This place has amazing food and the atmosphere could be better if the staff wasn t so pretentious. I felt completely judged as soon as I walked in. Our server was great, but the rest of the staff including the host and whoever was the server assistant made me feel like I shouldn t be there. Would go back, but maybe not for happy hour? Not sure, the staff ruined the whole experience for me. Burger and oysters were delicious though!

You be the judge: We arrived at Clark s for our 1:00 PM reservation, and by 2:38 PM, we were enjoying our final cocktail. A manager, dressed in a pink dress and never introducing herself, came over and told us we had to finish our food and drinks outside because the next party, who reserved the table for 3:00 PM, had arrived early. We were told there was a two-hour time limit which we hadn t even reached. Meanwhile, the table to our right, who had already paid, was still hanging out, and the table to our left had been seated as long as us. We were the only ones asked to leave and the only minorities in that section. This was our third visit in as many weeks, but after being singled out and asked to finish in the 100+ degree Texas heat, it will likely be our last. To make matters worse, at no point did the manager return to update us on the situation, leaving us to decide whether to chug our drinks or go melt outside. We opted to have the drinks removed from our tab. Finally, as if it couldn t get worse, to add insult to injury, after we paid and left, Clark s canceled my reservation through OpenTable. For those unaware, this means we couldn t leave a review because OpenTable only allows reviews from patrons who can prove they actually dined.

This spot is so delicious. I planned my boyfriend s birthday here and they delivered. Definitely get the oysters and tartar. They have a peaches salad I m obsessed with. Always an elevated seafood experience here. Perfect for special occasions. Just make sure to make a reservation Kid-friendliness: I m sure you could bring a kid, but I would suggest not. It s an intimate adult romantic setting.

My wife & I always swing by when in town. However, this time on a rather muggy / warm day the light atmosphere was heavy as it was warmer than normal inside. Also, Im not sure why but maybe offering to-go orders would also be beneficial as away to draw in more revenue. We always spend more than $100 as the food is very delicious but end of wanting more. To-Go would alleviate that and definitely allow us the room to swing by to grab and enjoy.

Over the years I ve been to Clark s probably five or six times. They are highly overrated way overpriced for their portions and the atmosphere is stifling kind of worse than a New York subway on rush hour. Believe it or not what I can recommend here is the Friday burger special which is I think half price and quite delicious. Why would I pay $38 for a lobster roll that isn t even fresh? I just came back from the Cape lobster rolls were 38 because they were caught that day and any place I went. It was fresh seafood right off the boat besides the shrimp they have at Clark s shrimp, which are never as good as those from the northeast. The clam chowder is also over priced at $14 or anywhere on the East Coast to get it for $8 for the same size. Austin restaurant tours have been ripping off the public ever since I got here 13 years ago And I wish they would stop

Clarks Oyster Bar in Austin is a top-notch destination for oyster lovers! We recently stopped in for oysters and drinks, and we were blown away by the amazing selection of oysters they offer. Each variety was fresh, flavorful, and impeccably shucked. The mixed drinks were equally impressive, with a creative and expertly crafted cocktail menu. Every drink we tried was a delight, perfectly balanced and refreshing. The bar staff at Clarks were exceptional in their recommendations and overall pleasantness, making our experience even more enjoyable. Although we didnt stay for dinner, the quality of the oysters and drinks, combined with the welcoming and knowledgeable staff, ensures that well be back for a full meal soon. If youre in Austin and craving top-tier oysters and cocktails, Clarks Oyster Bar is the place to go!

Clarks Oyster Bar in Austin was a major disappointment. The portions were ridiculously small for the exorbitant prices they charge. To make matters worse, the quality of the food was subpar at best. The oysters were not fresh, and the other dishes were bland and uninspired. Its clear that Clarks is more interested in overcharging customers than providing a worthwhile dining experience. Avoid this place if you value your money and your taste buds.

