Food was really good, excellent service, we had a great time playing board games. Drinks were just okay. I really hope they can add Angels Envy Whiskey to their adult beverages menu. A big thanks to all the friendly staff members.

Had an amazing time here for a birthday dinner. Everyone was very friendly from start to finish and communicated everything (instructions, last call, how to play games) very clearly. They even gave our birthday girl some freshly baked (and delicious) cookies on the house. We saved the games for after we finished food as to not dirty anything. Both games we played were in good condition. I think a few of the ladders in Catch The Moon were chipped but it didnt stop us from playing or finishing the game. The food was absolutely outstanding, fresh, and everything came out quickly. The Thai Fighter sandwich is crazy good. Thanks again for a great night!

The staff and atmosphere were excellent and the drinks were stellar. The Thai fighter sandwich and the chicken tenders were great- some of the other food was good but not exactly to my preference but could see other people loving it. Overall just a great time- and highly recommend renting one of the hidden party rooms! Parking: There is a paid parking garage across the street - however, Vigilante validates. (If you dont know what that means it means they pay for your parking.)

I always end up buying the board games after :) 10000/10 you gotta try this place out if you love games!!!

It was very busy when we arrived but they were ready to make accommodations outside for us. A table opened up and our party of 3 had a wonderful time. I loved seeing the secret shelf doors in person and I highly recommend learning a new game from the server. Great food and drinks, cute games. I will definitely come sooner in the day next time, not 2 hours til closing.

If youve never experienced a gaming pub before, its a special treat coming to Vigilante. Not only do they have great drinks, and wonderful food offerings, the heart theyve put into this establishment is out of this world. Its innovative. Gamesmaster was knowledgeable, explained everything easy for even our players who didnt know much about tabletop games, or co-op strategy, etc. 1000000000% recommend you check out Vigilante. Plus the Owner, Preston, not only runs some games, but he will help out in any position in the pub. Cooking, Serving, Hosting, etc. Ive loved this place since the day it opened, and I hope it never closes.

Super cool place! I would recommend making a reservation here, as they can get quite busy. We went in as a group of 7 walk-ins, and were able to stay for just shy of 2 hours before we had to leave. That may sound like a long time , but when youre playing games, it goes by in a flash! Super good vibes though, I definitely want to go back again!

Went for the first time for our anniversary. Were on a budget, so just a standard 3 hour table reservation for us. We have sensory issues between the two of us, so we asked for whatever table was reserved for us to be in a corner or away from people. Instead, they upgraded our reservation to the big D&D room, free of charge. The food was great. Tapas style servings. The bar was awesome, too. And the one cocktail I didnt like, they took off the tab without my asking. Id have paid for it even though I didnt like it. Its the right thing to do. Tldr: Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was great. Wide selection of games to play, and theyll teach you to play them. Have fun! Parking: Paid parking garage, but the restaurant will validate your parking if youre there over x amount of hours. Park on the 1st floor or be well enough to take the stairs, though. Seriously. The elevator is broken and trapped me in it for a good 10 min. The garage doesnt belong to the restaurant, though, so dont let that color your experience.

This was, hands down, one of the most memorable gaming experiences Ive ever had. My party was shown to one of the private rooms for a D&D one shot, and it was phenomenal. Between the color-changing windows, Bluetooth speakers you can hook into for atmospheric music, and all the minis and character sheets and books at your disposal, its a DMs dream space. The food, the drinks, the service, the kindness of the wait staff and managers - all of it contributed to an epic evening. Thanks to everyone who made that day incredible for us. The food was tasty, and the service was good and prompt the lantern method is such a cool way to call a server. The game master that night seemed genuinely excited to explain new games to unknowing parties, answering all our questions with a smile. I was impressed by the themed drinks, even though they were small, and the game-ordering system was cool and stress-free. At times, it was hot inside as there were many people in my area of the restaurant. One of my guests ordered jalapenos in his drink but was given a drink without them, he was told they didnt have any...ok? He ended up ordering extra jalapenos for his burger to put in his drink, strange work around. All in all my party was full of laughs and we all had a good time and I felt the staff played part in that being achievable!

