They have an entire vegan menu and gluten-free menu! I had the Enchiladas de Verduras (veggie filling) and it was delish. If you re plant-based, vegan, nutrition-forward or whole food plant based, Gueros is a great option. Perfect location in an active part of town, great service, delicious food.

We stopped in for lunch today. The food was amazing, as usual. The drinks were on point and the atmosphere was good. My compliant is the server EVELYN. She was great until we asked for the check. She showed us our bill on a small computer... we decieded to pay in CASH instead of CREDIT CARD. She than took it upon herself to think that the extra $21 was her tip on a $60 tab! When asked her about our change she agreed she kept our money and than proceeded to chat up the other employees but not give us our change back. We than had to ask, AGAIN, for our change... she didnt deserve any tip because she is a THEIF but we left her 20%... hope she appreciates it because if it was just me... she would NOT have gotten a tip. Be weary when you patronize this business... and watch your CASH!

Tacos and margaritas were all yummy. Loved sitting outside and watching the foot traffic on South Congress. There was a customer who was stimming from autism outside eating too. He was loud plain and simple. The respect that was shown to him by staff to be himself spoke volumes as he was fully accepted and treated like any other patron. For this alone I will recommend Gueros over and over.

This is an awesome space/location thats carrying the entire business. The tables already have salsa on them, which is ok but who knows how long they sit out. Then our food arrived in under 10 minutes of ordering, even less for our kids meal. Clearly its cooked well in advance and mostly just waiting to be plated, much more so than your typical restaurant. The tacos were just meat and tortillas, never occurred to me that youd need to ask for lettuce. Drinks and dessert were not worth eating, we left/threw out both

SoCo TexMex Icon for good reason. Pro tip - they validate parking for two hours. Do not pay in the garage - get validated AT Guerro s. Fun and funky atmosphere with solid classic TexMex. Breakfast served all day. Solid kids menu. The whole family will leave happy. They make their salsas fresh in house. Same for the tortillas. The servers are pros used to the constant crush of SoCo shoppers and tourists. They make the locals feel at home, still. Live music in their Oak Garden. A classic night in downtown that is still what it always was. Vegetarian options: There are options for vegetarians and pescatarians. Did not see much for vegans. Dietary restrictions: They were super accommodating But high likelihood of cross contamination Parking: They offer free parking validation for the lot behind the venue and a small lot next to the restaurant. Do not pay on the lot. Go straight to Guerro s and get the parking validated there. They offer free two hour parking. Kid-friendliness: Super kid and everyone friendly. Wheelchair accessibility: Very accessible throughout

Our waitress didnt bring us any plates for the desserts. I mean, its not unreasonable for two dudes to eat dessert off the same plate but when we asked for plates she only brought one, and that just made it kind of weird. We asked for yet another plate. I got some kind of BBQ sauce for my steak/brisket tacos that was ace. Parking: Tiny free lot. Theres a nearby paid garage where they validate parking and it gets refunded after like 3 days or something.

We are visiting from out of town and wanted some authentic TexMex food. We were on South Congress and tried Guero s. We were very disappointed. We started with the chips and queso. The queso was okay but tasted like they had warmed up a block of Velveeta cheese and put a little pico de gallo in it. It wasn t spicy and just tasted like Velveeta. I ordered a margarita on the rocks. It arrived frozen so the server had them re-make it. The frozen one was okay but didn t have a great flavor. The one on the rocks was terrible. It had no flavor at all- just tasted like water with a little lime or something. I couldn t even drink it. When I complained to our server, she said that the ones on the rocks are never good and she doesn t recommend them. She agreed that they have no flavor. She didn t tell me that BEFORE I ordered, however, and she didn t take it off my bill. My kids ordered nonalcoholic flavored margaritas- one raspberry and one strawberry and they also said theirs were tasteless. We re basically paid $7 each for colored water. The good was mediocre and lacked flavor. I had a fish taco, pastor taco, and a beef and pork tamale. The fish taco had some flavor but the fish was mushy. The pastor taco had pineapple and that was the only part with any flavor. The tamale was rather dry and didn t have much flavor either. The kids had a steak taco and brisket tacos and they said they were okay. The tacos were just meat on a flour tortilla, though. There were no toppings. The atmosphere was nothing exciting. It was kind of loud despite not being crowded. I would not recommend this restaurant. We were very disappointed with the food and drinks.

Food was great. I was informed that I could get my parking validated for 2 hours by entering my info on a tablet at the front but after validating, I still received a parking ticket from the city of Austin. I just had to sit through a hearing at the PD and found out that the company that validated and the org that monitors parking were not the same company/organization. Please make sure that the spot that you parked in is covered by the same org that covers the validation or else you will still get a ticket and have to sit through a hearing/pay fines/waste time with government red tape.

