Ive tried to like this place, its convenient and has a good patio That said the food is consistently less than good, the drinks are meh and the service is less than stellar On my most recent visit the food took almost 30 minutes to arrive at our table. They were not overly busy We watched one server stand in the kitchen and remove her pony tail tie and fluff here hair, then pull it back into a pony tail. This is the kitchen where our food was being prepared, not the place for hair adjustments Ive tried, wont be back

We enjoyed the 5 Course Camus Vineyards wine dinner. Chef Amirs menu was sumptuous and devine-loved the flavors and details of each dish. The staff were lovely and helpful... making our experience one of a kind. Lastly we learned the Pennington pose an authentic and natural way to hold your wine glass.

Passable food. Not worth the price considering the quality of food. Falafel appetizer seemed so doughy or too much bread or something put in as a filler. No taste of chickpeas whatsoever.

Food is sometimes over salted. Service seems like they dont have enough staff when its busy, although all servers ive had do their best and are always 100% amazing, I can tell they are tired. Dining room is extremely dark to the point that Id rather sit outside in the heat. All in all... still best semi-casual place in the south, but we can all do better. Id recommend, but dont hold me to it on busy days.

July 2024 Once again we returned to District Kitchen + Cocktails to enjoy another brunch. It was not busy where we had just arrived when they opened and decided to sit in the bar. I ordered a Ruby 77 where seems to be my favorite drink here and the Farmers Hash with house made Sausage. Like a reviewed before this restaurant has nothing bad on the menu and have tried many items on the menu. The Farmers Hash was extremely delicious and had great flavor. The house made sausage was just special and tasteful to my mouth. The whole meal was unique and award winning. May 2022 I am spoiled by having such a premiere restaurant so close to my home where dining here has always been a pleasure. On this day I was here for brunch and ordered the Smoked Salmon + Avocado Toast with a Ruby 77 to pair it with. I have seen this restaurant go through many changes through the years, and always seem to get better and better. The toast arrived and the dish was presented much different from the last time where now its on a slab of wood with the toast on one side and salad on the other. I was ready to dive in and first tried the salad, and wow it was good. It had so many different ingredients and with a nice dressing on it. The toast has nice thin cuts of smoked salmon sprinkled on top of the avocado. They both were wonderful and the bread was out of this world. It all complimented with each other and the refreshing grapefruit drink was tasty as always.

The menu items we had were just wonderful, all plates basically empty! I really admire the extra birthday touch that the restaurant did, the staff signed a birthday card with a little coupon to spend next time! As a Chef myself this place was excellent all the way! Thank you! Vegetarian options: Falafel, hummus spreads, beet salad, ravioli, and much more

Why on earth do they use the worst rancid oils? Most people aren t going to notice what the off flavor is. You can taste it in the hummus and salads. Anything they add oil to. Both items would taste great if they used better quality oil. It s an awful off taste. You have been warned! We couldn t finish the food because the rancid taste was so bad .

This restaurant is a Hidden Gem in SW Austin! Celebrated my Daughters 21st Birthday here! We did the same in 2023 and this spot did not disappoint. From the second we walked in, we were greeted by a Lovely Hostess and seated. We were immediately greeted by our Server. Everything brought in a timely manor. The Appetizers were so delicious and our Entree s on point! Presentation, Taste and Class describes our Trifecta experience here!

We tried this place on a recommendation from a friend and it is a stellar place! Megan, our server, was outstanding. She answered our questions and made recommendations which we enjoyed. So many great choices, it was hard to decide. The butternut soup was to die for. Do be sure to try it if you have a chance. We shared an order of whipped feta cheese with mint, honey, olive oil and pistachios. Yummy! My husband had the Caesar salad with anchovies and said it was outstanding, then he and I split a bison burger as we had never tried it before. It was cooked perfectly and was much like beef but a bit milder. My friend tried the falafels, which she really enjoyed. The atmosphere was enjoyable and quiet. Next time we are in Austin, we will definitely be coming here again.

I ve been here twice, once for breakfast and it was okay. The next time I came for dinner was a terrible experience. I had a reservation inside for 2 but when we arrived the host said we had made reservations outside and it was raining so they cancelled it. I showed that my reservation had been inside the restaurant and wasn t cancelled and they refused to sit us and we had to go to the bar. We split a mixed greens salad that arrived with iceberg lettuce only. I had an amazing server my first experience and an awesome bartender my second, but the food was awful and the hosts were completely unorganized when it started raining.