Update: pro tip sit at the inside bar facing the kitchen. I went back for a late lunch and had the most spectacular view, food, and time. The ambiance hits way more inside (even if outside is where to be seen .) Javier was leading the kitchen while I ate and even spoke directly with me to address a food allergy question. I got to watch the seamless transition to the Chef, when he arrived and caught this cool cooking sequence where you can see the full prep of the grilled octopus! This is dinner and a show. Excellent service. Cute atmosphere. Very noisy location outside. I loved my waitress - she is what made me feel that I was getting an upscale experience (other than the price). I had the lobster roll (hold the bread). It was very tasty. Also - the lobster was cooked perfectly! There was a decent amount of lobster (which is not guaranteed) and it felt like they really picked out the meat fresh (vs bought prepicked lobster meat frozen). The slaw was there? I feel like the slaw was a missed opportunity. Great people at the outside bar went a long way to making the experience an amazing one. Parking is terrible. But. This is Austin - so it is more news when there is good parking, I guess. Lol.

Generally a solid option for an inexpensive happy hour, at least if you like burgers & martinis. Curiously, it s sometimes lacking in the oyster department, of all things. They may have eight varieties at a time, but a) that s not enough & b) it s specific to East Coast oysters. (Clark s is a smidge too bougie to serve gulf oysters, or at least not raw.) They re pricey at $4/each, and only 50 cents cheaper during happy hour. Parking: Clark s only has a half-dozen or so parking spots out front, and unless you re visiting during the day, it can be a challenge to find nearby street parking. You can either pay for a metered spot on Sixth or look on a neighborhood side street; I usually try Walsh St first. (It s only a block long, between Fifth & Sixth, and one way north off of Fifth.) Or you can just take a rideshare.)

Great service as expected. The server was knowledgeable on origins and flavor profiles of the oysters on the menu. They were extremely fresh and delicious. The ceviche was delicious, cold, citrusy, a little spice. We also had the lobster roll and the crispy red snapper with grits and sofrito. The lobster roll was outstanding, one of the best Ive had. Snapper was cooked perfectly, creamy grits, tasty sofrito. It was called crispy snapper I got one little bite of crunch, but otherwise it was just a baked fish. The kids these days are calling all kinds of things sofrito, I thought sofrito was akin to mirepoix, or duxelle. But Im into it either way and theirs was rich and well seasoned. The place inside is very small. We were seated in a little narrow bankette with a bench on one side and chairs on the other. The servers can only go in one at a time its so small. Be prepared to get cozy with your fellow patrons. Outdoors theres a breezy patio, that allows for a more relaxing dinner experience. I prefer the indoor, higher energy experience. Parking: Theres a lot out front with 6 spaces. Good luck! We showed up at 530 on a Thursday and got a spot just fine.

We hit up Clark s Oyster Bar in Austin late one evening on a business trip, thanks to a local recommendation. Right off the bat, the service was top-notch, and the food was just as good. First things first those fries. They re a must-order. Seriously, they re that good. We ordered some for the table to start, and several of us immediately ordered more with our dishes. Not a single fry was left at the end. The lobster roll was spot on, with big chunks of lobster cooked perfectly. And the crispy red snapper? Don t skip over it! Overall, they nailed it with both service and food. I ll definitely be back to check out the burger (and fries of course) next time.

Went to Clark s Oyster Bar for lunch and had a wonderful anniversary celebration. The service was really attentive and friendly, with little details like a happy anniversary postcard on the table when we arrived. Sat outside, set back from the road, under a tree and their lovely yellow awnings, it was great to be outside. Cocktails were beautifully crafted, with strong flavours and a good amount of alcohol, and food arrived timely to the table. We had Oysters to start, which looked beautifully presented on a large metal dish of crushed ice with shaved horseradish and condiments, as well as the most delicious starter in their Tuna Carpaccio. This is an amazingly crafted dish, how they get their tuna to such a thin yet beautifully firm and flavoursome presentation shows real craft, complimented by all the olives, capers & sunflower sprouts, it s a star dish. We had the lobster roll, a staple dish which could easily be shortcut, but every detail has gone in to elevate this dish too. The brioche roll was caramelised perfectly, huge perfect lettuce leaves cradled a very generous amount of delicate lobster, and a huge bowl of rosemary shoestring fries and a fresh slaw to side, it just looked amazing and tasted so too. Finished off with a delicious key lime pie, and a torched Swiss meringue on the side, this was one of the best of many meals we had on our holiday to the USA. Highly recommend and would certainly go back if we visit Austin again and try their evening sitting, which I imagine with the fairy lights in the tree s, would be just as magical. Thank You.

