The food and service were above any expectations, amazing ambiance, good music but not so loud you cant have a conversation. I am vegan and my fiancée is an omnivore, and we were both able to get breakfast (including the obligatory breakfast taco) that both tasted great and met our dietary preferences. I meant to take a picture of my food to show how amazing it looked, but it ended up in my stomach way too quickly. An absolute 10/10 gem

The space is very cute and the staff is friendly but the food wasnt impressive for me. Its very old school chickpea and tofu vegetarian. The menu feels extremely dated... It was probably cutting edge in the early nineties but now not so much. The thought of going into a restaurant to eat tofu scramble 18 different ways is like going to a restaurant to eat spaghetti-os out of a can.

Ive been going to shows in Austin for a few decades. Used to come to this place when it was a little house and you had to step down to the extra seats. Always have loved the food. I do think they have taken ir up a notch on food since Ive been here before. The food is delicious, but I wasnt that happy with the service, which is sad bc they do automatically add 20% to your bill for tip, which is what I normally give or more, but with that being said you would hope to get good service, however when I tried to place my order due to we were in a time crunch and it took a while just to get our drinks, the water flat put told me .. wait...in a not kind voice, and walked away. This was off putting but Id still recommend it for my vegetarian people. The food is great and I think every vegetarian, vegan person who is checking out Austin should check pit this place as they have a variety of plates which are all great.

This is definitely a must go place for vegan and vegetarian food. The Tarzen big salad was so filling, refreshing and filled with portobellos and broccoli. The veggie royale is also a great choice for a burger sandwich fusion. Many vegan eateries have high amount of salt and soy, but this place uses fresh and in house ingredients. The ambience was quite busy and the tables were kinda sticky, but those didn t matter because the food was delicious!

I literally just made a review but I m going to make another one because for whatever reason someone or somehow it got deleted. I used to be a regular at Bouldin and the service was always amazing but my last two visits have been by far horrible. The service has been so poor that I felt disgusted when leaving the restaurant. There are two girls that work there with light brown hair and blue eyes. Pretty sure one of their names is Rego. My boyfriend and I were served by her before and she seemed nothing but annoyed and couldn t care less if we were in her section. Barley even interacted with us or asked how our meal was and just seemed disgusted by us, just being rude / passive aggressive for no reason at all. I m a server and I KNOW this isn t how you treat your guests and the same thing happened tonight. She just seemed like she couldn t care less if we were there and just seemed annoyed? I don t mind paying the gratuity if I m being treated decently but that wasn t the case and I feel as though they feel like they think they can get away with behaving like mean girls just because there s a gratuity. I have friends that dine here as well and they have had the same experience. I m not one to write reviews but I feel this needs to come across a managers attention so they know who they are hiring and how they are treating customers. Really disgusted and disappointing and if this gets deleted again I ll write another review or just call the store to speak to a manager. Disgusted by their behavior.

All were great. Staff all seemed attentive and friendly and knowledgeable. Great easy environment. Didn t feel rushed even though there were people waiting for tables. Great indoor and outdoor seating options. Two good size free parking lots. Would definitely eat here again. One note so you re prepared: There s a 20% surcharge added to your ticket as a one fair wage fee (instead of in addition to your tip). The staff as service was so good that I didn t mind the fee. I do love this place and the food is mostly very very good. One time I tried the cornbread and did not like it, however. But the reason this place rates a four rather than a five for me is the fact that the customers should not bear the burden of paying a fair wage to the servers. I have nothing but respect for the servers. That s not the issue. They deserve a fair wage. But the restaurant owners need to pay them more I m prohibited from coming to this place too often because it s just too expensive to add the fair wage on top of the already expensive food. Otherwise I do love this place. But if the owners are so concerned about their serversgetting a fair wage, they should simply pay them more That s what they do in Europe. They don t expect the customers to have the onus of a huge non-optional tip. Dietary restrictions: Clearly labeled GF options