I was genuinely impressed and pleased with District Kitchen! I had such a lovely time! The food was scrumptious and it was an innovative take on New American dishes that delivered. The presentation of all dishes were delicately and intentionally crafted; visually it was an inviting presentation across all dishes my party had. The burger was the best burger I have ever had, the bison was just right. The serving sizes were generous and I felt that I got my money s worth; it was an excellent value. My only feedback is that the outside part of the wagyu beef could be crispier to contrast with the soft texture of the inner part; very small recommendation to an outstanding dish. Giuliana was our server. She was funny, delightful, and warm. She helped us feel welcomed, explain the menu well, timed orders and dishes well. She had such a good energy! The atmosphere was ideal for our occasion. We were looking for an inviting place, with no long lines, not trendy yet beautiful and District absolutely hit the spot! The only reason I have it four stars instead of five is that it was a bit quieter than I expected. There s a lot of competition in Austin, but it s clear why this restaurant has done well for so many years while trendy places come and go. This is a hidden gem in a residential part of town that will solidly deliver without the hype of crowds that you would find in downtown. I haven t written a restaurant review for at least a decade, but this experience was so exceptional that I had to post and rave about it as soon as I could. I will definitely come back for more and will recommend 10/10 to friends and family.

Had brunch here and it wasnt that great. The food was passable, but service was very slow. We were given the option of eating indoors or out. Since it was over 100 degrees we didnt really feel like eating outside. No one else did either, but the misters were going full blast the whole time were were there (about 2 hours). I think theyll have to shut them off next week when Austin moves to Stage 2 Water Restrictions. The spicy chicken sandwich I had was nothing special. Certainly it wasnt crisp and crunchy. The fries were pretty good. My wifes Eggs Benedict were OK, but again nothing special. Prices were pretty reasonable though. It took quite a while to place our orders. We were never asked if we needed anything or if everything was OK. When I wanted to leave I noticed our waitress making drinks, which led me to think perhaps theyre short staffed. It was also very warm in there. Im not a fan of Austin Restaurants being freezing, but we were sweating. Wed eaten here a while back when they first opened for dinner and werent impressed very much back then either.

The staff was a little pushy about cocktails. The server did an good job but complained about the rough day he was having. He disappeared for a while, but was friendly and accommodating when present. She claimed she sat our friends so we went to look for them. They werent there. She insisted we were wrong. We called our friends and sure enough they were still driving. She gave our reservation away. Again no big deal. But she just stopped talking to us. We sat down and waited. No apology. Another party of 4 walked in and she sat them immediately. I was upset at this point. She should have provided customer service, apologized for the confusion, and just found us a table. Easy. Used to be a longtime regular since this place opened. Lately, Ive found myself avoiding this place, and the meal I had 2 weeks ago was the seal on the letter. Food was barely lukewarm. Sauces were heterogenized, when they are left out to be become stale and are old (for the karaage). also ordered the kebabs app, the sauces they spread in the plate was dry! it was FLAKING off the dish instead of being spreadable, blew my mind. How they could also remove their best item in the menu and replace it with a void and tasteless Chicken and Leek is beyond me. ive tried ordering it twice, there is so little flavor. Its a shame bc this place quickly rose into the rotation for going out with friends, but has slowly fallen out over the past year, and now is definitely out.

The dessert was delicious, but also over priced as well. The scoop of ice cream was a table spoon size with a good size cake slice. After we were all done. We were looking for the server for the check for an additional 20 minutes. Very disappointed with this experience. Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly staff

One of my favorite spots to eat while in the Austin area. The hog wings are a must-have! The drink list is original and creative. The desserts are surprisingly delicious make sure to save room.

The food decent but be prepared to pay like if you are visiting a 5 star restaurant! $3 extra to add 2 small slices of avocado and $5 extra to sub brussel sprouts for the fries. Also, we ordered oysters, 6 for $30 and had asked how big they were. The server said medium...not! They were about the size of a penny. Oh, well, lesson learned. The bison burger was cooked well and it was tasty, Ill give them that but I will not be going back.

Service: Our server Rayn (such unique beautiful spelling for a really pretty name pronounced rain ) was wonderful and did a lovely job. Food: The pork street tacos were so so delicious! We enjoyed the lamb kabob as well :) Drinks: the Bees Knees cocktail was my favorite if you enjoy sweet drinks :) will for sure be back! Atmosphere: We sat outside and the outdoor seating area was lovely :) Really liked the Christmas string lights on the tree trunk! String lights are so pretty :) Thank you! Very much looking forward to another visit for more yummy tacos and the bees knees cocktail! Yum! :) perfect way to unwind after a long week! Thank you for having us :)

Went here once in the before times and the food and service were absolutely excellent. We decided to choose District Kitchen as our first venture out post-vavcination and it was even better than I remembered. Great food, great atmosphere, great people. I expect this will be one of our staple celebration restaurants from here on out. Update: This has become our favorite restaurant. Ive yet to have a dish here I dont love.

