Ill change to 5 stars if anything changes. I paid retainer fee for the attorney. Its been over a month ago. Well hes only seen my boyfriend once. I can never seem to get a hold of Magana. Now that Im in town I call to see when I can go see the attorney, Im told 2 different things that he wont be in office till Wed and I was also told that hell be in the office tomorrow. I was told good things about Magana. Im hoping hes a good lawyer. Ill change it to 5 stars and change my review if things change for the better. I would hate to change to 1 star and make this review bad.

My brother was going down for a simple traffic stop gone wrong. He was being charged with 2 copy 1st degree felonies. The police who I normally have mad respect for, especially since I served as a Marine for 15 years, were in the wrong completely about how everything went down. I know that undoubtedly, there is training for these situations, especially if someone is being cooperative. Mike and Nathan took control of the situation and presented it with the straight facts to defend my brother, where the other doctored up the truth. My brother was found not guilty after a 3 day trial and they worked with my brothers hard situation having to serve over 9 months in jail after being beaten and then beaten more in jail for several charges he was found not guilty for. My brothers life was turned upside down from a situation that could have been a simple traffic ticket. Mike and Nathan saved my brother from a terrible life. If you are looking for anyone to represent you in the courts its these gentleman and their outstanding assistant Amy she was absolutely amazing with working with us in figuring out the day to day and with constant updates. While I never wavered in my belief of my friends innocence, Mike Magana and Nathan Obarra did a remarkable job in defending him! Not one juror found him guilty on either charge. Mike and Nathan defended me in trial on April 9th 2024 the charges against me were 2 first degree felony s against public servants (DPS officers) I was found not guilty on both counts by every jury member. It looked bad cause the officers wanted me to go down and 5 officers actually testified as witnesses against me. It took 3 days to complete the trial but from day one it was known who was in control of the courtroom and that was Mike and Nathan. I completely recommend them both as trial lawyers and if you think you gotta take it to trial they better be on your list for hire.

Wow, what an amazing experience. I came to Mr Maganas office for help. I was facing 10yrs for a Felony 3. We were in court 3 days this week and the State was pressing the 10yrs even with minimal evidence(if you can call it that). Mr Magana went straight to work and fought for my freedom. His hard work and his amazing skills resaulted in a NOT GUILTY for the Felony 3 and charges were dropped to a Misdemeaner and probation. Wow, simply wow!! Allows clients cases to be drawn out forever. An innocent person, false accusations, has been waiting for trial for years, keeps getting postponed yet has already been paid in full. Update...its been 2 years since the first part of my review shown here and his client still hasnt gone to court, now pushing 7 years of no trial. BEWARE of this attorney...he takes your money and does nothing. Its now been over 9 years and he still hasnt had his day in court. Pays $250 a month for an ankle monitor, which his attorney wont even try to have removed even tho hes shown a history with no problems. He pays for random drug tests, which he always passes. The attorney wants more money, yet he still hasnt done much. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE RIGHT FOR A SPEEDY TRIAL? Something really needs to be done about this. Prayers to God!

This is a very busy and very organized and serious law firm the customer service is stellar and the atmosphere is upbeat and positive. Id leave 0 stars if I could. Doesnt know his clients names or case information even after prolonging a felony case he promised would be dismissed almost a year ago. Treats family of the defendant like they dont mean anything. Refuses to listen to the whole story. Has to be refreshed every time he meets with a client. Spends 5 min and doesnt do a thing to defend the client. Says he will take care of you then throws you under the bus. Worst experience with an attorney Ive ever had and that includes my ex-husbands slimy divorce attorney!

A very unorganized and irresponsible law firm. Nathaniel Opara was my attorney. I live in Houston and the case took place in Belton. There were multiple times of my court date was reset, and I was neglected of being informed. Therefore, I drove to Belton from Houston multiple times just to discover that my case had been reset. The secretaries were incredibly impatient and rude with sheer bitterness. On top of that, I felt that I was not defended with vigor and my attorney provided me with a limp-fish performance. I feel that one would be better off being one s own attorney.

You get results with Mike Magana. Everything he said he would get done for my fiancés case he did. Aggravated assault charge with deadly weapon down to misdemeanor. His employees were very courteous and helpful. He is busy and has lots of cases because he is good at what it does. He is not always unavailable, but he is available when it matters. Did it take time? Yes. Did the courts constantly postpone the case? Yes. There are many moving parts. Have trust and patience.

