Dont bother. The only reason I ate here is because it was in the hotel. Got most of the way thru my chicken breast to discover it was under cooked. Tried to bring it up with the server, but she had too many other things going on to want to care.

Update - we returned after several months and the improvement here has been incredible. Kathleen, our waitress was attentive, friendly, and joyful to talk with. we had our customary Caesar salad, which were delivered about five minutes after our wine delivery, which was about five minutes as well. The salads were wonderful. The wine was delicious. The atmosphere was just right. My wife enjoyed it very much. Thank you, Kathleen. For a wonderful time. 2 Stars - We had the Caesar Salads. One with beef, one with chicken. The salads were great. But it took 30 minutes for them to arrive at our table when there were exactly 12 people in entirety in the restaurant. Most had been served before us. I blame this on the kitchen. The waitress was adequate, but the meats on the salad were cold. Maybe they sat too long? I don t know. Given that the waitress was serving our party of two and one other of the same, she wasn t THAT busy. Can t recommend. The Renaissance Hotel is cavernous and an architectural beauty on the inside. They can certainly do better with their restaurant.

My family and I have been coming here for years now and each time we enjoy our stay and the food here. We had the Mothers Day buffet and the food was absolutely delicious! Also the brisket nachos are the absolute best! Kathleen is always a joy and her service is top notch! We look forward to staying at this hotel again and enjoying another meal (and drinks ) at this restaurant. I almost forgot to mention the view on the deck is gorgeous and serene, especially on a cool spring day .

I was there this morning around 9:30am to order breakfast to-go, waited at the Bar for more than 5 minutes, but nobody came over to take my order. It wasnt a super busy time, but clearly this place is under staffed, so prepare for a long wait if you go there at peak time

The food was terrible. The fries tasted like they had been sitting out all day(or maybe even from the day prior) and the chicken tenders were identified by my husband as the identical ones that are sold frozen from HEB. We ordered broccolini that came out raw. They took that off the bill but that didn t make up for the totally disappointing rest of the meal. What a waste of money! The atmosphere was nice and our server was friendly

Waitstaff was wonderful! Go there 5-6 times a year during non peak times. Yesterday the food and drinks were so disappointing. Brisket nachos are typically delicious. This time we got stringy burnt tasteless scraps. It was awful. Not sure the gin and tonics had ANY gin. Table was sticky and this was a 4pm...yikes.

decent hotel restaurant. food was ok but service was lacking. The only reason we came was the Titanium breakfast voucher. The voucher only covers $26 per reservation so it doesn t come close covering breakfast for a party of four. The prices are what you d expect from a hotel restaurant so the voucher doesn t even cover two people. It s a little tacky that they add 20% service fee before taking off the voucher but I get it. I understand the voucher system is probably a property decision and not specifically the restaurant. The portions are large and the options we picked were hearty so you could share. The breakfast service was very slow even though the place was at 1/3rd capacity. I feel bad because the waitstaff is clearly understaffed. They barely have time to take orders, bring food and drop checks. Good luck with refills and extra condiments. Waitstaff are frazzled and rushed. We went two days in a row with the same experience both weekend days. We even had to wait to be seated the second day when they were less have half full. They said it was because the kitchen was backed up. The Texas theme is amusing if you re from out of state. It s probably a decent chill place to get drinks if you re there for a conference or event. I wouldn t go unless you re stuck in the hotel for a convention. Even then, order out or go out to experience better food and service. Parking: a large self park lot for the hotel but it s paid. Kid-friendliness: reasonably kid friendly. variety of food options to choose from.

My wife and I decided to get away from San Antonio to spend someplace quiet and relax poolside for a weekend. Having Knotty Deck and Bar at the Renaissance Hotel was convenient and great. Food was very good and a good sized menu. Our first meal took a while and the fries were cold. Asked for new fries and by the time we got them we were almost done with the meal. All other meals and services were great.

Not sure if this restaurant is understaffed or the waitress was new, but the service was HORRIBLE. My hubby and I ate here twice this weekend as this restaurant was located in the same hotel where we stayed for a marriage retreat. Both times it took forever to get our meals. However, the second visit was the worst. Our waitress Ruth lacked situational awareness and did not even realize we had not gotten our meal (a burger and fish Tacos) until after 45 minutes of us patiently waiting. Six tables got their meals before us and they were seated way after we were. We honestly think she forgot to put our order in, but instead of admitting the mistake, she blamed it on the kitchen. It took us talking to the manager to finally get our food. He was kind enough to not charge us for our meal which was very thoughtful of him, but the principle of us having to rush to eat our meal to make it back to the retreat was still an inconvenience. We hope this waitress is retrained so nobody has to experience such a frustrating experience.

