The shop on its own offers a great selection of film and vintage cameras. We had an unfortunate run in with an unpleasant employee that soured our outlook of an otherwise great establishment. We were looking for some help in picking film that best suited our photography goals and instead of explaining the pros/cons of each type of film we were told that it was too difficult to explain that many different kinds of films. Not sure if we caught the guy on a bad day but I don t think we ll be returning as unfortunate as that is.

Just discovered this store last week and was very impressed with the selection of vintage cameras for sell. I got a Barbie themed Polaroid 600! The employees were also pretty chill and weren t super into sales like Precision Camera so it s a little more relaxed here. They also develop film, I would recommend checking this place out!

Helpful staff & great overall selection - especially for film. I ve had several rolls of film developed here and it s been very convenient. Being emailed the photos via dropbox is great. I also paid to develop a roll of film that ended up being blank due to a shutter issue once & they fully refunded me in store credit which I thought was very fair. Below are some photos I ve had developed here for reference

I never leave reviews but i was extremely disappointed with my service today, and want to say why you should instead take your business to Precision Camera or Holland if youre a film photographer. This is long, so I added a TLDR at the bottom. I recently finished a trip and had 9 rolls to develop, so I took 5 to Precision camera and 4 to Austin camera. 1 roll from each batch didnt take and was blank. Precision camera offered to fully refund me for the scanning costs of that one roll with no problem (what Ive encountered at every photolab that Ive ever been to - pretty standard practice). When I asked the person working at Austin camera if theres any way that they could refund the scanning costs, the person working seemed really upset that they had to deal with a customer and told me they dont do refunds but I could get a partial credit to spend at their store. Considering I never received the service that I paid for, I feel like its kind of insane to hold my money like that. Imagine if you ordered a camera from them, it never came, and instead of giving you your money back they said that you had to instead buy a different camera from them (and pay for any price difference). PLUS, the credit they gave me didnt include tax, so it couldnt even cover the price of the service I was supposed to get in the first place. I was pretty surprised that a smaller store like Austin camera was not only extremely unhelpful, but pretty standoffish at the same time. I wasnt upset when I came in or anything, and I politely asked if they offered refunds and the person working there acted like I couldnt have been dumber for asking. Like I get it, sometimes customers suck and especially in retail it can be alot, but Im just trying to get my money back for a service I never received. Additionally, the quality of the scans coming from Austin camera were much worse. I dont know if they scan them in-house or use someone else, but many of the shots I got back were not centered on the frame at all - theyd have the edges from 2 frames in one scan (Pic of one example included in this review), so Ill have to get that roll re-scanned anyways. Pretty unusable. I didnt even bring that up when I went, because if they refuse to refund me for a service they didnt do at all, I imagine theyd absolutely refuse to do anything about a service they did poorly. Before this incident, I had taken probably 40 rolls of film to Precision camera without any incident at all as far as the scans go. TLDR: In my experience, Austin Camera is worse (both in customer service, as well as scan quality) than Precision Camera. They refused to refund me for a service I never received from them, and some of the scans that I DID receive were pretty poorly aligned as well. I hate to say this because I really do want to like a small business like Austin Camera, but they were just worse in every possible way.

I came in looking to spend $1000-2000 on a Rollieflex. The gal behind the counter was very clear I was an annoyance to her asking to handle the cameras. I asked her if she would show me the functions of a Rolleiflex they had in stock and she scoffed at me and said no. Im a professional photographer with nearly a decade of film photo experience. I deserve to be treated with respect. This camera is rare and I needed to learn about it before committing. Thats a normal thing on a $1000 puchase. This store lost a big sale because of poor customer service. I wont be coming back.

I heard about this store from precision camera since I have an old camera. I went in for the first time today and was amazed at all of the products to buy and look at. Very well organized. My personal experience was not the best. The person that I let go ahead of me was greeted and helped right away, however I was left standing in line at the counter for several minutes with any of the 3 employees asking if I needed help. At one point the first employee walked right in front of me without acknowledging me still or letting me know they d be right with me. Then another customer walks in, walks right in front of me and then is immediately helped from a different employee. I wanted to make it my new spot for film and accessories but I don t feel like I ll be going back or recommending their customer service.

came here for the first time last week to drop off two rolls of film. when i came to pick up my prints they only gave me negatives. the employee told me that i only paid for negatives so there were no prints. i reviewed the form i filled out and saw that i had checked both scans and prints but it was crossed out, obviously not by me. when i asked the employee why it was crossed out, they told me, i don t know, i wasn t the one who checked you out although they were the same person that had checked me out last week. i understand making mistakes but they were rude for no reason, took zero accountability, and made me feel like i was at fault. just an all around really horrible experience for being my first time getting film developed.