Sadly Vigilante has seen a real decrease in quality since our last visit. The website boasts free reservations over and over, but when you book it charges you $50 just to reserve a table. This on top of a $6 to $7 game fee, and youve spent nearly $100 for a table of four before youve ordered a single meal or drink. Speaking of meals, the switch from quant little sliders and snacks to full priced meals also loses of of the best features of the menu: variety. Grabbing the small snacks that were brought out one at a time was perfect for a game night, but the new system costs more, is less convenient, and means that you dont get the same opportunity to try all the different options, which are otherwise excellent. Finally, it was just miserably hot inside while we were there. Im not sure if the air was broken or what, but the whole night was hot and close, and nowhere near what youd expect given the costs for a night out. Sad really. Ive recommended this place dozens of times, but something there has changed, and its all for the worse.

what an absolute gem! really unique and fun dining experience, but i would say definitely better for groups of 4+, because it s really quite loud in there so we got drowned out by other tables as we were trying to chat as a couple. the food was overall really delicious and it s a great idea to have little snack plates while you play, however the menu could do with some more vegan options. staff are really attentive and hospitable, and the button function to call over staff needs to be implemented everywhereee please, great idea! we left after about a quarter of one game and some food, as i mentioned it was too loud in there but i don t see any way this can particularly be helped! maybe a low volume area or room so couples can still play but be able to hear each other.

Great place to have fun playing games with friends, enjoy some delicious food and drinks, and be well taken care of in a cool atmosphere. Ive been here on a date with my wife, and multiple times with my group of dad friends, and weve always enjoyed our time. Their game selection is outstanding, as our their game masters who help you learn the rules and get started quickly. Their food is delicious, and always hits the spot, with terrific options to enjoy while playing. The Thai Fighter sandwich and Crispy Brussels Sprouts are favorites of mine. Plus, it feels like they have upped their beverage game too, with great cold brew and non-alcoholic options to compliment their beers and cocktails. If youre looking to have some fun, you cant go wrong at Vigilante.

Good place for a party or special outing! Wouldnt recommend for those on a budget, as the prices can add up quite a bit with many orders. However, this establishment is of course, less of a restaurant and more of a novelty establishment. It has lovely wooden furniture and a secret room hidden behind a bookshelf. One gripe I have about this place is that all the games we played were in DISGUSTING condition, the cards were all sticky and well worn, and often dealing was difficult on account of the cards being stuck to each other. It felt highly unsanitary touching the cards and eating our finger food at the same time. That did not stop my group from having fun, and we had tons of it too, its just something I wish they could restock on in better quality. I do love that its an LGBT friendly space though, and the bathrooms are labeled by whether they have stalls or urinals rather than any gender binary or non binary. Im was surprised that they had mints and dental floss in the bathroom too.

Once again, gaming bar w a great concept, great service, terrible space. Good decorations, tables, games, looks fantastic, but if you re lucky enough to get a table, you won t be able to hear a word anyone says because the acoustics are beyond terrible and it s so loud you can t hear someone 1 ft away. Unfortunately it s not their fault, other than choosing this horrible location. Vigilante is in a strip mall apartment complex made from typical super cheap construction plaguing Austin now w zero design knowledge, zero thought, and just an eye sore. So, when you put 60 customers in stone box, w no thought about actual space use, you get a useless room meant for gaming, that no one can hear one another to game.

Coming from Vegas where great service is the expectation, this place really beats everywhere else in Austin on service and quality. They have a game master that describes the games to you so you don t spend the entire night setting up a game and arguing over the rules just to not finish. Everything was pretty great. Reservation system works like a charm. Service was fantastic. Dishes are tasty, a little pricey but completely understandable for the venue (we did NOT feel like we got ripped off or anything). That corner booths table is a little janky and wobbles a bit but wasnt too bad since you get some added privacy. Idk how to work it into the aesthetic (maybe like brown or leathery curtains) but putting something above the booths, maybe like a foot or two to help block sound between them would be a really nice touch. We were between two booths, one was totally chill, but the other one had a rather enthusiastic DM who made it hard for my players who were sitting on their side of our booth to hear the talk at our table.

