Went with a friend who loves the place. It was my first time going. We went during Happy Hour, and I had a mojito. I love that they have a great selection of unusual items on their menu. They have a wide selection of all kinds of liquor, top shelf of all varieties, beer on tap, espresso martini on tap, and a few different mezcals. Their prices are very reasonable for the quality of their drinks and food. We ordered 2 lbs of mild buffalo wings, and they came with one side of the ranch and one side of Bleu cheese. The wings were really good, super crispy, and not too spicy. The atmosphere is definitely a dive bar/neighborhood biker bar, but the quality of food and drinks and good prices will surprise you. Took one point off for service because when my friend ordered drinks, they were just left sitting at the bar, instead of brought to our table and we werent notified but just happened to notice them sitting on the bar. Dont expect 5 star wait service at such a place, but if were grabbing our own drinks, maybe a heads up or yell across the bar when theyre ready, lol. As far as I can tell, there is no designated parking. We parked on the street, but I wasnt driving. Id definitely go back.

Very awesome dive bar feel. Was full upon arrival, without being packed shoulder to shoulder. Despite that, the bartenders were quick and we didnt wait long. We got the g&tea, strega sour, and a deeper in G&tea: a fine gin and tonic. The orange and peach are light, but my gal commented there was no tea. My guess is the orange and peach are fruit teas with no tea leaf. Strega sour: perfect. Tangy and smooth. Deeper in: as a lover of unique drinks, and even though I finished it, this is not a drink I can recommend. A confusing medley of flavor that is acidic, Fruity, sweet, and then a large burst of off mint flavor. This drink is an identity crisis. I thought the taste would improve as the drink settled and melted, but water only brought out the acidic mint. Still a great place with lots of drink specials and Tiki options.

This has been one of my favorite bars in Austin since they first opened and it has only grown in popularity since then. The frozen Irish coffee is as good as youve been led to believe and the atmosphere is peak dive bar but with an impressive selection of spirits and a cocktail menu with some serious thought that went into it. Ive yet to try the food at Delray but Ive heard really good things. Ill update the review if the food merits its own mention!

While traveling through Austin, local resident recommended stopping at Nickel City bar. Turned out to be a fun stop as the atmosphere took me back to the days of what a bar look like when I was a kid, yet the cocktails that were crafted by the mixologists were very much a reflection of todays finer experiences.

A difficult review because we have been here before and had a brilliant time and loved the food, drinks and service. Unfortunately tonight this was not the case. My partner is hard of hearing and wears hearing aids, so loud environments such as bars can be tricky for his hearing. When ordering at the bar the bartender took offense that he felt my partner had raised his voice. He told us as such, asked him not to shout and moved on to serve someone else. I entirely appreciate these nuances can get lost when working in a loud and choatic environment and after he served the other customer my partner apologised to him and tried to explain that no offense was meant. The bartender suggested we all move on which we really appreciated, and I attempted to explain that he wore hearing aids and that is where the confusion had come from, but the bartender cut me off and said if I wanted to keep talking about it he wouldnt serve us at all. At this point I felt that there was no willingness to accommodate my partners disability and there wasnt any scope for tolerance so we left. Its such a shame because we previously loved going there, but I cant accept giving patron to a business that discriminates in such a manner. I appreciate its hard to get inclusivity always right, but this was just uncompromisingly wrong.

A fun, local neighborhood bar with a consistently good cocktail menu and food truck. In Q4, the bar transforms, first in October into Mo s Tavern and then into a winter wonderland in December. Mo s pays homage to the Simpsons, the bar dresses up the food and drink menu (hello, Duff), complete with bar staff dressed in character. These months can be quite busy, sometimes with a line. I d recco going early in the week if you want to skip the line and have a bit more space. Outside of getting dressed up, the bar specializes in a variety of food centric evenings such as $.99 wing night, bogo burgers, tacos & tequila, monthly Steak Frites night, & more. I recently was finally in town for steak frites night ($19 for a steak, crinkle fries & old fashion or boiler maker). I was pleasantly met with the price tag as well as a standard plate (forget the plastic basket) and perfectly crisp steak fries paired with a medium rare steak. The steak was cooked well and tasty. The burgers are a bit larger than your average slider and great with or without the BOGO offering. Despite not having a featured day of the week or month, a few of my favorite menu items are: The pizza log - It is what it sounds like, cheese and pepperoni stuffed into a wonton and deep fried, & pair with ranch. Voila, chef s kiss. The pizza negroni - it s a negroni with a pepperoni and mozzarella garnish. Yum - Fun to try one and then swap to plain negronis. Dirty martini - The bartenders are experienced professionals, shaking up a delicious martini everytime, from a twist to extra dirty. The martini comes with a small side car as well. Dogs allowed inside and on patio!