Clarks Oyster Bar: This lively restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating on a patio, boasting a convenient location in the heart of Austin. Dishes to Try * Crudo Plate: A visually appealing selection of four fresh fish varieties accompanied by a zesty lemon vinaigrette, wasabi, capers, chopped red onions, and chives. While the red onions could be slightly more subtle, the overall dish shines with its freshness and flavor profile. * Lobster Roll: This daily special boasts exceptionally fresh lobster served open-faced on perfectly crisp shoestring fries. A true standout. Additional Notes * A dozen oysters were ordered, including Cadillac, Stag, and East Cape varieties. * The Crab Louie Salad was satisfactory, but not necessarily a must-order. * Dont forget the Key Lime Pie! Perfection. Overall Impression Clarks Oyster Bar provided a fantastic dining experience overall. The restaurants enticing menu and fresh ingredients make it a place worth revisiting.

The question Have you had the burger at Clarks? was recently posed when discussing Austin burgers, a hot topic of conversation in my group of friends. Fast forward to today, we hit Clarks 3 - 5 pm happy hour that boasts both half price burgers and martinis, a win-win. The burger is indeed delicious and served with fun straw like fries. Albeit a little hard to grasp, they are quite tasty and I loved the crooonch. The burger also comes with special 24 hour pickled cucumbers, slightly sweet paired with the vinegar of pickling. Today we capped the meal with an affogato, my all time favorite dessert. Clarks version is served with a salty sweet chocolate chip shortbread with sea salt. Yes, yes, yes. We were seated in the bar area as we hadn t made a reservation. The space offers a communal table as well as bar seats facing the kitchen. Our server was idyllic, friendly yet gave us space to chat and eat, even linger over the dessert. She seemed to be working the entire bar area and was able to provide good service to all. In past experiences at Clarks Ive enjoyed dishes from the cold bar including the crudo plate, ceviche, steak tartare, shrimp cocktail, as well as some of the veggie sides. I prefer my seafood raw and sadly am not an oyster fan, I do keep trying them every year in hopes this changes. I do hear they are good here :) PS: While writing this review Ive learned that on the ala carte menu there is a grilled cheese with sofrito that Id like to try. My friend had the tuna melt sandwich, which was huge! She took half of it home as leftovers. My recommendation would be to go for Happy Hour, which starts early at 3pm and has 50% off drink specials and 50% off their burger, which is also excellent. Parking: There is a free parking lot on site, but there are only about 5-6 spots. You can also try parking on the street in the two blocks around Clarks.

I don t send food back nor do I change my order when eating in what appears to be a reputable establishment. I paid $17.00 for a cup of chowder that was full of celery and onions. What a ripoff. Small but very crowded trendy spot in a converted old house off West 6th Street. Service was spotty and uninterested. The food was OK. The drinks were nothing special. Very tight quarters, especially in the bar. Customers were constantly being ran into by food runners, servers and other customers while they were seated. In order to access the rest rooms, you must go through the service area, which is, naturally, crowded with busy staff doing their jobs and who must get out of your way to allow access. During my visit, the restroom did not have a toilet top (for sitting down to go) nor did they have hand towels stocked. I do not mind spending good money for a good experience. But at $100 per person, I am not impressed and do not recommend based upon my experience.

Clark s is a trendy restaurant and I believe there are several locations. I liked the scene and atmosphere. I had a cocktail and ordered clam chowder and a crab cake. Both were excellent. I was in Austin for business and ate at Clark s by myself. I can see how much fun it would be to go with a group and share some starters, have drinks, and make an evening of it. Will go there when I m back in Austin. It is pricey but an indulgence.

