Good for seafood dishes! Experience only one visit so we wont judge too harshly. Outdoor seating, nice under the lighted trees! Nice and fast service! The food was good and okay. Details: pasta was a bit overcooked (lobster bucatini) prawns merely, well, deep fried (as advertised), and a bit unimaginative. Nothing against the quality in principle.

I never miss this place when in Austin. If you want fresh seafood and oysters, a great view of SoCo, and people watching this is the spot. The outdoor dining is comfortable. The food has not disappointed in the 5 or 6 times Ive been. It is a little on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. I always go for brunch, but Im sure their dinner menu is excellent as well.

5 stars? Service was 10 stars! Harry was incredible. Attentive and personable, but also allowed us space to have our meal. Best dinner experience we ve had in a long time. The food was so good. First time I ve liked having oysters. The AhI Tuna tostadas were incredible. The Perla top cheeseburger was unreal and those fries were top notch. This was a perfect date night.

Such a lively place to have lunch on a Friday afternoon. Parking nearby, cute downtown, and great restaurant. I ordered a delicious cocktail (vodka, spiced pear, lemon) and the ahi tuna tostadas. Everything was delicious and our server was so sweet and very knowledgeable. Definitely coming back to try their dinner! My favourite was the buratta and the lobster Mac and cheese. Be sure to try their cocktails as well, very tasty.

Patio! Perlas has nice patio that overlooks Congress. Great spot for people watching. Patio has fans to help keep you cool on a hot Texas day. Food, drinks and service was fantastic and look forward to our next visit. We had a party of 11 and our server stayed on top of everything. I dont recall anyone having to ask for anything. I highly recommend you request the patio area. We got to enjoy the nice weather, people watching, birthday celebration, family as well as good food and good drinks they all made for a perfect evening.

Arrived without a reservation but were quickly seated in patio area. Took a little while to take our order but it was a busy Labor day weekend. I was disappointed by limited beer selection, no XX, no Michelob Ultra??? We ordered the fish and chips and the Pan Roasted Gulf Grouper, both were tasty, but pricey for the portions, I think. Sides are ordered separately. May think twice before going back.

This is my new favorite restaurant in Austin. I came here Saturday for lunch. I made a reservation earlier that morning, though arrived about 2 hours early. There was no wait for me to eat at the high top tables. The decor in the restaurant is pretty, light, seaside vibes, and classy. I parked in the parking garage behind the restaurant, and Perlas validates it up to two hours! Awesome!! I usually dont even like going to restaurants in downtown because parking can be a pain, so it was really nice to have essentially free, self-park in a covered garage. Annie was my server, and she was awesome! She gave my hush puppies as complimentary app. while I browsed the menu. These are the best hush puppies Ive ever had. I ate them so fast I couldnt take a photo, lol. She gave me good raw oyster suggestions! I got 4 raw oysters, calamari, and baked oysters. Annies raw oyster recommendations were a hit, extremely good, fresh, and served perfectly. The calamari was delicious, huge generous portions that Annie nicely boxed for me, even boxed the sauces. The baked oysters were outstanding, my new favorite non-bbq dish of any restaurant Ive visited in Austin. Im from TX, though Ive lived and worked abroad, have had many exceptional culinary experiences, and am a fantastic home cook, and I was very impressed by Perlas!!! Everything from the parking, atmosphere, food, and service is top notch. It reminds me of going out to nice restaurants 20 years ago where they really studied hospitality and put in genuine effort without being too stuffy and stingy. Something unique happened while I was there that really captures the professionalism and hospitality of this restaurant. Someone had a medical emergency at a nearby table, and I watched every person help not only the patron in need but everyone, even EMS, to professionally manage the situation with empathy, grace, and efficiency. They did so many little things that really wowd me while handling that emergency that its too much to type. Yay! Im always really happy to find a well-managed restaurant like this. What a gem. Ill be back. Parking: Perlas will validate up to 2 hours of parking in the covered garage behind the restaurant.

