Trudy s is nostalgia for me I remember coming here as a child with my parents. Service was amazing - Jason was great! Drinks were perfect, thank you bartender! Details on the food: This is my first visit post covid since I m not local and soooooo much has changed under the new ownership. The rice and beans seem like Sysco quality the stuffed avocado thing should be renamed and I don t recommend it except as a shared appetizer, maybe. The flautas were ok. Guacamole was just mashed avocado, maybe fresh maybe sysco. The only thing I tried that was very tasty was the cholula chicken, again needs to be renamed to something like fried honey chicken and I didn t taste any cholula at all. It was delicious but very breaded and fried served with mashed potatoes and corn on the cob fixed mexican style and that corn was very good also. We heard from staff there will be menu changes soon so hope to visit after some of the old recipes are brought back.

Came in today at 11:30 and two employees were sitting down at tables and there was one bar tender. After a few minutes we approached the bar tender and asked if they were open. There was no music or anyone there so I thought it was an appropriate question. He wrinkled his handlebar mustache and annoying said yes. I then asked if we could just have a seat anywhere and he again very rudely said well. I guess you can sit at that table over there. Thats when we decided this was not the environment for us To eat a delicious meal and spend 100 bucks so we left.

Good food and great service. We liked their green salsa that gets served along with the nacho chips though the regular red salsa tastes god as well, we have been regulars at least with the vegetarian flaquities, loaded queso and double stacked quesadillas! Good quality and quantity of food within reasonable cost. And it is one of our regular go to Tex-mex in Austin and it has never disappointed us with good quality food and service. we have tried some of the other best ones but this still tops in best tasting food and one doesn t have to break the bank!

Arrived with a group of my coworkers (eight of us) for dinner and we were seated fairly quickly. For us to be a semi big party the service we received was good and attentive (automatic tip included). I ordered a mango swirl margarita and I really enjoyed it. For appetizers, I ordered the guacamole (came with chip). The guacamole was itself was a little wet but the tomatoes and onions were a nice touch but I do enjoy a chunky guacamole. For my meal, I ordered the chicken fajitas with corn tortillas. It came with veggies (onions, bell peppers, and zucchini) and a side of rice, choice of beans. The chicken was a tad bit dry and veggies over cooked. One thing I really did like was the green/red salsas. The flavors were nice and it had a good spicy kick to it. Overall, I enjoyed the time spent with my coworkers but the food was lackluster.

Very decent tex mex at somewhat reasonable prices. Unfortunately a few of the other Trudys have closed, And while this is not my favorite place, its a good, Austin staple. Out server was great! She was very friendly and helpful. Refilled the salsa promptly and was quite friendly outside on the patio last night. The food is not magical but certainly good. And youll get a full meal out of it. Many of the entrees are large enough to share, so keep that in mind.

Trudy s has been a favorite restaurant of mine for over a decade. My go to dish is the Honey Cholula Chicken. If you haven t tried it you MUST give it a go. It is a life changer. I stopped in today to pick up some to go and I got to talking to the Director of Ops, Chris Armstrong, and he talked me into getting their brand new Cholula Chicken sandwich and it did not disappoint! The bread on that thing is incredible. I really appreciate the excellent customer service and it felt like a very personal experience today. Can t recommend this place enough. You just don t get this kind of service anywhere anymore.

This place has been around for years and really used to be a great place to eat! But now not so much...I literally ordered 2 different plates of food and didnt like neither one and both were my favorite dishes!!! Come on Trudys get it together!! I still love the atmosphere though!! Wheelchair accessibility: They have ramps inside the restaurant for wheelchairs and its easy to get to your table. Trust me Im in a wheelchair!! Parking can be a hassle only if their busy but its plenty of parking.

My brother and I stopped here twice while in Austin, and enjoyed it both times. The food was great, and the atmosphere thoroughly pleasant, but the very best thing about the place was the wonderful staff. Our second visit came on a crowded Sunday evening, and the staff was really hustling to keep up with the crowd, but nonetheless our server Brock bent over backwards to make sure we were happy with everything. I couldnt say enough about how much we enjoyed our visit, and if I ever end up in Austin again, this is where Ill be heading.

Love the layout of the restaurant! Unfortunately would not return because this is home to the worst chicken enchilada Ive ever had. The meat looked like they took it from the bottom of the sink after doing all the dishes the night before. Not even an exaggeration. I got the chicken combo plate that has a chicken flauta, chicken enchilada, and a stuffed avocado. The stuffed avocado was actually really good, and the rice was alright. Everything else was... edible. There is much better tex-mex in the city that no should should ever have or need to eat here. Also, my server spilled a good bit of tea on the table when she was filling up our drink and came back and placed a stack of napkins on the table for US to wipe up instead of wiping it down herself. Make no mistake, the service is not what turned me off. It was definitely the food.

We ate lunch here. I got the Trudys stacked nachos with the brisket tinga, minus pico and jalapeños. My husband got the Tex-Mex combo. My dish was spicy, a little too spicy for me, but I dont usually eat spicy dishes. It was tasty, just spicy. My husbands dish was good as well. Their half price apps on happy hour are the best deal in the area. This place is a stylish and happy after work, before work, on the weekend place. Went to Trudy s for lunch on a Thursday wasn t busy at all, the staff was very friendly and helpful with the menu. Overall the food was typical and as expected. Just had a taco salad which was what you would expect, the stuff avocado was just ok. The queso and salsas were good. Got a side of mash and Mexican corn. Theyve reworked the menu recently and its really working for me. In my opinion, this place is the epitome of Tex-Mex in Austin. Strongly recommend any form of the cholula chicken.

The place wasn t busy but the service was nice but messed up my order twice. Food was tasty but portions were very small. Menu items have changed since I ve been there and while a lot of things looked good, not sure about the value. Another Austin institution that s just trying to keep up.

I always love coming to Trudy s. The Mexican martinis are great and the food is consistently delicious! The chicken and steak fajitas are fantastic. I came for lunch today and I was really impressed with Dakota s service. I will be back again soon.
