Rode this today for the first time and injured myself at the steep hill. I had even been warned about this hill, but I assumed there would be warning signs. If there were I missed them. I see from reading other reviews Im not the only person to wipe out at this spot. There should be VERY clear warnings about this hill, and possibly some of the trees should be cleared so that you can see it coming.

This paved path is a delight to ride. The loop is about 3 miles. There is very little shade, so it can be hot, but there is a fountain where you can refill your bottle at the trailhead, and a shaded area to sit and rest between laps. The parking lot is so small we dont even bother to try it, but there always seems to be a street spot available. Its busy on the weekends but never crowded on the trail. I recommend that if youre driving a good distance to get here, as I do, you check the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center to see if they are holding an event, as people visiting the center will absolutely fill up the Veloway parking lot and all of the street parking in the area. I love riding in Veloways beautiful scenery with absolutely no car or foot traffic. I have seen foxes, snakes, rabbits, and hawks while riding. Highly recommended! Playground: There is no playground here. Theres not much for small kids to do, although bigger kids often ride on the path with their parents. Toilets: No restrooms on site. Dog-friendliness: This place is not for dogs. You could have one at the trailhead, but not on the Veloway. Picnic area: There is no picnic area, but there is a covered seating area where you could eat a packed lunch if you wanted to.

Nice trail for any level biker and rollerblader! Fully paved and trail with the option to finish the full course or turn back halfway. It is a one-way trail, so I don t suggest bringing kids unless you know they can at least make it to the halfway turn-around point. They do have a line intended to separate the slower and faster bikers, so no need to worry about that for kids or beginners. There s also no foot traffic allowed. Happy rolling!

A fast lane and a slow lane make the 3-mile loop ride suitable for everyone. A hard climb about halfway through adds to the challenge. Close to the Wildflower Center. I have seen birds, snakes (brown and green) and even a roadrunner, in addition to the wildflowers. Toilets: Clean porto-pottys.

Great, safe car and pedestrian-free cycling spot. I will say - they should nickname this the ego-way. This is like - a place where people too slow for racing, or who get regularly dropped on club rides - in order to feel good about themselves - go to on your left ( ie pass and stare down) people who are just leisurely riding and dont care about the aforementioned two things. Good entertainment. Some guy actually gave me the Armstrong to Ullrich Alpe dHuez stare. Good for you bud. You OYLd a guy in a backwards baseball cap and a Koe Wetzel t-shirt on a 2% gradient hill. Wow! Youve all but won the yellow jersey now

One of my favorite parts when visiting Austin this spring! So beautiful with the wildflowers in bloom. I went on a Tuesday afternoon and the parking lot was practically empty, it also appeared to have ample street parking available. The trail is so great, maybe a little better for biking than rollerblading. There is one pretty tiring hill on a curve but it s a good workout, other than that pretty flat and well maintained.

This was very cool, excellent 3.17 mile fully paved, bicycle-dedicated trail in beautiful South Austin. We went on a weekend and there were a lot of people there, but once you are on the trail, you really dont feel crowded at all. The trail is super wide, so even if you are slower, the faster riders have plenty of room to pass. Trail was super smooth and clean and obviously well taken care of, highly recommended, enjoy!

This is a great place to ride bicycles, inline and quad skate free of cars. User traffic is one way with a passing lane. Track is smooth and usually free of debris. 3.1 mile (5k) loop windy and rolly with an option to take a short cut and do a 1 mile loop instead. Bring your helmet as it is required (city ordinance). Pleanty of parking in the dirt lot or street side. Porta potties on site in dirt parking lot. Water fountain does not have the best pressure, I recommend bringing a water bottle. Let people know when you are passing on the left, bring lights in the evenings. Family friendly. No alcoholic beverages. Blue bonnets are visible during blue bonnet season.

Great place to bike or rollerblade. (No walking/running allowed). Wide paths so the fast people can pass on the left. Total circle is about 3.5 miles, and there is a small path at the back that connects to the Violet Crown trail and several other trails that mountain bikers take. Port a potties are available at the entrance. Its generally not too busy but be aware that sometimes little kids ride here too. Ive seen a couple of wipeouts/crashes here, so you definitely need to keep your eyes up and follow good bike etiquette. Beware the big hill and the occasional newbie who starts biking the wrong way around the track (always let them know!). No lights around the track, so make sure youve got something if riding at dusk.

Hidden gem for cycling and roller blades. 1 lap = ~3 miles. Great track for bicycles and roller blades/ roller skates ONLY. No skateboards, no scooters, no runners, no walking, no dogs, no alcoholic beverages. People are pretty strict about this so if you break these rules, you will likely be confronted by someone. Otherwise it s very nice bc there is little traffic so you don t have to worry about a dog barking at you or kids running out in front of you like some other bike paths.

Really enjoy rollerblading at the veloway. The path is nicely paved and well maintained. The route has some gentle hills to give you a bit of a workout but it is also a place you can do extended cruising. Be aware that there is one short but very steep little hill that you will need to climb. There is a rail on the right side in case you need a little support to get up the hill. Cyclists and rollerblader s are well behaved so there is lots of room if you go slow or fast. Highly recommend this area.

No doubt that this is a beautiful park with gentle hills, but I dont reccomend it for beginning rollerbladers. To ride here safely you should know how to come to a full stop, control your speed, and be comfortable making turns. I thought it would be feasible to figure these things out on the trail since so many reviews say its good for beginners, but they are probably referring to cycling. Hoping to come try again once I have better control!

We got there at 7am to beat the heat and by the time we were done at 10 the place was packed. No one was rude but we were definitely the only people who werent on a team, training for the Olympics or really into cycling or skating. I would not take small children here to bike or skate as the terrain is not that flat and there is one hill that requires some power to get up. And all the people are flying through the course with a lot of speed. Also, they have an thing for filling bike tires which we needed but is broken. There are a couple portapotties for bathrooms but they were pretty dirty.

This track is wonderful. Only roller skates and bikes are allowed. Wiped out a few times on skates and it can be scary going down the inclines without knowing whats next. Most downhills level out quickly. The trickiest one is near the end of the track. Stick with it and its a blast.
