I loved the food. Although it was a bit too salty the flavors were absolutely amazing in every single dish! I also loved the casual vibe. If it were a full service establishment I would not of enjoyed it as much. The atmosphere is good and the patio is nice but I wish they went for the japanese theme more intensely. Have more Japanese anime featured and do japanese theme nights! It would bring more people in and give the place a better identity! The employee John was a rockstar and made the experience much better! Cons: the sake was horrendous. I love sake and they only had one low quality choice and it was regrettable. Please get rid of the current one and have more options!

Wish there was closer parking without being booted. I personally like the chicken katsu curry but the chicken portion is small and leaves you either wanting to order more or get something else after. Not bad and worth a try if you re close by. Just eat something else before so you re not leaving hungry or plan to get a snack after to fill you up. Parking: Park by the tattoo shop on the opposite side of the building. If you park right in front of the restraint you ll get a boot on your car that cost a $100 to remove.

I used to love this restaurant, but can t justify going back. My husband and I dined in and luckily know which parking spots are safe to park in from prior visits. Even without being busy we could not find a clean table to sit at, so cleaned our own while we waited for our food. We waited quite a while before overhearing that staff had packaged our food to go and it had been sitting out. They re-plated some of it for dine in and delivered it cold to our table. The food was so bland, small portions, and worse quality compared to what it used to be. $60+ for two entrees, terrible wontons, a topo chico and a fountain drink.

East Side Kings, do better by your customers and do something about you re ridiculous parking lot neighbors. Just had my girlfriend come home understandably furious that she went to pick up food, and less than a min to go in to your restaurant, and then to come out to a booted car. Shady, sounds illegal from her details and reading more about it here to others who have been unfortunate to be scammed while looking to get something to eat. $100 to get a boot off? No clear signs? If you re not actively working to get rid of that nonsense, you re absolutely %100 complicit. If I could give zero stars I would. Do better East Side Kings, do better.

Writing this review to put pressure on them about the booting car situation. I saw other reviews, and just saying sorry doesnt cut it. Youre aware of the situation, and whatever youre doing, its not enough. Telling your customers a $20 is now $120 and that they have to eat that cost is ridiculous. Put someone out there to warn unsuspecting victims. Or I dont know. Figure it out. Just saying its our problem to deal with isnt going to cut it. You can reimburse the $100 fine and Ill remove this review.

Been a customer of ESK for years way before their brick and mortar store, but their parking lot is TERRIBLE. Parked in the lot adjacent to the back of the store to do a pick up (~1 min) and came back to a guy in the middle of booting my car. The signs the store has out just arent visible enough to alert drivers - especially at night. I called in to provide feedback and was told that its out of their control. Sad to say, but this establishment has lost my business. Have a better experience for your guests, ESK.

If you live in Austin.....Go If youre visiting .... Go The flavor combinations are so good. They do add plenty of jalapeno slices, so just be aware of that. As a vegetarian, I was so happy with my meal. I had the vegetarian bento box as well as the beet fries and cucumber salad. I have to admit. The beet fries were my least favorite. They were not bad at all, just not a dish I would get again. But thats just my opinion and I seem to be going against the grain on that one. Overall, I was extremely satisfied and if I lived in Austin, I would definitely come here more often.

They didn t have signal in my spot of the parking lot, only in those that were around me. Can you check the yellow line and signals in my pictures. Truthfully, this was the most flavorful katsu Ive ever had, but unfortunately it was also the thinnest katsu Ive ever had. Its a real shame! I was honestly so excited to try them, but when I received my order it was the thinnest piece of meat Id ever seen in my life. Im not sure if you can tell from the pictures, I shouldve taken better ones, but the breading was thicker than the meat and I think that speaks for itself.

Was it the best wonton Ive ever had including the 12 years Ive lived in Asia? No of course not. But was it the worst wonton ever? Actually yes. The wrapping to filing ratio was like 10:1 and the filing had no bite. It was mushy like mashed potato. The wrapping was over boiled. It would have been better to actually serve fries and just dump the herbs and spices on top of it. Itll pass as gourmet here in Austin The pork belly bowl was not as bad. Way better than Loros but thats not saying much. The flavors here complement and not clash, but I feel like it was more due to luck than actually understanding Asian cuisine.. because if they did, they would have at least cut the pork belly into smaller pieces

Food was good parking situation ruined the experience and is what lowered the star rating. I went in and within 5 minutes I got a boot on my car $100 to get it off. Ridiculous. I parked on the wrong side of Eastside King I guess there was a tow sign but since I parked literally next to the restaurant I didn t think to read the fine print which the parking guy claimed you can only park there for the 2300 block. I mean who looks at what block the restaurant is on versus the other stores are on? I wish Eastside King had more obvious signage saying don t park there even though it was literally next to the restaurant. I honestly didn t see any signage. I parked on the side with T-Mobile and other retail stores. If you were wondering. Seriously ruined my experience. I imagine this is a daily occurrence as the parking guy was waiting in his car watching anyone who goes to Eastside King and boots peoples cars.

