Prices are getting ridiculous, the food is mediocre, and the cashier was kind. I paid roughy $20 for a sandwich combo (fountain drink, chopped beef sandwich+ 1 small side). I did add a small cobbler but it was ice cold. First time.... But now I know.

7/8. Hurricane Beryl after party, Mondays lunch at Buds BBQ in Baytown. Ive been through a few hurricanes before and driving over to this restaurant on Garth where the power was on, and they were dishing the meals out, mainly an overflow here because the McDonalds next to Garth was backed up with hungry people on all sides. So, seeing some destruction to my fellow residents property on the way over here makes a person hungry, I suppose now. I feel blessed today for making it through my sixth hurricane while living! I actually tried the Vietnamese restaurant next to here first, but they forgot to unlock their only door open. So, no Pho today. Since this was a hurricane meal after party for me, for a straight long national holiday week. Buds fried fish with 4 shrimp and their 2 fried fish with fries plates both appeared appetizing. Yes, for two pieces with fries, it was overpriced. So I added a side of okra and a side pinto beans to spread it out for my stomach. The restaurant was just starting up when I got here ahead of the lunch crowd, and there was plenty of room for all the families with kids stopping in for lunch. Apparently, this is the only area on Garth in Baytown with power, so I feel blessed twofold that I was able to grab a hot meal. Okay, the only negative to this review is I would have left a tip because I felt grateful. However, the tall guy who served me first, also was the guy who was ringing up my order. And he just stopped in the final stage of his role as cashier. He didnt say anything, and went to the back of the kitchen to work back there. So I had to wait for the next guy to come along, to complete my transaction and pay Buds. So just because there was a moment of completion by poor service and a total lack of communication with me, the service was rated poorly today. Not because they were short handed after a hurricane. They were starstruck about the sudden flow of hungry people showing up today on a Monday. And also, the poor service was about the uncleaniless factor by serving food and then immediately touching a P.O.S. register. These guys arent following the states food handler policies here. Four stars overall though. Everyone made out some today with blessings paying it forward. Kid-friendliness: Noisy, hangry mouths needed food to silence them for the time being.

Our French fries were raw potatoes and the BBQ tasted like it had been refrigerated and reheated. Our bottled sodas were expired, so we went back and grabbed two more (different brands) and those were also expired. I didnt expect much but was still disappointed, lol.

STOP and Read This Honest review. This was the WORST BBQ I have ever had in my life. Riblets were disgusting, Three meat plate was awful, and they even managed to ruin the Boudin and a Baked Potato with meat. (I never go out of my to post reviews until now). Nice quality of ribs. Ribs could have had more seasoning. Mac and cheese needed a little work too! However, the green beans looked and tasted like they just opened the can and added onions. The next day I got sick for two days!

I ordered 70 leg quarters and some of the pieces still had red on the meat and bone. I was told by the representative there it was smoked and the red means it was cooked I totally disagree, if it was fully cooked all the way I wouldn t have had seen red on the bone and meat. I will say the dirty rice was very tasty and delicious.

Ordered the sausage plate with Mac and cheese and mashed potatos, the portions where right but there was no flavor at all they need to season better their dishes. Went to pick up a to go order they said it would be ready in 10 minutes I showed up in a timely manner and walked inside the establishment; my food was ready sitting on the counter; I told the gentleman Im here for pick up, they proceeded to ignore the fact that I was there, made new plates for 3 customers that I just watched order their food, those 3 customers plus 2 drive thru customers got their food and left, 25 minutes after I arrived I was still just looked at, when I walked out and got in my car they flagged me down only because they knew they were going to lose a sale. They served everyone Hispanic new sale or not before giving me my food. When I told them I watched my food just sit there and showed them the food was cold now, all he said was sorry and then tried to offer me a drink which I refused. I will be using Kings BBQ across the way for my future BBQ needs. Not a place to spend your non hispanic dollars. They are so nice in the drive thru, Ive used them for years, the one time I walked inside and they didnt have a vehicle to recognize me by; this was the treatment I received. I wish I knew sooner not to spend my money here.

Ordered the wing special because I really wanted wings and it seemed like a great deal. The fries were fresh and tasted amazing! Maybe it was because I went close to closing so they dropped a fresh batch. However, the buffalo wings were terribly soggy as if they d been microwaved. They had great customer service though. I would probably come back if I knew the wings were usually crispy and get them at the time that they are.

I came to Buds Barbecue one time before and my hamburger combo was horrible.Meat was cold or should I say still froze.But I decided to give it another chance.This experience was even WORST .Barbecue Chicken had no smoke taste nor smell .I had to sit and wait over 30 minutes until my chicken defrosted in a microwave.I saw the worker kept warming my chicken in the microwave over and over ....NEVER ,NEVER will I step foot in this establishment again.But I can say the employees and workers were very nice.But the food SUCKS on All levels.No Buds Barbecue for me EVER!

I loved this place until I decided to make an order over the phone for pickup. I picked up my order and arrive at home to realize they forgot the BBQ sauce. I asked for the sauce on the side so that my sandwiches wouldn t get soggy on the way home. Who forgets to pack the key ingredient? Come on!!? I called and they offered to give me double sauce if I drove back there to get the sauce. I like their brisket and sauce so I decided to give them another try and guess what? They forgot the sauce again. Not only did they forget the sauce but also the pickles and onions. Plain sandwiches so not worth going back ever again. What a disappointment this place has become.

Lets just say its going to be the last time I go there for any bbq place in Baytown. The ribs were dry and had no flavor. Tasted like they just put it in the microwave. The sausage was below average, the rice was average. And the potato with the bacon bits, etc, was sloppy. The only reason why I almost finished it was because I was real hungry.

I absolutely love their chopped beef BUT..... Theyre employees are always a bunch of rude teenagers. I stopped by this evening at 8:45pm, theyre supposed to close at 9:30pm today. After standing at the register for about 5mins with 2 of theyre rude teen employee just staring at me, then finally one looked at me and said were closed, so I looked back at the sign that says the opening hours and pointed to where it says OPEN TILL 9:30pm and just got ignored. That is completely unacceptable, if the sign says 9:30pm then I should be able to get my food at 8:45pm with no problems. After reviewing previous comment about theyre rude employees I will definitely be going tomorrow if not Monday to speak to the manager and or owner its ridiculous Ive been going to buds for years but the last couple it seems like they pick employees from the bottom of the barrel. $14 for styrophome plates and plastic utensils... Staff is rude. 3 customers and all the tables are dirty. Too busy to clean them off? Fries are bad, brown on the outside, raw in the middle. Soda was filled half full and the fountain is behind the counter. I wouldnt normally complain or think much about it for a $6-7 plate. But if youre going to charge premium prices, dont be a second rate restaraunt. I will not go back. ...and you have to clean ur table when youre leave, just like McDonalds...for $14/plate.

I have been a customer of Buds numerous times and have always been very pleased with the food until yesterday March 22, 2013. I placed a to go order and when I got home i was appalled at what the cook had sent out the door to me ! My fries had to have been left from lunch time. They were a very greasy, rubbery, dark brown. My BBQ sandwiches were a pile of mush ! I only live 10 minutes from the establishment so it wasnt from riding the food around in my car ! This happened on the dinner shift ! It will be a while before i go back, hopefully the cook will have a better day or else Buds will lose business at this rate ! very displeased with this cook !

I love the foods at this place. I got a delicious ribs and tender briskets. Oh, my friends got baked potatoes and it is the freshest ever. Mark this place as my favorite place to eat, especially bbq.
