I was hesitant going to a specialty store because I knew I would spend more. I might have saved a couple of hundred ordering online but working with Precision Camera was a wonderful experience. Ian was generous with his time and extremely professional. I will only go to Precision Camera for my photography needs.

Would suggest going to Holland or Austin Camera for any of your needs. Dont understand how an employee of the business would leave their coworker alone when people are waiting to be helped. Respect to the dude holding it down behind the counter. But their counterparts inaction solidified that Im better off elsewhere.

For this being the main camera store in the area, It s alright I guess. My main problem is the lack of vintage equipment and extreme price margins. They realize the monopoly they have in the area and definitely take advantage of it. A plain, quality UV filter only used to protect your lens from Amazon for any size lense is at max like $20. Same generic filter here would be 45 plus tax. Service is great but definitely do extensive research yourself because all of the employees only have basic knowledge when it comes to the products you re buying. Don t expect them to fully explain all the features and specs of your purchase cause they will not know or form something from context clues. If you re looking for a camera/lens, I highly suggest looking into mpb. I m not sure how precision evaluates the conditions of their products but when looking at price and consulting with their employees, I can definitely tell you that I do not trust their judgement on used product condition or pricing. They are also extremely limited from what I ve seen at the 2 locations I ve been to.

I dont understand why they have different prices from one location to another. I went to the SPM location to buy a $4k canon camera and it was $800 more expensive vs their Anderson location. I asked why and the guy goes, I dont know. I ended up buying the camera from B&H.

I drove in from San Antonio to sell some gear, the guys pawned me off to the northern location 30 minutes away. I arrived to the northern location and they aren t buying anything today 4-5 hours wasted. The staff gave off a real lackadaisical vibe, it might be because of the holidays, but nobody seemed to care. I wasted a lot of time.

Kudos to Omar (at the Southpark Meadows location) for his camera knowledge, helpfulness and willingness to listen. He patiently explained features and allowed us to do a hands-on comparison of at least four different camera models / manufacturers. He was genuinely interested in helping us choose the best model for our intended use -- not just making a quick sale or steering us towards the highest-priced camera. I started at the North location and had a next to terrible experience. I presented my camera with 3 problems to the repair team. The man helping me looked at my camera for 10-15 minutes and came back with we can t help you and sent me on my way but only addressed one of the problems. I came to the South store to get a second opinion and was blown away by the customer service and willingness to help. I presented my camera to a gentleman and told him my experience at the North store. He immediately went to someone he said was most experienced and got his opinion. My camera was passed around and tested several times including switching lenses, switching bodies, etc and came back with potential solutions. I appreciate a conversation even if I can t be directly helped more than someone who won t speak to me if they can t help. I was also saying that I needed a lens adapter for my other body and I was given multiple options on where and how to get it. The customer service at the South store is phenomenal and will 100% be choosing this location if I need anything further. Thank you guys!

I went to Precision to look for a new camera. I have been away from photography since the film days, so I dont know much about current tech. Giannina greeted me as soon as I walked in the door. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. She took the time to show me different brands and helped me hone in on what was the best fit for me. I went in with a buddy to look at some equipment and he had some questions. Omar Fagerberg took the time to patiently explain different cameras with different features to him. He went above and beyond by showing him the difference between lenses, cameras and features. He almost spent a whole hour with him. OMG!!! Please come here and ask for Mark or Omar. They are freaking rock stars!!! I went to the North Austin Precision Camera location, and no one really bothered to help me. In fact, some people were downright rude about my questions and concerns. I just figured I would give up my search. But, as a last ditch effort, I called this South Park Meadows Precision Camera location, and Omar was so kind and knowledgeable! They answered all my vague and random printer questions, and I was able to walk out in confidence that I bought the right machine for the job. 10/10 would recommend and Ill be back!

Let me start by saying the staff is absolutely lovely, and I dont think my experience was their fault. I ordered a camera online and selected the option to have it delivered to the Southpark Meadows location for pickup. Placed the order, got an email letting me know I could pick it up the next business day after 1PM. Awesome. Yesterday evening I head over there...no camera. The staff checked a few places, then called up to the North location to make sure the camera had been sent down here. Im not sure of exactly what was said in that conversation, but they ended up giving me a different camera (same model and everything, just not the same exact camera that had been sent from up North), which was fine, although quite a long process. Again, staff was SUPER helpful. So fine, I go home. Theres a note on the door that someone from Precision attempted to deliver the camera to my house. So that solved the mystery of where the original camera went. Later on I open the box and its definitely been handled. Im...reasonably sure all of the components that are supposed be in the box are there, but there were several empty baggies and (possibly) and extra cable, which makes me nervous. Now about 15 minutes ago theres a knock on my door and guess who it is? Someone from Precision trying to deliver the camera! I cannot stop laughing, it feels like Im stuck in a play. Its funny, but there are obviously some pretty serious issues with their order fulfillment process. I was planning on signing up for a class with them later this month, but after this I really hesitate to do business with them again, despite all the positive reviews. TL;DR -- Super friendly and helpful staff, but dont order online for pickup.

