Travis was also very awesome, he made sure my dads tie was in his right hand. He loved to dance and that little gesture was so special to us. All details were handled smoothly and with great care. I asked to see my mother one more time and they arranged it immediately while we were taking care of the details. Brady took care of everything in terms of having my others ashes returned to my mothers church in Elgin, Il where she was to be placed in the columbarium niche next to my fathers. Brady informed me when he received confirmation she had made it to the final destination safely. The aftercare conversation with Brooke was helpful in making sure that most of the things that needed taken care of I had done and gave me some pointers on other items that would be helpful. The Callaway-Jones service and caring atmosphere was exactly what I needed to get through this time.

The death of a loved one is absolutely one of the most devastating things we experience in life. However, being the responsible party compounds grief with the frustration of making final arrangements and handling all the other details. We used a different funeral home for my father and were going to use them again but at the last minute we decided to use Callaway-Jones. It was the absolute best decision. Our director was Amelia and she was amazing. Mom was picked up by John and James who were wonderfully understanding of our expectations. Amelia found us what we asked for without feeling like we were being upsold. We were looking at more expensive caskets when my brother said mom would have liked something with roses and she scrolled to a less expensive casket but it had roses on outside and a beautiful pink embroidered top and skirt. We asked for an orchid spray and she found it. The flow-up was exemplary and she even sent someone back to seal the tomb after everyone left. The entire staff was amazing Roy and another woman whose name I don t recall. All were friendly and helpful. I can t recommend Callaway -jones and Amelia more highly

My parents and sister paid for cremation packages years ago. In 2014 my dad passed and we had never been through this process before. The staff was not very helpful. My mom passed in 2024 and I thought we were getting better customer service this time but no. I called to get help posting obituaries. The lady was very helpful until I paid the bill then nothing. She was going to send me a link to the papers and a copy of the newspapers. I didnt get any of it and she told me the wrong day so when I went to buy the paper it was too late. I sent a request for the link and got no response. I hope I go before my sister so I dont have to deal with these people again. Maybe people who dont have big funerals at the building dont get the same kind treatment that the other reviewers received.

Our whole family was very upset with our experience. The presentation of the body was horrible. Casket was way too small, my brother was wasnt cosmetized properly, It didnt even look like him. The stitching and glue was very visible. Anaili and the other girls were pushy and not empathetical or supportive at all. Some if us werent able to view the body privately afterwards, as agreed upon. Should have went to Hillier.

A little over a year ago my family lost my nephew. Ricky Alderete was so kind and so loving in the way that he worked with my brother and sister-in-law to honor their son. Ricky made sure the family was taken care of, and the service was perfect. The service was attended by so many people that we had to spill over into the lounge and into another sitting room and then onto the portico, but everyone was there and felt like they were a part of the service. Callaway-Jones Funeral Home (C-J) Bryan, Tx. provided exemplary service to our family after the death of my brother Robert Nixon in early December 2023. C-J handled the cremation and the worked closely with me and other family members to plan a wonderful Celebration of Life on January 20, 2024. Especially rewarding was the slide show C-J created from all the photos submitted by various family members documenting Robert s life. C-J was sensitive to the family s emotional needs and financial resources with no high pressure to add services or costs. The folder produced by C-J for the celebration of Life was warmly received with excellent graphics. Our family had a memorial for our Loved one here and we were all very satisfied and impressed with the level of care, compassion and customer service. I love the personal touches added by the Officiant Dawn Lee Wakefield. She went the extra mile to learn as much as she could about our loved one and did a fantastic job. I sent a friend a birthday gift for their birthday but it just so happens my friend was not there that day and the manager Cody decided to take it upon himself to take the gift and pass it on to his other employees rather than notify my friend or the delivery personal that this person was out for the day. If he can betray one of his own I wonder what he would do to a person/family he doesnt know personally? I would never trust my love one in this companys hands! He should be ashamed to treat anyone in such disrespect! I will never refer anyone one to this company! Shame on you Cody Jones!

My husband was in the care of your staff, I just want you to know how much I adore every single one of them, Amelia was amazing , she has definitely found where she belongs, I have never seen a person so caring and wanted the needs of the family met to the letter, it made my journey so beautiful instead of stressing over things being perfect for the love of life. Our cousin Terry was overwhelmed with grief at the loss of her son Jeramie. As her heart ached she was not prepared to make funeral arrangements. I m disgusted with how they handled my aunts funeral as well as my grandfathers.They used clip art for the programs and for my grandfather didn t even tell the family the body was not even cremated yet. They were hush hush about it as they held services for a departed person who was not even interned. They essentially lied to us. The program for my grandfathers funeral looked like something a middle schooler could have procured. It is shameful! It breaks my heart and several others who attended. I can t stand the fact that my grandmother has committed to you, call away jones!!!!

