First time using College Hunks and they live up to their name we needed help moving between units in a building and were sent two hunks: Avery and Rafael. They were punctual (early in fact), communicative (always a plus with men), friendly, and professional. I definitely appreciated the initiative taken to ferry our things over as we werent completely packed, the care they took with each belonging, and their assistance assembling some furniture. TL;DR: Moving sucks but hiring College Hunks certainly makes it easier.

When quoting to move into a new house, we got several bids from local movers. College hunks was not only one of the most affordable options, it was also the first to respond to our request. They were detailed in the questions they asked before hand and provided a quote that was accurate instead of lowballing at the quote and charging more at the end. we moved a three bedroom house that was fully packed with some upscale furniture. The guys did excellent work in packing and protecting all of the items to get them to our final destination safely. They even lug a huge couch all the way upstairs and set it up for us. All of the furniture was reassembled in the proper locations at the new house, and they were timely, professional, and overall just great guys to work with. They worked their butts off, and it happened to be the hottest day of the summer. Cannot recommend them enough. 10 out of 10 service.

I called to get a quote to have my 88 sofa hauled off. An easy job, I was very specific on the sofa size. Got a quote for $109, which I thought was reasonable. Movers showed up and gave me a minimum fee of $389, plus a disposal fee of $50!! Naturally, I rejected that and he eventually dropped the price to a total of $230. I just went with it because I needed it done and didnt have the time to deal with finding another mover. Total bait and switch.

Oh man. This company is hit or miss. I once had Tyler and Arno come and move me into my first Austin apartment and they were awesome! I thought Id go with a known quantity and book with them again for my second move. BIG MISTAKE! It started with Travis and his associate getting stuck in a stairwell. I lost 30 minutes of move time trying to find them. I had left explicit instructions on where to park, but they ignored it. It proceeded to go downhill when I watched Travis dump my entire dining set on the floor as he hadnt secured anything to his cart. My table and chairs got damaged. What was the worst part is when they got my couch stuck and tore up the walls of my apartment. Im talking gouges and paint. Not to mention, a lot of it transferred onto my couch. They were trying to act like it didnt happen. When I spoke to their manager, I felt like I was being treated like I was hysterical. They had to call two other men to come out and get the couch free. I had a call and a visit from their claims department, and Ciro promised to reimburse me for both the damage to my couch (they were going to have it professionally cleaned) and for the money I lost from my security deposit. I forwarded the paperwork to him, and he ignored me. So now I have a ruined couch and lost my security deposit because College HUNKS of Austin sent me very incompetent people. What was even worse is that I had to continue moving myself out of my apartment because we lost so much time between them getting stuck and them getting my couch stuck. I still had to pay for the whole time I had booked. I wish I could give 0/10 stars. Booker beware!

The four hunks, two who moved the furniture, and two who came the day before to take pictures and provide an estimate, were great. The rest of the operation was a clown show. They use no telephone ID personal phones so always think it s Nancy Pelosi or other telemarketer. They don t share any information within the company. 20 minutes after the driver has left a message saying he s 10 minutes away, the dispatcher calls to ask the name of your building because he doesn t know if they have proof of insurance on file there. No one had the Concierge s phone number even though I had given it to 5 different people. The movers asked me how much I was paying. Hilarious.

Worst customer service I ve received in a while. The movers, Matt and Jeremy, were both awesome and worked really hard to help me move everything in, however they were not equipped to move one of the couches inside. My apartment entrance ended up being too tight and we were not able to work out a way for them to do it without using different equipment that the company does not have. After speaking with someone over the phone, I believe his name was Angel, and requesting that I be refunded for at least part of the fee, seeing as they weren t able to move everything, they refused. They told me if I needed more people to move it in I needed to pay an extra $300+ more on top of the $500 I already paid (for 4 pieces of furniture). I explained that the person I had spoken to when scheduling the move assured me I didn t need to worry that they couldn t do it, even after expressing concern over the size of my apartment staircase and the weight of the sofa, Angel told me that their policy actually states I had to have more space in order to have them do the move.l, as they do not use certain equipment/maneuvers for their moves. Why this was not explained to me over the phone when I expressed concern over the space, I m not sure. I would definitely not be recommending this place to anyone and would advise people to steer away unless you have a smaller, easier move you re looking for.

