Best wine bar in Austin, and the best edited wine shop in in Austin! I always have a fantastic time here. The wines are so good that they are some of the best wines Ive ever had at any wine bar across the world - not just Austin - and its combined with sensational small bites and snacks which are clearly created from a wellspring of passion and genius. You are soothed by very cool surroundings with beautiful seating, wall adornments, and a vinyl collection which will soothe your ears. Did I mention how wonderful all the staff are? This unassuming little place is my new favorite place to spend an evening in Austin. Dont forget to get a bottle of something to go, as they have fair and competitve prices on wonderful wines.

A hidden gem in the wine world here in Austin! Love the ambiance, the food, but above all the wines. Excellent selection of highly thoughtful, curated wines from the best (&coolest!) producers around the world. Joe does a fantastic job always keeping it new. Dont worry if you know a ton about wine or nothing at all - youll drink some deliciousness. And prices are very competitive. Go support this small business!

Three of us spent a wonderful evening at APT 115, sharing a bottle of wine and a charcuterie board. The ambience is inviting, yet sophisticated. Every detail has been well thought out and wonderfully executed by the owner, none more obvious than the exceptional wine list. The service was excellent, and we were made to feel very welcome here. I am sad it took me so long to find this place, but we will most certainly return time and time again (next time for the prix fixe)!

EDIT To inform people that the lovely feedbacks and photos of food no longer reflect the present experience offered at APT 115. The Food here is no longer a tiny bit good as it was when chef Zhuo was there. I can no longer recommend this spot but will keep my previous experience as a testament to how fabulous the previous chefs food was and how incredibly unique and tasty the experience USED to be. Apt 115 WAS by all accounts a fabulous experience. Welcoming and friendly staff. An eclectic (in the very best way Austin has to offer) interior. But the food and wine pairing are where I found myself absolutely spell bound. I had the tasting here and I am awestruck and the cohesiveness, diversity and charm of the menu. It s incredible. well worth going the day without eating just to savor every bite! I m so glad I ve found this absolute gem. There s so many exciting and wonderful things awaiting your palette here.

I have been here numerous times and each time I am hesitant to come back because I think to myself how can this possibly beat the wonderful experience I has last time? . But without a doubt they always manage to one up themselves. Inventive menu, eclectic wine selection and exceptional service + neighbor hood vibe. Top 3 restaurant in Austin. Makes you feel like you are at home.

Apt 115 used to be one of the hidden secrets of Austin - fine dining food at casual restaurant prices. Id been multiple times during the previous chefs tenure and used to rave about it to friends and locals. Unfortunately, with the departure of Chef Charles Zhou, this can no longer be said to be the case. The meal was mightily disappointing - a singular gulf (!?) oyster, a tasty tuna sashimi, the worst prawn cocktail Ive ever had, an average duck leg (that frankly wasnt deboned correctly), a cheese board that is worse than the ones you can pick up off the shelf of Specs and a half grapefruit with sugar on top and a weird mint goats cheese. Ive frankly never started laughing halfway during a meal due to the sheer lunacy of the food I was being served for the price. Oh, and what a long service it was - for 6 courses of which 5 werent even cooked it took 3 hours! I highly recommend that anyone who enjoys good food to stay away from Apt 115. What used to be a shining star in the Austin dining scene is now a black hole.

Had a really good experience here with my wife around 4-5 months ago. The wine was out of this world. I know next to nothing about different wine varieties so I let our waiter make the decisions and they did a great job. I do know what good wine tastes like and the wine here was out of this world and innovative. Literally the best wine Ive had in Austin at any restaurant, although Im not an expert. The dishes were small but all tasted good and were innovative. Service was very good, we were a bit early and they accommodated us quickly. Ive recommended this place to a friend from Dallas and his wife who loves wine and good food and I bet they visit in the future. Well hopefully be back again soon.