Don t park in the 2300 blk parking for t-mobile and other business there for that matter. There are two Creepy cheesy watch dog male banshee s behind the wooden fence with green neon jackets waiting for you to park and leave the parking lot to put a freakin BOOT on your tire and costs $100 dollars to remove. They don t kindly warn you not to park there. They expect you to observe the warnings that I did not see due to just go in and out to pick up an order that took 10 secs!! if you come here, be aware that a lot of the foods are very spicy. The chicken Karaage is really good and I enjoy it every time I get it with the liberty rice. Friendly staff.

CAUTION!!!!!!!!! DO NOT park behind gated fence!!! A company adjacent them, immediately boots your car after you leave the fenced area. I was gone for less than 2 minutes ANYONE and their mother would think that it was parking meant for east side king:/ I feel so bad for them as their food is INCREDIBLE and this has to be hurting them there were also multiple other people in the lot dealing with this issue. Cost $100. Truly petty. Other than that, TRY THE FOOD amazing stuff!! xD

YUM. Delicious food. Bao buns are awesome. Dumplings were good but had to eat them creatively as they got stuck together in the to go container. Fried chicken is awesome. Fresh herb salad packs a great punch.

Used to think this place was one of the best foods in Austin. Dishes are now more jalapeno than anything else. Hid all the flavor and overwhelmed it with spice.

My baby goes crazy for their kids bento box. Edamame, soft fluffy rice and KaraAge. Adult food is also excellent. I would say NYC cuisine level, but it s actually better than that. :) Lots of international snacks too.

DO NOT PARK YOUR CAR AT 2300 South Lamar. I absolutely love the food but ESK needs to do more about the parking situation for their customers. I didn t realize 2300 South Lamar wasn t East Side King property, and I ve parked before without issues. I could still see my car while Diego put a boot on it, and had to pay Diego $100 to have it removed. Diego had ample opportunity to tell me that I need to move my car, but instead he chose to wait until I walked far enough before he put a boot on it. I never even went inside East Side King.

Cooks cant handle keeping up with orders. I wouldnt eat here if youre expecting anything less than 30min from order to service. Busch league kitchen. Tip for management, hire someone who has turned and burned food before. Not these wanna be chefs who never put in real work.

The food is amazing! The avo buns are delicious, the buns are fun and the fried avocado is crispy. The Brussels sprouts salad is so good! You wouldn t expect this place to have nice burgers, but they are really great burgers. The tofu and chicken were delicious too. Service is great as well! I would come back

We had some time to kill, so we walked here. The service was excellent and friendly. The food was very good too, we had four sushi rolls and some Kirin draft beers. Overall everything was great, but the tables outside were very dirty and there were a lot of flies. There were also some questionable people using the wifi on the patio, I think they were on drugs or homeless and spend all afternoon there. I think we would come back here, as we enjoyed our food very much. We didn t have any parking issues because we walked, but we did see signs on the front door warning people not to park next door.

The food was wonderful! Customer service was great. It was clean and COVID spaced. I was full but could have kept eating. The Classic Bento with a veggie bun was delicious. The Shaggy roll was so weird looking but perfectly flavored. The Thai Iced Tea wasnt to sweet or had that syrup thickness. Definitely worth a visit. Definitely need an option to buy the Lori chicken by the pound.

DO NOT PARK WITH THEIR NEIFHBORS. Other than that the food is great. Delicious bento boxes and other assorted Asian treats. Now w a full sushi bar and great drinks. Awesome environment and out door patio. Just beware. The parking lot on the north side belongs to a different owner and has a very aggressive booting policy.so expect to pay $ 100 USD if you even walk off the lot. Literally.

Giving one star review because the parking lot exactly adjacent to the business charged me $100 and put a boot on my car for walking into this restaurant because it was a different property. I walked in, the woman at the counter told me to move my car and by the time I had returned 25 second later there was a boot. Not sure how the food is but the experience was terrible and I wouldnt recommend anyone visit this place until that threat is sorted out. The tacos probably arent worth a $100 surcharge

While I love east side kings and have hated seeing their presence shrink in Austin. With the staff at this particular location it is easy to see why it has fallen off. My entire to-go order was wrong, returned to the store as that could be an easy mixup, got home to find it wrong AGAIN, returned a third time and was assured it was corrected only to find that the burger (I ordered the ESK, and instead was given ramen burger) order was wrong again. I highly suggest if see the chick with messy brown hair and glasses either go to the liberty bar location or head to ChiLantro, cause your order is going to be messed up and will not be fixed.

Im new to Austin and am driving for postmates while looking for full time employment. I had no idea the adjacent parking lot was not also for the restaurant until I got to the door and read the note they posted. By the time I got back to my car, Id be surprised if I was gone a full minute and Im not exaggerating, the boot was already on my tire and the guy was still writing down my car info. Suffice it to say that it cost me more to make that delivery than I made. It took eveything I made all week save about $6.00. Be aware, theyre literally standing there waiting for you to walk away to boot your car. Its $100 to remove it. EDIT: Updating this review - - I drove by East Side King and it now appears they have a big sign that explains to not park in that parking lot next door as opposed to the little sign they had on the door when I wrote this. Take it seriously. They will boot your car.
