Husband and I have been here more than once because we love it! Food, drinks, service and atmosphere are all great! Our server Eloy, was very attentive and made sure we had a great time! Vegetarian options: They have a well varied menu, something for everyone. Dietary restrictions: Staff is very attentive and ask from the beginning for any allergy or dietary restrictions.

This is a gem of a restaurant! Yes, the prices are more than your local establishment but it is worth it for a special occasion. I was in Brownsville for business and had to check it out. When I looked at other reviews, there were negative comments about cost and slow service. I dont think they are slow. It reminded me of French restaurants where they give you time to enjoy your meal and have a conversation with your dining partners. Savor the flavors that are unique and delishious! The appetizer they bring with the tortilla chips and sauces was just the beginning. It was hard to choose a favorite. I had the Achiote Salmon, very possibly the best salmon dish I have ever had! Presentation was wonderful, taste was absolutely amazing! Ive never had anything so full of flavors that complimented each other so well. I had to try a dessert and choose the Pecan and Caramel Empanadas. WOW! What a treat! But Esme should have warned me that it would be enough for three. I tried to eat the whole thing myself and almost succeeded. Yes, I spent $60+tip, but for the food you get that is so unique and exceptionally good, it was well worth. If I ever come back to Brownsville, I will come here again if it is the only time I eat out!

Eloy, our waiter, was very helpful, especially of the menu items & attentive. The first they brought to the table were the salsas. Let me tell you they are amazing. Si eres raza, your going to want to drink the salsas straight from the shot glasses theyre served in, delicious! We started with the Empalmes, those are bursting with flavor, especially if you add the green salsa on it. We proceeded to order the watermelon salad, which was just as enjoyable & fresh. It was very good. For our mains we ordered the Pollo Asado & the Short Rib. Dietary restrictions: This is the only restaurant that I know that when you walk in, the hostess will ask if you have dietary restrictions. Whats impressive is that when your waiter comes to your table, he follows up on the restrictions; in other words, it wasnt ignored. He then points out items in the menu you can have in observance of the restrictions. Our waiter, Eloy, was very good & helpful in pointing things out for our safety. Kudos to this place for that! Parking: The homeless in the downtown area are a little overwhelming. They hang out close to the restaurants. Parking is hard to find to begin with, so when you finally find parking, they hit you up for money, or tips for watching your car and/or a fee for washing your car (which that is understandable of course). Whether you pay or get free parking is the same. The City of Brownsville should hire them & make it official for them watching the cars. It would probably make the visitors to the area feel more at ease.

We went in today to eat with my family. It was our first time everything was great until we started to order. When the waiter asked my wife what she wanted she mentioned the tacos. Then waiter asked why tacos if you can get that anywhere and l felt that was disrespectful and I held myself pretty well not to escalate it. The food was great and it was that comment that was uncalled for. It s the first time I ve been to a restaurant to receive poor service.

HIDDEN GEM! In Brownsville TX, this is the closest you are going to have to a REAL Mexican Steakhouse. Steaks are great and their mixology is amazing but their appetizers and sides are EXCELENT! Fried cauliflower is a must try!! and the POBLANO mac&chesse is from another world, empalmes and aguachiles are great! Dont forget to ty their empanadas de cajeta. Great place with great food.

Food presentation was great. Flavor was alright not so fancily great. I was expecting way more for the price. Service was terrible. Above all we did enjoy the food. Except for the part where I told the waiter that it was my moms birthday (twice); we were obviously there to celebrate with her. Well he didnt acknowledge it until I payed the tab and he even laughed and played it cool. The best part of the food was the carrot cake. It took almost 15 mins for a Carajillo and the place wasnt even packed. For a $200 dinner for 3 people with a bad birthday experience Ill give it a star, but Ill mark it as 3 star review just because Ill be returning for the carrot cake.

The service was very bad from start to finish. The bartenders are not at the level of the restaurant. We are regular customers and we decided to leave. The food took a long time, from the beginning they did not bring us the sauces or the toast until I had to wait more than 15 minutes for a glass of water and ask for it 3 times. My appetizer arrived along with my main dish. And they never gave me the drinks my husband and I ordered. The food is very good but if the service is not up to par it is not a good experience. We are regulars here and eat almost every week and have eaten almost everything on menu lol one of the best restaurants in the valley and food and drink quality is superb. Eloy the server is always awesome and does great! Just all awesome food and I have taken large parties to me and my wife only and always consistent. Really very delicious place that I recommend, the dishes are a little expensive, all the sides are sold separately, portions large enough for two. Very delicious food. Personally, I recommend the delicious picaña and the very attentive waiter. Two bad things, the first are high chairs and high tables that are a little uncomfortable. Second, they dont give you a receipt or show you your bill, only the total.

They ask you for a reservation and they dont even answer the phone, the person in charge of the place looks you up and down to reserve a table and they dont let you in even though there are tables available, they should put a sign indicating if you have to be dressed as label so that they can serve you in a place that is in a terrible area far from everything and we couldnt even find parking, there are homeless people on the edge of the entrance on the street, that area is not one to be picky about the diners, please !!