BEWARE!!! The food was absolutely amazing! The customer service was also great. First, we found hair in a few of our courses. The chef looked stressed enough to where we didn t want to have it remade and throw everything off. We were willing to ignore this until we got the bill with an automatic tip I was a little thrown off and confused about paying before we even stepped foot into the restaurant. I ve never done that before! I would also like to warn people that they do automatically force you to tip 20%. We are not from Austin so we were not aware of this! We had to pre-pay $260 to hold our reservation and then at the end of our meal we got another bill for a whopping $145 extra. We budget to the dollar and I about passed out when I saw that. Overall great place, but you can 100% pay significantly less at a Michelin starred restaurant in Europe. Literally going to a 2 starred restaurant in Rome and it s 200 per person, which is cheaper than what we paid here

Updating with another review. This place always is getting better--hard to do when youre at the top already. We had a tuna crudo w roe that was off the chart--even better than the murder point oysters--and the duck confit was incredible. Closing w a Solera Champagne (harvest 2012) to close w dessert put a smile on my wifes face. 5 stars arent enough. ____________________________________ My reviews seem to disappear over time but this establishment is always fabulous and another great review is overdue! I just tasted a Fennel Confit that was both savory and addictive. A cheese plate is coming, and the Jamon (Spain) selections look decadent. We also ordered the rabbit--the menu changes all the time, and Ive never had the same thing twice, but weve come here for years for the amazingy curated wine selection. I honestly could not speak more highly of any place for wine and small plates in an intimate setting. The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and the experience would not be complete without them. New Years Eve here is incredible, by the way, even if Im off-topic--there is always a bomb wine and bubbles tasting. 5 STARS!

DON T TRUST THE ONLINE RESERVATION PLATFORM. I paid the reservation in their online platform, Tock, and they accidentally forgot to include a credit to my account for dinner and overcharged me $130. Unfortunately I didn t notice until I had already signed and paid. When I confronted them about the discrepancy at the end of dinner, they had me wait with my guests at the restaurant for about 30 minutes while they tried to get their machine working to get me a refund. Manager apologized profusely and said the system was not working and they were unable to refund me but promised it would be taken care of. Unfortunately that was never done and now I am having to dispute the charge through my credit card company and APT 119 is denying my claims, and even sent in evidence of my signed receipt as proof. This was months ago and I usually get irritated by reviews like this one that don t speak to the food/atmosphere, but I just want everyone to know you have to watch your reciept like a hawk if you made the online reservation. Make sure your credit gets applied and don t trust them if they say they will get the refund back to you. The food was good and the waiters were very nice.

The food was so creative and refreshing. The presentation was beautiful and taste was gentle and flavorful. The chef utilized a lot of exotic (traditional Chinese) natural ingredients, for example the tofu was soaked in osmanthus juice , the goat meat was soft stewed with numbing pepper , and the desert has basil ice cream with a very light and thin touch of Celtuce The soup dumpling was also full of juice. lastly as a cute finish, there was a surprise at the last course

One of the most unique experiences Ive had in Austin. The food was unlike anything Ive had - you can tell the Chef was having a blast while cooking. Such a fun and delicious expression of his fabulous takes on classics. Chef Zhou is one of the most exciting chefs in Austin! Now moving on to service- we were lucky enough to be served by Jen and Debra. Jen made the experience even more special by being just as excited about the food as we were. She created such a fun journey for us as we moved through the 10 course chefs tasting. She connected with us, gave us what we needed when we needed (and I dont just mean food and drink, I mean she knew when we needed space and when we wanted to chat it up with - something most servers dont pick up on beautifully as Jen did). Debra was great too, though as someone who is hard of hearing, I feel like I missed out on some the wine stories (we got the bespoke wine tasting and I would have loved a more.. bespoke experience). Overall, 10/10 recommend, Ill be dreaming about the food (especially the tomato meringue crab sandwich, antelope tartar, wagyu short rib, and that dang sweet potato cereal... omg Im hungry again).

