Second time here and came back for the crab cake so flavorful and delicious with the Cajun aioli sauce. Had the lunch special of fried shrimp, a hush puppy, and fries. All of it was yummy and will definitely be back. My server was sweet and kind and knew her menu! The View doesnt hurt either!

Had to try this place. Went during dinner time and boy was it crowded. There were five of us and was seated on deck. Beautiful view looking out over Belton Lake. Took over 15 minutes before the waiter showed up. Only willing to take drink orders, when returned abliged us to take our order. Finally food which was great showed up. For the price of the food --- was well worth it. Will be going back. Update: 04 June,2023. Well worth the price. .Food always excellent . Service was outstanding. Everything nice and clean. I highly recommend this restaurant try it and let me know. Update: 17 September, 2024. Stopped in for half price appetizers. Mmmm good. I still highly recommend this restaurant for some fantastic food. Excellent service and fantastic food.

I love this place. The atmosphere is laidback and peaceful. I always get a table by the large picture windows that look out on the lake. In the fall, I enjoy sitting outside on the patio enjoying my cocktail and good food. The prices are reasonable and the portions also you may need take out containers.

Called in a reservation the day before to dine in outside in the patio for 1:30. We had my sister and her family come all the way down from Houston to take our mother out to celebrate her bday. This was our first time here and I was recommended by my coworker and he talked up a storm about how great the food and atmosphere was. My mother has had so many health issues including cancer but since then has overcome that but has been battleling other health issues and my family and I wanted to do something special and for her to have a great experience of the outside patio watching the lake and feeling the nice breeze and enjoying the beautiful day that it was yesterday. We got there at 1:20 but we were told we had to wait to be seated because there were no tables outside in the patios after I had clearly made a reservation the day before and showed them my text message as proof of my reservation. The 3 girls up front were very unprofessional and we didnt get greeted and they didnt even ask if we had a reservation or anything. I dont want to pull the racist card out because my boyfriend is American and Im Hispanic and I know there is good people out there and want to believe there still is. I also didnt want to pull the racist card because there will always be racism no matter what and no one is ever going to change that except that individual that has hate towards colored people. All we can do is just pray for people like that because they obviously have hate in their hearts and life towards others and themselves but after I saw the way the girls up front were treating the Hispanics that were working outside close to their business or for their business you can tell they were very racist to him! The guy was trying to order food and a drink to go obviously because hes hungry and its 1:20 its past lunch time and Im sure hes on his break and is hungry but they turned him down because his English speaking skills were not good enough for them and they told him we cant understand what youre saying and told him they couldnt sell food to him and as he turned his back to leave the premises they laughed at him behind his back!!!! Very unprofessional I cant believe they have this kind of people working there as the hostess!!! The only good side that I saw in this situation is that at least the Hispanic/Mexican did his best to try to speak their language English and the girls turned him down because it wasnt good enough for them! You cant stick up for people now a days because if you do and youre brown skin odds are youre going to loose the fight there is no winning with people who have hate towards others. The only great experience that we had there was our waitress by the name of Amanda she was American and spoke Spanish to us which made us feel very welcome even though we all speak English and Spanish and understand it. I think she tried to apologize for the unprofessionalism of the girls up front. That is very nice thing of her to do and shows there is still good people out there but it was not her job to apologize for the unprofessional girls it was her managers and those girls job to apologize, but obviously they have no morals to do that. Amanda went to tell the manager about our experience as first timers and having family coming down from Houston. I saw her telling him and the girls up front but he never came to apologize himself either. My boyfriend who once again is American and I are never going back and definitely not taking his mother there either! To all those who are Hispanic/Mexican I hope you all have a better experience than what we did. We really enjoyed our dinner here. I was here about 18 months ago and it was so-so. I believe theyve vastly improved! The calamari and seafood gumbo were delicious. The portions were just fine, the drinks were good and the waiter, Cody, was fantastic. Cant beat the lakeside view. Ill definitely return, definitely recommend.

First time there, hostess put us in the best view table in the restaurant and pointed the cool-zone fan right at our table. Catfish was as good as any Ive ever had. Server was outstanding. Atmosphere and views top notch. Only complaint would be weak beer selection (I like more craft/local beer) but otherwise an excellent experience. Highly recommend.

