The pasta noodles were like homemade noodles, and the grilled chicken was not salty and had a sweet, non-irritating taste. Fried chicken was popular with kids. If you dont like the sauce on the chicken, it would be better to add the sauce separately. And the menu that came with fried tortillas had a good combination of meat and vegetables.

Had never been there, and my girlfriend recommended it. Last night was a beautiful night so we opted to sit on the patio. We sat there for over ten minutes. Server went from one table to another and never came to our table. It was about 9:45 and they closed at 11, so it wasn t like they were wrapping up the night. We tried to flag down the server the last trip she made, but didn t even look our way. We chose to leave rather than continue waiting on a dream. On the way out, there were two servers doing side work, one walking around inside and two making dessert. I said something to one of the servers doing side work on the way out and she apologized, but no chance to make it right. Ambience seemed cool, but will never know what the food or drinks were like.

I hadn t been to this restaurant in several years and was very disappointed in the Navajo taco. No longer do they have the crunchy pieces of spinach on top. Spinach is just mixed in. The margaritas were probably the worst I ve ever had.

We ve been coming to Z Tejas since 1989 and are now making regular pilgrimages to the Avery Ranch location. April, our bartender, is WONDERMOUS, as is Cory, the manager, who never fails to stop and say hello, no matter how busy, and is genuinely interested in how the food is, etc. Love Z Tejas!!!!

Updated review: I had some confusion about my bill and the management team was really helpful in providing an explanation. The outdoor space is fun and relaxed. I came here for one of their special events with friends and had a good time. I like that there are misters and mosquito fans outside.

My family and I enjoyed a delightful dinner at Ztejas tonight. The ambiance was lovely and the food was absolutely fantastic. As long-time patrons of Ztejas since their earlier locations on 6th street and in the Arboretum area, we were thrilled to find that this new location has maintained the same wonderful flavors. The back patio even hosts trivia night and music bingo, and theres a spacious area for children to play. Well done, Ztejas!

The place has great atmosphere and excellent service. They have great outdoor seating with great fans and misters (and heaters), so its a great year-round patio seating. I was incredibly unimpressed and underwhelmed with the food. Everything was lacking flavor and flavor profile. The cornbread was cooked perfectly but extremely bland. The Navajo taco was a messy plate, and the flavors of the Pesto Chicken Tinga didnt quite marry well with the rice and black beans. However, the spinach was a nice touch, and the fried tortilla had a terrible oily aftertaste that didnt add to the dish. The frozen margarita with strawberry puree also didnt have any real flavor. The establishment was clean, and the staff was very friendly and attentive even though the food was not good.

I can not say enough good things about Z Tejas. It has always been one of my favorite restaurants. Since they open the Avery location they have only gotten better. I had been having trouble placing orders with both Uber Eats and Favor for about a week. I called the store to see if there was a problem they were aware of. I spoke to Cory. He was very professional and to my amazement is delivering my order personally. Thank you so much Cory. What amazing human kindness and fantastic customer service.

Good Mexican food. Great outdoor patio and service was very kind and attentive. Backlit menus were an interesting addition and helpful. Overall a good experience and would go back again. Dietary restrictions: They were willing to accommodate even removing all diary or gluten from items. Parking: Plenty of space in the attached plaza. Kid-friendliness: Diverse kids menu and allowed kids to explore the outdoor area when not causing issues.

We went to ZTejas because we were looking for a place with a nice patio area to enjoy dinner on a beautiful spring evening. Everything about that dinner was disappointing. The patio is very nice but on the night we went they were hosting some kind of trivia thing. I wish they had warned us ahead of time, or at least sat us in the back instead of right in front of the speakers. I enjoy playing trivia now and then, but it was not the dining experience we were looking for. The ahi tuna appetizer was a waste of money. There was so much stuff piled on it to make it pretty that we couldnt even taste the tuna. We ordered fish tacos and mushroom enchiladas as entrees. The latter was okay even though the mole sauce was some kind of pumpkin sauce. On the other hand the fish tacos were absurdly disappointing: A few ounces of fish rolled in tortillas with tortilla strips. They were tiny, the portion of fish was absurdly small, the rest of the ingredients contributed nothing, and who rolls tortillas for tacos? Both dishes were served with a side of rice that was either undercooked or dried out because it was full of very crunchy rice grains. There was no redeeming quality for this place. Not only was the atmosphere lacking and the food disappointing, the service was terrible as well. The server took our order promptly but it took way too long to get a couple bottles of beer. And we had almost finished our beer by the time our appetizer and entries arrived. At the same time! The server never stopped back to ask how the food was. And we had to wait 20 minutes to get our check after we had finished eating. We just sat there with empty beer bottles and water glasses in the middle of the table the whole time. Part of the problem seemed to be that our server was working both inside and outside tables. But there seemed to be zero cooperation or assistance between staff. We were sitting all that time waiting to get the check and no other server bothered to ask if wed at least like our water refilled.