I popped in for a solo lunch date. I was seated right away, no wait. I ordered a mojito, a tamale, an El pastor taco and queso. Yes it seems like a lot but I want a bite of everything! It was tasty. The tamale was meh and the taco was 4 out of 5. Biggest recommend would be the salsa or queso. Those were yummy. I ordered a mojito and a margarita. Both were great but on the small side. You need to order two drinks to equate to one. Definitely would go again! Parking: You can find both paid and free parking. It fills up fast so as long as your patient youll find one or the other. Saw so many people uber here within a few minutes of each other. Probably the easiest but not as cheap to uber.

I ate here many times when I lived in Austin and several times when I was back visiting. The food here is good but I have always found it VERY overpriced for what it is. They make some good tacos here but the price for tacos is really expensive. Mostly I guess you are just paying for the nice ambiance and cool vibe here. Parking seems to always be a challenge here so be prepared to deal with that issue. Service here ranges from indifferent to decent but rarely fantastic. There is no shortage of taco joints in Austin so for whatever reason this one seems to be the most trendy but you can get as good or better tacos at plenty of other Tex-Mex joints for far cheaper. If you just want the cool vibe and dont mind selling your kidney for some tacos then certainly continue to enjoy the experience of Gueros Taco Bar.

Güeros is a really great Tex-Mex place for those looking for an alternative to Chuys (both are really good in my opinion) but the real kicker here is its connection with DEATH PROOF. Every time I come in here I find myself quoting the movie. And even though its got film clout, the food is high quality, massively portioned, and is relatively affordable. I recommend coming here on a weekday as the weekends tend to get busy, and also check out their outdoor dining as well as the musical stage next to it. Its such a great spot.

Gueros offered a mixed experience with their Macho Tacos falling short due to excessive moisture, while the Picadillo and Pastor Tacos stood out with their exceptional flavors. Unfortunately, the Margarita lacked any discernible taste, proving to be disappointingly bland. On a brighter note, the Chips and Queso were a highlight, delivering a wonderful blend of flavors and textures. Overall, while there were hits and misses, Gueros still has its standout dishes worth trying.

Cannot beat Guerros for a cool South Congress bar and cantina. Greg the bar manager has been there 30 years and still kicking! Went there during SXSW for beers and live music in the beer garden. Best Austin atmosphere and experience! Great Tex Mex food, too.

Mexican food for Amish people. If youve never had Mexican food before MAYBE you would think this place was good. Worst plate of food Ive gotten in the 5 years Ive lived in Austin. The margaritas were wattered down and the food was terrible. Stay away from this place.

Very eclectic and Austin flair mexican restaurant. Love their salsa bar and every item that Ive tried on their menu and option to eat outside. This place is always busy so make it an experience! Parking: It is located in downtown Austin, so, yes, parking can be a little bit of an issue. Its worth the struggle for Guerros.

Walked a mile to eat here only to walk in and ask for a table outside for 2 and 1 dog. The host looked at the waitress and she nodded her head. He then told me that they are sitting anyone outside since they close in 30 mins. I walked back to my car and when I drop passed, they had sat another table of 4 there 15 minutes after. I was shocked. Not sure if they just decide who they want to serve and who they don t want to serve. Very bad impression.

A one of a kind Austin establishment, their fresh Mexican food and salsa bar can t be beat! So many choices, you can t go wrong, especially with a big group; interior Mexican or tex-Mex, vegan or gluten free, healthy or greasy and cheesy! And don t forget the best, strongest margaritas in town! I can t go and not get their tacos Al pastor, queso, and orange chicken. The garden and live music are also a great hangout spot, I always take out-of-town guests here!

Gueros is a tried-and-true Austin institution. As much as things have changed on SoCo over the last few years, Gueros keeps the spirit of Old Austin alive. I love the queso, the chicken al carbon enchiladas, and a frozen house margarita to wash it all down. I also love having a drink and catching a live band in their garden!

Their dedication to exceptional service and mouthwatering cuisine is simply unmatched in the city. The owners, spanning generations, are not just hosts but cherished members of Austin.

Growing up in Austin, this is where I always take my out of town visitors. This is an Austin staple and one of the few Austin legends still left. I have met the owners multiple times when I come in and they were fabulous. Going to consider this spot for a rehearsal dinner. Amazing venue spot.

Worst experience in Austin. The owner is a horrible person and openly discriminates against anyone who does adhere to her opinions. It s unfortunate that a business in South Austin can get away with being discriminatory and breaking the law. Please do NOT support this business. Paying people under the table, without paying taxes should be grounds for closing the door on any business. They having been getting away with for years.

didn t like the food but service and atmosphere were good. after we ate we asked if they made the tortilla chips themselves since they tasted like they were out of the bag and they said they buy them somewhere else. there are plenty of other mexican restaurants that make their own tortillas & chips that i would recommend over this place at the same price point- with tip for 2 people it was $51.
