Atmosphere was good, service was fair but we were kinda neglected. We had to call the waiter over multiple times despite being 1 of 4 active tables. I ordered a small menudo and my friend ordered lengua tacos, the menudo basically tasted like spicy water. No flavor at all really and the tripe was too tender. The rice and beans that came with my friends plate were also incredibly bland. The lengua tacos were fine though. Over all the food needs some serious attention, the place is nice and it seems like a mom and pop shop so I encourage the owner to consider paying more attention to how the food is prepared and how it tastes!

Did the ownership change or something? Ive been going here for almost a decade. It used to be great. Tonight they served me raw meat in the enchiladas. Another review said it might be canned corned beef hash but it looked raw to me. They have also raised prices an insane amount. I doubt they will be open much longer.

First and last visit, large bill for small portions. I love picadillo but this tasted and looked exactly like canned corned beef hash. Im not a fan of raw corned beef hash, couldnt stomach it and NO REFUNDS! If they want to enforce an upcharge for a refill on chips then the first basket shouldnt be half full for 2 people! Your also charged for a drink refill and to use your debit card to pay your bill! What is going on? I understand times are hard but this is not the way.

I ve been coming here for 10 plus years and sad to say it s gotten terrible over time. Complete rip off. Food was way over priced for what we were served. They charged us $15+tax per plate and it was very obvious EVERYTHING was microwaved. Not only was everything microwaved none of it had any flavor WHATSOEVER. Do not waste your money on chekos, it s just not what it used to be back in the day. Guaranteed all of these 5 star reviews are 100% fake.

oh how sweet and loving this experience! kindness from the servers, love in the air and fun palpable in the decor. bistec yum yum. margarita very good! i did not eat the beans because there is hot dog and i dont eat pork because god said not to. sit down and have a date here if you know whats good for you.

I used to live down the street a decade ago. Really loved this place... like once a week loved. My mom wanted to go while I was up north, and I was excited to go. Used to be a solid meal at a good price, friendly service, and cheap XX. Blah. Just, blah. Everything was cooked right but annoyingly bland (I had her leftovers). Salsa had no kick, chewy bag chips. The server could not care less, and it showed. (Earbud helped) Place clean and tidy, looked good overall. The food industry has been really hard, and little things can build over time to make that environment. Makes me sad because they are prepped for success with that complex coming in. It was a miss this time, but Id be bummed to see them fold. Get your head in the game and stay steady. Youre almost there. Parking: Additional parking behind the building.

The worst food Ive ever had. I was so hungry walking into the place. Queso looked like putty it was so thick. The picadillo inside my enchiladas had a metallic taste and looked more like sauce then meat. Then they poured a quart of sauce over the enchiladas so that the flour tortillas were just like a wet diaper. I pushed the food forward. No one ever asked how it was. Seems like they are used to people not liking the food. The lady at the counter asked how ot was i said i didnt like the enchiladas that they tasted funny and there wasnt any meat in the enchiladas. Texas mex enchiladas tasted like a dirty sink. I feel sick and im still hungry and out 30$.

Family owned business. Excellent customer service. The owners are hands on; friendly and welcoming. Most importantly, the food is excellent and the prices are reasonable. The atmosphere and the decor is very basic; definitely gave me the vibe of the traditional restaurants I visited in my multiple visits to Mexico. Overall, I love the place.

Small, family run restaurant that is simple and satisfying. MENUDO AVAILABLE EVERYDAY! If you indulge, you know thats traditionally only on the weekends at most joints. Great for margarita breaks if one is doing laundry next door at the Woodrow Washateria. Dietary restrictions: Not a lot of options. Small kitchen doing it like your abuelas house. Parking: A few spots in front w/larger lot accessible by driving around back or enter via Woodrow.

I almost hate to publicly post this review. Our family used to love Chekos! I love that its local. I love that its family owned. But, heres the deal. Theyve raised their prices but also lowered their quality. The service is mediocre and they do things like up charge for not using cash without notification, and always seem to just keep hitting buttons on the cash register when they check you out without really posting prices clearly. Tonight we paid almost 100 bucks for two kids meals, two soups and two margaritas. Its not super fancy, its a familiar neighborhood quick meal that usually hits the spot without crushing the wallet. At least, it used to be.

Go somewhere else. I spent $50 for two plates. No drinks. No apps. The mole was decent. Kind of dry but overall flavor was ok. Big portion. $16 for that but a $3 upcharbe for charro beans that tasted like mustard or something weird fell in them. I really have a problem with the chicken enchiladas being the same price as mole. They looked old like they had been sitting out for some time. The refried beans tasted like ground beef grease and were extremely salty with the same consistency as soup. Got all over the rice and enchilada so everything tasted like that. got 3 tiny enchilada covered in a bland red sauce and no cheese on top for some reason. Hardly any filling inside. I honestly would have been happier going to Taco Bell. I hate to bash a mom and pop place and I really wanted to like it but the price is outrageous for the quality, service, and atmosphere

Above and beyond service. Torta is to die for. Serves chips with two different salsas. As good as it gets. Vegetarian options: About 6 different veggie items on the menu. Parking: Parking would be around the back of the wash room, but there is usually enough space out front.

Let me tell you this place is amazing their pastor and barbacoa tacos are AMAZING!! Im so disappointed, we have ordered from here before and it was really tasty and this time it was not good at all. They gave me the wrong food (a regular burrito instead of the fajita burrito). The burrito they did give me had no flavor and was mostly beans and hot lettuce. I dont think we will be ordering from here again
