Where do I start? This place is such hidden gem! Service is fast, and food is delicious. The bartender with long and dark hair worked on Tuesday night probably makes one of the best drinks in Austin! I will definitely come back with more friends. Highly recommend their pepper goat cheese pintxos, and croquetas!

Menu was at only about half of what is shown online, so that was disappointing. We ordered cocktails not on the menu and unbeknownst to us, they were each $21, for not even a top shelf liquor - the 6 cocktail choices on the menu were $16. We tried 3 tapas, and none of them were worth writing home about. The tortilla espanola was undercooked and cold.

And all of the food (papas bravado, octopus, crudo, sandwich) and cocktails (Marbella gin and tonic and Pamplona) were DELICIOUS! Rock solid Spanish food and vibe.

Overall positive experience! We did sit outside and it was 105 degrees and you could hear the loud music from a restaurant across the street so not the best atmosphere. That being said, the food was great and friendly service. This is definitely a place with small plates and you order a handful of things to share.

I am from Spain and this bar is far from a Spanish bar with Spanish food. The tortilla de patatas is very small and yes, I know its a pintxo but in Spain they give you a large piece of tortilla with a basket full of bread and all the sauce you want (alioli). The bread with tomato was too burnt. The patatas bravas is the closest thing to real Spanish food but its still too sweet, and they even add more spices on top when thats not the case. The basque cheesecake same... too small. I was happy there were a Spanish food restaurant but this is not, although they do try. The service is fine but they are too insistent, in 5 minutes 3 waiters have come to ask if everything is okay, its a bit overwhelming. The food is very expensive for what they offer.

Food is just not good. Even with a very limited menu, the quality is sub par. Just doesn t match the price. Patatas bravas are decent, but sauce is too sweet. Octopus is a joke, can only taste the chicharrón on which it s served. They have a hamburger on the menu, really?? On the upside, shishito peppers are amazing. The place is really nice, good atmosphere and great service. Shame about the food, we were really pulling for a quality Spanish-tapas joint.

Highly recommend self parking at the recommended garage and get validation 601 W 3rd St Austin, TX 78701 United States Parking: Parking lot is around the corner from the restaurant. Validation of parking is only valid if you self park and valet was offered so we took it. Feel a little scammed about this, esp with the valet worker knowing we re going to this restaurant.

Whoever is giving this restaurant more than 2 or 3 stars, hasnt been in Spain or the Basque country! I dont have a problem if you want to serve microscopic portions of food, but when you market yourself as a Tapas and Pintxos restaurant, thats the problem. Been in Spain more than 15 times, San Sebastian and Basque country too never been served only a pinxto or tapa that is only a piece of bread and a small piece of fish $12. The tortilla española is mediocre as best. Octopus is only 3 or 4 microscopic fried pieces Im not kidding it just ridiculous. Totally forgettable and unnecessary waste of money.

Polvos Downtown Central across the street skipped our group several times for seating us. Kalimotxo staff was very friendly and accommodated us to be seated immediately. It was a little chilly outside and the staff provided blankets for our group. The upscale style drinks tasted great, and the Kali Burger was one of the best wagyu burgers Ive ever tasted. Highly recommend this spot for a date or small group of friends.

Great space, great service, and great food! Very nice reception by the host who was also very nice on the phone. Great patio (Im not sure the heaters are necessary but, hey, the investors bought them so use em!) Z the manager is the man! Excellent wine choices, savant in his reading of customers, and gracious. I ordered the Spanish grenache which pairs so well with its little, skin tannins and no oak. The burger was love and the cheesecake spectacular. The vulcans (Roman mythology not Star Trek) in the kitchen are fire masters and have my respect. Yes, I will come again! (Parking is the downtown experience so plan for it.)