Nut allergy friendly - inform the waitstaff as some dishes do have nuts. Vigilante might be one of the coolest gaming taverns Ive ever been to. They seriously have their style down. Reservations are recommended but not necessary as I walked in with a group of 4 on a Sunday night. Right off the bat, the tables are uniquely designed to be awesome for board games (convention goers may recognize the customized design for dice rolling!) and have a very straightforward button to call a waiter over. Everyone pays $5 a head to play any board game on their very well written curated menu (love how theyve organized by genre). The food combo is incredible value for sharable plates. Their brussel sprouts were very flavorful and perfectly cooked. The fries were a good amount with a nice aioli. The Smoke and Dagger was a perfect smashburger that was just the right amount of spice and toppings. The discount for a full meal is just icing on top! Their drink menu is also very well crafted with a gaming theme. I didnt have any but I sampled a few drinks from a friend. Theyre tasty, but pretty light. They even have mints in the restroom.. crazy attention to detail. Ill be back often. Vigilante is miles above some of the other board game taverns around.

We had fun overall but wont be going back. Parking: Few 2 hour parking spots. Location will validate parking garage parking for less than 5 hours. Will likely have to talk to parking attendant though since the barcode didnt work at exit.

Vigilante is a gem of a spot where the magic of gaming comes to life. Every Tuesday, I m greeted by the infectious energy of Bex, who ensures every game night is a blast. Kinsey s warm welcome makes you feel right at home, while RJ s passion for games is downright inspiring. Sara s attention to detail makes every visit smooth and enjoyable. And let s not forget Rob, whose culinary creations are as imaginative and delightful as the games we play. The staff here, including so many others, truly make Vigilante a haven for gamers. The atmosphere is electric, the community is welcoming, and the experiences are always top-notch. A big shout-out to the entire team for making every visit a five-star adventure!

I don t think I have ever done a review but this place definitely made me want to do one! I flew in from out of state and my brother and I wanted to play D&D. He had found Vigilante on google of all places and we decided to purchase two seats for one of their one shot D&D sessions. From the moment we walked in the door we were blown away by the atmosphere and ambiance. The amount of effort that went into providing an unforgettable experience has had me thinking of it ever since. We enjoyed mostly drinks during our session and the locally brewed beers were all cold, refreshing, and more choices than you could have at one sitting! We also enjoyed some cocktails that were all made to perfection. The staff was all smiles and helped finish off the amazing visit! Thank you very much to Tyler for being our amazing DM! 10/10 MUST recommend!

How have I not reviewed my favorite place yet???? If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Been coming to vigilante weekly for their D&D nights for the past 2 years. Every week its a delight. The staff is extremely friendly, the community is fantastic, and the atmosphere (especially in their secret rooms) is amazing. The food is delicious! My only complaint is that the portion sizes are slightly small, but its yummy enough to balance it all out. They also have a very creative menu and always are experimenting on new ideas and seasonal dishes. Would definitely recommend eating here.

A cool place to have fun with friends, but there are some unpleasant moments... When we got here, it was too cold in the room (as a result, one of us is sick). What about food ? I dont eat spicy food, when we got the food it was not for me. The only thing that tasted good was the cookie, it is worth trying, also a delicious burger. Food

Ive been twice now, once with a friend for a game night, and once for the Drinking and Dragons D&D one shot - and both times have been incredibly fun! Tyler, their resident DM, takes new and seasoned players on a wild ride, and is the best mix of professional and fun. All the staff members I spoke to were incredibly friendly and obliging, and if they didnt know the game, they found someone to explain so we were able to play many games during our table time. The food and drinks are also delightful!

We reserved an epic gaming table for 2.5 hours and would do 3 or more next time as we were enjoying different games. The food is good, but not what Id go there for. Its the staff, the decor, the whole ambiance. Fun way to test out games, too! Ps the drinks (cocktails and mocktails, alike) are awesome. Good beer list, as well.

Our team really appreciated their recommendations for games and food. The atmosphere, people, and quality of the food and drink for the price point was perfect for a team on a budget. We did not feel like we were budgeting in the slightest and got to enjoy so much food, drink, and games. Thank you Bex for making this experience for us an 11/10.

We stumbled upon this engaging gem, and it did NOT disappoint. When you walk in, you feel like youre entering a guild tavern. Despite the fact that they appear to be short staffed, everyone was friendly and inviting. There is a $5 per person game fee and they have literal walls filled with games but you can bring your own. The food and drinks are delicious but not very dietary or vegan friendly. I would recommend an impossible option for your burgers. Parking: They offer a 4 hour parking voucher for the parking garage across from them.