We used to like this place, however we ordered take out and what a disappointment. 3 orders and the 3 with the minimum portion of protein, the chicken burned, the onion rings undone, they only took the protein that was left over in poor condition and stuffed it with potatoes. It is a world of difference to what we ate there and at home. Thanks, we wont go back.

Wow! This place was weird, confused (like pomegranate on Chicken Milanese) and overpriced. Wrenches for door knobs but some guy in a suit brings you your food. Also, wanted to sit outside and was told there wasn t any tables. We watched out the window at the three plus tables remain empty the entire time we were there. The only thing good about it was our waitress.

The truffle fries had no truffle on them. There wasnt any hollandaise sauce for the eggs Benedict which was over cooked, & lacked flavor. I had to ask for salad dressing. The flavor was on every 3rd bite of the smoked trout avacado toast. The drinks were superb. Sad to see this place go so far downhill from where it was 6 months ago. Bad management, & terrible service all around. Very disappointing. They are clearly having $ problems & chose to make portions smaller & every dish failed to have enough flavor to go around. I wont go back

We were in the area looking for a late dinner, & this place popped up first on my search of Google Maps- & so glad it did!! It was pretty crowded. We were asked if we had reservations by the host, and of course, we didnt. They found my husband & a nice little table on the patio. Our server was great and suggested the best cocktails. The food was amazing. My husband says the Harrisa pork tenderloin was the best meal hes ever had. My soft-shell crab sandwich rivaled any that youd find in the Outerbanks. District is where its at for sure!

Not impressed. We were looking for a romantic place. Hubs googles romantic this popped up. NOT romantic but ok heard food is good. We were seated it took almost 10 min for our waiter to come by. We order appetizer and 2 glasses of wine. Appetizer arrives not delivered by our waiter I ask if they can check on our drinks. He comes right back with them. They had been sitting on the bar waiting for our waiter. Waiter comes by about 5 min after we finish appies and takes our order then disappears again We are seeing all the other waiters but not ours. Salad come out not delivered by our waiter. We told him 3 times we were sharing the salad but it comes in one big plate. Then rest of dinner comes out not delivered by our waiter. Food is good but cold because it has been sitting waiting to be delivered. We eat it anyway and enjoy it trying to not make an issue. Waiter comes to take order from table next to us. We have finished, our plates have been cleared but we have to call waiter over and ask for check. He brings it then disappears again. After about 7 or 8 minutes I finally see him in the bar chit chatting. After another 5 min my husband sees the manager and goes to him. We want to pay the bill and leave. Manager apologizes but we told him we won t be back.

I used to really like District Kitchen and would order take out frequently. I have noticed lately that the portion sizes seem smaller when ordering out and the food is insanely overpriced for what you are receiving. I have not dined in the restaurant lately so I can t say if this is the case if dining in, but I will not be ordering take out again anytime soon from this restaurant.

Great neighborhood spot & awesome happy hour specials. Love the seasonal rotations & small plates. The bone marrow starter is also really good! Current favorite starter on the HH menu is the Chicken Pesto Naan. If you feeling a mixed drink & like a suble ginger flavor try the Cutie. The Ancho Rita is also nice. The pastry chef comes up with some new creations regularly & theyre always great! I like trying a new one as much as possible.

This place was great! No wait to get seated, and the food was fantastic - we had the charcuterie board (meat and cheese combo, but they also had cheese only for vegetarians) and our waiter Chad was top tier, brought us a little extra bread for the last bits of the board and was generally very attentive. I got the autumnal gnocchi and it DID taste like autumn! SO good. Very much recommend! Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian menu options!

Went here for brunch with our daughter and son-in-law. They have been here a few times and like the biscuits and gravy and the Heart Breaker. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with fried chicken, it was good but I could not eat all of it. Our daughter ordered the French Toast, it was good as well. My husband ordered the Heart Breaker and wasn t a fan of everything being lumped together. The service was decent, but should have been better since there were only a few tables seated when we arrived. They also have a weird list of drinks available, and no hot drinks other than coffee. It s not near us, so we won t be making a special trip for a return visit.
