What a great find! Tonight was our first visit and certainly will not be our last. I had an amazing Ribeye that was cooked perfectly, and my wife had an incredible Scallop dinner. Setting is great, service was perfect, and even the dessert was great. I think we may have found our new favorite restaurant.

My wife and I found this restaurant to be excellent in every way. Great service, Creative drinks as well as an extensive whiskey list. Fun and tasty appetizers. Fresh, tasty, well-seasoned, well-presented food. So, my review will merely mention the food and drink highlights, knowing that service was top notch all the way. We tried two of their signature drinks Resting Peach Face and Show Me Yours. Loved them both for being creative yet not forced weird. All of the food was also excellent. Barrel Meatballs were well prepared, nicely seasoned and not swimming in sauce like so many places. The crab cake was real crab and nice breading but no oil taste or fishiness at all. Served on a sauce with an additional sauce on the side. One of the best crab cakes we have ever had. Goat Cheese Salad was crisp, nicely dressed and generous on the goat cheese. Texas Goat Cheese Grits were firm and not runny grits with the cheese mixed nicely throughout so every taste was full of flavor. For desert we split the vanilla bean crème brulee, which was caramelized on top to perfection and bursting with vanilla flavor. This restaurant has all the makings of becoming a special occasion place, as well as a night out when we just want great food. Tip: take advantage of the happy hour drink specials.

Ong the most expensive food a man in his early 20s can go to to buy a quick dinner. Cost me a literal arm as I couldnt afford the meal and they cut it off right at the table as the form of payment. Im desperately looking for a left arm now. Please anyone help a poor soul. I can be found in the alley behind the restaurant from 9-11 p.m. everyday. Atmosphere was to die for....literally

We have never had a bad experience here! ALL of the servers, hosts and bar staff are amazing, the food is incredible, cocktails are excellent and the atmosphere is top notch! Tonight, one of my very best friends lost her grandmothers ring, and Audrey was willing to stop in the middle of the busiest night of the week and look, ask staff, etc SO thoroughly and call us back, answer our multiple calls to report findings. I cant stress enough that this staff goes above and beyond for their patrons. Dont hesitate, this experience is worth every cent.

First time here. It popped up on my facebook feed yesterday and today I was in the area so here I am. What a gem of a place. Nice sized bar, not big but not too small. Fantastic whiskey wall. I had the goat cheese salad with sliced steak and I ve found a new favorite salad. I haven t had (and I have been searching) warm pecan crusted goat cheese in a very long time. I kinda want to order another one . The other reason I ll keep coming back is that the bartender, Mike, made me the best espresso martini I ve ever had out without giving direction. I m not picky, I just know what I like and Mike read my mind! I never really ask what the specials are. I did read that it was happy hour but I didn t really ask what that entailed. Let s just say, the happy hour is one of the best I ve ever stumbled upon. Can t wait to come back and bring some friends!

Service was ok, the appetizer was cold. The Chicken Fried Prime NY Steak was way too salty. I had to throw it away, and the potatoes were ok. The tomahawk was perfect in taste and how it was cooked but was barely warm. For the price, it should have been better. This place has potential, and I hope it can grow. Update: Im glad to see this place grow and is now our favorite spot for drinks and a good dinner.

Soooo I was really enjoying myself and my company at the end of the bar, despite servers, continually bumping my chair, which yes I could have not sat at the end of the bar, but don t put chairs where they can be bumped or are in the middle of traffic However, the staff was friendly, but the main thing that bothered me is the picture I m about to post I m not 100% sure if they were marrying bottles or What was going on but they filled 6 bottles of Jimador tequila (I think) from a bucket and 3-4 bottles of another orange liquor but what I know is that this is usually illegal and made me rather Uncomfortable and made me question the establishment since they did it right in front of us at the bar I ve had people tell me I should report this please explain.

We came here for my birthday dinner as a party of 5. From the moment we walked in it was so celebratory. They decorated the table, a hand written note saying happy birthday, a champagne toast for the table along with a super fun birthday dessert. I felt so special! My family came in from Michigan to celebrate with us and couldn t say enough wonderful things about our meal. We all had filet and it was perfect! Our waiter was fun, kind, knowledgeable and very attentive. The manager came by several times to make sure all was great. We will certainly be back and continue to support our neighbors In Bartonville.