Let me begin with, I live in Wimberley and the South store is an hour and a half round trip. I decided to take the plunge and get the Z6 11. My first trip to the store I was on my way back to Wimberley from Austin and thought I stop in and take a look. They did have them in stock and I asked how much I could get in trade in for my Nikon 750. I was told $528 dollars. So, I drove to Wimberley and came back to the store. There was a different guy behind the counter and he said I could only get $400. By now Im all in an go for it. None of my existing lens would work on the camera. An adapter is needed, $250 dollars. The Z camera takes to cards. One is an odd ball but my reader at home will read 4 different cards so I was pretty sure I was covered there but the store only carries one odd ball card, $250 dollars. Now were up to about 3 grand an the salesman tells me the camera wont work until I download the upgrade from the computer. That really ticked me off. Thats like buying a new car an the guy saying its out there on the lot you just need to go get gas for it. One would think the salesperson would say the camera wont work without a download, give me a minute and Ill do that for you. Instead I was told go to You Tube for the instructions. Whatever, I drive back to Wimberley only to find that the off ball card doesnt fit my card reader. Drive back to the store to buy a card reader, $80 dollars. Drive back to Wimberley and try to follow the instructions from You Tube and nothing is working. Did I mention I had a photo shot that night. I guess thats on me, I shouldnt have gotten a new camera the night of. Just figured its a camera, you turn it on an take pictures. I drove back to the store the next morning to get my camera back and now the salesman had enough time to do the download an get the camera working. It took him maybe all of 5 minutes. The place is clean, the people are friendly but I feel like some policies need to be corrected

Do not go here! There are better camera places in South Austin. I recommend Holland Photo near South Lamar. Developing times for Film takes over two weeks, they are ridiculously slow. I recommend going to Holland photo and they will develop it in three days tops. Also the staff is not experienced at all and don t know much about cameras. I brought in my film camera and they did not know how to load the film or use the camera. It was a perfectly operating camera and they told me that I should return it because it was broken and that was not the case. In fact they tried to sell me on cheap disposable cameras instead of actually trying to help me load the film in the camera. In regards to printing, there are also ridiculously slow. I would recommend going to any other photo place for a faster service.

Called the other day looking for a Sony zv-e10 and learned the reason they were on back order. Sales rep knew exactly what she was talking about and didnt hesitate to have a slightly longer conversation with a severe case of ADHD/OCD. I have been in the market for a few months. To purchase a camera or cam corder. I am not a photographer. I am a Professional Speaker / business coach. So I needed help to pick the correct equipment. About a month ago I went to the Burnet location. Robert helped me. I don t want to get into the details. I felt like he was distracted and was more interested in other customers. Since I was not sure of what I wanted I suppose. So I left. Did my home work and picked a camera. Decided I wanted to give Precision another try. So I went to the William Cannon location. The second I walked in I was greeted and was way!! More comfortable. I worked with Omar. Super helpful and never pushed me in any direction with products. I asked if the camera was in stock and then discussed tri pods and wireless mic. I ended up purchasing the canon XA 40 / Sirus tripod / saramonic UwMic9 / 2 memory cards Couldn t be more pleased. All my future purchases will be at the store where Omar is. The other associate was super nice as well not sure his name. Precision Management/ Owner - I am a business owner now for 15 years. I would get Omar in your management training program tomorrow. Note to all sales staff. When working with a customer even if commission is the goal. That customer should have your full undivided attention. As if you were going to spend a million dollars.

Friendly staff, but this store isn t ready for customers quite yet. If you re not looking for bodies and lenses, go to the north location. They have camera bags, some bodies, quite a few lenses, but virtually no studio equipment, lighting, video accessories, backdrop gear etc. Hoping this store more closely reflects the north location fast.

Great seminar on Fuji cameras. Store itself is kind of small and short of equipment.