This review is what I have experienced, so your results may vary. From the beginning he was aware of my financial issues but he accepted me anyway. Throughout the process, his staff kept me informed and continued to stay in touch. Definitely a BIG shout out to Manny!! Most of these reviews with low ratings are probably because of no/less payment or is flat out disrespectful. The man is heavily sought out by many clients and stays in the courthouse regardless of counties. This man magically had my fiance s charges from some prison time (5 years) to being re-instated probation. Additionally, he fixed another lesser charge with Time served. Honestly, if anyone has an issue with this law firm is because they re impatient, lack communication skills and simple understanding of the process. Is he expensive? Yes, but because his work ethic justifies it. Is he busy? Of course, plenty of clients from the primary location and surrounding areas. I will continually utilize him and recommend him to everyone. Do NOT do business with this law firm. Everyone is rude, does not call, or email you back. We showed up to court several times just to find out it was cancelled. We drove 3 hrs one way and our lawyer did not notify us of the rescheduling. My husband had to drive 3 hours to just sit in his office and wait for him to become available because we could not receive a response. Case went on for 3+ years. Communication was awful. My best friend has paid and paid . This so called attorney did not relate nor okpp,communicate to her the offer the court gave her which was community supervision . He allowed this case to drag n 4 years , and my friend now has to do 1 year state jail . How many lives has messed with by his lack of legal ethics ? He is known locally as an ineffective lawyer , whom , in my opinion , does not have the time to invest in his craft or inform his clients of what the D.A /judge may have offered the defendant . has told me she is going to file a complaint with the state bar . He is responsible for not presenting her with the offer of community supervision . I read the reviews on Nathan Opara and thought maybe I would have better luck.... negative. Horrible experience. Weve been working with him since Sep. 2021 and all we get is unanswered messages, due dates go unmet, even just our request to get a copy of our paperwork has taken over a month and still counting. Amy (receptionist) is rude and annoyed at any question you ask her. Weve had 3 appointments all of which we show up and Mr. Opara is unexpectedly out, paperwork not ready, etc etc. We paid $1k for them to mail out a letter that I HAD ALREADY TYPED UP AND PREPARED, he just had to move to his letterhead. 5 months later, we still have no copies of letters sent, no mailing confirmations and now we cant even get our original documents back. Save yourself the trouble.

If you re looking for a lawyer to communicate with you, Nathan Opara is not it. If you re looking for a lawyer to fight harder for you than the person/people against you, Nathan Opara is not it. It took over a year to get my divorce final and in all that time I had to beg for him to return my calls and e-mails. He didn t fight for me at all and told me I needed to do more research as if that isn t what I paid him for! He fought harder for the other party than me. An absolute waste of my time and money. Mr. Magana was court appointed for my nephew. When people found out who we had as an attorney they begin to tell me how bad he was, how all he wanted was money and didn t do anything for their case. Needless to say I was skeptical going in although a very busy man Mr. Magana was passionate, caring and did what he said he was going to do! He may text you and say 32 min or when he walks by you he may give you a one min sign, his voice mail may be full or he may not return your call as soon as you want, but if Michael says imma get him out you better believe he s a man of his word! We had the honor of watching Michael work at the court, he ran from one end to the other while on the phone with a client and being stopped by clients asking when are you getting to me. After that long day in court he would then go to his office after 5pm and see upwards to 20 people. Mr. Magana told us guys I m going to get him out and after only two weeks he did Dec. 22, 2021 a Christmas miracle. My advice is not to listen to others, form your own opinion because ever case is different. But if Michael Magana says he s going to do it I assure you that he will. How many attorneys will give you their personal cell phone number and let you blow their phone up and text them 24/7 and when you see them greet you with compassion and a smile. If I hadn t t been a part of my nephews case I would have never gotten to meet a really good man, on behalf of my nephew, my family and myself Thank you Mr. Magana with all our hearts.

Well so far I am pleased with his staff and his attitude concerning the case discusses. He seems confident and I like the no nonsense , but pleasant atmosphere during the entire consultation and short wait. . I guess his service is only good for his paid clients just because the court appointed you doesn t mean you get to be less of a lawyer and I understand COVID has been an issue for sure for a lot of things and that s understandable but to not communicate with your clients is very unprofessional how do you not know what s going on and the ladies that work in the office don t never know what s going on and I know they get a lot of heat from that but can t blame nobody but their boss.

