, it s a mom and pop shop and deserves all the love! Cheers!

Every. Single. Thing. Was delicious. We tried the barbacoa doughnuts (amazing!), pork belly salad (tasty although it s more like crispy thin bacon instead of juicy pork belly), pan tomate (wow) and sauteed mushrooms (amazing! Seemed too lemony at first but it actually was perfect when paired with the barbacoa). We tried the beignets (tasty but more like fried doughnut holes the whipped cream topping was, however, FABULOUS). Our servers were nice. Overall a very welcoming experience from everyone. They have a nice eclectic condiments market, with a section of substantial wine selections on one side and the market on the other. This is a hidden gem in Buda!

We ve been frequenting Dos Olivos since back when it was still Los Olivos (before they opened their second location in Wimberley). It s our go-to place if we want to enjoy a tasty sandwich, a really good burger, or a relaxed glass of wine. The food is great, the wine choices are plentiful (and yes, you can shop for wine even when people are seated in the wine cellar area) and the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. We ve mentioned the excellent burgers and sandwiches, but really you can t go wrong with anything on the menu the Barbacoa Doughnuts, Caesar Street Corn, and Butternut Squash are some of our favorites.

They most certainly loved the restaurant, service, atmosphere and food. we still talk about how nice our engagement dinner was. The chef had even gone out to introduce himself. Im leaving this review with a heavy heart but so much was wrong here. We arrived and stood waiting at the door for awhile without a greeting, nod, or any acknowledgement. The decor was casual and attractive. We finally seated ourselves but I could find no indication if that was what was supposed to happen or not. We had a bit of a wait before our pleasant server approached. It seemed he was the only server in the restaurant and he looked to be doing he best but was really unable to provide adequate attention to our table. On to the food. We were served a carafe of water and it tasted like mud! Like a mouthful of lake water. Please invest in a water filter if you are going to serve tap water. We ordered several dishes and three people out of our party of five did not eat what was served. I ordered the porchetta and it was dismal. The meat was dry, the fat was not crispy, and it was dark brown, like it was very old. The slices were very uneven, and it was completely hidden by the alleged slaw. I thought the slaw might redeem the dish but it was simply coarsely shredded cabbage and apples with no discernible dressing or seasoning. I cant remember when Ive been more disappointed in a dish. My spouse ordered the barbacoa doughnuts and those, too, seemed old. The barbacoa was flavorful but the doughnut was so hard that he was unable to cut it. We had the Caesar street corn and it was bland and under seasoned. Another in the party ordered garlic shrimp and reported the shrimp was dry and too oily to their taste. There was nothing on the plate but shrimp in an oily pool, no garnish even. The presentation was poor and unappetizing for all the dishes except the torta, which of course is just a sandwich and fries. Everything else was just unappealing brown lumps on a plate. No complaints about the flavor of the barbacoa torta or the short rib. We were never asked if our meal was ok, nor offered any more drinks after the first round. We were not offered dessert and we had to chase the check, to the point I felt like a hostage in this restaurant. Again, the place seemed understaffed and no fault of the server. I was very surprised at the poor quality of food and service, as I had selected Dos Olivos after reading several glowing reviews. Personally, I will always forgive poor service due to understaffing but I will never accept poor quality food.

Is a flamed corn with delicious home made cesar dressing, cilantro, parmesan and bread crumbs. 2. Truffle Mac & cheese with serrano and kale is creamy and sharable. (The taste of truffle is light). 3. Short Rib perfectly cook and a incredible flavors very tender & juicy. Our Kids try rhetorical friend chicken sandwich and fries so good flavorful and fresh. 4. Olive oil cake was very smooth but the taste are more citrus than olive. Still delicious. 5. We finish with a French Press Coffee.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The experience was awful from beginning to end. It took so long for someone to come bring water, and even longer for someone to take our order. And then once we placed it, two salads by the way, that was our order, an hour had passed. We sat there waiting an hour for salads. In addition to that, the waiters were very aggressive, they were slamming water pitchers and glasses very loudly right next to us; it was startling. Lastly, they had a DJ playing so loudly it was hard to have a conversation. The money that went towards the DJ could have been better spent by getting more staff. We ended up leaving; we never got our food.

This a nice place for a casual meal. The ambiance is country store, not noisy and awesome food. They have a good beer and wine selection. You are allowed a taste of the ever changing beer and wine choices before you order a glass. We have always had good and attentive service from a young staff. They arent very experienced with their wine and beer voices thus a taste before you buy. The food, awesome ground brisket burger, great pork cutlet (family style, plan to share) and a very good carbonara. I had one less than favorable meal there when my y carbonara was so very salty. I spoke to the manager and told him to stay away from the salt shaker. ... I can add salt but I cant take it away. He was very appreciative and responsive to me. My wife and I go there regularly. On our most recent visit we had the fouie gras appetizer and split a burger. Awesome. Visit this place and enjoy.