I had a scheduled junk removal today. Bart and David were the ones to help me out today. They called 15 minutes before they arrived and parked near my entrance. They were able to give me an approximate quote and went straight to work. They were able to dismantle everything and remove the bulk items under an hour. I am so happy with the service!!!! I would recommend this to anyone. The payment was with credit card and it was super quick. Once you pay, you get an emailed receipt immediately. Bulk items will have a surcharge price.

You wont feel safe. My 7-month pregnant wife greeted the movers at our door, they walked in, and the mover-in-charge started yelling at my wife because he didnt feel prepared for the amount of stuff we had packed. CURSING AT HER! Shes 7-months pregnant, shocked and terrified as this man walks further into her home, getting more and more hostile. Who acts like that?? Dangerous people. I was upstairs and ran down after hearing my wife crying and a man yelling at her. He told me why he was mad, and I told him to get out of my house immediately. Oh, and these arent college kids. He was in his late 30s, with red/brown beard. I called College Hunks and was told the hostile mover was just having a bad day after his earlier move. Wow. They sent 3 different movers the next day, the move was wildly slow and much more expensive, and Im still furious. There are plenty of movers in Austin who wont make your loved ones feel unsafe - do not risk hiring College Hunks. PS: Since reviews with photos get more attention, Im including a photo of the bed frame they improperly assembled).

I can t thank College Hunks enough! I had another local moving company cancel on me last minute (the night before at 8:30 PM and on a Friday no less) and hopped on google in a panic. My phone call was answered close to 9 PM and they scheduled movers to come thatSaturday morning at 8 AM. Rizer & Julian showed up promptly and were so friendly and helpful. This has been the WORST experience I have ever had from a moving company. I used this service for only 2 hours and to move less than 10 miles and in the process, the movers lost 1 of my armchairs and damaged my furniture so much that I had to buy replacements. I had to disassemble the furniture MYSELF since the movers did not bring the necessary tools. On top of all of that, the movers made multiple rude and inappropriate remarks that made me very uncomfortable. Save yourself a huge headache and book another moving company.... tldr: They told me that they could deliver my couch. They left it at the bottom of my 3 flight stair case without any recommendations, only a sorry this is a risky move we have more jobs. Had to find and pay for 2 local movers that were able to do the job. They can move small boxes, but not what you hired them to move. Would not depend on them to complete their contract. Full review below. While Christian and Paul did a good job moving most all of the items, they were unable to move my couch (the main reason that I used a moving service, to my apartment complex). I shifted my schedule to allow them to do my job earlier in the day, which I was happy to do, but this just allowed their scheduler to book two more moves in the afternoon after my move was finishing. I think this was an example of college hunks prioritizing future jobs, rushing Christian and Paul and affecting their ultimate decision to leave me high and dry with a couch at the bottom of my stairs. They were concerned after moving the couch that it would be a tight fit and difficult for them to move up the stairs safely. This made sense, but what doesnt make sense is that they advertise themselves to be equipped to handle all types of moves, and then are unable to complete the job. They left me high and dry with no recommendations or options to move the couch. (They did place the couch under the stairs and out of foot traffic so thats nice). I then had to spend an hour finding, talking and vetting workers to come move the couch up the stairs. I fortunately was able to find Mombo shakers and movers, and paid them $120 to finish the job that college hunks were unable to complete. They were able to get the couch up the stairs and in my bedroom without special appliance tools in 20 minutes. It was definitely difficult to get the couch up, and Im not certain that Christian and Paul would have been able to get the couch up after moving other items. However, 1) I explained couch size and stairs over the phone before college hunks arrived (it was no surprise), they had not mentioned any issues before (and two other workers were able to complete the job with no special equipment) and 2) they literally up and left, leaving me to find other movers in the middle of the day after they were pressured to complete 2 more jobs and were tired. They made no effort to complete the contract that was promised, and when they were unable to, left me with a couch and no direction on how to seek assistance (I even offered to help move the couch up the stairs with them). If you have a bunch of smaller boxes to move, this is an affordable service that will be done in a timely manner. If you need to move any larger pieces that require experience and more strength than youre able to offer yourself, this is not the moving service for you. -- afternote; messaged christian for his managers number, he ghosted my message and did not message back. The company also did not call me back after I left them a voice message telling them about my situation. They will do the same to you when you most need help.

