I m not use to the trails here, but there s no signs anywhere and the entry to the park is on the side of the highway lol. When you enter through the highway, make sure you stay on the right path and not go to the one on the left. I also went in September so there wasn t any water

Plenty of parking. No paved areas. As expected, terrain can be a little uneven, slippery and muddy after rain. Overall pretty flat and shaded in most parts. We headed toward twin falls, sculpture falls and back and was less than 4 miles (without wrong turns). Unfortunately, the trail posts have graffiti and are illegible, so would suggest taking photo of map beforehand or using phone s gps. We saw people in the water near the little falls. Dogs are allowed, but saw many off leash. Dog-friendliness: Dogs are allowed, but saw many off leash.

Violet Crown Trail and Barton Creek Greenbelt Trail Loop. The combination of the Barton Creek Greenbelt, with the Violet Crown Trail, offer fantastic interactions with nature. Taken all together, its about an 8.5 mile loop, but you can go straight to and from Twin Falls and Sculpture Falls. The trails are typically in great shape, but do narrow a bit and can be overgrown if you take a side trail. You may encounter the occasional fallen limb, but the beauty of the area, especially Sculpture Falls and Twin Falls (when they have water) make this a beautiful worthwhile hike. One of my favorites in Austin.

No, the river is dry, it is far from the parking lot and they steal there. We just went to see how the river was and we came back and our things were no longer there, as it is, until the waters took the man away.

Easy flat course along creek with some natural waterfalls. Large parking lot but it does fill up quickly. No bathrooms when we went in January. Foliage just ok that time of year. Worth a couple of hours of your time if looking for something to do, but not a destination hike for scenery or challenge. Would be nice on a hot day to walk out onto the flat rocks of the falls to cool off just a short walk from the entrance.

The climbing here was, at some point, very good. No matter what time of year, what temperature, what conditions, every route on every wall is a grease fest. Everything is slimy with years of sweaty hand residue from people here every day on every wall because access is SO easy. That being said, the routes are all still pretty on-grade, which means they feather bagged them originally, so its fine. There are only a couple walls worth visiting if you climb hard. Be prepared to be surrounded by gumbies, muggles, and all sorts of the weather is good. Toilets: Restroom is a nasty pit toilet which for a hygienic person should be a last resort.

Took the left/north trail to the falls. Crazy hot weekend (105F) in August 2023. Both falls were dried up (what do you expect in this drought though?), even the buzzards werent happy about it. Only big issue was missing a turn on the way Back Out(by then youre tired and maybe out of water)... by chance I remembered a spray painted rock with an arrow and that was the trail to salvation. Saved us maybe another grueling 30 minutes of backtracking... again - come prepared people!

Been doing hiking in this space for many years and it never disappoints. If you start at Barton Springs Pool the area runs along Barton creek to Ben White then to West Lake Hills. Some of the side trails are challenging and dangerous that run up and along the cliffs. The water in the creek can vary depending on how much recent rainfall. Make sure you bring plenty of water and proper hiking shoes for the journey. Toilets: Restrooms can be found at Barton Springs pool and/or Barton Springs park at start of the trail but otherwise no bathrooms or drinking fountains along the trails.

Awesome place to get out in nature but stay basically in town. Not crowded either compared to other Austin trails (at least when we went at 7am on a Tuesday). There are a lot of little off shoots of the main trail so it can be easy at times to get off course, but I used all trails to make sure we stayed on track. Parts of the trail are rocky and might be hard to do on a bike, but other large sections would be awesome on a mountain bike or gravel bike.