I appreciate the atmosphere at Perla s, the outdoor patio is beautiful on a summer night. Let s start with the bad: Had to send back my NY strip as the first attempt was very over cooked even though I requested medium rare. The halibut was underwhelming. Now the good: They had a great selection of oysters, we ordered a dozen small oysters and were very happy with them. The blue crab grits and baked shells and cheese were great sides. The bucatini was tasty. The drinks were good. All being said, 2 of us were satisfied and 2 of us were not. Overall, expected more from the experience as even the service was below average. Overall 3/5

Maybe its because we went for 4th of July, which also happens to be our wedding anniversary, but it was extremely meh and I wished we had chosen a different space for our staycation for this meal. We made reservations and walked over from the Hyatt and they did provide a lovely card signed by all the staff that made me smile, they also stowed away our stroller we brought as we had our toddler at the hostess stand. The table next to us had an extremely large and loud party and if I had known, I would have requested an alternative table situation so it wouldnt have been a screaming session to talk to my husband and toddler. Our waiter was fine, I feel like he was on the best of his game (or could have been) he took our drink orders and then when returning proceeded to spill the iced Paloma I ordered all over my dress and my toddlers seat, I get it mistakes happen. But I didnt want to make a big scene for my expensive outfit and toddler being doused in alcohol and all over the floor. We ordered several appetizers and I absolutely loved the grilled oysters, the calamari was a big miss, maybe I was mislead but I couldnt stomach this. We also ordered the mac and cheese for my toddler and as that was the first thing we put in upon getting there they were able to serve it to us to get kiddo situated. The tostadas were a huge hit for us as well, and my oyster poboy was a good comfort eat. Id mark this as a non memorable meal on SoCo and for HH can see this being a fun place, but meh. Wont be back as theres better places in the area to get better services and memorable vibes especially for a celebration meal.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Perla s, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The ambiance was warm and inviting, setting the perfect tone for a memorable lunch. The menu offered a delightful array of dishes, each one more tempting than the last. I opted for the surprise dish and it did not disappoint; the flavors were perfectly balanced, and the presentation was impeccable. Every bite was a testament to the chefs skill and creativity. What truly elevated our dining experience, however, was the outstanding service provided by our waiter, Donavan. From the moment we were seated, Donavan was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly. They took the time to explain the menu, offer recommendations, and ensure that all our needs were met without ever being intrusive. It was clear that Donavan is passionate about their job and takes pride in delivering top-notch service. In a world where dining out can sometimes feel rushed and impersonal, Perla s and Donavan reminded us of the joy of great food and exceptional hospitality. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a superb dining experience. We will definitely be returning soon!

Haven t been here in years due to a previous experience. But Cole made up for it without even knowing. We had an outstanding time. I made reservations months ago for Father s Day and requested a half-booth. Our party of 4 were looking forward to a nice dinner at Perla s since we hadn t been there since the pandemic. So, so disappointing. The hostess seated us near the bathrooms. She looked surprised that we did not want to sit near the bathrooms with so many available seats in the restaurant. We had walked past an open half-booth that would have been suitable for our party and we asked the hostess for another table. She seated us at a small table, still ignoring the open table that would have been ideal for our group. Finally the hostess seated us in the open table. Not sure what was going on but she finally got permission to seat us there. That s just for starters. The waiter was slow in taking our drink order and assumed that there was only one person in our party that mattered. She was waited on; the rest of us were not. We ordered 2 large bottles of sparkling water but only one was brought and that was for the previously mentioned guest. The primary waiter was surprised that the other members of the group wanted sparkling water as well. We had another waiter get us the 2nd bottle. The waiter was slow in getting our appetizers ordered and delivered. Only the perviously mentioned guest was provided utensils. The other guests in the party needed to request forks for both the appetizer and entree. In both cases a second waiter needed to fulfill the request, since our waiter hadn t returned to our table. When we ordered a side dish of Brussels sprouts with our entree, they were charred, hard and not chewable. As a side note, we gave the waiter a 20% tip for service that clearly was NOT deserved. The service has clearly changed for the worse. We re done. That will be our last time at Perla s.

Perlas is a MUST-visit spot. We popped in for brunch and sat at the bar to watch a premier league game, and my goodness, what a great choice. Marina provided one of the best restaurant/brunch experiences weve had, and made us wish we were local so this could be our go-to spot. She was incredibly nice and helpful when ordering, and was attentive throughout our visit -- which was above and beyond for our normal bartending experiences. Easily elevated our brunch from an 10/10 to an 11/10. The food was fantastic too! We ordered the New Orleans BBQ Shrimp and Grits which really hit the spot for brunch. For apps we definitely recommend trying their oysters which were super fresh and delicious. The hushpuppies were also really good on the side. Marina served up some tasty mimosas and bloody marys which went well with all the food we were enjoying. We will 100% be back the next time were in Austin!