TLDR: LACKLUSTER, SKIP the food, DRINK the drinks We just had dinner here tonight. I wanted to go to a new dog friendly spot and read great things about this place. The menu is a little confusing in terms of their signature dishes and Family Style Portions costing around the same. My BF ordered the Pear and Walnut Salad for starters, the Branzino for his main while I chose the burger and an order of Truffle Mac n Cheese to split between the two of us. I also ordered a glass of the house cab which was delicious and he had a glass of the Bordeaux which he enjoyed. They offered him the bottle for us to share in case I liked it, to save us money in lieu of his single glass but the wine math didnt add up. For a single glass it was $29 and $190 for the bottle. If you buy 6 glasses, its still cheaper than the entire bottle. We def would not have received over 6 glasses from the single bottle of wine. Onto the food. Though beautiful, the plating of the salad made it difficult to eat. Presenting itself as an open flower of lettuce, it was a bit of a labor to break it down into bite sized pieces. This was the only plate I took a photo of because it was so pretty. For $38, the branzino left much to be desired. A small portioned a la carte single serving that was gone in two bites really should been marketed as a small plate instead. Thats quite a price tag for a small portioned entree that does not come with any sides. The burger and tots were fine as expected but not worth $14. The waitress and hostess were so gracious and kind and offered me different dipping sauces upon my request for the tots. Absolutely loved the habenero sauce but sad to admit that was the highlight of the night. The Mac and Cheese didnt arrive with the entrees and we had to ask them for it. Once it came out, it was cold and just tasted like boxed macaroni. We were the only diners mind you so it wasnt busy. Having had to wait after reminding them of it, it just didnt make sense for it to be cold if it were made to order. Cold pasta that is not Pasta Salad is like soup thats not Gazpacho. Its unwanted and disappointing. We just ate a few bites because we felt bad knowing we would have to pay for it anyway. Scrolling through reviews I saw another diner had Cold Mac and Cheese too! Sadly, it was one of those dates nights that missed the mark and left us both unsatisfied and feeling like the outing was a bit of a waste. Pros: The service! The hostess and our waitress Elizabeth were nice and super accomdating. The indoor ambience is gorgeous but we didnt get to enjoy it since we brought our sweet doggy with us. The wine was great. We arrived during sunset but towards the end of service, a train rolled through. Be prepared for that if you ever eat outside as it is as loud and annoying as it gets. All in all, it is a beautiful spot but it lacks depth, substance, excitement and flavor when it comes to the cuisine. Dont come for the food but stay for the drinks!

TLDR: get the barbacoa donuts, share everything When I first looked at the menu I was unsure what to get and if I should stay but I m glad I did. The menu is a bit confusing with some family style options and some not but I recommend sharing all the dishes!! The dishes each are unique with powerful flavors so again I think they should all be family style. We weren t planning on sharing but so glad we did. One star knocked for the menu being confusing and schnitzel being dry and then one star knocked for getting a warm bottle of white wine and all the dishes coming out at very different times. The barbacoa donuts were amazing. We almost didn t order them because with the word donut I thought they would be sweet but they weren t. I can t image only eating this though it was definitely better shared. The pork schnitzel was a lot of food but pretty dry. It was better with a lot of mustard but I wouldn t recommend it. The chicken karaage was different and delicious but a large amount of fried chicken and a powerful favor, so again couldn t image just having that. Lastly, the seasonal squash gnocchi with unique and really delicious. It did take a long time to cook.

I had the ribeye steak and it was amazing! I will dream about this steak. Just the right amount of flavor without taking away from the steak. The steak itself was juicy. The asparagus with feta had a nice flavor combination. A few things I would change if I could: 1) Self serve water in a jug doesn t feel very fine dining-ish, nor does ordering at the counter. Given the price point plus tip I would recommend adding a wow factor to the dining experience to compensate for that, 2) The asparagus plate could use a little more asparagus. I m a veggie fanatic so could just be me. The portion was not terrible but could have been more imho. 3) The staff was washing dishes, sweeping, and taking out trash while I was eating. Took away a bit from feeling that I m treating myself and made me feel I need to wrap up as the restaurant was closing, though there were still 20 minutes remaining. Overall I think more could be done to align price with the experience. That being said the food is very tasty and fine . The staff is attentive and friendly,

I had high expectations however I was so disappointed after going to dinner there the food is horrible honestly. We ordered the burger and the pasta. They sent out some cold fries and old we sent it back and request fresh ones. The pasta was horrible, salted and just tasteless. I think they need better cooks or a new chef. They have a great location but the food is sooo bad. The beignets was soo salty!