Update: Erin sent me a very beautiful blanket to try and make up for the incident with my moms blanket. The gesture was lovely and is greatly appreciated and says a lot about her and the business. Thank you so much! My mom passed away on the 5th of February. She already paid for her cremation prior to passing. That was a huge gift for our family. My father contacted the funeral home the day she passed away and they were able to get us in the very next morning. We went in and were seated immediately. Erin came in and explained everything to us. We picked out an urn and an urn necklace. Prices were fair for both. She made everything easy for us and easy for us to understand. My only disappointment was that we left a blanket with my mothers body and we asked for the blanket to stay with her. My dad specifically told her that we wanted the blanket back because he wanted me to have it. I bought the blanket for her when she got sick and she used it every single day to keep her warm, she passed away with that blanket wrapped around her. It was so very important for me to get that blanket back. When we went to pick up my mothers ashes we realized on our way home the blanket was not in the bag they gave us so I immediately called to find out why. Erin stated that we said we wanted the blanket to stay with her. I said yes that s true but we wanted it back. She told me they cremated the blanket with her. I was absolutely devastated and shocked. I told my dad and brother what happened and they both told me they remember my dad telling her we wanted the blanket to stay with her during her time there but wanted it back. Maybe there was some misunderstanding but my dad was clear he wanted it back. I m thankful that Calloway made the process easy but loosing that blanket hurt me to my core. The only comfort I have is knowing that my mother is in heaven with that blanket to keep wrapped around her

My elderly parents gave my sister and I an invaluable gift by taking care of a burial policy years before funeral services would be needed. I was with my parents when they met with Cody Jones on that day eight years ago. So, I knew that everything would be paid for and that Callaway Jones would handle the arrangements. Lucky to get 1 star. I will have an everlasting nightmare that I will always haunt me. When I think about my mom I have the horrific view of the last time I saw her laying on table in front of the incenerator. Thats not what you want to see when grieving over your mom. I didnt even get to tell her bye. Not even when we went to make the arrangements he said she wasnt ready so the took that away from me and thought I wanted to watch her burn you flipping kidding me!

So losing your mom is hard no matter what. But for me it was complicated by being a caregiver. I really needed a funeral home that would treat me with compassion and understanding. And they totally did that. They were never pushy or tried to add on tons of extra stuff. I was so impressed with how they were able to explain my options and they let me meals the choice. And if it sounds like I am being overly praiseworthy, know that a month after this funeral we had another for my grandfather in Nevada. That funeral home was inattentive and even rude. I have seen and experience the good and the bad, and Callaway Jones is a great choice.

I was very happy with the ease of planning my fathers funeral at Callaway Jones. They allowed me to choose the preferred dates and times, from the open days in the next week. They did not stipulate that I follow certain protocols, but were happy to offer advice and answer my questions about what is customarily done, etc.. They were very open and up front about their charges for standard and optional services, and they handled the catering arrangements of our after service meal.

Unfortunately, my family has had to use a funeral home twice in the past 8 months. November 2021 for my mother that passed away from cancer, and then July 2022 for my son that passed from a car wreck. Fortunately, we went with Callaway-Jones Funeral Home for my mom in Nov and we were paired with Erin Matous there. She was wonderful! So caring, thoughtful, easy to talk to and just made the best out of a horrible situation. When it came time to decide who to go with for our son, it was a no-brainer. I called Erin and told her she was stuck with me again. She makes even the toughest of situations bearable and become a best friend, if not family to you. She cares about her clients and just wants everything to be perfect for you and how you want it be for your loved one. She will not stop till you are happy and will go above and beyond for you. We had a few last minute requests and she worked miracles to get it done. We cant thank Erin and the staff at Callaway enough for their love and support during these trying times. We couldnt have made it though this time without Erin.

I never knew the importance of having a prior relationship with a funeral home until I went through the end-of-life process with my dear father. As his death became imminent, I was able to give him my entire focus and knew that Cody and his staff at Callaway-Jones would be focusing on everything else. It was nearly as if I passed my dad off to long-time friends and they made the days that followed as easy and stress-free as possible. All of my wishes were implemented as they coordinated a beautiful graveside service in a little farming community nearly 100 miles away. People often consider the days following a death so difficult, but I can honestly say that Callaway-Jones made those days the sweetest that I have experienced in a long time. From the moment they were contacted to pick up my Pop after he passed to the return of his cremains and furnishing of the death certificates, they were so respectful to work with. Chelsea Jones is one of the most disrespectful and catty professionals I ve come across to date. When she thought we were out of ear shot she was demeaning and disrespectful at the expense of our recently deceased family member. She was constantly texting, talking about her manicure, giggling and discussing her weekend plans while the arrangements were being made. This type of work is obviously above her abilities. Her mind seemed to be on her schedule shopping trips and her upcoming weekend plans on the lake. Choosing Callaway-Jones was the worst decision we could have made. My poor mother is still so very heartbroken because of the treatment and the lack of empathy shown by Mrs. Jones. Should Chelsea NOT be involved the review would have read quite different. What a huge disappointment.