Mr. Magana has been a God send to me and my family. My husband was locked up for 6 months with no end in sight until we found magana. Went in and spoke to him and I left feeling at ease regarding my husbands case. He really leveled with us, and assured us of everything we needed to know. I am the Aunt of Richard Gene Applegate. Ricky had Mr. White as his court appointed lawyer. And hadnt done one thing to help him get a bond release or reduction and had been in jail since Oct 2020 this is now Late Mar 2021. I am writing a review due to my son experience with Michael J Magana & Associates. My son was incarcerated for three-month with an appointed lawyer by the name of Michael White. After several attempts to get help to have my son released on a reasonable bond, while under Michael White counsel was all a failure and cause my family a lot of stress. I stayed prayed up and ask God to lead the way. My son baby mother and her grandparents contacted me and ask would I go talk to Michael J Magana & Associates and that is where I needed to go. My son also advises me to contact him and I did just so. Michael J Magana listen to my family concerns and went to speak with my son the very next day. After my son spoke with Michael J Magana, he called and said He felt strong about this attorney! At that time he decided to hire him. I would talk to Michael J Magana & Associates for my son, Mr. Michael J Magana said he was putting in the proper paperwork to ask to sub and ask for a bond reduction court date. Michael White was procrastinating on signing the requested documents. After speaking to Michael J Magana & Associates, we were told that our son would be home before Thanksgiving. My son baby mother & my family was very confident in his words in spite of all the negative things Michael White had to say toward Michael J Magana & Associates. For example: He would take the money and my son will still be in jail. He cant do no more than what I can do. He stated I was making a BAD decision, I had seen Michael White in court on my son case and wasnt happy. Mr. Michael J Magana was very respectful about the negative comments that Micheal White and others said about him, he explain his views, gave background information of his work and stated your son will be home before Thanksgiving. My son is home just as Michael J Magana & Associates stated. This is worth posting, he was a man of his word and My family is happy with his services. Michael Magana deserve a 5 .

The worst law firm I have ever worked with... Took my wifes money $500.00 retainer and never did anything on her case, my wife had to hire another lawyer and paid him 500.00 also, he got the job done and said it only cost 375.00 and refunded my wife the balance of the retainer 125.00. I was told by Michael J Magana & Associates that they would refund my wife her money and the refund check would be mailed with in a week or so.... thats been months ago. Trust me, Im a 70 year old disabled VN soldier and my advice is that you dont use Michael J Magana & Associates! Find an honest law firm that has your best interest heart and not their pockets! I have read some other very bad review about Michael J Magana & Associates just keeping clients money and not doing anything.... Its alarming to think hard working honest people are getting ripped off by the very lawyers they are paying to protect them!

Paid Mr. Magaña the money that he wanted to be my sons attorney on December 14, 2019. Said he would also have him sign a paper to be his court appointed attorney. I have provided all the paperwork for the charges that my son is facing, court dates, and everything that he has regarding this case! Met him at his office on 02/17/2020. Made a plan to meet at Falls County jail for the paperwork to be signed and him to bail my son out. He never gave me a time, quit responding to texts, refused to answer his phone, no one at the office could get ahold of him. And still to this day, have not heard from him. Now, here we are 2 days before my sons first court date for his plea deal deadline, and still, no paperwork signed, no action plan, no help anywhere in site, as Mr. Magaña is a vanishing attorney! Steer clear of him if you do not have at least $10,000 or more to flash at him! Money is the only way to get his attention apparently! Now, I am trying to get the money I paid him back, since he has not done a dang thing on this case AT ALL!

Well for one he was court appointed to me for a Bell county case fine.so I had another case in milam county and I hired him to represent me there and paid 1,500 dollars to do that but he never showed up to represent me so I had to get a court appointed attorney and I get sent off to prison for almost 5 years so when I get back out I go by his office and ask for my money back and he said what do you want 200 dollars and we are good and I said know I want it all back and still to this day I have not seen a dim . But I got another agency working to get my money back. So I would not recommend for anyone to go to him at all he is a crook....

After 2 years waiting for him to start a lawsuit his private investigator was very disrespectful to my mother and me and told us that unless we paid him 15,000 dollars he would not move forward on a lawsuit that was supposedly being taken care of for 2 years I told him I can t come up with it and he just walked out of the room. Words cannot express how great Jason Bailey is. His attention to detail is exceptional and I have never seen someone so quick on their feet with follow up questions. I have been using the Michael J. Magana & Associates Law Office since 2010. Over the past three years, I have had nothing but great things to say about this law office. Michael Magana got both of my misdemeanors dismissed and expunged. Stephen DeBye won my custody battle and I was able to get sole managing conservatoriship of my son without geographical restriction. They have always been able to work with me financially. I would highly recommend this law office if you need experienced, professional lawyers.