OMG! Do not succumb to numbnuttedness and miss this great restaurant, whether visiting Austin or a local. Should you, pity on you. Had dinner there tonight for my Dads birthday with family, from 5-yo to 89-yo in a group of 7. Menu is REALLY good for all. Food was perfectly prepared, as were libations. Venue is swell: well located, well managed, well staffed, and stellar service. We LOVED our server, Paige. She totally made our evening! We had a blast together in this beautiful restaurant. A memorable dining experience fir certain. -------------- UPDATE: Folks, Friday nights dinner was SO good that I returned the following night with friends visiting from out of town. Once again, Paige made our dinner so sweet for our reunion. I am tellin ya, GO to Perlas. However, only visit if you live to eat food and drink beverages that lift you from the mundane to a world of culinary pleasure. Parking: South Congress is busy, yet in all honesty, I never have challenges finding parking. It just happens up and down the street, in parking lots, and side streets. If concerning, just Lyft or Uber over. Kid-friendliness: We had my nephew, a rascally 5-yo with us brimming with energy. He was well taken care of throughout our evening. Wheelchair accessibility: Thoughtful design, and ADA compliant. Ramp is available opposite the side street, perpendicular to South Congress. Patio and interior seating had plenty of room to maneuver, with staff (and patrons) available everywhere should anyone want or need assistance. My Dad uses a walker and had no issues at this establishment.

Drinks and food were top notch. Old fashion drink was 7/10. Perfect night spot or place to bring friends and show off the Austin food scene.

If you re a seafood aficionado, Perla s in Austin should be at the top of your must-visit list! Nestled in the heart of SoCo, this charming spot offers not only a breezy, upscale ambiance but also dishes that will sweep you off your feet with their freshness and flavor. I recently visited Perla s with a group of friends, and we kicked off our meal with a mix of oysters and calamari. Each bite was a crisp, delightful start to our seafood adventure. For the main course, my wife enjoyed the sea bass, while I savored the halibut both dishes were cooked to perfection, highlighting the chefs prowess with premium seafood. We didn t hold back on the sides either; the grits, Brussels sprouts, and snap peas were exceptional. Each side dish was a standout, adding unique textures and flavors to our meal. The service at Perla s deserves a special mention. It was impeccable attentive without being overbearing. Our server made sure everything arrived on time, and the pacing of the meal was spot on, allowing us to enjoy our dining experience fully without feeling rushed. Overall, Perla s offers fantastic food paired with top-notch service. It s a true gem for seafood lovers, promising a culinary experience that s as delightful as the ocean breeze. Whether you re planning a casual outing with friends or a special evening out, Perla s is sure to impress!

The lobster buccatini is luscious. The pear tart is outstanding. We tried the oyster shooters thinking they were o. The half shell. It was a shot glass with an oyster in it. Being on the appetizer menu it was more booze than anything and the flavors didnt meld well. Should had its own section and noted as an actual shot. Sometimes youll get seated next to families with kids so expect that. The service typically very good

The seafood is crisp, fresh, and delicious. Probably the best oysters in a half shell Ive had, especially the Glacier Bay oysters. And their lobster roll outshines Garbos by far. Better and fresher lobster and better portion inside the roll. Highly recommend.

A new review! Perlas just gets better! While the food continues to please, and get better each time... Octopus never ceases to amaze us! Ahi Tuna Tostadas are the bomb; but we ate, for the first time their Lobster Roll, and Dikon slaw... OMG! But truly is the service! Ms Madeline as our waitperson was amazing! Felt welcome from the beginning; she was attentive (but non-invasive), attended to our every need (and her support, Mr Tomas), took care of us to pick up any slack! We never moved a dish or a glass... they did it all! Even Manager Nicholai served as Sommelier, and was Perfecto! Weve been all across the country at some of the finest restaurants, but this was the best service weve had in years! Cuddos to yall Perlas! Thanks ever so much for a once in a lifetime experience!

I m visiting Austin and asked about good seafood restaurants. I was told about this great place called Perla s. I looked the website up and looked at the menu. I decided it looked like they have a few good things and drove in from San Marcos. I parked in the parking garage behind the building paying 10.09 for 30 minutes with the intention of getting to go. When I ask for to go I m told the restaurant doesn t usually do to go. I felt so stupid. To the credit of the person at the door she did ask the kitchen and was told no because they were already too backed up. I have since checked the website and on the mobile website on my phone I see nothing stating this restaurant does not do any takeout or to go. I was alone and had no desire to sit in a crowed restaurant full of people by myself to have dinner. This place is the worst.