This place was one of the coolest game bars I have ever went to! First of all, its only $5 per person to play games for hours! Second, the vibe is phenomenal and we found out that all the tables and the lights were made by the founder and owner which was so cool! Third, I loved that they have a service light. So basically there is a lantern that you turn on if you need service. If you dont need anything no one will bother you which is awesome! I also loved that their game menu broke up games in categories like the type of came it is (warm up, mystery, strategy, etc.) and they also ranked each one 1-4 based on how difficult it is to learn! They have a gamemaster who will make recommendations to your group, explain the game rules, and answer any questions you have. It was a great time to hand with friends, eat good food, drink food drinks, and have a blast! I highly highly recommend checking this place out!

Food Pro- I had balsamic brussel sprouts and they were great, another Pro for me but maybe a con for others the portion sizes are small so you have room to play. There arent large plates in the way. Con- some of the players complained that the portions were to small. For example: 1 if you order wings you only receive two wing pieces. So basically youre getting one full wing. Service Pro -they have an awesome system set up so that you dont get bothered over and over while youre playing your games. You push a button something lights up above your head and it notifies the server to come to your table. Con- it would have been nice for our server to pick up the dishes when we stacked them neatly and at them at the edge of the table. Atmosphere Pro- it gives off a little bit of that old-school Tavern feel which I think was nice. Con- the booth seats eight but it is not comfortably. If you are slightly overweight you wouldnt be able to fit in the seats. And because its a long rectangle booth you cant play many games that require you to interact with people on the other end of the booth. When I was booking my reservation I envisioned a square or circular-shaped booth. Also, they do NOT allow you to push the tables that seat 4 together. We reserved a booth for one game and two tables of four for another game. But we were told that we couldnt push the two tables that sat four together for the other game it was against their policy. So some of the people in our party who could not fit in the booth had to go home. A huge let down was being charged $5 a person to play or own games even though we reserved it for 2 and 1/2 hours. The website says that its free for two and a half hours or less but we were told all reservations are charged. All in all, it was just an okay place. I would go back, if my party was only four people. Vegetarian options: Very few vegetarian options. Parking: Parking in the street is very slim. But there is a parking garage across the street

The staff was also so nice and attentive the entire night. The game selection is pretty large but not that hard to go through since they have everything categorized and ranked in difficulty to learn. Also, if you have any questions, the staff will help explain the rules to you! I would highly recommend this place. Parking: a little hard to find parking ( there is a parking garage across the street)

Went here with my husband while we were visiting Austin. We went on a Sunday night at 6pm and stayed until 9:30pm. The atmosphere was nice because I didnt feel like it was too loud, and the tables around us were all filled with different parties. We played four different games. They have a menu that lists two player games to choose from. The game master, Brennan, did a fantastic job of explaining the games briefly and in a way that was easy to understand so we could skip reading the instructions. The service was great! You press a button at the table to notify the staff when you want food/drinks/games, otherwise they leave you be. The food was really good and there were many different types of drinks to choose from. We had a lot of fun! I would definitely recommend going here if you like board games.

We chanced upon this place when we were up that way (went to costco and 99 ranch market and wanted to go to dosa shack but didnt realize they werent open on Sundays). So we looked around for anything open that was reasonably highly rated. The food was super tasty. The service was friendly and prompt. A unique set up where you can come and play board games for a few hours. Love the concept. We absolutely loved the samosas and the gyozas. Kids loved the hugs and nugs (nuggets) and fries. Would love if they added some steam veggies to their menu like broccoli or cauliflower :) Everything is made in house and I love this too about this place. The plates are small ish and priced accordingly. But keep in mind, if youre a big eater a few $9 to $11 plates will add up fast. Especially when the food is so delicious! The drinks, we didnt order any alcohol so cant comment on them. The mocktails we ordered I liked but my friend didnt like hers... I tasted hers and liked hers too and I believe she didnt like the strong sage taste that was in her drink. Wasnt super sweet like most mocktails though which again I like. The long and short is - With a witty and cute menu, I like this place and highly recommend giving this place a try. We liked or loved everything we ordered. Vegetarian options: The hommus was super tasty and they also had mushroom burgers :)