I just want to start by saying that every single thing we got was delicious. We will be back. Its not a huge dining space, is super casual, and relaxed. You walk-in, seat yourself and someone will bring you water. They have beer and wine that you can get table service. All other drinks are canned or bottled and you grab them from the cooler to pay for at the counter. You order up at the counter and will get a number for your table. Theyll bring you the food when its ready. Barbacoa Donuts - Spicier than expected! They werent unbearably hot though. My husband doesnt like spicy food much and he was still thrilled with them. All of the individual pieces of this dish were delicious and combined together they were little bites of heaven. My husbands chief complaint is that there were only five of them, and five is a prime number that is not conducive to sharing. He requests that a sixth donut be added so that this shareable can be equally distributed between two OR three people. Ceasar Street Corn - It comes on the cob, so its not easily shareable. And its well topped (read messy). We managed to cut the corn off so we could split it between us and I was bummed that I was having to share half. Shortrib/brisket burger - This is the most basic and delicious burger I think Ive ever had. Meat was perfectly seasoned, bun was soft and sweet and it had just the right amount of veggies & sauce. I will be returning to order one these that I can have all to myself. Side note: fries were also good! Very crispy and just salty enough. Truffle Mac n Cheese - if Im being honest, this was my least favorite thing on the table. But it was still very good! The portion was enough to eat it for a meal on its own, so if youre getting it as a side, I would recommend sharing. It was very creamy, pasta was well cooked and it wasnt overwhelming truffle flavored. 100% recommend and we will eat here again.

The menu is really diverse and has dishes you may have never heard of. A great opportunity to try something new. We had a variety of things and shared them all so at could sample everything. It was all delicious! They have beer and wine including these frozen winerita things. They are fantastic and are a super hot weather drink. Service was really great. We decline it because it s been 30 minutes and we re done and the girl tells us, we ll she s going to make you pay for it anyway ummm no.. we will not. Whatever you changed. Change it back. Unless you re going for the BBQ joint feel. Really sad. Glad there s more options now. That will be our last meal there.

In many statements I agree with Taylor and Rusty who previously reviewed this place. We stopped by for lunch today (Saturday). Just like a previous reviewer said, from the nice young lady taking the order at the register (hence 2 stars), from there, all went downhill. While we waited for our food, we looked at their merchandise, made our picks and planned to get several gifts on our way out. After a while, my husband s Nashville chicken sandwich came out. No plate or utensils or napkin. Mine wasn t coming out so he started eating. The chicken was quite greasy and some parts so dry- jerky-like, impossible to chew up. He had to go and get the young ladies attention to get napkins. My husband finished his sandwich by the time my dish came out. The pork belly squid ink dish was so disappointing- flat, no taste and topped with 5 sad, tiny pieces of dried pork belly - more like a crackling. I had enough and rushed to finish the meal. Didn t end up buying extras from the shop of course. The worst part was that no one acknowledged that the food was sooo delayed or anything else that we had to ask for. I think the problem is that there s no dedicated server and no coverage of the floor. There are two young ladies covering the register like hawks, one guy making drinks who can t see further than the bar and one food runner. None of them are looking to see if attention is needed on the dining floor. Feel like the $50 we spent (two dishes and sharing a coke) was a total waste. Super disappointed because this establishment is a total opposite from what it looks like. UPDATE: I emailed the owner/manager like they asked me to in their response to my initial review above. When I did that, they wanted to talk on the phone next, but I took the time to write a detailed review (above) and I had nothing new to say. I let them know that. I was not offered a refund as stated in the response that I would. Just validating this bad experience further.

It s nice to have a little place like this in Buda. Dos Olivos provides a nice little market/bar/restaurant that has a clean/modern vibe but still offers local wines and accoutrements. We ve had a few meals here and unfortunately the food is good but not great for what you d expect. We ve had the steak tartare, the chicken karaage, and the squid ink pasta. The steak tartare does actually have good taste but it s drowned in a mayoish sauce - I d say less sauce more steak taste would be good but I d still order it again. The chicken karaage was good, breading was pretty thick but still tasty. The squid ink pasta was definitely a let down. The pasta and sauce were pretty bland and lacking salt. The bits of pancetta were good but didn t have more than 4 or 5 for the whole plate. Overall, I prefer to come here for just a beer or a glass of wine than dinner. I d wish it was stepped up in the kitchen as that would really upgrade the food scene locally.