If you dont mind paying the price then fine. I was just taking 4 pieces of pie to go, didnt feel good about having to pay almost $40....and the pie was not good. Tasted old...especially the cherry...and one female employee was kinda rude for no reason. Wont be back. But was quite annoyed. Especially because somehow my review was deleted. She looked bothered serving us. We got the vegan queso chips. They were stale and the queso and salsa were so poorly bland. My partner got the Asian noodles and I got the deconstructed enchiladas. The Asian noodles we tolerable, the enchilada plate was so horrendously gross. We both feel nauseous from the food. What made our experience worse was our server. She gave my partner a look that made just made the rest of our experience bad. She was a skinny white girl with light brown hair, she never gave us her name. As someone who s typically cautious about trying new vegan eateries, my discovery of Bouldin Creek was a pleasant surprise. Upon entry, I was warmly welcomed by two cheerful gentlemen who were incredibly attentive, recognizing it was my first time there. Settling at my table, I perused the chalkboard menu. It boasted an array of tempting dishes, and my server eagerly pointed out additional scrumptious options that had escaped my notice. I opted for the blueberry cornbread, an omelette, and a salad. The cornbread was a revelation, delectably delightful on so many levels. The omelette and salad did not disappoint either. They exceeded my expectations. The staff s helpfulness and friendliness were so remarkable that I found myself returning the very next day, craving the exact same meal. This charming bohemian nook felt like a jackpot win. It s definitely on my list for a repeat visit the next time I m in Austin.

Had the pasta with some rosé and the blueberry cornbread for dessert. Wonderful veg comfort food after a long day, great outdoor space, wonderful service. They let me put up flyers too. I love their fair employment policy, will definitely be back!

Hand DOWN my favorite restaurant in Austin! We are REGULARS. Leslie & her servers are incredible... and the food is consistent & DELICIOUS! I check for a tasty special, but if theres not one, I usually get either Renedict (I LOVE the tofu scramble, the Tarzen Salad (big chunks of broccoli coated in nutritious & cheesy-tasting nutritional yeast) OR the Austin Stir Fry (loads of veggies in noodles). Ive tried pretty much everything on the menu over the last decade+ & have never had anything I didnt like. Give it a TRY! Tell Leslie I said, Hi!

Not concerned about healthy eating but about what youre eating. Its no use offering vegetarian if it is prepared in an unhealthy manner. Bacon is a carcinogen. Offering a vegetarian alternative does not make it less of a carcinogen. The most healthy way to eat an egg is to poach it. They were unable to do that. I settled for the blueberry cornbread. It was quite delicious but also quite greasy and not a healthy option.

Love this place! Established in 2000, Bouldin Creek Cafe keeps the vibes of old Austin alive and well. The food is amazing (I recommend the lunch specials), they have gluten free bread options, and the staff is attentive and kind. Great place to come and hang out, meet people and feel like you re part of the community. Dietary restrictions: Gluten Free Friendly

FANTASTIC food!! The spicy chipotle pesto was amazing! Wish I could have brought a jar of it home. The curry was far better than we expected. Big portions of both. My friend said the coffee was a bit weak, but my cortado was excellent! Really friendly, relaxed service. Chalkboard walls in the bathroom stalls with buckets of chalk provided

UPDATED REVIEW: honestly annoyed at this point I sent a email to the email listed in the reply to this review. Leslie just replied with her name and the location of the business. I figured I make email mistakes sometimes too let me just send a follow up letting her know theres nothing in the email and its been a week with no response. If youre going to say email to make it right please actually mean it or dont say that to begin with. Whatever lol. Our server was ok... He left halfway through our meal and the other staff members attempted to pick up his slack. Literally disappeared after we ordered and we honestly were ready to have a nice night out got appetizers three entrees for 2 of us and 2 desserts but yeah he was gone right after we ordered. The waitress in the kimya Dawson shirt definitely tried to pick up the slack and apologized for his absence and another guy came by too but we were there for 2 hours just because we couldnt talk to anyone or like get help. He messed up my drink order twice and after the 2nd time I just gave up and accepted the drink. He still charged me for the extras that he didnt put into it. The food itself was really ok. Im vegan my husband is vegetarian and weve had a lot of experience with different restaurants in Austin and I do appreciate the variety on the menu and I attempted to order based on other reviews but maybe it just was a bad day because the burger was just kinda gross and the bread was stale that it was on. Loved the grilled cheese loved the chips that came with the pasta was ok. Honestly I hate leaving negative reviews I just wish our waiter was around more and didnt literally abandon our table immediately. Because of the tipping policy he still got $18. Im not against this policy at all Im a server and I wish more places had a 20% rule but you should hire FANTASTIC people if you are going to have that in place. I wouldve given this place another chance my husband saw it online and we drove 40 minutes from San Marcos to try it out but it was just so disappointing and I just dont think Ill find a reason to go back.

Reuben sandwich at Bouldin Creek Cafe was really yummy as was the salad I had! So nice to find a place with nourishing food in Austin. The blueberry cornbread was also indeed worth it and delicious. The staff are nice and helped my friend who got the jackfruit curry which was too spicy for her. It was busy but we were able to get seated pretty soon. Overall I would recommend it and I m really happy this place exists. I appreciate the gluten free options as well. Vegetarian options: An abundant menu of options Dietary restrictions: Yay for yummy gluten free bread!