Do not waste your money or your time. Unless: you would like to grab your own app plates and your own straws. Go here if you want to wait 30 minutes for your drink to arrive. And itll be AFTER your food arrives too. Be ready to be told its super packed when the dining room is half empty. Also make sure you fully intercept a human in order to get their attention because there is zero proactivity at this establishment. Be ready to be handed your check in the middle of your meal because they are so busy. But conveniently it is picked up within 5 minutes of you putting your method of payment on the check book. If you want McDonalds service for 10x the price, this is the best place to go. Enjoy.

I had read so many great things about the food and the service here, and since I am going to be moving on the side of town for both work and personal, I thought why not check it out. And besides, I do love breakfast and brunch and all things food. Especially eggs. I went here this weekend and had the eggs Benedict and it was cooked absolutely perfectly, the hollandaise sauce was perfectly seasoned and thickened and the eggs were cooked to perfection. ... The service, however was not so great, it was disappointing. I was barely acknowledged, my drink was empty most of the time and the only time which I was spoken to was when asking about my order, an attempt at upselling my order a few times (which I would have taken the suggestions if I were being taken care of properly) and if I wanted the food bill to be charged to my room or not. It was a pretty short, impersonal and cold transactional interaction. There was no hi how are you today, miss? Or... how was your food? How is your day? How are you enjoying this beautiful Sunday morning? No none of that. But besides all that, The atmosphere was really very nice and you could look below and see the travelers walk down the stairs and there was a big screen coffee area in the lobby and it was a nice ambiance about the place and the way it was set up. I really enjoyed the food, and overall it was decent, I just wished the service would have been a bit better, Im a pretty easy going and easy to please customer too. And if they would have been busy then, I would not have taken a star off at all, but there was only three tables in the whole restaurant. I will give it another chance but for now itll be a while before I visit because, lets face that you can have eggs benedict anywhere and you really go there for the experience in the service, right? Overall the experience was pretty good, although it could be better. I will definitely give it another try since it is in a great location and I like the atmosphere and the food especially was worth a second shot, maybe next time I will come when they are really busy, lol. ;)

I stayed at the Renaissance Hotel in Austin with my parents for the weekend, a beautiful hotel. We were looking forward to the members club but were told it was closed for the weekend, and we were offered a breakfast voucher at Knotty Deck & Bar. This morning, we decided to take our opportunity to grab a bite, reaching around 10:15 am. It s a seat yourself restaurant, so we decided on the high tops close to the bar. We ended up waiting around 10-15 minutes with no greeting, and all staff walking by us to serve others. I finally got up to ask if we were in the right place to be served to which then we got, Do you guys want coffee? We politely agreed, we didn t make a fuss about the wait, and just continued sitting and talking. Another 15-20 minutes passes when we ask the same woman whether someone would be taking our orders as we see this server going to take orders of the people who arrived after us. My mom went to speak with someone to see if there was an issue. The woman whom I had asked about being served began to bring the server, Dylan, over to us to finally take our order after almost 40 minutes of sitting there with minimal service or acknowledgement of us there. He begins to make his way over making full eye contact, only to do a 180° and go help the white couple that has been sitting for no less than 5 minutes. I bring up white couple as we were the only Indian family sitting there, and were being actively ignored as Dylan continued to run around helping everyone else as well as people who arrived much later than us, all white guests. My mom talked to the manager who went to talk to him about his lack of service, to which he finally came over and made the excuse that the pillar we were sat next to was probably the reason he hasn t seen us (he made eye contact with me multiple times). He complained he was the only server and has been doing this all alone with everyone flagging him down. While I understand how stressful being a server may be as I ve worked in a restaurant myself, it shows the lack of strong management and training at this establishment. The clear racism we felt was awful because we not once were rude or making it a big deal that we were waiting, but a quick greeting explaining that he is extremely busy and just needed a moment to get to us would have made a world of difference for our experience. Although a great hotel, we definitely won t be back to eat here.

Do not order food here, I gave this place 3 chances, with three different meals. The chief of who ever is doing the cooking has no idea what he/she is doing. The food is so flavorless and bland, they do not know how to make brisket. Just adding salt would make this food taste better. I had the knotty burger, the knotty brisket nachos, and the tortilla soup. The tortilla soup was the only thing that was decent, but tastes like something I can get in a jar. To top it all off each item is basically 20 Dollars each for flavorless food. Presentation wise, its great but if the taste cant match the looks why bother. The waiters/bartenders are really great and funny, definitely know how to treat their customers. Id only recommend this place if you wanna go get drinks and enjoy the sights off the balcony, or just to stay at the hotel. You are better off getting take out food wise.