We went after dinner time and sat at the bar, so no reviews on food but we will definitely be back to try. They had a small menu, which I love, since you know they can do everything right. Jenna, the mixologist, was on fire. She is the best bartender Ive had in a long time. They make their own bitters, simple syrups and purees and the cocktails are a work of art. They even flambay the fruit twists to release all the oils. We had a tequila that we cant find anywhere. It was ladies night and I got a $40 glass of cab for half off. second time at The Barrel and everything was pretty good but not great. we were going to get oysters but they wanted $4+ each which was a bit too much for us so we started with drinks (bulleit rye old fashioned and a whiskey stick), which were fantastic, and a crab cake that was good but not really noteworthy. on to the main. we ordered their 40oz tomahawk ($180) for two but they were out so settled for the porterhouse ($130). still not a bad cut of meat. the strip portion was cooked quite well however most of the filet was overcooked, but this can happen with larger steaks if youre not careful. wine selection is eclectic and from what ive had is pretty good and priced well. i was not disappointed in the Chateau La Nerthe Rouge at $141 a bottle. fyi, there are more reasonably priced options that are still fantastic wines but this was a birthday dinner so we were spurging. ended the meal with a white chocolate bread pudding that was fantastic. we also took home some carrot cake which was equally good for breakfast the next morning. all in the meal was ~$330 plus tip for the two of us. not something we will do daily or even weekly but its nice to have a local place thats not super pretentious but still has good food. we will be back but probably wont do another big steak. also, thursday is ladies night with a selection of half priced drinks and half priced wines by the glass for the ladies. while we were there both the bar and the dining room were consistently full and most were women. Parking: theres plenty of parking in the office park but you may end up parking a bit of a walk from the front door.

First entree arrived at the table 30 minutes before the others. No steak knives for steaks. Desserts offered before entrees arrived. Water wasn t refilled. No forks for desserts. Awesome date night with friends at The Barrel. The whole experience was top notch and what I look for in a good restaurant. We started at the bar and enjoyed several well executed drinks by Blake who is also a manager. He truly has great skills. Highlights include stamped ice blocks in the old fashioned and details like burnt rosemary or the ice chips in my Martini. Appetizers were awesome. Bacon wrapped quail, salmon cream cheese wontons, and meatballs were all great. My wife had the pork chop I wanted which came with goat cheese grits. I had a filet which was well executed with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Not pictured were two great deserts. The finishing touch was the espresso Martini. Very good and light. You would think you were drinking a nitro cold brew, very dangerous. I will be back for lunch, drinks at the bar, and definitely dinner again! Second visit was equally as amazing. We were allowed into the Cork Club speakeasy through the kitchen. Swanky atmosphere. Same great drinks and food.

Dont normally leave negative reviews but wanted to share our experience in the event it helps anyone else. Our apps arrived before our drinks (15 mins after we sat) - as did the table next to ours. Apps/entrees did not seem fresh or worth the price - maybe because Im spoiled by my wifes cooking. They ran out of 1 of 2 cabernets (by the glass) that we ordered. We were very excited to try this place, and they could have just had an off night, but we wont be giving them a second chance. And by the responses to their negative reviews here, I dont think care...

Depending on the time of day and day of week, seating may be an issue. Staff is friendly and one of the barmen stood out for innovation in cocktails.he also made us a very good, off-menu Irish coffee. Management or front of house management doesnt circulate much, the times we were there they seemed to sit with specific tables that they may be acquainted with. On our first visit, food was reasonable and we were all delighted by our cocktails. The black forest gateau was a rare desert find. On our second visit, I made a common mistake of ordering the charcuterie board. That was sadly not worth the money. The artisanal cheese was most definitely nothing better than over-the-counter cheddar and one other, forgettable but similarly uninspiring, white cheese. My complaint to the server was acknowledged, but nothing came of it. Im not sure my disappointment was communicated to anyone else in the serving area. And as I mentioned, Boone came by to check on food quality or whether we were satisfied. Not been back since, not sure when well give them another try.