Oh so yes! You have to try this spot! 10 course tasting menu was so incredibly amazing, I already cant wait to return. The dishes were organized in pairs so that two would go together but still be served separately. The chef puts his Asian flare into the dishes, though the diversity of flavors and ingredients are from all over the world. Wine for days - so many regions and so many grapes it takes a while to pick but Joe is right there to help you decide which is for you. I love the variety of meats, we had goat, crawfish, fish, beef, etc. Everything was melt in your mouth good. The portions are small enough to where after 10 you dont need to be rolled out. We booked via Tock, and in some cases you can book with Points (Chase Sapphire Reserve) which was a super big bonus for me. We will be back!!

Small, non-assuming space with a cozy atmosphere inside. They have a rolling ladder for the wine shelves on one of the walls and cute candles on the tables. The food was tasty and artistic. We did the chef s 10-12 course tasting menu and it did not disappoint. The first course was my favorite in terms of looks. The butterfly squash crisps, carrot jerk and turnip cake with caviar sat perfectly on a beautifully decorated log. Every dish was very delicious but a few stood out and were my favorites - the Duck soup dumplings, the goat and biscuits, and the wagyu short rib. The palette cleanser before dessert reminded me of a golden egg but tasted like a fruit gusher. There were a couple of dishes that were a bit saltier than I would have liked - the goat and mushroom soup. Tip: if you get the sweet potato cereal and love super sweet, you can pour the whole thing. But if you are like me and only like a little sweetness, control your pour.

This is absolutely the best experience weve had in YEARS. We got lucky and were able to get the 13 course bespoke pairing and were absolutely STUNNED. Im not going to go into each dish because youll likely not experience the same thing as they change it all the time. Whats important to know is the owner knows his stuff, the wine menu is deep and knowledgeable, and the chef is absolutely top notch. The service was attentive, entertaining, and even coy and funny at times. It was a slower night but it was easy to tell that everything was planned carefully, including the vynil selection which had us vibing for nearly 4 hours. What a small, unassuming place with knowledgeable and skillful folks bringing you the best Austin has to offer. The old world selection of wines will make anyone who feels theyve experienced it all born again. You wont get lost because their expertise and guidance through the evening is unmatched. Spare the few extra bucks and go the entire 9 yards here. Its worth every penny. I cant even think of an experience to compare it to. So glad we picked this place and cant wait to come back. Dont come in with any type of experience in mind, let the owner, chef, and staff make all the decisions and you wont be left disappointed. I never gush but I cant go far enough to say how amazing the meal, wine pairings, staff, and experience was.

I would definitely put this in the upper crust of Austin dining. The vibe and decor brought a cozy feel like you re in your own apartment. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly and answered all of our questions. My only critiques would be they needed one more person on the floor as it was slow to get started. That and I really wish I had a piece of that cornbread to wipe the crab curry dish instead of a spoon. The crab curry dish and the cornbread were our favorite courses. All in all, if you want to impress someone, learn something new (did you know Mexico made some amazing wines?!), or just have a wonderful night to remember, I highly suggest this place.

Did the chef tasting + wine pairing ($155)--the owner explained during dinner that he recently raised the price b/c the place was popular... Anyway, space is intimate and fun but had a bad start being seated at the bar without any notice when I booked the reservation. Awkward sitting next to my wife and crowded with so many people in front of us (behind the bar) at any given time. The wines, six of them, were all excellent (market prices between $15-$40). The 9-course meal was hit-or-miss (a few dishes we struggled to eat, a few were outstanding), portions were smaller, and there wasnt much cohesion. To be clear, the dishes were unique and playful, some just didnt prioritize flavor (Uchi on cornbread...). Also found it odd that everything was already prepped--the chef was mostly heating and plating but understandable given the space. Ive been to a few similar small-scale fine dining spots; this one was OK but the worst value. Oh, and service was fine.