I used to be a frequently visitor to Dos (Los) Olivos but the past couple of months their food has not been great. I recently went and had the karaage chicken and sat outside (in the late evening) and as I ate my chicken it seemed off and very chewy, after a few bites in, I turned my cell phone light on the food and it was RAW! Me and my friend and her little daughter had been eating raw chicken! I decided maybe it was a bad night and went again tonight only to walk in and over hear another customer complaining about their food and how they were unsatisfied, I should have walked out . My food today was an undercooked chicken sandwich with fries that tasted like they were days old and reheated and overcooked. I m not sure what happened to this place, but it s not the same as it once was several months ago and that s unfortunate.

We were the first into the restaurant when it opened and it took us over an half hour to get our food. We had what I guess could be a burger with fries. The sandwich was delicious but the fries tasted like fries that were made the day before then warmed up. We ordered a dessert which was good but was basically a rice crispy treat, some ice cream and a chocolate topping and that treat was expensive for what we got. I went for a dinner with a friend on a Friday two weeks ago to try it and unfortunately it was not a good experience. We ordered a burger, salad, doughnuts, and pan tomate. There were some people but not too busy, maybe a line of 2-3 people to order and some people seating at the tables. We ordered and after 20-30 min waiting the food was not ready so we asked if there was any problem and were told it was fine and should be done soon, 20 min later asked again and the same response (at this point we already had already waited for about 45 min). Asked again for a 3rd time (this time to a different waitress) and she went inside the kitchen to investigate what was going on and came back with 3 of the items in boxes and missing one (the salad), she had to go back inside and finally we got the 4 items about 5 min later (at this point we probably had been waiting for about 1h). The 3 first items were fine but not too warm, I suspect they were ready half hour ago. The problem was when we opened the salad it was unacceptable, just a couple pieces of lettuces in a box poorly dressed. We took it and presented to the waitress who sent it back to the kitchen and came back with now an acceptable salad, we were told the salad will not be charged because of the inconveniences but it seems we were charged for it (not a big deal to be fair). It s a pity because my friend had dinner once before and he said it was good, not this time. I think it is the first time I give 2 stars in a google review but hopefully it helps to prevent it happening in the future, otherwise the business will do not last much. Thank you.

Unfortunately Dos (Los) Olivos seems to have rapidly declined since they focused on franchise expansion. My wife and I used to be regulars here, since it USED to be one of the best restaurants in Buda. Unfortunately this is no longer the case. The quality and consistency of the food leaves a lot to be desired. I m not sure whether this is due to a revolving door of kitchen staff, or a lack of recipe training, either way we ve stopped coming for the food. At the price point they re charging, it s not worth the risk. As for the front of house experience, the news is not much better. Normal wait times for drinks and the like seems to have tripled in recent months, with plenty of standing around by staff clearly visible to patrons. Beers, food and wine keep rising in price at Dos Olivos but nothing else seems to be improving. It s probably time for them to take a long hard look at operations and start fixing things one by one.

The second dish didnt have any peas and only 2 tiny pieces of pork belly. The mushrooms we ordered came out after every single entree had been served, which was over an hour later and they werent seasoned at all .My chicken sandwich was probably one of the worst I have ever had had. Very very bland.. we asked for a manager , but they didnt have one available.. it seems like everyone working was in highschool and a responible adult wasnt present to supervise . The charcuterie board had stale cardboard tasting crackers and the meat was way too salty. I expected better quality for $27. The tater tot hash was much better but everything is a bit too pricey for what it is. Also, routinely takes 30 minutes plus to get food, so plan accordingly.

This place is delicious, and their boozy slush flight is popular for good reason. My partner and I got tartar toast, pork snitzel, a salad, and some beignets for dessert. The toast was the star of the show! They have a tiny market and a huge wall of wines. It is a little pricey, and you order and seat yourself. Food can take a while, so i recommend going a little early.

All of the starters we ordered were a hit. The Hispanic girl helping us on the evening of 7/23/22 was very attentive and had great input. Forgot to add more pics bc we ate the food so quickly

We did a day trip to Buda and Kyle today. I found @losolivosmarket_buda when searching for a restaurant with outdoor seating. It turns out that midday the sun is beating down there so we ended up @natesbuda patio. We ordered Barbacoa Doughnuts (the best dish), Foie Gras Tartine, Squid Ink Carbonara, Grilled Chicken Thigh and Seared Butternut Squash. The food was unique and pretty good. We ordered drinks from @natesbuda. I had the Queen of Hearts, my husband had the draft Eastcider and my Dad had Lemonade. The patio was perfectly shaded under the trees and there were fans and misters. After lunch, we shopped @losolivosmarket_buda for jams and sauces.