While most of the food is of high quality and well prepared, our experience was below average. At a restaurant where the average cost per meal can easily reach $100+ per person before drinks, there should be an exemplary culture of well-trained staff that caters to the customer and food that hits it out of the park with each course. Sadly, this was not the case. We chose The Barrel for our anniversary dinner and even made a note of this celebration in our reservation. First miss: the waitress didn t know this, and with a restaurant of this caliber, people should always be asked if they are celebrating any special occasion. It s that extra touch of class in the service and it was missed. From there the service, sadly, didn t get better. My wife was never offered a refill of her club soda, which was her water. Her entree came out incorrect and we had to flag our waitress down to get it fixed. She didn t follow up with us after it was delivered to see if it all came out as ordered. When she did approach our table, she interrupted our conversation mid-sentence every time. This is just poor training. When our entrees were finished, she never offered us dessert. We had to ask if there was a dessert menu. This may sound picky but we aren t eating at a diner or paying diner prices. For the food: our crab crakes appetizer was incredibly bland. We ordered espressos with our dessert and they got delivered 5 minutes before our dessert came out and were cold by the time dessert got to our table. The creme brûlée was a beautiful flavor but was soupy. It literally poured off the spoon. The chocolate cake was so cold it tasted like it came straight from the freezer. Not the way you want to eat a piece of cake. On the bright side: our wedge salads were super tasty and both our entrees (filet mignon) were delicious! These were the highlights of our night. Overall, our anniversary dinner was met with disappointment not only for the fact that we were celebrating a special occasion but that this was our first experience eating here. After entering with such high hopes, we left knowing it would also be our last

Being local we wanted to love it, and at the very least like it but unfortunately, our first visit missed the mark. To set the scene: it was a Sunday evening, and no reservation was needed as the restaurant was about 40% full (inside only). The drinks we chose were great although took 20 minutes for them to arrive after placing our order. The elk starter was delicious but not warm at all. Almost cold but maybe this is the way its intended. Things took a turn when dinner took around 45 minutes to arrive. The manager came by to apologize for misreading the tickets and as a customer, I do not understand what that means and was left more confused after the interaction because there was no ETA on how much longer it would take. The burger was standard, nothing special. The salmon was cooked well but the description read beets but was only plated with 2 pieces of beets. For a $100+ dinner, it was a one-and-done for us based on service, and the standard nature of our meals. Some staff looked to lack a sense of urgency and purpose.

What would you like to do on your 42nd wedding anniversary, which also happens be Valentine s Day? Probably have a nice meal with your spouse in a nice, high quality restaurant... The Barrel offered a set menu and by our reservation time of 7:45, they had sold out of lobster tails, even after being seated and the server assuring us the menu was still intact. Were moving back into the area and looking for that go to restaurant for cocktails, quality wines and a great steakhouse menu. 1st impression was that even though we had reservations, you were either known by staff or you were pedestrian. For the holiday there was complementary Champaign offered, but we werent offered any until after wed been seated and wed ordered our cocktails, while known patrons were greeted, given a flute and whisked away to their booth seating... Things went downhill from there, we started to make our order from the fixed menu, we expressed our interest in the tomahawk steak and lobster tail option and settled in to enjoy our cocktails and waited for our appetizer. Just before the appetizer arrived, the server informed us that the lobster option was no longer available. We sent the appetizer back and asked to talk to the manager. Mrs Bohannan arrived only to apologize for the inconvenience? Its a special occasion for all, but doubly for us on our anniversary... We had a civil conversation and she offered to have Brandon come and greet us before leaving and searching for another place for dinner. We were left waiting at our seat for over 10 mins, Mrs Bohannan had moved on to other duties, but there was no status update on Brandons arrival, we lost our patience and then tipped our server and left. If youre personal friends with this crowd, maybe theres some value with hanging with management, but even having a family tie to friends of management, we were clearly pedestrians. Were off to try Marty Bs high-end steakhouse or its back to Trulux or Perrys... Dietary restrictions: Indicated shellfish allergy on reservation, check in acknowledged the notation, but server had no clue... big disconnect

We had reservations for Valentines. Preset menu which was fine. Salad portion was very small. Entree arrived and lobster , potatoes and broccoli were cold. Had to eat the tomahawk steak on bread plates to keep from getting cold while other was being reheated. We got same plates back and lobster was tough ( like it had been reheated ) food was good Was it worth 300. Probably not

The first time I went here everything was 5 stars, this time the food was profoundly disappointing and the service was painfully slow though the actual server was nice. The restaurant was not very busy at all, either. Based on my first experience I came back, but based on the second experience if I dine here again it will be reluctantly so. Proceed with caution....