We had a $170 lunch here for 3 people. The shrimp cocktail came out with a hair on it and we had to wait and wait and wait for our waiter to wander back around to exchange it. The jumbo shrimp were rubbery and overcooked. The fried oyster appetizer was very good. The staff brought my companion BBQ shrimp instead of the gumbo hed ordered as entree. We didnt want to wait for the correction so he tried to eat it but hes handicapped and cant really peel shrimp. It was awful. We sat with all our dirty dishes a very long time, the shrimp cocktail remains looking disgusting with the ramekin floating in the melted ice. One of us finally had to go find the waiter to ask for the check. When he brought it, he interrupted us trying to clean the cappuccino my friend accidently spilled and he just walked off and left us trying to sop up the spill with napkins that we grabbed off another table. Never offered assistance!

Was setting up reservations for a group of 14. We were all coming into town from around the country to celebrate 4 birthdays. Called Perla and was told we each had to spend something close to $200 per person to sit next to one another. We just made 3 reservations per 4, 4, and 6... since a portion of our group wasnt drinking. When we arrived the venue was 25% full with plenty of open seating near one another... we didnt ask them to combine tables, or do something to warrant what happens next... we ask for tables close to one another so we can possibly chat across the way and enjoy company and laughs together. Instead, what we received was a cold shoulder and the staff seating us purposefully at all corners of the venue. I was at a table almost in the kitchen, the other at the door behind the welcoming station, and the other group was placed in the remaining corner next to the bar. This was so absurd we decided to eat and leave... had we not been snubbed in what was a 75% empty establishment, we all agreed we wouldve done what we always do... spend time eating, drinking, desserts and generous tips... instead we ate and left... spent our time giving White Tiger across the street our cash and tips for alcohol and great service and hospitality. Considering Perla, the food wasnt anything but normal... and hospitality was the worst! Thanks for checking this off of our list... well stick to Uchi, The Corner, Aba, etc... all of them know how to treat a customer.

The food and atmosphere was phenomenal! That s the only good thing I can say about this experience. First, it took the waiter sooooo long to even come to my table. I had to ask someone when will the waiter arrive. The waiter finally came. He greeted me with a smile and that s as far as it goes! Secondly, my food came and I had no silverware or napkins so I asked one of the guys walking past could I have a fork, napkin and straw! It took soooo long for the waiter to come by and ask did I need anything the entire evening. However, he passed by me several times as if I was invisible! I was seated on the patio and it began to rain. I did notice he went and made another table comfortable for another group of ladies (of another race) because they stated it started raining and they didn t want to be in the rain, the waiter immediately made sure those ladies were moved to a table with an umbrella to get them out the rain! Well, I made the same comment and he told me I think it ll stop soon! I even said I actually wanted to stay outside just didn t want it raining on me and he literally did nothing! He didn t run and make me a table comfortable like he did those ladies. Also, a manger (I m assuming) asked the other workers to turn off the heated lamps by the tables in my area he never asked me was I cold but instructed him to turn off the lamp I then told the worker, it s pretty cold and would you mind turning my lamp back on and he did! Sadly, he (the manger) asked the worker to turn off the lamp by me (right in my face, even made eye contact with me) disregarded the fact that I am a human and he failed to take consideration for me as a customer as well to even ask was it ok to turn off the lamp by my table! I ordered my appetizers and wanted an entree but once I realized that the waiter and staff ignored me pretty much the entire time I was there and gave mediocre service, I decided to eat the appetizers, pay and go! I did not want to spend another dime there! I ironically left the waiter the appropriate tip even though he deserved nothing more than $2 simply because I have a heart and try not to treat people the way they treat me. I also want to mention at the time I was the only Black person sitting on the patio at the time my feelings are that I was ignored and not treated like the rest of the customers because of my race because what other reason would it be, I ve never been there before, I was only in Austin on vacation! Not here to convince anyone as I know what racism feels like just stating it in a way to clear logic here. Smh! Sad it had to be that way! I will never return!

This is a beautiful place with great service, but the food was not worth the price they are charging. I got the potato crusted seabass; it was easily something I could make at home. It came on a bed of spinach and sauce, and that was it. Not exactly a filling meal for nearly $50. My husband got the lobster roll, which was just some plain lobster on a piece of lettuce, on a roll. It was pretty bland and had some shell left in it that he had to pick out.