Stopped here to catch up with friends while traveling. Eat outside at night for a Tumblr aesthetic. Great food, great service and not a bad price for what you get. The blueberry cornbread changed me. Not much in way of parking but its worth hunting for a spot or maybe ride sharing. Support this eclectic business with a variety of food for everyone!

They auto grat everyone that s why the staff only interacts with each other, just the bare minimum with customers they call the auto grat fare wage..it s fair to everyone but the customer basically they pay the staff less and add 20 percent to your bill when they bring the check and tell you, you will understand why the service is mediocre.. certainly I m old fashion and expect service where people engage with each other that s hard to find in Austin these days the place stays busy so people must like it but not me expect mediocre service cause they already have their 20 percent food was good

They have an extensive vegetarian/vegan menu with a ton of variety--breakfast food, mexican food, comfort food, desserts, drinks, and most of it is delicious. My only complaints were that the desserts were often too sweet and a little one note, and the surcharge they add makes it pretty expensive depending on what you get. Still worth it though.

Good experience overall, pretty long wait for a weekday but we ended up grabbing seats at the bar. The scrammich on sourdough was great, simple and to the point. Wasn t a big fan of the migas breakfast plate though. Drinks had too much ice so tasted watered down, we got the mocha latte and the purple cloud don t recommend iced at least.

Every part of my experience here was spectacular. Our server Lorenzo was lovely and personable even with how busy it was. They also gave me great dish recommendation (Migas) that I ended up adoring and completely devouring. The coffee was delicious, and there was no up charge for dairy free milk, which I appreciate. All the food was so well seasoned that I took turns eating each individual item and then had fun mixing and matching the items on my plate. The grilled blueberry cornbread just wow. Game changer and perfect end to the meal. The art they had up and their chalkboard bathroom stall walls made the whole experience all the better. 100% would tell everyone to go here. Dietary restrictions: They dont upcharge for dairy free milk, which is an appreciated rarity.

The food was amazing, will be coming back! One nitpick: I can t help but roll my eyes at this fair wage surcharge . In short, they charge you a 20% fee (they re pretty transparent about it) and then still give you the option to tip on top. The menu and website then give lengthy explanations about why this system is so amazing for society. I hate tipping culture (for all the reasons they mentioned on their site), so I appreciate any attempt to disrupt it. But for them to then a) use a surcharge instead of a price increase (no, actually, this does not increase transparency to the guest) and b) have an additional tipping option at checkout (making for an even more awkward interaction with the waiter), completely undercuts their claimed motivations, and is not really fixing anything.

been coming here FOREVER, and definitely will continue. food is excellent for vegetarian/vegan. always a big hit. service is VERY mixed. some servers are absolutely excellent. however, more and more recently, some servers are very standoffish and almost forget you re there. i do wish the servers would be held to a slightly higher standard, considering the fair wage surcharge. also, something that has gotten more common recently is servers doing everything but asking for a tip. BC is known for their fair wage surcharge (20% added to bill) but newer servers make it very clear that this is NOT a tip, and hint at adding extra. the problem is furthered by the fact that the machines you tip on offer percentages of 20-30%, and because the surcharge is part of the bill, servers are asking for a tip ON TOP OF the surcharge . if you read their website about the surcharge, it discusses how tipping is oppressive, creates inequalities, etc so it s ironic that they even offer tipping as an option. oh well!

I m going to start by saying my gf brought me here without me knowing this was a vegan restaurant, so I will try and remain unbiased since that s the kind of food served. First we started with the chips and queso, which I was very surprised by with the cheese , it was pretty good. Then I got the vegan bbq plate, the bbq portion was very eh (but to be fair what did I expect). The Tempeh Strips have kind of weird texture and are just smothered in bbq sauce, I did like the refried black beans and sweet potato slices. My gf was full off the chips and queso so I also ate her sandwich haha. She ordered La Doña which is a grilled cheese with vegan chorizo (pea protein), the sandwich by itself was kind of overwhelming with all the cheese and kind of dry at the same time. I will say I dipped it in the beans and I must say the restaurant should serve it like this because it was 100 times better this way. My favorite part of the meal was the desserts we got the brookie (brownie/cookie) with ice cream and a affogato (espresso and ice cream). The affogato was what you would expect. BUT the brookie with the ice cream was Our server was very attentive and playful with our dog. Oh yeah we brought our dog and sat on the patio so seems to be dog friendly. Not sure vegan food is my thing, but if it s your this place would probably be your type of place.