For how busy the place was during the holidays the bartenders were all true professionals. Always keen to serve all customers, def not like some other places in Austin. She forgot to charge me for an extra drink and I told her about it and handed her my card. Instead of taking it she said it was on her tab. I ended up tipping them extra for that level of customer service. Just for that Im definitely coming back for the drinks and the vibe! The wings were good but the food truck simply cant keep up with all the orders, so be patient if your food shows up 30 minutes late. All in all a fun holiday bar to visit

I went to Nickle City for the first time this past weekend for Sippin Santa and loved it!! Awesome drinks, such a fun theme, and great service from all the staff. Special shoutout to Joey for being the best bartender for us that night and tolerating my shenanigans! I had the Ginger Snapper shot which was so tasty (and strong), but my best decision of the night was purchasing the tiki reindeer shot glass. SO CUTE! Food from the food truck in site was also yummy and much needed, and I loved being able to order food inside at the bar and having them bring it to you. Overall, I would absolutely recommend Nickel City to anyone looking for an elevated divey vibe with super reasonable prices! I m excited to return here during the non-holiday season to check out their huge whiskey selection and other drinks!

But if you are going here on Monday night for wings or other fried food, I don t recommend it. Wings that I had on Monday was super salty and couldn t taste the seasoning that I ordered. And the menu said $0.75 for ranch and blue cheese on the side but the bill came out as $1.70 per sauce. And cheese curds were almost burnt. I will still go back and try food again in the future but if they can fix this problem on busy days, it will be more pleasant to go here. The drinks were still really nice on Monday night!

Drinks are good, service left a bad impression. It was a busy Saturday night, so I take that into consideration. But when my boyfriend asked for a suggestion between the mezcal or bourbon mixed drinks the bartender just pointed at the menu, after we had already read the menu in front of him. Very rude! As a bartender, hospitality is quite literally your job and the least you can do is give a few suggestions that you like or might be popular at your establishment. The Carrot Colada was very unique. Will have to give this place another try on a less busy night, when there is a different bartender or he s in a better mood.

This spot is super close to my apartment so I seem to end up there a lot, with friends especially. I absolutely love the wings. The food is amazing, no denying that but the service come on. The bartenders are pretty rude every time I go. Several people have mentioned the same experiences to me about that. The person checking IDs was playing a switch and barely made eye contact. I get the chill dive bar Austin vibe but I kinda hate how the cool spots in Austin seem to all have pretty flat service & employees. Could be a really fun spot if that aspect was different for me.

Phenomenal Whiskey selection, good vibe, service and food. Very festive for Christmas and becomes Moes Tavern for Halloween.

My favorite spot in atx. The vibes here are thing of their own: the drinks, service, food, it s all great. The sliders are awesome, and the $19 steak is a deal. And, the Simpons pop up, very nice!

I had the wings, nashville hot, from the food truck. They were good $12.99/pound. Ive been here for Bills games and had the bucket of La Blatt beer. Good time had by all. Food

Great dive bar on the east side. Great management, great bartenders, great food! There s a small patio outside accompanied by a food truck. It gets pretty busy so be patient! $3.50 for some draft beers and you cannot go wrong with their frozen coffee drink ($1 off if temperature is over 100 F)!

What a great place Ive been missing out on! Fabulous liquor selection with a TON of bourbon. My happy place! Stopped in on Fathers Day, and it was busy! Talked to the bartender, and he said it was because of the holiday. Im going back during the week to check out the non-holiday feel.

Nickel City is the perfect blend of craft cocktails, dive bar, and neighborhood haunt. Good food, cheap beer, great drinks, fantastic people. Homer, Norm, and Young Flanagan would all feel equally at home here - you will, too.

Best bar in Austin. Genuine local pub, great staff, and incredible food (Id recommend the cheese curds and sliders, or loose burger). Chilled outdoor patio area where youre bound to make a friend every time you go. If you like genuine pubs with relaxed people, Nickel City is definitely worth checking out.

The bartenders are so kind and fun to chat with. The drinks are delicious and strong. The food is so delicious too! This is a bar for down to earth people. Will be missing this place when we go back home. Get the frozen Irish coffee!!