My husband and I decided to try this place for a 2nd time. Tonight, it wasnt very busy. We were seated out where you can view the water. We were looking forward to our date night, but after sitting there for 18 minutes without a single waiter/waitress asking if we had been waited on, we decided to leave. As we were getting up to leave, a waiter finally said, What can I get you folks. but only waited until we stood up. I replied, Nothing, you were obviously too busy to even see if we needed water while we waited on you. in which he smarted off, Well, Ive been busy. There were tables open in the area we were sitting, and there was no wait time. They were not busy. He just sucked at customer service, so we went elsewhere.

May have been early in the evening on a Saturday. The drinks were great, we had five people at my table. The dinner plates were delicious however, when you have sides like corn on the cob, be careful, it had looked like it s been boiled several times and left in the pot to dehydrate. Then reheated by the time it got to me at my table and it was cold. Although we were just visiting for the weekend, I may come and visit again because the main dishes were great but the side dishes need some improvement. Also, if you ask your waitress or waiter, for a certain kind of liquor at the bar, they won t know. They didn t even offer to ask somebody if they had it in stock.

As much as we wanted to love this place, we ordered the calamari and left. The place is filthy, it was obnoxiously loud, the tables were dirty, the floor was dirty, the chairs were filthy. Everything was disgustingly dirty. The first table I was seated at had flies everywhere so I had to move to a different table hoping that would help. As soon as I got to the second table I noticed how filthy it was and so did the server. She made a feined effort at cleaning it. Even though she swished food all over the place, there was a pile of food on the floor that my feet were engulfed in so I had to ask if she would please claim that as well. The servers hygiene was waaasaaayy off. Their hair was all over the place, not even tied back, their hands were filthy, just disgusting. They all look like theyre 15 years old, which would be fine except they all just look like theyre ready to leave. Nobody really looked like they were serious about health or hygiene or their jobs. The food was as disgusting as the restaurant. I left. And Ill never be back.

We made a reservation to sit by the windows, and loved the view!! You really cannot get this view anywhere else around here. Downside to our experience was it felt like the AC was not working properly super sweaty our entire time there. The food and drinks are definitely a bit pricey for the quality. Drinks tasted very good, food tasted well too. Food is definitely small portions though! Would recommend this for lunch, not dinner. Boudin balls were amazing though, definitely get those. Service was mediocre, waitress didnt really check in on us, felt like fast food service. If your charging that much you should have an experience that is worth that much. Dead Fish Grill is a cool to experience 1 time in your life, but definitely not worth it to keep coming back.

I enjoy Dead Fish Grill. Its a beautiful place to sit and look out over the lake, especially on a rainy day. It is my go-to when I just need a just a nice night to myself. However, I was a little disappointed tonight. I ordered the Mahi Mahi with brussel sprouts. The Mahi Mahi was very good, but the Brussel sprout was burnt. Brussel Sprouts can be really good if done right, but REALLY bad if you miss the mark and these missed big time. I couldnt touch them. I recommend the Mahi Mahi but try to find a different side dish. If they cant give it, then go for something else. Ill still be back but not for the brussel sprouts.

My husband and I went for brunch this past Sunday. They only serve from the brunch menu until 1:30pm which I was a bit disappointed about since the brunch menu is limited, doesn t have much seafood. We got the shrimp and grits and the salmon salad. For $13-15 per plate, it was not worth the price. The salad was small. The description said there was feta cheese but there was no feta but too much Parmesan. The server said the fish would be cooked medium rare but it was more like medium well it was tasty though. The shrimp was super salty and the grits were basic. We got a side of asparagus which were shriveled and brown. The hush puppies were ok, sauce too salty. All and all not worth for the price. Nice view and the server and hosts were nice.

Foods is pretty good. drinks could be better me and my wife ordered frozen margaritas and it took about 30 minutes to get them, we got our entrées before our drinks and when we finally received our margaritas, they were all melted. So I had the waitress return it and have the bartender remake all of them there was no problem with that They brought them out pretty fast never had an issue with the customer service. The staff is really good there. Over all I will still keep coming here just not as frequently I feel like I can get better food and drinks for the same price at other competitor restaurants but what s sets this restaurant apart is the service and the atmosphere and it is a good place to go if you don t want to wait a long Time for your food or if you want to be away from noisy crowds. If I can change one thing about the restaurant to help management is to cycle items on the menu and make seasonal dishes because every time I came it s been the same menu and it s not a big selection.