Never again. We went to this restaurant at the end of November. Great service. Great food and drinks. Manager came by twice to see how we liked everything. My husband and I went back this Friday (1/28) We were going for a special occasion. Completely different experience. We had reservations for the DINING ROOM. We were seated at the first table by the door, by the bar, by the hostess stand. There was a large group of people standing around the bar waiting for tables, so therefore surrounding our table. When we asked for a table toward the back, mind you we had reservations, the hostess said, Oh. Those are reserved. Five minutes later she then seated people who were waiting at the bar for their table. We couldnt hear each other even talk and pretty much shared our meal with everyone at the bar and coming into the restaurant. THEN the waitress gets to our table, its 7 p.m., not late in the evening, and tells us they are out of their filet and NY strip and pretty much only have their $60 steak left. She said they changed suppliers and couldnt get steaks. We came for the filet so that was another disappointment. Ordered the flat iron over fries which was disappointing. I ordered the mushroom pasta which we had on our first visit and was wonderful. Packed with mushrooms. This time it was tasteless and had maybe 2 mushrooms at best. I ordered a mixed drink. The glass was completely filled with ice, so I would say it was about a quarter of a drink and it was essentially fruit juice. Couldnt even tell there was any alcohol in it. We did not see a manager AT ALL walking the place going to tables asking how things were. All in all, we had about a $40 meals and experience for $115. Wont be going back. They either have a new chef, new manager, or forgot to place a crucial food supply order. No clue, but it was extremely disappointing.

Had a great dinner tonight with my hubs first time to try out the barrel. Parker was our server. He did an outstanding job. We had the ribeye and had it split, which came with sautéed green beans and mashed potatoes. We added the scallops and had the charcuterie 3/5. It was the perfect amount, and what I loved even more was that Parker actually took it upon himself to have the kitchen split the ribeye and our presentations for both plates were perfect. Sorry I didn t take a picture of this one will definitely be back and truly enjoyed our experience.

Second time in and even better than the first. Elk starter, wife had the pork chop, it was excellent, I had the mushroom pasta dish, with steak added, and it as well was delicious. Added a side of brussel sprouts and did not regret that decision one bit! Drinks were prompt and wife s prickly pear margarita was tasty even for a bourbon drinker. And the bourbon selection speaks for itself. Can t wait to go back.

Everything was delicious! Drinks and food. The steak was flavorful and cooked perfectly. Delicious green beans. The Cajun chicken pasta was super tasty with just the right amount of spice. The cocktails were delicious! The wine glasses made me feel like Olivia Pope which was fun. The food is a little slower. The appetizer meat balls were a little too dry for me. Otherwise, definitely go back for Happy hour or dinner!

The food and service were fantastic! There was a nice selection of wines and liquors. The prices were a bit much for the atmosphere...it would be better with a different type of music and some sound deadening as it was so noisy it was difficult to hear the waitress and dinner partner. We both had some difficulty reading the menus due to the color of the lighting and the coloring and font size of the menu.

My husband and I went to The Barrel for our 15th wedding anniversary. We tried several things on the menu and all were outstanding! We got the crab cakes, two burgers (my husband got one and loved it SO much that he ordered a second!), a prime rib dip sandwich, a grilled cheese, the toffee pudding (cake), a margarita, two s mores martinis, and a whiskey. Y all, that s A LOT of food and drink, and our tab was $165. I d call that reasonable pricing for an upscale restaurant. The service was top-notch. The atmosphere is excellent. Definitely a great place to go on a date!!

