Looking for a hearty breakfast? Stop in at the Black bear diner! On the way to an athletic competition, we were looking for a place to have breakfast. It can be tricky when you have three people looking for different things on a menu. Black Bear hit it out of the park. My son had the chorizo burrito, my husband had pancakes, and I had avocado toast. Crystal, our server was wonderful and kept the tea and coffee poured. Stop in, eat well, and say hi to Crystal!!

Great friendly place. Warm welcome when we walked in. Seated quickly and drinks order taken quickly by a very friendly server. Lots of choice on the menu. The food was hot, tasty and fresh. The sides were excellent. The mashed potatoes and onion rings made the meal. Large portions of food as well we had to ask for a box for our leftovers. I would highly recommend the Black Bear if you are in the area.

We love Black Bear Diner - it is our go to for breakfast out! We also enjoy the dinner menu too. Try the cheeseburger salad or the tri-tips. You will not be disappointed! I recently visited 2 weeks in a row and Crystal served me both times. She is a fabulous server! Attentive, but does not hover. Order repeated to us and brought our correctly! As always, the food was delicious! The breakfast potatoes are so yummy and that biscuit!! WOW!

The food is great and the portions are exceptional, sometimes too much but no complaints. Our waitress Ashley has to be the worst. She had attitude from the start. I dont respond well to rudeness. She never came back to check on our table of two. We sat waiting for her to come back as another table was seated with 16 the all had their drinks and ordered before we saw Ashley again at which time I told her I did not care for my meal. She did not say a word took the plate and came back and sat the ticket on table no manners what so ever. No have a good day lastly say they will get you on the way out. I am very disappointed in this location. We are from Louisiana and make special trips to go to black Bear. We will drive further and go to the league city location. Much friendlier and food tastes better.

We just went there after a graduation ceremony at 9pm, theres 15 of us altogether, and the manager on duty named Roy Thompson was being rude, racist and said they could not and will not accommodate all of us even if we asked to be seated in different tables. We even called ahead of time to get reservations since theres many of us, but they dont want us to do it and was told to be in the restaurant. Most of us are Asians and just want to have dinner celebration and this guy denied us. There were family of 7 ahead of us, white people, and they were accommodated. There are lots of vacant seats and looks like this guy doesnt want our money. So we will never eat at this place ever, nor give them our money!

Had never ate at one so wife and I tried it out for lunch. This was also on (April 1, 2024) although this is a legit review! Atmosphere and decor was very nice with a very pleasant staff. I had ordered the suppose to be meat loaf with mashed potatoes and green beans. My wife ordered the Pot roast with green beans, nether of them had any resemblance of good flavor at all. They were both very mundane at best and only the onion rings and mashed potatoes were good. This was our favorite diner to eat at. This is where out sons requested to bring friends and celebrate their birthday breakfasts at, but todays experience has changed that. The food was subpar at best, the fruity bear claw had this funky smell that hit you square in the nose and I couldnt even take a bite. But what disappointed me the most was paying almost $4 for a cup of coffee and over $5 for a cup of orange juice. The only good quality that remained was the staff and for that Im thankful for.

Not sure if there are two shifts. Because last night had great service, food etc. But this morning one of the worst dining experiences I have had in a long time. Was sat at counter, right in front of where the wait staff plate food. My order was simple, coffee, water and 2 pancakes. It took more than 10 min for the waitress to even take my order. Had to ask for cream, then had to ask for a spoon to stir my coffee. I see the kitchen place my pancakes on the pass through. They sat long enough to get cold all the while my waitress is gossiping with others. At least 6 waitstaff passed my food sitting paying no mind. There were no other orders on the screen but mine. Finally a different waitress noticed and gave me my food. But the pancakes were cold to the point the butter wouldn t melt on them. Edges were burnt one side and other side barely tan. Never once was I offered more coffee so my coffee sat empty the majority of the time seated. Only time my waitress paid attention was when I placed everything on my plate to bring me a check as of saying pay up and get out. I will go to Cracker Barrel next time and not waste my time or money here.

Decided to go here after hearing how much food you get. Its true too, this place is not greedy and will load your plate with some fantastic tasting food. I feel like I get my moneys worth every time. The atmosphere is nice and so are the workers. Black Bear diner is becoming more of a weekly ritual. I always try something new and havent been let down yet. Been a really nice experience and getting the full price of my food Is a big plus. Parking: Black bear is joined to a truck stop gas station. Parking is plentiful with options. Kid-friendliness: Not only is it a great restaurant its also paired with a great truck stop. Theres a small arcade in the truck stop with a small/moderate selection shopping as well. Great to pass time if your waiting for a seat in the diner.