They recommended this Restaurant to me and it was a great success, I am visiting and I come from Madrid. It is a very top place, centrally located, exquisite food from the hands of Chef Rafael Villalpando (baked cauliflower, empanadas, guacamole with chicharrón,...), delicious cocktails prepared by Bartender Francisco Zertuche, and there was no shortage of trying tequila from different cities, We were treated wonderfully by Ms. Esmeralda who prepared the cut of Ribeye meat and the manager Tere De la Rosa attentive at all times. For the incredible dessert we ordered Banana cajeta. A fabulous place to dine in my case with friends.

With all the recent growth in DT Brownsville, it is not rare to hear of a new spot interested in bringing a new concept to the valley. While many can attempt, not all do it with grace and caliber. Chilmoli does is with a bang. It provides a great experience and solutes to Mexican cuisine beautifully. Service is excellent (shoutout to Eloy Sanchez for creating a pleasant and attentive experience from beginning to end); food was delicious and surpassed the expectation. This is hands down the best steak I have had at any restaurant. Better than Ruth Chris, and the major steak houses in Dallas. I got the Ribeye and the cut of meat was phenomenal and very thick, this was not an ordinary Ribeye and for a making price for what you get. Cooked to perfection. Ivan was a very attentive server and did a great job It was fun trying all of their salsas and then very neat when they make a salsa. This place has very different options and flavors than normal restaurants and it makes it fun and interesting. The drinks were great as well. I would recommend to make reservations as I came here right at open on a Saturday and they agreed to sit me as long as I got out of there at 7. Glad I came was not expecting to have one of the best steaks ever! Parking: There is a paid parking lot across the street. there are people in the parking lot who will try to wash your car before advised.

I visited them again for the second time, I live in Mcallen, 95 miles away, and I can say that the taste is even better. We ordered a guacamole with pork rinds in La Ramos style, which was delicious, some delicious grilled shrimp, and a snook fish with esquites that he shared with me. Very nice restaurant, from the moment you enter you feel a good atmosphere. We had a reservation, I recommend making it, it is a very popular restaurant and you may not find the day or time you want to go. But in any case, do not hesitate to call directly (they will solve it for you) We were welcomed by the owner and our waiter Luis (very attentive and attentive) At the entrance you are greeted with a plate of delicious sauces and toast. The drinks are endless, 17 pages hehe the house ones, the typical ones, the classic ones, the strange ones hahaha well youll have to see them. And now you eagerly ask for several. The food is good. The atmosphere is great. This is a place where you have to make a reservation to be served. Downtown Brownsville is growing. At Chilimoli things are a bit different. For example,, someone goes to your table and asks what type of chile you want and makes a salsa in a molcajete. Make sure you arent in a hurry because the restaurant takes its time. Some things are worth the wait. Meals are a little pricey. You can expect to pay about about $75 per person for meals and drinks if not more.

Walking into this place feels like stepping into a cozy sanctuary where the musics just right, they quickly got our table ready, and the seats are super comfy, all matched with an impressive drink selection. I absolutely loved the crispy tortillas with those zesty salsas, especially the cauliflower and guacamole with pork chicharrón. I recently visited Chilmoli Mexican Steakhouse in Brownsville, TX and unfortunately, my experience was not great. My party and I had to wait for over an hour for our order, and when it finally arrived, we were served the wrong items. The food was also overpriced, with each platter for 4 costing $150. To make matters worse, I have been suffering from food poisoning for the last 12 hours after eating there. The restaurant seemed disorganized and in need of improvement. Arriving from Chicago it was my first visit to Brownsville Texas. I saw an older town struggling to come back to its heady days in the 1960s. I drove past a large shuttered SS Kresge store down to the Mexican boarder, I turned up another street, passed, then stopped in front of Chilmoli Mexican Steakhouse, a newly opened and inviting restaurant, I returned that night for dinner. What a delight, the staff was faultless, the steak was exceptional and the atmosphere friendly, Ricardo, one of the owners paid a visit to our table to ask if all was good ... HIGHLY RECOMMEND. From the moment you walk in the ambiance to this restaurant was warm & inviting. We were immediately sat to our table after reviewing our reservation to a nice table with very comfortable seats. I asked for my 18yr. Glen Livet scotch whisky and was served in a very nice glass. We were then brought a house appetizer of crispi tortillas accompanied with a variety of homemade salsas that were very fresh and flavorful with different degrees of heat on the tongue. We ordered appetizers which included quesobirra which was delicious and full of flavor. We also had guacamole which was topped with pork chicharon which was also very good and different. My main course was a juicy, tender and flavorful prime ribeye medium rare cooked to perfection. My wife had the wagyu tacos monterrey which come very well served topped with queso fresco. Her exact words were these are so tender & delicious. The servers & other employees were constantly checking our party of six with a great attitude and smile. This place has a variety of unique menu items that the chef has created. I will definitely be frequenting this restaurant. This restaurant has definitely raised the bar of fine dining in Brownsville. Called. No answer. Texted or contacted messenger, no response! So what s the point of having a phone number listed when no one answer and the voicemail doesn t work! Meaning, you can t reserve a table nor ask! I call this unorganized service! SAD! Good luck with the wait time! I m not even from Brownsville and I m all for supporting local business. PATHETIC!

Chilmoli offers a vibrant and unique culinary experience. The beet salad is fresh and balanced, the oysters are tasty, and the cauliflower with pistachio cream (my favorite) is a delicious surprise. Matamoros tacos are authentic and full of flavor. The salmon stands out for its exquisite preparation. The two drinks, one with guava and the other with apricot, are refreshing and perfectly complement the food.