I will say that I did have to modify the pasta order since there are not really any vegetarian options except one salad on the menu. I m used to this and can always find something so this was not a deal breaker for me, just giving you a heads up. I also got the mojito which was done wonderfully, unfortunately it seems to be a hard drink to get right since 9 out of 10 it doesn t taste right when I order one, but there s was great. If you go on a nice clear night definitely sit on the patio.

Food took over an hour for only 2/3 of our party to receive it. Steak was ordered medium well received rare another one medium-rare also rare. Seasonal pasta was more bland than frozen 2 minute reheat pasta. Salt shaker uses Sea Salt in a salt shaker made for table salt so it doesn t even come out properly and you have to open it up to even get your salt, same for the black pepper it uses coarse black pepper for a fine pepper shaker. If this restaurant is consistently this off for being half booked, I d say it relies too heavily on the business from the hotel to even warrant visiting. Coconut pudding was good though

Looking forward to a good burger, I opened Doordash to start my search. After a long search, I chose Knotty Deck & bar. I placed my order for pick up and headed to the restaurant. When I arrived, I was notified that they don t use Doordash any longer. Since I had already paid, I left home without my wallet. You would expect that any good business would accommodate a Customer for the inconvenience of having driven all the way to the restaurant. They had a lack of concern, even with the restaurant still listed on the Doordash app and absolutely no one in the restaurant. In different to me being a future customer, Knotty Deck and Bar, just dismissed me and told me to contact Doordash. It s like pretty woman BiG MISTAKE, I went to the Cheesecake Factory a block away and had a much better meal.

I have stayed in Marriott properties for over 75 days already this year and this is by far my worst experience with one of their in-house restaurants. Just tried to eat breakfast here after staying the night at the hotel. The restaurant was half full. The Hostess placed me on a wait list for a party of 1 with a wait time of 5 to 10 minutes. I was 1 of 2 parties on the list. I sat no more then 20 feet away in a empty lobby while waiting for a table. After 30 minutes I approached her and she responded she had skipped over me because she hadn t seen me. I was then seated at a table that was covered in sticky syrup/jam and asked to have it wiped. She agreed and wandered away and proceeded to wipe down a different table and seat another guest. No one came to wipe off my table or get my order for close to 10 minutes. The table was never cleaned. I became frustrated and left. When I brought my experience to the attention of the front desk attendant he seemed perplexed by my statements but had no resolution for the problem. I don t have the highest expectations for in-house restaurants, but IHOP seems to have higher quality of customer service then this place.

Listen, this place is a little gem inside a hotel. Food is seriously always excellent! The appetizers were large, in charge and full of flavor. Also, ALL the bartenders Ive run into are friendly and give top notch service. Ive never had a bad experience here, which is saying something given typical hotel crowds. If you need a late-ish night drink and food, I would not hesitate to recommend the Knotty Bar!

Knotty Deck is a fantastic place to have company outings, birthday parties, practically any event. From 4 -6pm weekday, Christian or Ramiro will help setup and plan a phenomenal happy hour event. I love this place and their professionalism is greatly appreciated. The food is great as well, and the happy hour prices cant be beat!!

Andrew- By far the most knowledgeable bourbon waiter I ve ever met and I travel quite a bit. He gave us the history and how each bourbon was made with all manner of trivia. His advice was spot on. Loved the Contradiction Smooth Ambler, Blood Oath and Burning Chair. All food was very well done. Great atmosphere and yet not to loud for business conversations. Located inside of Austin Renaissance

Unfortunately, we did not have great service here. We tried it our first night just after we got in and we had to wait a while at the bar for the bar tender to service us. It was around an hour and a half until close, but he seemed very concerned about his closing duties and not his customers. The next day we were heading out to our event and stopped in for a quick lunch at a table. It took over 20 minutes for someone to even get us our drinks; the hostess mistook Johnny Walker for Jack Daniels. Not a big deal, but I had to flag someone down at the bar to get the right drink. Our food came out and was fairly tasty, to be honest. However, my wifes berries had mold on them. That was our only complaint about the food, and we tried to get it exchanged, but we received no service, so she just picked around it. The restaurant wasnt busy, maybe had 5 other parties besides us, but the wait staff seemed to actively avoid customers. I would not recommend going here, there are plenty of other great choices within walking distance.

