To start off, you pick your own seating. The waitreses were nice and attentive.I had the enchiladas with carne guisada plate! This is my go-to plate at mexican restaurants. I got my plate fairly quick. The enchiladas had good flavor, and the tortilla was soft. The carne guisada had a good flavor. Once I was finished, they offered me a complimentary dessert, but I was already full overall great experience!!

The food is very good, I ordered the avocado toast plate, but the bread was not toasted at all! Even so, the plate was delicious. The waiting time is around 20-30 minutes, the prices per person are around $20. The parking is a headache. Food : 4/5

Ordered Erics Pirata to go and got whatever this is, they insisted this is how they always make them. However when I ordered the same in the restaurant a few months ago, it was made with a huge flour tortilla. Inconsistent service and theres a 50/50 chance your waitress will be rude and disrespectful. Also went in one time about 40 minutes before closing and they refused to seat us. Shouldnt have given them another chance after that, guess thats on me

Toddle Inn is the OG breakfast spot in Brownsville where youll definitely see people you know, experience friendly service, and enjoy the best breakfast in town. I highly recommend the machacado con hues plate or any of their delicious flour tortillas with your choice of fillings. My fave is beans, eggs, potato and queso amarillo. Owner Mark Perez is almost always there making sure things are going well, and if youre lucky youll get to greet former Sheriff and Justice of the Peace Alex Perez (Marks dad). Parking: Lots of parking available on both sides of the restaurant. Kid-friendliness: Children are welcome here!

The food was amazing, the only annoyance was that they charged us $16 tip without asking us. I understand that sometimes they charge the tip when there are more than 6 people at the table, but there were only 3 of us!! and it is much more than 20%. They did not give us a receipt until after we paid. This is a big RED FLAG !!

I lived in Brownsville over 30 years and never went to eat at the Toodle Inn. I finally went and was blown away by how good it is. The menu had a huge variety from basic dishes to gourmet style dishes. Im a basic dish kind of person so I ordered a classic chorizo & egg taco with refried beans. Our server was excellent and friendly. She brought us three salsas to sample and enjoyed all three. Simply one of Brownsvilles hidden gems!

The service is fantastic, everyone is friendly and helpful and everything has been consistent for years. The food is always delicious, the coffee stays hot and the owner is soo nice. Highly recommend the tacos. Theyre huge! Barbacoa is so good. And the new churro waffle, so much crunchy cinnamon sugar! Our 3 year old loves it too! We will keep coming back! Kid-friendliness: Very welcoming to children, high chairs available, changing station for diapers in the bathroom. So many restaurants dont offer this... So helpful!!!

The food is amazing and the service was top notch. We had to change tables from the large main serving area to the smaller one because the ceiling fans are directly under the lighting and it gives off a blinking effect. This hurt my eyes and made my autistic daughter nauseated. If it werent for the lighting issue, this place would be perfect!

This place is a must when traveling to Brownsville, TX. Our family of 9 (3 adults and 6 kids) arrived around 1:30pm, we never felt rushed. We were welcomed with big smiles even though we were a large group. Our waitress was very helpful and patient (we tend to worry because of our 6 kids, 13 and under, as some people dont have the patience) but she was so kind to them. The food was AMAZING!! I ordered 1 carne guisada taco. It was huge and so delicious. The best Ive had hands down. Would definitely recommend.

The coffee still tastes like coffee, not watered down. They actually give you a bowl with enough creamers. You don t have to wave a waitress down to beg for more little creamer cups. The food is always prepped and delivered as ordered, and you actually get the portion you pay for. They have a great assortment of meal selections especially at breakfast; from Mexican to American to healthy. Also great to see a local restaurant owner that shares in the history of our city. Awesome polite and prompt staff as well, even when they are super busy. Vegetarian options: The assortment is there and wait staff will walk you through substitutions if you need. Dietary restrictions: The wait staff will walk you through it. Menu options are there. But if you re dieting really, ahh stay home. Parking: The parking is fine. It is shared with another local, but that s not a problem as the other place opens later. Like anything good, it fills up.

I would never go back to this place.I had a very bad first experience. We waited about an hour to get seated, finally we get a table, waiter takes about 20 minutes to get to us, takes our order and the food took 1 hour to be out. Im not sure if thats their usual service but I wasnt the only complaining about the wait time for the food. Finally after an hour the food finally came out and it was just ok, nothing outstanding. Waiter and manager didnt even care to apologize for the inconvenience.I would never go back.

Horrible service in every way possible. They take a long time to give you a table for 6 people because they wait to put two tables together when a single table can fit 6 if they know how to arrange the chairs. When they finally give me the table, they take the order, they give me the drinks. After an hour and a half my food still hasnt arrived. For this, I realize that the table in front of me already has their food and they arrived 30 minutes later. How is it possible that they give orders before yours? Its ridiculous and unacceptable. So I proceed to get up to ask to speak to the manager, and he never arrives. In short, I have to get up several times to look for someone to serve me because they never stop at my table to ask if everything is good or bad. At this point, super angry along with the rest of my table, we got up and left without eating and without anything. What was your response from the workers? HAVE A NICE DAY with all the cynicism, hypocrisy and falsehood in the world. Horrible, horrible service and the worst thing is that they dont care. Zero respect, zero teamwork, zero everything. If they dont know how to work and treat their clients, let them not work and close the place. They just waste peoples time. Too bad I have to leave a star, because they dont even deserve a star in their Google reviews.