Atmosphere is impressive. Its right on the lake. The inside was very inviting.The patio overlooking the lake (where we sat) was very nice and the server was very friendly. The margaritas were strong and tasty. However, there were WAY too many flies once the food arrived. Concerning the food... we had expressed to our waiting before ordering food that we had seen some reviews online mentioning poor quality of the food. The server seemed to agree that some items on the menu were not as good as others in quality. We ended up ordering the queso and chips appetizer and the calamari appetizer to share. The questo and chips were good, but the calamari was soft and chewy and greasy, not crispy and fried well like it should be. Yes, Im sure it was frozen calameri being here in Central Texas, but even frozen calamari can be crispy if cooked correctly. Seems the prior reviews about poor food quality are correct, at least with the calamari we had.

Went as part of a large group and they did well to keep service steady for everyone thought the event. Food wise they were out of a lot of menu items which talking to others there whove been before said it isnt uncommon. My first 2 choices were out so went with a steak and requested medium rare, however it was closer to well done. Portion sizes varied drastically for sides, some being a huge helping others just a few bites worth. Would recommend for the lake view outdoor seating area however be have a few choices ready when ordering.

From the minute you walk in, you get a vibe that youre going to enjoy the diner. You can sit in large groups or a small gathering. They offer outdoor seating as well. Its right on Lake Belton, and the water is beautiful. They are mainly a seafood place, like lobster, catfish, mahi mahi, but they also serve burgers. I went there with my mom and my dog for lunch. It was not crowded and seems a bit slow. So, there were enough empty tables available on the balcony. The restaurant is dog friendly. We got a caesar salad, rainbow trout, and mahi mahi. All tasted perfect. I would say Mahi mahi was the best one. Our server was Cody who was really nice and took care of us and my dog. Immediately after we sat down he brought a cold water bowl for my dog and greeted us with cold drinks. He was very helpful in selecting our meals. We went here looking for quality southern comfort food. We found it, catfish was crispy, salty with great breading. We asked for fries well done, they were done well. Desserts left nothing to ne desired We at pecan pie and pudding. The waitress was kind. Food came quickly. One of the best views in this area on the lake.

We met family here for dinner and drinks tonight. We had ordered mix drinks and shots. The bartender you g lady with dark curly hair came up to my brother in law with crackers and told him they were out of the cevichi but she brought him crackers because she felt he had too much to drink. Mind you he still had his entire drink and had only taken one shot. She was very rude and the whole thing was extremely embarrassing. We ended up canceling our order and leaving to eat somewhere else. The service beside this was horrid and slow. Very disappointed. Granted we havent been here since covid but we wont ever be back

We NEED a place like this, somewhere decent to eat that s a little out of the way. Atmosphere is great, beautiful views, calming peaceful, and also very Florida, which I love. Service was AWESOME, our server was attentive and very personable always around asking if we needed anything. The food unfortunately was not in the same standard as everything else. I could tell everything was cooked well and the ingredients seemed fresh. But the taste of almost every dish was just a little off. Some things were slightly sweet, while others were bland and unseasoned. The ceviche was very strange tasting and the Mahi Mahi Tacos, though beautifully cooked and presented, just didn t have a great flavor. The steak I ordered had an overpowering charred flavor and was slight unseasoned. I love the concept of this place and Inthink if you guys just tweaked your existing menu it would be just a go to spot.

Awesome view, the server was nice. The food is terrible. Took a while to get our food and I thought it is going to be quality because it took a while. The mahi mahi was dry and overcooked, the rice was raw, the garlic mushrooms were not seasoned. My husband ordered catfish and coleslaw. The cornmeal not sufficiently seasoned and the coleslaw had no dressing. This place is only good for the view. Bring your own food.

I was here for an event, and you cant beat the outside view. Its very serene. I got the shrimp and grits. The shrimp was good, but the grits were creamy thick but didnt have much flavor to it. My co-worker received some sort of gumbo. I cant remember the name. I havent been here in a while. I will probably come back but not in a hurry to.