Very bad experience. Callaway was late to the church and completely rushed the family because they had another funeral to attend to. At graveside, rushed and tore everything down without letting the family say their goodbyes. The contractors working at the grave knocked over flowers on another grave and pretended they didnt see them. Also the concentrators told us they would not reattach a family members headstone they had to remove for the service. They also started gunning the gas on the backhoe in order to get everyone out of the way so he could put dirt in. Completely disrespectful. Absolutely horrible experience and would give negative stars if allowed.

Ricky was beyond amazing. My Dad passed very suddenly and it left our family in shock. My grandmother, aunt and I went and took care of the arrangements and were amazed by the outstanding service we received. Ricky answered every question and never tried to force us into buying or selecting something we did not want for my Dad. He was light hearted and tried to keep the energy in the room happy. He made us feel good about the decisions we made. Rickys help was needed and far exceeded our expectations. Thank you so much for all the help. I hope I never have to use them again but if I do I will go back to that location.

I put off my husbands memorial celebration for two months because I could not get my thoughts around the proper order of service to include our faiths religious aspects and my Manleys personal history. Suggestions came from all sides but, at the time, I could not make sense of it all. One problem I faced was that our little Methodist church in Georgetown was between pastors; no clergyman could testify to personally having known Manley during his final days. What I needed was one person who could officiate at the service, maintain dignity throughout, keep participants on point and see that things ran smoothly. Cody Jones and his staff at Callaway-Jones were unfailingly helpful and, sensing my struggles, introduced me to their in-house Certified Life Celebrant and Tribute Writer, Dawn Lee Wakefield. She became an instant God-send. She took all the elements of my thoughts, reached out to family and friends for their ideas, did more research into Manleys life story, selected hymns and Scriptures appropriate for what I wanted conveyed, then stitched it all together into the truly lovely life tribute that he deserved. With Cody and his staff in the background and Dawn Lee at the podium, all goals were met. I was genuinely pleased with the outcome and those in attendance were touched to remember the man they knew. What looked to me like an insurmountable, sad task became a cherished time when I could relax and enjoy this so final, but appropriate, celebration of my loved one s life. I highly recommend Callaway-Jones and Dawn Lee as a Life Celebrant/Officiant to create and deliver a service that truly honors the life of the one you loved. Mrs. Beverly Jones

We have had 2 funeral services with the fine staff at Callaway-Jones. My Dad passed away suddenly about 3 1/2 years ago. Then my Mom passed suddenly just this last month. Again the fine staff stepped in and the service was outstanding again. I highly recommend Calloway-Jones for any family funeral needs. The staff is highly qualified and professional. Callaway Jones is another great example of an honest family run business in Bryan! Ive known Cody for years and recently was given the opportunity to do business with him on a project he needed. I know that with our business dealings working with him on this project, he carrys the same qualities over to his funeral services. He was very easy to work with, understood all the concerns involved, and most importantly did not try to cut corners. I would highly recommend Callaway-Jones! After my mother had been mistreated, mislead, and her emotions played on by Hillier Funeral Home, they tried to charge my mother $12,000 for two cremations along with a lot of up sells, I Googled Callaway-Jones. I called Callaway-Jones after hours to ask about their services. I spoke to their answering service, left a message and within 30 minutes (on a Friday night) Ricky Alderete called me back. He took time and patience to walk me through their services and options. Unfortunately my father passed away two days later. Ricky and his team took fantastic care of my family during this difficult time. Everyone on staff that I worked with went above and beyond to make sure that my family was taken care of. Ricky, Cody, Jean, and Victoria were all phenomenal, they were sincere and genuinely cared about us. We had so many things to take care of at the last minute and we could not have done it with out their calls, follow up, and overall kindness.

I adored my mother! She was a gracious, loving, funny lady. When she died after a sudden illness, I was shocked and so bereft. We had moved to College Station just a few months before and didnt know anyone. Callaway-Jones was recommended to us, and now I know why. Cody Jones let me stay with my mom as long as possible after she passed. He arranged for a private family viewing for my west coast siblings who arrived after she was gone. He treated us with such tenderness and respect, outlining all options and adhering to my mothers wishes. He made the whole process seamless so I could focus on Mom. We made a couple of non-standard requests (meetings on Sunday, private viewing at the crematorium), and they were only too happy to comply. Moms ashes were hand-delivered to my office by Rick Ruiz, a wonderful considerate gentleman trained to support those in grief. Hes followed up and provided really helpful resources. After it was all over, we received a package from Callaway-Jones containing a blanket throw with my Moms name and photo. I could literally wrap myself with her when I missed her the most. What an AMAZING gift! Callaway-Jones delivers top notch customer service and care when you need it the most. They are extremely knowledgeable and can provide exactly what you want. You can trust them with all the details - they will be handled by caring professionals. I give them my very highest recommendation.