After visiting Spain weve been on the lookout for a tapas bar in Austin. Kalimotxo (pronounced kali-moto) did not disappoint. The patatas bravas (called Papas Bravas here) were spot on and authentic. The Pan Con Tomate were also very good. We also got the Kalimotxo burger, the squid and the pork. Each dish was presented well and delicious. The service was fast and friendly. Seating options consists of indoor bar seating and tables in outdoor patio. Expect to order 4-6 shared plates for a party of 2. Add on a couple drinks and your total should be just under $200.

I finally visited Kalimotxo after hearing positive reviews from people I know. The atmosphere was very relaxed and offered a nice environment to enjoy the company of others. The food was also very tasty with good drinks to go with. I ve dined at plenty of tapas restaurants before and know that the portions tend to be smaller, which allows you to try a wider variety of food during your meal. However I did not expect to leave this one quite literally still hungry. We ordered a handful of drinks and 5 different dishes. My favorite drink of the night was the Sandia Rita. It was refreshing and tasted wonderfully of watermelon. The Clear As Day was so clear it could ve been easily mistaken for water, but only before you take a sip of it since it was decently strong. The other two were also good but nothing special. The pan con tomate was what you d expect. There wasn t a pile of tomato sitting on top which I personally liked since it made eating it easier. The croquettes were some of the tastiest bites of the night. They were fried, light, and crispy, and I could taste the cod inside. They reminded me of crab cakes. The kampachi crudo was just alright. I could tell the fish was of good quality and tasted very fresh, but I ve had other kampachi crudos whose ingredients and components blended together and tasted better than this one. The octopus was nice and crispy on the outside and tender inside. It paired well with the grilled tomatoes and sauce provided. The last seafood dish was also tasty. The broth was savory and filled with pieces of ham, onions, tomatoes, and a variety of seafood that paired well with bread. Overall I d say the food was worth trying at least once and was definitely tasty in my opinion. Some of the drinks were also very good. I could see myself coming back to grab a few drinks and just relax in their outdoor space. However I would recommend those seeking a filling meal to eat beforehand.

This USED to be one of my favorite restaurants in Austin. The blistered peppers are one of my favorite apps in town. I came this spring, and they were not on the menu. The waitress said that they were too spicy and people were complaining, so they took them off and they would be back shortly once they were less spicy. Bummer but not the end of the world. I checked the menu last week on the website, and was thrilled to see the peppers back on the menu! I m going to be traveling full time for the next 1-2 years and wanted to eat here one last time before leaving Austin. I made a reservation, came with a friend, and the waitress told us they discontinued the peppers. I said they were on the menu online, and she scoffed at me and told me that they ve been gone for quite a while and that I must be mistaken. This is very much a first world problem lol and I acknowledge that, but when you are really craving some thing for months, and you think you are finally going to get it, and to be let down like that and scoffed at If I wasn t with a friend I would ve honestly just walked out. The waitress did nothing to apologize or rectify this huge bummer. Sad to leave Austin with such a meh memory of one of my favorite spots. Please update your website.

We were so excited to try this and had been wanting to come for so long. We love tapas and the atmosphere is so nice. It is a bit expensive for tapas and shared plates, however, the ingredients are fresh and the atmosphere is beautiful. I hate doing this for but the reasoning for leaving a low rating was solely due to the service. Our initial server was nice and recommended some more popular dishes. However, she was switched out by someone who didnt address us at all. Simply took our plates when it was nearing the 2 hour mark and then returned and just dropped a check off on the table. When we placed our cards there, she returned and ran our cards and interrupted our conversation by just blurting out our last names and saying nothing else. We also came with our infant baby and needed to change them near the end of our meal and there was no place in their bathrooms. When we asked they manager, they said yea I know its hard I have a 4 month old too and offered their office but then said I wouldnt change them there. So basically, offered no solution to help us out. After paying a $280 ticket, we went back to our car on street changed our baby and went on with our night at another establishment. A changing table is $250...our ticket along would have paid for it. Loved the ambiance, the food, the drinks, but the service was terrible.