As long as you know what to expect youre fine. Yes the food is very good and plenty of it. The seafood on our fried seafood platter (catfish, shrimp, oysters) was impeccable. Not fried into oblivion and just as importantly not undercooked. It came out piping hot. The fries were cooked through but not browned like they shouldve been. The garlic mashed potatoes were meh. The cole slaw was warm. It had a nice bright lemony flavor that paired well with the richness of the seafood but shouldve been cold. The hush puppies are *fabulous*. This is the only place in my 68 years (and my daughter who is 39) that we not only eat them, but would request more if we werent so full from the abundance of seafood. Will we go back? Yes! Weve been here before. When we want seafood, we know well get good seafood (and those hushpuppies). We dont go for the sides that come with it but do wish they were better - it was because of the sides that my Food rating is a 4 and not a 5. Now then....what to expect atmosphere-wise: If you go during rush (Friday and Saturday night - which we did) its going to take a while to get seated (an hour), and a while to get a wait-person and get your food (45 minutes after we sat down at our table). My Service rating of 3 was because of this. All of the staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating though - its just that theyre understaffed. Going when its not peak time may solve that. And (still talking about peak time) it is going to be noisy. Expect to use your lungs conversing with those youre with. So these times are when you want the typical party atmosphere. For a more relaxed (and quiet) time for enjoying the view and having a conversation while you eat, just pick another time. They do have a bar to enjoy alcoholic or non alcoholic concoctions. Along with inside dining, they have a lovely glass-enclosed dining area that provides a panoramic view overlooking the beautiful blue Belton Lake, and also have outside dining on a deck with the same view.

I will not waste good money here again. We got there, there was no one inside dining so we thought it would be perfect timing and we say outside. There was one family leaving and one couple on the patio. It took over 20 minutes to get our server to come out to us. We ordered appetizers... The queso was just white cheese sauce with a few peppers thrown in. Very bland The ceviche was a thick avocado paste with onion, cherry tomato halves, and what looked like pieces of bait shrimp in it. It tasted like guacamole. Another half hour later the server came out to ask us if we were ready to order. We ordered oysters on the half shell and mahi-mahi tacos. (Our server didnt have common sense enough to tell us that they were out of mahi-mahi prior, like perhaps when you serve the menus you let us know what youre out of !!!). That would really help us decide on what we want to eat, SO now it took another 20 minutes for our server to come out and see what I wanted instead of the mahi-mahi they were out of. I settled on the beef empanadas. The beef empanadas and ceviche were mixed up, Instead of the empanadas having a nice thick center it was all runny...... We could not eat the ceviche when we told the server she did Not care, you could tell she did not even want to listen, she did not even try make amends regarding the situation. Nobody came out to talk to us about it or explain why it sucked. I know I wont be back .

The view is always beautiful here. Waitress was great and attentive. Food was good. Would get another star but the seasoning on the shrimp and grits wasnt as good as the last time we were here. Update: Brought out of town family out for a bite and one of the best views in town. They had some hiccups with service during a very busy Sunday brunch (pro tip: make reservations.) But it gave us more time to talk with our family. Food was terrific and that chicken fried steak with grits is now the wifes favorite. Both eggs Benedict dishes were excellent (one pictured and the other a crab cake version.) Shrimp and grits were better this time and, overall, had a great experience. Update2: Brought more out of town family in. Why wouldnt I bring them here, right? This time had BBQ burger, pulled pork sandwich, fish tacos and an unphotographed gumbo (that someone dug into before it hit the table because it smelled so good.) Another great time here! Update 3: Seems like it is becoming a habit but I dont know how you can avoid the view here for long. Brought more family to try it out. It does look like they changed the way they make their chicken fried steak. As you will see in the photo, it is served with brussel sprouts and creamed corn. Well, the photo here shows it with just the gravy but it was interesting to see mashed potatoes on the side, chicken fried steak sitting on sprouts and a separate bowl for gravy. Plating just seemed a little off as our family members that had creamed corn had 2 bowls on their plate. But, meal was good and we enjoyed another evening here.