I had Chris and Nate come help me complete my move, 1 bed apt to 1 bed apt. They were super efficient, and just outstanding overall. They were incredibly professional, and communicated well on when they were arriving. I was incredibly stressed as I was doing a move last minute, but Chris and Nate knocked out it out of the park and definitely put me more at ease with their performance. Ricardo and Matthew were the junk haulers today. In a younger years we always removed items before they accumulated. After family illnesses and deaths, things built up. Even though our waste management removes stuff by appointment, we needed the muscle power to remove the stuff from the back yard. We didn t think we had much stuff but the stuff filled a truck. If you need a huge truck, be sure to ask for one in advance. I didn t think I had much stuff but their truck filled quickly. They removed years of accumulation of back yard debris and lawn furniture. I m appreciative of their work. Now we can move forward with a landscaping company to create a beautiful back yard.

I do not recommend using this company. With our last move, the movers don t move small items . It took us 2 additional days to move. As a resolution we were offered a $25 voucher off for our next move. The movers will damage your items and scratch walls.

This company illegally dumps unwanted furniture from moves on public streets. I (with multiple other witnesses) watched as they unloaded a 3 foot coffee table from a marked truck and abandoned the table in the road in front of my house and drove away. Tried multiple times to speak to management to have it removed and they continued to deny responsibility. Does not seem like a very trustworthy company. I would not want them moving my things.

Unprofessional. The price quoted was half the price of what was actually charged. Not only did they show up late, but they took their sweet time with a move that wasnt nearly as difficult as it was made out to be and the movers would disappear for periods of time. It took 6 hours to move two rooms of a one bedroom apartment.

Way overpriced and they take up so much of your time trying to give you a free estimate. They try to scam you into having someone come out to look at your house to give you an actual estimate but it s just a sales scheme. The lady on the phone was incredibly rude. Just go with Uhaul. They have movers that are way more affordable and give you an estimate right away online.

The movers didnt follow instructions. Scratched the hardwood floors. Missed tons of things they were supposed to load. One of the screens was also cracked. If the mover didnt cost close to $1000 for a small apartment, I probably wouldnt have given such a low score but this is the quality of work I would expect if I got my random friends to move my apartment.

IF you need DEMOLITION done to your house, then this is the company to call! Otherwise, hire someone else. I scheduled a removal of a couch. The men assigned to my job arrived early (YAY! The only good thing), and we surveyed the removal. During the removal process, the men removing the couch gouged my walls with the couch and broke a window sill. Now obviously, they seemed upset about this and snapped pictures stating that someone with claims would be contacting me. I proceeded to pay them out of good faith (man that was a stupid idea, but call me an optimist). FIVE DAYS LATER, I finally get an email from someone from the local office requesting pictures (which I emailed back the same day). Im now 3 days after THAT email with zero responses regardless of how much I email (or even call the number in the email signature). Ive taken to calling the corporate customer service 5 times to have them message the local office with zero response. The long and short of it is this: Want destruction? Want to be left in the lurch with a $1000 repair bill to your house? Want to be ignored for over a week even though youve attempted to take the high road and pay someone for the work they did? CHHJ is your company! Enjoy the pain!
