This is a very good place to eat a home cooked soul food meal or a bbq meal. The food, service , atmosphere were so warm and inviting it was family and friends made it even better. This place is a southern country girls home away from home when it comes to food and atmosphere . They even serve Kool aid. Dietary restrictions: Leave your diet restrictions in the car though

I sent my wife on Saturday to pick up me a three meat bar b que plate with chili beans and collord greens as the two sides after viewing the price and food on the website and the price for the plate was $15.99/ and I also spoke with an employee before my wife got there and clearly said that they have collord greens but when my wife got there to pick the food up she called me while she was there and I had only given her $20.00 dollars since the 3 meat plate only shows $15.99 on the website so while she was on the phone with me I hear the employee saying that the collord greens were mixed with cabbage and to top it all off she stated that the 3 meat plate was $27.00 dollars and I was very disappointed and tried to get my wife to leave the food there and get my money back but the employee insisted that she would take the $20.00 dollars for the food and got home with the food and it was the side was all cabbage and no collord greens which I was lied to and the Chilli beens tasted like ranch style beans and the ribs and brisket tasted like they were baked in the oven with no flavor their bar b que plates are way over priced and you guys really need to update your food prices on your website and this makes me very disappointed and because of this I will not be ordering bar b que from this establishment anymore in the future and for this cause Nikki and lamar deserves a 1 star rating

This is a for real soul food joint. You walk in and are greeted by the ladies working there who you know have been friends since childhood. By the time you leave they feel like your own family. The fried chicken is probably the best I ve ever had. Sides were pretty solid too.

I m at work and working a 12 hour shift I came to work this morning only thinking I was gonna be here a few hours but some people called in so I wanted to pick up some extra time I asked my pops if he can bring me some food because I didn t bring a lunch . I will say when he first brought me the food I looked at it and I was just like where did he get this and what is it because he wouldn t tell me he just said he brought me some good food now never in my life have I had sweet potatoes that I liked so I would never eat them When I tell you, oh my God, this is hands-down, the best food in the town of Bryan College Station I will definitely be coming here very frequently as much as possible cause I want to try everything. It was delicious. I was so full, but I couldn t even stop eating because it was that good if you haven t tried this place and you were looking to try something new do not think twice just do it.

I LOVE small family owned businesses! The food here is made with love and the folks cooking and serving were so sweet. Several of us had brisket plates, some had sausage plates and the rest had ribs. Homemade sides feom macaroni and cheese to black-eyed peas that make you want seconds. If you are anywhere close to the Bryan area, make this a stop on your food adventures.

Do you want to feel like someone is cooking just for you? That is how I felt at Lamar & Nikis. The food was so good; such huge portions! I had the hamburger steak, black eye peas, mac and cheese, and cornbread. I was so full that I didnt want dinner last night. The staff was super friendly and came by to make sure everything was well a couple of times. It was all so wonderful and homey. I highly recommend Lamar & Nikis if you are in the area. The hype is real. We stopped by for a Saturday lunch, since they have BBQ on Saturdays. I got a plate of fried chicken because I saw them bring out a fresh batch as we walked in. Everything was genuinely excellent. I m a big fan of sides and I m now in love with theirs. The stuffing with gravy I could eat alllll day. Mac n cheese, cabbage n greens, yams, every single thing tasted so flavorful. The bbq and fried chicken were equally amazing. The chicken was so moist with a perfect crispy skin and just packed with flavor. All the bbq was sooo tender and tasty. You ve gotta stop by. Idk what happened today but this food was absolutely terrible! Nothing was seasoned at all. The chili beans lacked flavor and the Mac and cheese was horrible. I ordered a plate of bbq for almost $24, and the brisket and ribs had no smoke ring at all. Its as though they put it on a charcoal pit or grill and finished it in the oven. I love to support my ppl but theres no excuse for a $24 plate of food being inedible. Ive never had bbq worse than this in BCS at all. Good Lord it was absolutely horrible