Very expensive and a horrible dining experience. Everyone in our group had issues with their food. Temperature of food was not good, food didn t come out at the same time and some not at all. Ordered a martini and they charge 10$ for vodka, 1$ for olives, 3$ for olive juice! I ordered a wedge salad and added steak to it for $16 extra, I received about three bites of steak. Plus the restaurant was freezing cold. Never, ever again.

This was the 3rd time to go to the Barrel. We always like to support the local businesses but, unfortunately today they fell short of the mark. We went to have some cocktails and was told that it was happy hour and everything except wine over $100 was half off. When we received the bill, everything was full price! When we asked the server she went to the manager and was told the things we ordered were not on happy hour. We do not blame the server as apparently she was not trained properly. Whatever happened to the customer is always right? The manager only appeared because we asked for him. It is always more difficult to get a new customer than to keep an existing customer.

My wife and I started with the charcuterie board. 3 adults can comfortably enjoy this appetizer. For the entree, I had the Chilean sea bass with a side of mashed potatoes and glazed carrots, while my wife had the mushroom pappardelle. The sea bass was perfectly cooked with one side lightly fried. The potatoes were supremely buttered. The carrots retained their natural sweetness, but were in more of a broth than a glaze. The pasta and mushrooms were both perfectly cooked; overall it was rather rich tasting. The cheesecake was more tart than sweet. No drinks ordered other than water. $120 before tip.

We loved brunch last weekend. It was our first time there and it was a great experience. The restaurant is beautiful, the staff did a great job. My only complaint was the hostess couldnt find our reservation, it was our mistake, instead of just seating us and saying we have tables available, we had to ask twice if they would be able to seat us. I had the Texas scramble and my husband had the crab roll. Both were very good. I had a mimosa and he had the resting peach face, both great. We like it so much we are taking family from out of town this weekend. Definitely added to my favorites list.

We decided to pop in on a Thursday nigh after we picked our daughter up from school. PSA, this is NOT a kid-friendly place! It is definitely more high end, which we have needed in this area for a long time. I will say, I would like a less expensive option for wine (cheapest glass of red was around $11 when you can get the same bottle at the gas station for the same price). We all split the ribeye, which was very good. I wasn t a huge fan of the ancho chili butter, but my husband loved it. The service was impeccable, the atmosphere was great, and the price was fairly reasonable for what you get. Looking forward to going back and trying some of the other delicious-looking items on the menu.

Excellent ambiance. Finally a place you can actually dress up and have a nice night out in this area! The patio is super cute. I d say half the food we tried was good and the other half left a lot to be desired. I had planned a fancy night out for 5 of us for a reunion. These ladies flew in from all over the U.S. and I thought this place looked really nice. I made reservations on Resy 11 days in advance and there was not a single other time slot booked when I made it. When we got there they had given us the table at the front of the restaurant by the door. I was really disappointed and explained the situation to the hostess. She didn t seem to care and said the other tables were booked. We are pretty easy going so it was fine, but considering we were the first ones to make a reservation for that night, it was a big bummer. The salmon wontons were amazing. The burrata lacked salt and flavor. The bone marrow queso was okay. The Caesar salad tasted of purely oil and lettuce so no one was a fan of that one, but the citrus salad was better. The sea bass was great and a friend that got the scallops said it was the best she s had. Waitress was nice too. I will probably bring my husband here for a date night and give it another shot in the future.

This struck fear in my husband and I so rather than try the beef or seafood entres we opted to split the burger and truffle fries. This seemed like a no brainer but the burger was mediocre at best. The $24 truffle fries tasted exactly the same as the fries that came with the burger. The waitress was very sweet and apologetic.... did not charge us for the muscles. The dip trio with foie gras mousse is cravable as we re the pork belly entree and the filets with ancho butter. Both the Caesar and wedge salads are perfect. On the minus side is that they are still working out service. One of 4 entrees arrived 10 minutes ahead of the other 3 and the birthday person s desert was so late everyone else had finished and we sent it back. Being that the restaurant has just recently opened, we were sort of expecting some hitches in service as waiters get accustomed to a new space. Quite the contrary, service was excellent.