We arrived at 7pm on a Sunday and was told that they had sold out of their tasting menu. For context, we tried to get there earlier, but they said they couldnt seat us any sooner. In addition, a few other items on their menu were also sold out, so we were pretty much left with a small handful of dishes to choose from. While the food overall was very tasty - especially the Cauliflower fondue, the portions were far too small. To pay $25 for a tiny pot of pork belly stew and a tiny cornbread just seemed a bit outrageous. I truly hope they figure out how to improve their operations because the food we got to try was very promising.

We had dinner at APT115. They offer a daily wine menu as well as a full list of wines. Loved the food there: Beet is beautiful presented and ingredients work together well. The pork belly stew came in a cute casserole dish, well seasoned and the honey butter is delicious. Wagyu short rib melt in the mouth and the sauce and mushrooms go very well with the short rib. Staff are warm and friendly. I d go back for their tasting menu and wine pairing next.

I can t believe I m only just hearing about APT 115. This is easily my favorite wine bar in town. I brought my husband and friend here for the first time for all of us. We decided to do the half pour tasters and got some food to share (tuna crostini, oysters, and accoutrements). The food was so delicious and literally all the wines we tried were just so great. We had to decide begrudgingly what our favorite and least favorite were and it really was hard. The staff was great. We already booked a reservation to go back tomorrow. Yep, we are regulars now.

You can t go wrong at Apartment 115, Joe and his team have high standards for food and drink, we ve tried many of their recommendations and never had a wine we didn t like, even with picky palates. We also just tried food from their new cafe menu (get the bean toast!) and it s thoughtful, beautiful, and delicious. Great for a special date or quick bite, the place is retro-fancy with great ambience. (We noticed everyone being exceptionally careful and respectful of Covid considerations and there are 3 patio tables outside spaced out).

Wowza. Adored this little gem. We are a bit snobby about our wine and our charcuterie - Apt 115 did not disappoint, it raised the bar! The staff is just lovely; gracious, welcoming, unpretentious. And you can tell there is a lot of thought in the decor, the wines, the artisanal foods they serve, even the glass wear. But everything is inviting - not off putting. We will be back.

Apt 115 is my favorite bar in Austin, period. Joe and Colin and the rest of the gang are insanely knowledgeable about their craft, without being intimidating or wine-snobbish. Joe particularly loves to showcase natural wines and/or local wines, so theres really something for everyone. Whether you prefer a more traditional cote du rhone (try the Domaine lEspigouette) or want something thats been through a double fermentation (try pretty much anything from Fausse Piste) or want something thats from Texas (try anything from CL Butaud), Joe can always point you in the right direction. If you have questions, ranging from finding your perfect go-to bottle, to asking for a history lesson on the glass/bottle youre about to enjoy, the team always knows what to do/say. When I originally came to Apt 115 last year, I knew nothing about wine (for reference, I was a recent college grad who drank from wine in a box - YIKES!) to knowing which regions I like, which vineyards I prefer, and even specific bottles to seek out when I dont have the experts at Apt 115 in my back pocket. If youre alone or with a group, try a charcuterie board or at least one of their meat or cheese selections. The team (especially Sparrow and Colin!) makes KILLER boards (theyre also very Instagrammable, if youre into that!). They rotate their cheese and meat selections somewhat frequently, allowing them to guarantee a high standard of quality for us. I personally am more of a charcuterie kind of person, so I make sure to try at least one of their selections when Im there. They have everything from summer sausage to prosciutto to salami. Finally, their happy hour is such a steal. Its everyday (including weekends) from 5PM - 6PM. Its $5 off all wine by the glass on the printed menu and $1 off all draft beer. The selections on their printed menu are great quality and very fair prices. Even when its not happy hour, I still almost always order off the printed menu, especially if I want to try something new without getting overwhelmed by the huge wine list!

The vinyl records are cool, and the decor is super fun. There are a bunch of cool beer options for you beer drinkers out there, too! Who needs happy hour? Theres a $7 glass of wine, and $3 beer every day, all day! My new favorite wine bar in Austin!