Came here on a Friday a little before 3 and I am so glad we did! Their menu changes daily. My husband just picked up 2 to-go plates for our lunch. They were delicious. We had never tried Lamar & Nikis but we will definitely be going back for more. This restaurant is a hidden gem! Came right after work just looking for a good soul food place. The moment we walked in the person that helped us order was very friendly and helpful. This is a must-visit if youre in the area. Everything about eating here was quintessential comfort - they were so helpful and kind at the counter, the food sent me to another heavenly dimension, and I napped right after. Even with the large portions, you want to keep eating. We ordered almost everything off their Wed menu - smothered chicken, butter beans, rice, candied yams, cabbage, and greens and it was all so good - Im drooling even thinking about it. I finished with the peach cobbler a la mode. The cobbler has a surprising and very welcome hint of nutmeg (??) or something that made it extra delicious. It has to be noted that the welcoming staff and gracious vibe was the icing on the cake! This place is a local treasure and Ill be back to try all the other days specials!!! Yum!

I love the food and most of all the owners and the staff. However, I blame them for the weight Ive gained for the past few years..just kidding..but the food is delicious. I love Lamar, Nikki (owners) and their wonderful staff, especially Billie Ross. She always have a ready smile. If you havent visited them please go. Their days and hours of operation are: Tuesday-Saturday 11-4PM They are closed Sunday and Monday, and the Saturday leading up to the 1st of the month. Happy Eating...

GTSd this place for somewhere to eat for lunch today and it was right next door surprisingly. Fried Chicken...was the freakin bomb! And they wouldnt let us getta way without finishing it off with some peach cobbler. Other than drive back to Houston being miserable...no way that was gonna be their fault. Great job on the quality, and we will definitely be back...I wanna try them ribs on the right day

I m originally from South Carolina, so anytime I get a chance to eat Soul Food it s a treat. We decided to try Lamar and Niki s Pit BBQ and Soul Food while visiting our daughter in College Station, and the visit did not disappoint. I had the two meat BBQ, I chose ribs and brisket with potato salad, cornbread, onion and pickles, and cornbread dressing and gravy (you get to choose sides from a variety of options). My daughter had a 2 meat meal as well, she chose brisket, sausage, cabbage, green beans, and cornbread. My wife had a one meat meal, and she chose ox tail( which she had never eaten before), cabbage, sweet potatoes, and cornbread. The food was excellent! My only complaint is I ate too much! If you have never eaten here you are truly missing out on wonderful food. They owners and employees are some of the nicest and most inviting people if ever met. We will eat here again the next time we are in town.

Tried the fried chicken thigh and a leg Amazing! The chicken was so juicy and delicious and the fried skin was delicious too!! The green beans were very tasty as well. Lamar served us and made us feel very welcomed and checked in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. I will definitely be back the next time I m in town. Excellent!!

When I walked in, I was greeted so warmly with beautiful smiles from everyone. It was refreshing. I wanted to come back eat at your restaurant at that point and I hadn t even tasted the food yet. We served 12 people lunch and 5 people asked where we got the food from. They said it was the best BBQ they had ever eaten. I took some of the leftovers home and my husband and kids tore it up! My husband made the comment that he knew this was not from a chain BBQ restaurant and whoever made this brisket knew what they were doing. I m eating the leftovers 3 days later for lunch and it is just as good today as it was on Friday. The brisket is still falling apart! The potato salad is amazing too! Oh, and I think you could open a mac & cheese restaurant and do just fine. :) Well done!

I love everything here ! The only thing I could complain about is that I wish they had their delicious Mac and cheese everyday lol. My dad is a long time friend of lamar! Just saw this place was rated top 100 Yelp restaurants in Texas 2021. Been holding on to this review for a couple years cause the food was decent. Ill never forget the day I went. Found a hair in my dressing. But the part that really got me was when they handed me my cup of water and they accidentally dumped the entire cup over all their food in the bar. The people in line behind me still ordered and ate the food.