Clarks Oyster Bar is hands-down my favorite restaurant in Austin. As a seafood lover, Im obsessed with their flawlessly prepared scallops - they are the best Ive ever tasted, seared to tender perfection with a lovely crisp crust. The scallops alone are worth a special trip, but Clarks excels at all manner of fresh seafood. When they have Alaskan halibut on the daily menu, I absolutely must order it with the incredible chimichurri sauce, which provides the perfect savory-herby complement. The knowledgeable waitstaff provide spot-on suggestions to match with wines. With its classy yet relaxed vibe, impeccable service and out-of-this-world seafood, Clarks transports me to coastal fine dining with every visit. I cannot recommend this gem highly enough, easily earning my enthusiastic 5 out of 5 stars as the premier seafood destination in Austin.

Incredible atmosphere and staff! From the hostess to the servers to the staff members who cleared our plates, everyone was incredibly friendly and kind. The restaurant is beautiful and very relaxing. The lobster roll and french fries were great -- cocktails are super strong and creative. The crab cake was a little on the salty side but no big deal. 10/10 recommend!

Way overpriced. Got a big plate of oysters and was like 70 something dollars. Ridiculous. And they were small. I could barely even see some of them. I even asked if we can get a discount for cause the oysters were so small. Unless u have money to blow, dont go here. Left hungry and disappointed, and little pissed.

What a great place to clap off your night after a long day at the convention center. The environment was live, great, positive energy, great place to net work with other colleagues, the bartender was awesome, our waiter was on point, but who takes the trophy was the hostess as she was sitting people, cleaning the tables, taking orders, all around just being helpful. She was so awesome! Hats of to you!

I look forward to the next visit to this intimate restaurant in this beautiful and historic part of sixth street.

Always crowded according to my wife, and non-existent parking unless you nail one of like 6 spots or so up front, but I wanted to try Clarks so here we are. We hit HappyHour and the martinis were priced well, as was the burger, but 50 cents off oysters was kind of funny. The oysters were fabulous, and we ordered the Rosemary fries that were both unique and enjoyable. I love the vibe and atmosphere here--bright and festive with lots of light inside and seating outside--though in the 100+ weather, no thanks to the small front patio. Service kind of lost us seated up against the window in the bar area, but it was a nice nook to eat at despite slow service. I really want to give 5 stars--food and vibe deserve it--but the slow service and parking issues for my 1 visit has me at 4. Ill up it to 5 my next visit if service was a fluke--there are certainly more items on the menu to try that I already have my eye on.

Over a dozen selection of oysters to chose from. Sat by the window bar table and while comfortable, there were a lot of huge flies nestle around the window and table which wasn t enjoyable at all. Server did bring over a fly chaser gadget later to help. Food came slow and server missed an order so did a lot of waiting. Overall would ve given a 4 or 5 stars if wasn t for the issues above.

Real bougie.. looked down on when walking in. Ordered oysters - 15 minutes to shuck 4--they were good wish it was served with the chili crackers that was served with shrimp cocktail. Because that was the best thing $25 for 5 jumbo shrimp that had no flavor and were tough.. grated fresh horseradish not hot at all , I dont know maybe just for show. No pictures wasnt really worth seeing anything.

Excellent food, have been there a few times. Regretfully the staff changed and today the hostess refused to seat us even though there was available seating and her only excuse was it s not going to be possible or we can t make it work . I was amazed to realize the hostess would discriminate us on the basis of race. A Mexican family asking for a table at lunch time while she blatantly lied saying she could not arrange to seat 7 peopl in 10 available stools. When asked to speak to the manager he doubled down on the availability of seating saying the tables were reserved when the bar was visibly available. Later on a server nervously answered he did not know the manager and another responded saying he was busy and might take a long time to come down. Regretful to have racist people discriminating Mexican families just because we re not the trendy crowd. Seems like she should have been fired on the spot instead they all covered for her and acted like there were no seats. There is really no excuse for racism. First time in my life this happens. Shameful . This is actually the first review I ever write but I am so awe struck at the hypocrisy. Heartbreaking that people are allowed to continue this tremendous behavior.