We made a reservation for a table outside via Open Table and when we arrived there the hostess simply said all tables are taken outside. We took a look at the restaurant and since there is nothing special and our reservation was not available we decided to leave. Just dont give the option of reserve a table if you cannot guarantee that its going to be there waiting for us when we arrive at the restaurant on time.

The team here was awesome. Great place for hosting large group dinners or small cocktail events. Andrew and Dustin were so amazing on Sunday night for our cocktail hour. Andrew was so through and paid such attention to detail. He was constantly ensuring that everyone was happy and had a drink. He was consistently checking in with Nick and I and confirming if we needed anything else. You folks were really on the ball and it was great. I often host functions like this at different restaurants/venues, but your team by far was the most organized and accommodating. Thanks again!

Cute hotel bar tucked away in the Arboretum. Great place for a business casual meeting or coworker happy hour. Service is good and we had no wait. The expansive lobby atrium the bar is located within is a breath of fresh expansive air from the claustrophobic Austin bar scene. Highly recommend.

We sat at the bar, hoping to get a quick meal because theyve always been so quick. But today our waitress (Sara) was just rude and paid us no attention. We had to ask 3 different waiters/waitress for assistance. The drinks were not as good as they normally were. We wanted ginger beer for my girlfriends throat, they gave us gingerale. Overall food was good but service today was horrible.

This is a nice spacious dining area with an outdoor patio and views from inside or out. The food is thoughtful and delicious, Annnd they make the best Mac and cheese ever! It won the 2018 Mac and cheese festival in Austin, and I used both my voting noodles to vote for them. Great place to swing by when you are in the Arboretum. They do have a full service bar, big screens, and separate coffee lounge, so you can enjoy whatever you fancy.

So...the bad news first (there is a little good news). Here was our order...fried egg plant appetizer...cold, dry, inedible. We each took one bite and left it. Potato soup. Hmmm, not sure you can call it soup when it sticks to your spoon...more like mashed potatoes..tasty enough, but not warm and terrible texture. Next...waited an hour for main course...not exaggerating. The chairs were hard, the table metal, the atmosphere cold...super uncomfortable. Finally, my tacos come out, very dry, and cold and partners porkchop comes out, super dry and about 1/2inch fat. Really unpleasant food. Server comes out right before we are getting ready to leave and apologizes to us, says she will talk to the manager, that theyre down to 2 cooks and in the weeds and so sorry. Manager never (like, never) comes by, server says manager is going to comp the meal. Thats the good news by the way. Heres the rub, normally that would be awesome, but the service and meal was so horrible, I would rather have paid 2x the value of that meal somewhere else and enjoyed Friday night date night. Heres the part that really roils me....I booked the reservation through open table because it was a 1000point table. Was far from my first choice, but we had had brunch there before and it was pretty good so I figured it was worth the night for the points. AND THEY DIDNT REGISTER THE POINTS. I called and left message, still no points. Frankly, I would rather have paid for the horrible meal and got the points. Will not be going back. Do not recommend you try it. Way too many great places to waste money, time or points on Knotty. I am not only dissatisfied, Im angry. No wonder they atmre 1000 point tables, I dont know who else would go there unless some incentive. But buyer beware..they reneged. I should say the peach desert was pretty good. Nothing to crave, but at least edible. Everything else subpar.

Wasnt bad, but wasnt great. I am glad I had plans to eat before meeting up with friends there. The food was over priced. Some of it looked freshly made, but some of it seemed like it was just frozed foods cooked (like the fries). They had nice plates, not really garnished. I did not like my drink at all (some sort of champange and gin cocktail). The service wasnt the worst, but not proactive or helpful. It was nice because we were able to make a reservation for 16 on a Saturday for later that day. And they did split checks. Added 19% gratuity for a big group, which was expected. The atmosphere was pretty good for being inside a hotel. It was too cold for the deck, but maybe that would have made it better. The hotel was really nice which made it a plus when walking in. Overall, it was ok. I would go back again to meet with friends, but wouldnt recommend on my own. There are definitely better austin places to go explore around that area instead.

Dont pass this up. Here for Cancer treatment. Its tough. But we were put in this hotel by their generosity. So we had dinner at Knotty Deck Bar. The service was phenomenal. Andrew was our waiter and theres not enough words to express the sevice he gave us. When he found out about my daughter being there for radition he paid for her meal. When you are on this journey of treatmemt it really can take allot out of you. For the generosity here. We are amazed. But the food was 5 star excellent. Andrew was very knowledgeable about the menu which helped us find something suitable for her belly. If you try it here...the queso and chips