This is my local film shop. I do film and only film so I dont need much. ACI carries the essentials for me. I like supporting smaller local shops. Their developing and scanning is top notch. I knocked off a star because I purchased a camera from them that didnt function perfectly the first time. They took it in and fixed it. I knocked another star off because one day as I was dropping film off, another customer came in and mentioned their camera, also bought here, wasnt entirely functional. Seems a bit suspicious, but they fixed mine and I assume fixed theirs as well. Still, buying used always comes with risks, and ACI understands that with their warranties. Come here to get your film developed or scanned or both.

I came here after discovering they were the only repair shop to work on Mamiya RB67s in my area. I was experiencing some light leaks on my negatives that I hadn t seen before. I figured the light seals needed to be replaced so I took it in to get looked at. I was told my camera was in perfect working condition and was sent on my way. Lo and behold I shoot a roll, develop and scan and there are light leaks just as before. I take it to the shop, show them the negatives and again told they will take a look at it. 2nd time I get the same answer, my camera is in perfect working condition. They even gave me instructions on how to operate the camera as if I didn t know how to operate my own camera. Obviously it there s a problem when I knew there was a clear point in time when light leaks were occurring on my negatives. Suffice to say I took it to another shop in my hometown and easily fixed first time around. My first suspicions were correct and such a common issue and a rather easy fix that they were not competent enough to accomplish.

Really great staff. Very fair prices. Only had one issue with the 100+ rolls Ive sent there (and they were quick to correct it). If they arent 110% sure they can handle something, they will collaborate with other labs to make sure your stuff gets handled appropriately. Everyone is kind, very talkative, and really in love with photography. Also they still require masks in doors which is rad given the surge of covid cases in Texas. They are the only lab still doing this and I really appreciate it.

As a bonus they charge you a $35 fee for the privilege of their service whatever that may be. Can also confirm as another reviewer said you will get accosted by the employees as you walk in if you aren t wearing a mask. The place is poorly kept, but I usually dont care about the image (in this case, the odor) of a business. I reserve judgement for the service. The people here should realize theyre a service-based business. I visited twice, and both times a young lady reluctantly got up from her pressing computer work to help me out, the nuisance of a customer that I was, after 5 minutes of my awkward straining over the counter, trying to see the lenses and bodies they had available for sale. She clearly got annoyed after I asked her to pull two lenses from the counter so I could see what models they were. She told me that all of their lenses were updated online and to look at them before asking for any more. I took her advice and researched them over the next couple of days. I returned asked for two lenses by name, according to the current listing online, and she let me know they didnt have them. In short, this place couldnt care less about me as a beginner, and they let me know it. So I went and spent $1000 at Precision and will continue my business there as I grow in the field. This place will go out of business when their current customer base dies off of old age in the next few years.

Ive gone in for a number of services the past week, and just recently they helped me tremendously with my wedding prints. I was unsatisfied (and frankly unknowledgable) with my 300+ prints as they were not of the quality I was hoping for. They took the time to print out test photos, even edit all of them slightly to get them to my liking. We finally figured out the solution and I left happy with beautiful prints and more knowledge about the printing process. Earlier in the week they also gave me the best quote for my used equipment than any other store in town. Thank you so much, Austin Camera and Imaging, keep doing what youre doing!

Took my boss here because I got a camera here last year and because I love supporting small businesses. My boss spent almost $1000. She s from Atlanta and was just visiting Austin but loves photography and vintage things, she wanted me to surprise her with a place that she couldn t exactly find in Atlanta, and to me this place is one of a kind. The customer service was great as usual and they were informative and knowledgeable. Great place to get quality vintage cameras and more!

Nice little local camera store. Not a huge range of equipment yet, but growing. The staff seem to be photographers, and they can develop&scan your film here too, which is a great plus.

Worst place to buy used camera equipment! Travelled an hour to check the place for used lens but staff are not knowledgeable about their inventory. I was looking for a used 50mm 1.8d lens when I visited. The girl who helped me said that they dont have the lens after about 10 seconds of looking at their used lens shelves when it was literally right in front of her! The USED lens cost $120 while it sells NEW for $119 in amazon!

I have had several prints made here and am very pleased with the quality and processing time. The staff is very friendly, as well. I will definitely keep returning here for prints because of the quality (especially after having a not so great experience at a different local photo lab).

They absolutely nailed what I was going for! They did a complete photo restoration and canvas print as a present for my mother and I was blown away by the results! All the staff were fast, professional, and reasonably priced. Very pleased with this decision and would definitely use them again! This makes a great gift idea!

I have used this company for several important developments of good old fashion film. Recently, I found some slides from the early 50s and they turn them into digital images for less than $15. Their professional and their turnaround time is quick.

Im from out of town and left my tripod at home, they were soo very helpful in hooking me right up! He knew exactly what I needed, and in my budget too. I think his name was Matt? Im so bad with names. He was wearing a jean jacket. Anyways, I highly recommend this place and will definitely come back next time Im in town!