My family and I used to frequent the Arboretum location (like every week) as we really loved the food, the frozen margs and the staff. I am incredibly thankful that they now opened a location a little north so that we can get our fix. Its the same incredible food and drinks but with an absolutly killer patio and an even better staff. Our experience was nothing short of exceptional. We came in tonight at around d 7:00 with a reservation. Yet no one was at the front to check us in. Finally after waiting quite a while we were told we would have to wait another 10-15 minutes for a table even though the restaurant was 80% empty inside and there were many open tables outside. We finally just left. The old locations were great, but this place seems like a disaster.

The service here is just amazing in how bad it is. Sit at a high top and its like watching a fish tank. Waiters, waitresses, hostesses all milling back and forth in front of us, and we were not served for 10 minutes. Placed a food order, mo food for 30 minutes. Really disappointing visit to z tejas last night. Service was awful. We were there for nearly 3 hours. Took forever to get drinks, another 45 min on food, and an HOUR to get our check. Our server was very rude. She said you may just want to order your second drink now before we even got our first. To top it off, a girl came to every table with a margarita cart for national margarita day and poured me and my three friends a margarita. She just poured and handed them to us and every table! When we got the check, we were all charged $15 per margarita! We explained to our waitress when she brought the check that we thought this was a promo as we did not order them. She very rudely told us you need to learn no alcohol is ever free. She then pretended to go speak to her manager, came back and aggressively grabbed our checks from us and told us she would re run them. She brought us back new checks that had typed on them customer mad they had to pay and comped the promo margaritas. She was so incredibly rude and we were there FOREVER waiting for her while she had mouthed us to her coworkers. Very disappointing!

Throughout the past 2 years i have periodically ordered food from ZTejas. It was okay but my past several orders have been excellent! Something seems to have changed for the better! Our meals have been delightful, fresh and full of flavor. We have only done take-out but I am looking forward to the new attitude of ZTejas. Salads are fresh and creative. The entrees, surprisingly thick strip steaks and the yummy seafood, are also creative, flavorful and very fresh. My gluten-free sweet tooth loves the flan! I highly recommend ZTejas Avery Ranch for a great meal and look forward to trying a cocktail or 2 when we visit soon.

Went last week as I was working in the area. Decided to bring salmon home for my son since its his favorite & ordered there before. Asked how long so I could order with enough time to leave to pick him up. Told 15 min but took 30 then when I got home & opened it, it smelled really fishy. He loves salmon & took one bite & said its bad. Being that I spent $21+ on this, I didnt want to believe him, yet when I googled how do you know if salmon is bad, sure enough: fresh salmon should have a neutral or mild smell. Bacteria on the surface of the fish convert TMAO, which produces a volatile compound called TMA which produces an unmistakably fishy odor. This $23 meal went in the trash. Spoke to the GM tonight & even though he appreciates me letting him know, nothing said about the money spent on a meal that was rancid. Didnt want to bash them without giving them a chance to make it right... but me spending $21+ on a meal that went into the trash, only being told you appreciate me informing you, didnt make it right. Definitely disappointed & I gave you a chance before making it public.

Food is definitely not worth any price they have, its really mediocre and taste like bagged or boxed food.... $20 for 3 tacos, a small small bowl with beans and rice, and a Dr pepper.... RIP OFF!! Beware most reviews are of the old location that closed a few years ago. The new place feels like a strip mall restaurant with a large eating hall. They dont serve cornbread anymore. The menu is different. The food is mediocre for the price. The beer selection is non-existing, unless you like light beers. The booths are uncomfortably high, with nowhere to put your feet on.

Delicious food! The queso was AMAZING! The flavors just melted in my mouth. I got a burger, I was kind of scared of the other items and they were a mix of southern cuisine and Hispanic culture but my family got some of the entres (Navajo taco & the Adobo chorizo meatloaf) and they were all cooked to perfection! The place was gorgeous. I truly appreciated the murals and how they included an isreali and Puerto Rican flag! They also have live music & a dance instructor on Sundays at 7 pm and its pretty cool! There were several people there on the lawn and it was quite a vibe!

We joined another couple for dinner and each had a different item, drink and 2 appetizers. The queso and yucca fries appetizers were both pretty good. Our entrees were okay. I had the fish special which the fish itself was decent but the rice was clearly something out of a box / from a food service company and the vegetables were extremely bland as if they had just been steamed without any seasoning. Our server had emphasized how everything was made from scratch so this was certainly a disappointment. 3 of our 4 had drinks so it bumped our total up a bit but at $200 for 4 people I d expect better. Additionally our server only came by about 3 times throughout the evening and at some point made a joke about how if you want anything you should order now because I don t know how soon I ll be back . Probably won t be returning any time soon.
