I did the application online. Someone called me on April 23,2024 and Took all my information. She was not rude or anything. Then I get an email an hour or so later saying I was denied. The next day, I go to the office to get a complain form or something to file an appeal. Google says they are open until 5pm. It was 1238pm when I arrived. Got there and the door says they are closed at 12. It would have been great to know that before I wasted gas since im jobless at the moment. Lastly, its hard to say if they are truely busy based on reviews since a lot of people do not post reviews, or its usually people who got upset about something that do, but I will say, I wish they tell us ahead of time if they are taking certain cases or not so that I dont have to waste time giving all my personal information just to be denied. It really seems like there needs to be a better system in place. Plus, the resources they give does not help either so its pointless to giving out that. Im not going to just say lonestar leagal aid, but, Texas overall can do better to help its most vulnerable population demographics.

It seems the feedback is consistent from most of the comments. They get your information and then give you a callback from one lawyer. You better get all the advice you can because afterward, theres a high possibility youll be denied due to them being understaffed.

My personal experience with Lone Star in Belton, TX has been a great one. The online application was easy to complete and I received a call back the very next morning from the receptionist, followed up with a phone consultation with an attorney before noon. The attorney was very informative in explaining the laws, hearing process, including an appeal if necessary. He had already done his research before our call, and with less than a week to prepare he was able to get my case dismissed.

The head legal attorney is so rude and unprofessional and didnt even try to help both times we spoke ... Rachel seemed more interested in hearing herself talk than to get all the details and make a feasible hypothesis ... I would rather have no representation at all then to have an attorney who was only intrested in her own voice!! Lets not get into the fact that Im positive she gave me the wrong legal advice!! Never again!! Dont waist your time!!

Was directed to this Lonestar legal aid from the Bell County domestic violence support for legal stuff and the reply I got to my application is they don t have enough workers to help with my case so the only free legal aid in Bell County is supposedly too busy to take my case. how is free legal aid that s funded by the government to help those financially in need and they can t even help them? more like they are picking and choosing who they want to deal with and they feel my case is too difficult. another failure For Bell County cannot wait to leave the state

THE WORST customer service coming from this location. I got a call this morning from possibly the rudest, snootiest, self righteous woman I ve ever spoken to. And I got all of that in like 5 sentences. Bless your poor soul if you actually REQUIRE services from this attorney because the assistant is a nightmare. I would suggest do almost anything else but asking for insight, advice, or help from this particular attorney. The staff reflects an awful experience from the start.

ATTORNEY BRANDY HOWARD missed her appointment with me for (Jan. 15th 2021 at 10:00 A.M.) and ONLY called back like 10-15 minutes later (after I called 3 times to see why BUT STILL was never able to reach anybody/ AND then sent an e-mail to the Mrs. Harley the intake officer to let them know I would be filing a BODA report and filing Federal Lawsuits against this facility and all parties involved. This is a State facility that is supposed to HELP disabled persons regarding legal matters that they may be facing.) Her excuse was that she had a family matter that she was attending to right at that moment which was more important. (IT WASNT and You know that BRANDY, because you told me what the reason was..!!) Attorney BRANDY HOWARD, if you CANNOT even dedicate your time to the job when you are on the clock working for the State of TEXAS, why are you working here BRANDY? YOU missed the appointment for 10:00 AM, NOT me!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL of Attorney Brandy Howard. Also: I CHOSE NOT TO TAKE your legal services and that was specified on the phone BUT YOU put on the paperwork I received a few weeks later to explain why my case was CLOSED that your office DID NOT have enough staff WHICH IS complete BS and YOU know it.!!! (Attached TWO photos this). Although YOU said on the phone that I would have ACCESS to legal counsel that could help me with different civil cases or cases that needed to be addressed in District Court). THAT IS FALSE, INACCURATE information YOU provided on legal paperwork sent to me, I spoke to another office handling management of the legal services and they said YOU DIDNT do the procedure right. I was supposed to be given a WITHDRAWAL form which you FAILED to do. WHY are YOU working HERE???!!! THIS IS ILLEGAL what YOU DID.!! Extremely UNPROFESSIONAL of Attorney BRANDY HOWARD and hope this doesnt ever happen to anyone else seeking counsel through THIS Legal Aid Office of Belton, TX. I HAVE filed a BODA report with the Chief Disciplinary Counsel on BRANDY HOWARD and rightfully so. AM I WRONG Counselor HOWARD?? NO. I WILL NEVER seek legal counsel again from any Lone Star Legal Aid Office in the State of Texas ever again because of how all this was handled. Extremely AWFUL experience and VERY concerning if this is what disabled people have for legal representation within Bell County.. VERY SAD and UNFORTUNATE. THIS LAWYER SHOULD NOT be working for this office If this is how SHE IS GONNA act. Plain ILLEGAL behavior on her part to falsify information on STATE documentation. These folks are amazing. They do so much to help the community and with so little. Their response time was same day and this on several different occasions. They all listen, from the person doing the intake to the legal assistant to the lawyer. Does anybody work here? I never get an answer when I call whether it be weekdays, weekends, daytime or night. The voicemail says speak slowly leaving your name and number and we ll get back to you. I m no longer waiting or expecting a call back. Such a shame. I m discouraged to go there in person though I m within 20 minutes if the service is anywhere close to the unreliability of there listed contact information.

While they say they offer legal aid to people unable to afford it, I haven t seen them help yet. I have gone to them twice and got nothing. The last time, my Mom qualified for their services, but they couldn t offer assistance because they didn t have an attorney available to work her case. By the time we got their response of not having an attorney available, we were down to just 3 business days before my Mom s answer was due to the court. Seems super-inefficient. Why take an application and make us get you all the information when, in the end, you determine that someone qualifies for your services but you don t have an attorney to help???? You may as well put up a sign that says not taking applications until attorneys are available to help. I am sure they are helping someone, somewhere. It s just a limited few.

Yes, it can be hard to get in touch with them at times, but you have to remember, they serve Thousands of individuals with complex legal issues. So first Id like to state that I am Caucasian, and the service I have received is fantastic! Keep in mind that these services are free, and most people that have bad attitudes have bad experiences! My attorney has done EVERYTHING in his power to help me. Where I thought there was no hope, he showed me the law. I am extremely grateful for their services. That and the kindness and understanding. I have officially had an horrible experience with this place. My daughter was sexually abused while in her fathers custody and these lady had the nerve to tell me after Ive explained how her father wont speak to me and after I have explained this individual lives in the same place as her father where she does visitation. She told me that we need to co parent about this situation and if I refuse to let her go back then Ill be contempt of court. I have officially lost my respect for this place. Your suppose to help people not pretty much send a 5 year old child back to the place she got raped! I will never ever tell people to use this place !