Not sure why this place has good reviews, at least for breakfast. The orange juice they serve tasted like Tang, if you remember the powdered drink. The pancake was not cooked completely and we had to ask twice for syrup. The biscuit tasted like two day old stale bread. Nothing was fresh with the exception of the eggs. The potatoes tasted like they came out of a frozen bag and were mass cooked. There was no crisp to the hash browns. The hash was really dry and inedible. I ll never go again

I LOVE IT! And heres why...Beaumont was in desperate need for a quality cafe, and The Black Bear Diner fills that void completely! Bring your appetite and expect to wait during peak breakfast hours, but when you are seated in this rustic mountain cabin atmosphere, your mouth will begin to water for all of their extensive offerings! Any meal combination possible is available all day. I chose to have the breakfast designed from 3 columns of egg, meat, and either waffle, french toast, pancakes or biscuits & gravy. Topped off with a few shakes of the Papa Bear Hot Sauce & bottomless coffee, I left with a full belly, leftovers for later, and a smile that held me all day long! Easy on the pocket book too, at an average cost of $15+, Black Bear Diner will see me again and again in the very near future! My family and I throughly enjoyed eating here. First of all, let me tell you, I. CAN. EAT. I love to eat food and lots of it but I could not finish the dinner Bigfoot meal. Let me tell you, WOW! My daughter had the ScramBOWL and she was blown away by it. She said there was a little heat due to the jalapenos but it was an awesome taste. My wife got the Bears Choice breakfast meal and let me tell you that the waffle is fantabulous, the waffle is light, fluffy and perfect. Just go give it a try and you should enjoy yourself.

The food was great. The portions are huge. Our waitress, Tristan, was excellent! Our drinks were never empty, and she refreshed our coffee to keep it hot. She was always smiling and accommodating. It is things like that that make Black Bear Diner so great!

3rd time weve been to their Beaumont, TX location on Waldon Road. They always serve BIG portions. The food taste GOOD and is well prepared. The reason I did the three stars is I ordered a side included with my meal but is was listed separate on the receipt. The server said that is normal but I dont ever remember them listing the fries or red potatoes separate on the receipt. And if that is the case I had cheese and bacon added to my burger, which is an additional fee but that was not listed separately either. I am pretty sure my server double charged me for it. Yes I am going back but I will be ready this time.

The bear theme is cute. Our waitress, Tristan I think, was decent.. food came out and the hollandaise sauce was very broken. It still tasted good and I asked our waitress not to take it back but she came back after speaking to her manager and she took it anyway because the manager told her to.. so now my whole family is finished eating which is the reason I didn t want to send it back to begin with with and it comes back out again and the sauce is still broken but not as bad.. so I just didn t say anything this time. I finish eating and then go to put the kids left overs in a box and there s a hair in one of their pancakes.. the cinnamon roll French toast had so much cinnamon you couldn t taste anything else.. the hash browns were cooked in some areas and nearly raw in others and were not seasoned at all I had to add salt. burgers were good.. I wouldn t recommend it unless you re there for a burger and fries and even then id inspect everything before you eat it in case someone shed in it. I will say the Best part was the huckleberry lemonade It was absolutely delicious. *** Edited to state that I did email the owner 2 days ago as requested in the comment below and have not received any phone call or reply to my email. Seems that their comment was just for the public eye. I m changing my review to 1 star just for this. Y all need to get it together. At this point I m also not interested in a resolution. Just don t go here

For me this was a great diner to stop at. The steak was seasoned perfectly, great potato and for me the broccoli was cooked to perfection. Not soggy but had just the right snap to it . My server Ms. Stacy was on top of her game and such a sweetheart.

This has a typical diner atmosphere. the food is support. I ordered the avocado toast and all I can say about it is it shouldnt be on the menu pbread. They have decent diner coffee. And if nothing else is open and youre starving to death. I guess it will suffice. but if anything else is open and youre not in the middle of a weather emergency. And see comma I would recommend you try somewhere else.

Traveling to TX...spent the night next door to this great black bear diner when I checked out from the hotel and I was recieved very kindly by the waitress and placed my order and was very much impressed with what my breakfast was all about...lol...so waitress checked on me at all times I felt very comfortable. Ordered one of there benedicts and it was really good. Their biscuits are homemade and really big and really good as well. The only thing I was disappointed in was their pancakes were really big and delicious but they dont give you enough syrup for them so you have to keep asking for more and more syrup because the syrup just soaks it all up. They should keep the syrup out on the table with the condiments it would be alot easier

Perfect place for breakfast (and probably lunch and dinner). Interesting history on the table mats. I had no idea it was an expanding chain as the atmosphere was very much more like a one-off local restaurant. OK I need to get out more. When the power unfortunately went out and they couldn t run credit cards they said you only need to pay if you had cash but when it was time to pay they were very reluctant to take my cash!