I do not take pleasure in giving any establishment a 1 star review and if you take the time to check my stats, you will see that this is super rare for me, however, our waiter was so bad and had the worst attitude that I cannot let her behavior slide. Hestia and Emmer and Rye are under the same group as Kalimotxo and I have given them both 5 stars. We have dined at both often, with Hestia being one of my favorite restaurants in Austin. Naturally, I was excited to dine at Kalimotxo as I was expecting the same experience. Out for a girls night, my gf and I were excited to catch up on life. When we checked in with the hostess, she was lovely and seated us inside, we wanted to sit outside instead and she accommodated us at a table facing Polvos. As soon as we were seated, within 10 minutes, Bridgett greeted us and at first, she seemed rather nice. We each ordered a drink and then we requested a small heater. We were told by the hostess that the heat could be adjusted at any time, so after about 10 minutes, the side of our faces were hot, so we asked Bridgett to turn it down and she did. Another 10 minutes went by and we were still quite hot, so we requested it lower. After a while, we requested it to be turned off as it was still burning the side of our faces. She turned it off, but because she was wearing a mask, we could not see her face, but we could tell she was rather annoyed. By this time, I noticed that tables that sat after us received their food and after 30 minutes, we were still waiting. I asked Bridgette if she could check when the order was entered and how much longer it was going to take. I felt like another 10 minutes went by before she came back to the patio with plates that looked like ours, however, she stopped at the table in front of us and began setting the plates down, when the patrons told her those were not their plates and then she realized her mistake and brought them to us. She said she would have the piquillo and mushroom remade since the plate touched the other table, but she was back within 5 minutes so I doubt they were fresh. Also, our pan con tomate and shishito peppers were lukewarm and not hot, but we ate them anyway as we were starving. We then asked her to turn the heat back on because the temperature had dropped and then she grabbed the heater and yanked it backwards and turned it on low. If I had known the heater could have been placed further back, I would have requested that instead of asking for a drop in temp several times. I know that can seem annoying, but again, when you are in the service industry, you still have to show some modicum of professionalism for your patrons. Not once did she ever ask if we wanted another drink and we were still quite hungry and were debating ordering more food but decided against it so we asked for the check and she pulled it right from her pocket! She had no intention of asking us if we wanted anything else. Rule #3 when dining, you NEVER give the customer the check until you confirm there is nothing else you can get them. Rule #2, the more they order, the more they spend. As a result, our tab was small and so was her tip. Useful Funny Cool

Wanted to try Kalimotxo for their Spanish tapas and cocktails. We came in at around 6 PM with a reservation but it was pretty empty. Pan Con Tomate: (3/4) This was one of the top recommendations but I thought it got soggy within 10 minutes of it arriving. I wasnt exactly wowd by this dish but I think the idea is that its very simple. Probably good to slowly snack on. Flatbread: (4/5) For some reason I was expecting this to be more similar to a pizza than it actually was. This was pretty good - also very simple. Kali Burger: (5/5) Wow this burger is good. Our server cut it in half for us so it was easy to share. I devoured my half in a matter of seconds but I regret nothing. Tee Time: (4/5) Recommended by our server because I wanted something refreshing. It wasnt too sweet so I happily sipped away in the summer heat. There is a lot of outdoor seating but also a ton of flies. Like I was basically just feeding the swarm of flies because I got tired of trying to shoo them away. That was pretty disgusting. Service was a little tooo attentive. We were asked about 10 times if the food + drinks were good which was a little overkill. Each time, we had to pause our conversation to confirm that everytbing was alright. Between 2 people, the total was around $70ish. Not bad for downtown!