While my wife and I currently reside in Houston, we both grew up in Brownsville, Texas (so we both love the RGV quisine!!) and thus were very familiar with the Toddle Inn Restaurant. Since most of my immediate family still lives in the Brownsville area, my wife and I often spend time there during the Holidays and other special occasions. Given our past positive experiences, my wife and I frequently stop by the Toddle Inn for breakfast or lunch. In all the years we have been visiting the Toddle Inn, neither of us have ever been disappointed in this restaurant. From the greeting with a smile that we receive at arrival, to the great service and tasty food...we became loyal customers a long time ago. While there are many tasty menu items, my personal favorites are the Carne Guisada Plate, El Valle Plate, and the Mexican Plate. While each of these plates comes with rice and your choice of beans, I always add their delicious fresh flour tortillas to my order as well. Their breakfast dishes have also always been top notch. Furthermore, during the Christmas Holidays of 2023, my wife and I were introduced (by Toddle Inns very own Mark Perez), to Churro Waffles. All I can say is wow!! Mark advised that they were the first to not only serve these, but believes they actually invented them (neither myself, nor my wife, had ever heard of them). I would highly recommend them to anyone who likes the taste of a Churro. However, now imagine that taste, in the form of a waffle, along with a generous layer of syrup!! So what makes this place so unique? In addition to the Churro Waffles, one key item for me is that the food served here is just like the great home cooking that I grew up on...always tasty and always served fresh. My wife and I both agree strongly that there are many restaurants in Brownsville, and while many are pretty good, Toddle Inn is one of the best. One top of all that, at Toddle Inn, we have always felt like we were getting excellent value for our money (not so common in these post COVID days). Therefore, in our eyes, this place is win - win on all counts...just get there before their 2:00 pm closing time (they do close early).

Do yourself a favor and stop in to the Toddle Inn!! Our party of 4 chose the Toddle Inn based on their menu and reviews, and the Toddle exceeded all expectations (knocked them out of the park, honestly!!). First we were greeted by a friendly server and guided to any table of our choosing, then were greeted by a different server that was assigned to our table- she was also friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. We were very excited to try their specialties including the Spanish breakfast with a flour tortilla, egg sausage gordita and spur tacos (you must try a spur taco!). Our server took special care to bring their homemade hot sauce/salsa varieties which were very delicious. And our meal arrived hot, fresh and within a reasonable time! And if our experience couldn t get better, the second generation owner treated us to his new Churro Waffle that was OUT OF THIS WORLD!!

The Toddle Inn is a great spot for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. Everything was so good. The kids had a Texas Burger and the Cowboy Plate, and they both loved their dishes. I had the Barbacoa a la Mexicana, and it too was perfect. It was not too greasy, and the tortilla was very good also. There is a reason they were voted best breakfast restaurant this year.

Me, my wife, my son, and his girlfriend just ate there today after church, and Alexandra the hostess disrespected my son by telling him he had to get rid of his drink he brought in. I mean, was it really bothering her? There was no reason why he had to throw away his drink which he paid money for. It wasnt causing anybody harm or bothering anybody, so Alexandra had no right or reason to tell him to get rid of it. Very rude and disrespectful. Never again will we come to this restaurant. If I could give 0 stars I would. And no, it wasnt the server, it was the hostess. And no Alexandra is not the sweetest employee obviously, because she was disrespectful to my son.

An absolute gem! My wife and I make it a point to visit this charming spot for breakfast whenever were in the area for the winter. Having frequented this place for 50 years, it feels like a piece of history to me. The quaint atmosphere, coupled with excellent food and top-notch service, never fails to impress. The staff is genuinely amazing, adding a personal touch that sets it apart from big chains. Its not just a restaurant; its a local treasure.

There is something different now. They used to be fast, food came out hot, coffee had a great taste, and prices were reasonable. Today, it was totally opposite. If you are in no hurry and you dont mind waiting for your food to come out, then this is the place.

I ordered stay fit breakfast. Very greasy. The bread was not toasted just soaked with butter. The eggs were so greasy they slided and just tasted like oil. Bacon not crispy and had oil. Put a napkin to soak up but it did not help. Nothing fit about this plate. Just a mess and had to throw it away. Never again.

Went for breakfast and the food was a major disappointment. My papas con huevo were swimming in beans that had the consistency of soup and the barbacoa was a greasy sloppy mess. I know the restaurant caters to an older crowd but some of us still can and like to chew our food.

Ordered the tamale plate for myself and the jr silver pancakes with a side of fruit for my 4 year old. We had a great morning. The tamale plate really made me feel like it was Christmas morning at my grandmas house. The atmosphere was very very comfortable. I loved seeing the regulars come in and out and being welcomed it made the atmosphere so comfortable and a home like feeling. I m a Brownsville native, but I ve never been here until today. Definitely will come again, our waitress was very sweet and attentive with us. Wish I could have gotten her name she was very kind. Also, the rice that came with my plate was FULL of flavor. I m very picky when it comes to rice, but this rice was one of the best I ve had!

We had the best server, Mirna! I order about 10 minutes after my sisters (arrived late) but my order came out with my sisters! The food was lacking salt but that can be added. I had to add salt and pepper to the beans! The Ranchero sauce was not spicy. The tortillas were huge but dry. The corn tortillas are store bought. The coffee was good! Their strawberry waffle was delicious! It was a little warm but we were sitting by the kitchen. All in all cute and worth the trip if Mirna is your server! Parking: To leave you have to back out of a one way spot .

We stopped by for a very late breakfast, we ordered the churro waffle (it was so good but I d order it as like a dessert to go with coffee) fruit pancake with whipped cream, avocado toast with sunny side up eggs, bacon and fruit, and migas with hash brown and refried beans with tortillas (this was so good I recommend it) the salsa they give is also so good to go along with your food!