When my boyfriend and I got here, we were placed in the tiniest corner, AWAY from everyone and I honestly can t help but felt discriminated. I brought this issue back to our host which she then seated us outside on the patio which should have happened in the first place because there was plenty of space. The food was great but our initial encounter left us so disturbed, we couldn t enjoy it. Extremely disappointing dinner. Read so many good reviews, that we were really looking forward to eating here - not to mention we wanted something different, like the Basque experience they promote. Im not sure if our waitress was stretched too thin, but we had to keep calling her over to our table to order more things, get silverware, get water, anything. She also could not explain the chicken dish. We asked if it was half a chicken, or a piece, and the answer was a non-answer, so we didnt know what to expect. The appetizers came out relatively quickly, but dinner, which was a tortilla and the chicken dish took more than an hour to arrive at the table. That was the straw that broke the camels back: the chicken was very bland. It was a piece of a breast with two pieces of a wing - all of which had jiggly white skin. In other words, it wasnt even properly crisped like a grilled chicken should be. The tortilla had no flavor and was ice cold. Giving it two stars: one for the super sweet hostesses, and one for the amazing crispy and flavorful patatas bravas. The place looks cute from the outside, but simply did not deliver.

I made a reservation for a high top and I assumed it will be indoors but was surprised that it was outdoor and it was chilly for me, they were very accommodating and sat us inside, which I really appreciated! They have the BEST wagyu burger and bravas that I ever had, it as so moist and flavorful! I gave it four stars only because we tried multiple of tHe small plates, and they were just OK. The dessert was really good as well!

This place was even better than we d heard. My girlfriend and I decided to do a dinner date as one of our first excursions since Covid. Our waiter Jackson was knowledgeable and helpful. The Kali Burger was by far the best Wagyu beef I ve ever had and Jackson told us all about how it s locally sourced. Lastly, Taylor was amazing, offered to take a photograph of us as we were attempting to take a selfie, and made our dinner special. We will be returning!

My wife and I had an impromptu date night and decided to go to Kalimoxto. Jordan our server made it memorable with her warmth and personality. She was engaging and very attentive to our dining experience. Im a klutz and spilled my water glass; instead of making me feel bad, she quickly cleaned it up and made a joke about it so I was less embarrassed. The food was amazing as usual, one of our favorite dishes is the sweet finish. The Kakigori, a mountain of shaved ice, preserved cherries, toasted bran ice cream, vanilla cream, white chocolate and hibiscus caramel. The perfect way to finish off a wonderful date night!

This place is fantastic! Their patio has quite the view, and combined with the weather this time of year, makes for a delightful time! Also, the bread with tomato is delicious! In the photo, you see ham sandwich, and patatas bravas.

Nice atmosphere! Great service! Cool unique view of the river. The only downfalls they are not socially distancing their tables. So youre a little to covid close to your neighbor. The menu is not allergen friendly. You can ask for basic items but theres no alternative menu for ppl with multiple food allergies. Nice place! Pricey but of what I saw of the food. It looked worth it. If you can eat it. Upon leaving we met the chef who said oh man I would have made you something we have an entire walk-in in the back. He said next time just to ask and they will make something. This was the perfect answer as most often I am rejected by the chefs due to my allergies and paleo way of eating due to these allergies. GO AND ENJOY YOURSELF!

Do not go to this restaurant if you are African American. This place is a white as they come. I was there with my friends for a birthday party and you could tell that our kind were not welcome just by the way we were greeted. We were the only black people there, other than one black waitress. You could tell they had little to no black staff and the white staff seemed uncomfortable. I was told that two white customers complained that they felt uncomfortable, that we were loud, because we were discussing the racial tensions happening currently within our group. Do not spend your money at this place! Support black businesses and businesses that support the African American community!

I m a New Yorker now Austinite! If this place thinks they are going to serve one little piece of appetizer for 13$, then forget plates, napkins and utensils! Bad service through the night and I went home and ate by the way. They have a lot of growing pains is all I can say.

Its part of the restaurant Hestia, but it offers a different selection of Spanish Tapas. Most of the items in the selection are either vegetarian or pescatarian. I highly recommend visiting with a group and trying lots of bites. Most plates are enough to share. Their cocktails are good as well.
